Carbide leans in, the grim distorted voice may not have been heard by her ears in almost 1000 years, but it still didnt quite take her off guard, she was familiar with this little trick. Truthfully it still sounded strange as all get-out to her, but she had stared down bigger and meaner on the fringe worlds.. She watches Opalite glance over to Agate a few times, she didn't want to drag this out all afternoon, so she thought about wrapping up this lil verbal joust.."Ah, of course, after all it must have been an intentional near miss.. its not like I went and called you a clumpy dumpy clod, and then beaned your hat with a mud ball as I stormed off your ship, you WEREN'T trying to blast me to gravel, for good?" Upon hearing the words leave her mouth, she cant help but wonder if she might have just touched a nerve..
Agate's smile gradually diminished as this altercation went on, all of his notions about his friends crashing around him. He'd never experienced anything like this... this... anger. Corrupt gems are just naturally violent, but that wasn't their fault. The two in front of him were entirely of their own mind, or so it seemed. His breathing, a habit picked up from humans, grew rapid as his confusion turned to panic. His eyes darted between them again, his hands getting restless. He felt like he had to do something, anything to break this up. Maybe if they just stopped for a moment... "H-hey! Maybe we just uh... take a minute hmm? We just-" Opalite let out another insult towards Carbide, his voice distorting to some deep horrifying tone. His smile vanished and he stopped advancing towards them, pulling his hands towards his chest as if to hold them away from a snapping dog. For a long moment he just watched him, meeting his eyes for a second before he returned his attention to Carbide continuing on.
Again he watched them in absent horror, thoughts coming in rapidly. Was it true? It couldn't be... he's a good gem. He's a good gem. He wouldn't... Why won't they just stop? Just... stop! He tried to mentally reassure himself, his thoughts turning into internal screams until he yelled out without realizing it, "JUST STOP!" He looked up at the two of them, suddenly realizing he spoke out loud. He stood there, fists clenched at his side with a... frown? Not a joking frown or one of contemplation but a deep frown. He breathed deeply for a few seconds, holding his stance while he collected himself. Eventually he stood up straight and wiped his eyes, lowering his eyes. Without a word he turned and began walking down the docks back towards the beach, head held down.
Post by Grand Inquisitor, Mr. O on Jan 19, 2016 20:54:16 GMT
O was having a hard time right now.... his mind was being pulled in two directions, he just couldn't show weakness in front of Carbide or Yellow... he had his reputation to uphold! If he looked weak or as if he cared for something... he might not be able to hold the ruthless respect he commands. Though Agate was.... pure and nice, O had grown attached to the little gem... while around Agate he didn't have to be so brash or tough.
After Carbide had called him out monce more this time calling his actions into question, Opalite was ready to lunge out and have a... alone moment with Carbide so they could speak away from the other two when... "JUST STOP!" came from an emotionally distort Agate. O had one choice of action, he tossed his cane into the air only to grab the end of it and uses the hook around the top that his hand is normally around. Reached out to grab hold of Agates arm with his cane pulling him back towards the group and reached out with his slender fingers and wrapped them around Carbides arm. In a light blue blur all three gems had vanished from the material plane, leaving Yellow all by his lonesome for a few moments.
The air was... weird and a whorl of energy's warping around the group making it so no one could move away from Mr. O. He ignore Carbide for a moment and kneels down before Agate, his smile was... fake... anyone could tell Mr. O was not truly smiling. "Pebble... im not..... a good gem." He didn't want to lie, he didn't want to say any of this of course but... he had to do what was needed. "I have.. done things. Horrible things Pebble..." He was not even talking in his normal way. While here in the rift his voice was solid, very smooth but calm, "I tried to leave Carbide alone on a barren rock.... thats not the worse iv done." He looked weak like he really didn't want to be doing any of this.
He stands up and as he does he places his hand onto Agates shoulder... sending him back into the real world. He looks towards Carbide, the same deal, his smile was as fake as could be, "Happy? Im... sorry for what I did...." with that moment he reaches out to place hus hand on her shoulder like Agate... sending her back into the real would before he was all alone once more. He turns and starts to make his way away from the group... it was a hard day today, he wants to take some time for himself now.

Carbide feels dizzy as she is pulled into the rift zone.. it certainly was a strange place, the very atmosphere, if you could call it that seemed to have a tinge like... like... scorched copper that permeated the senses, it felt so so empty. Was this where Mr O went to retreat all the time?? She was known for needing some time to herself to decompress after a day, but even being alone on hostile planets didnt feel quite so .. disconnected as this.. She waits for Opalite to finish speaking, then draws in a heavy breath, and shakes her head..."No, I'm not happy Opalite, I carried a grudge for too too long, and I just let it blow up, and burn a gem that I... WE.. both care about..We have both had nothing for too long, in our own kinda sorry way...a fringe world wanderer that nobody on homeworld still knows exists, and you, snugged up so close to the Diamonds that you feel like youve forgotten what its like to have your own life. We both seem like We've got something to lose now, perhaps its someone really worth while?" her face softens a bit.. "Look Opalite, 'smudging your facets' has been real fun for me today, because frankly you deserve every bit of guff and sass I'm stuffing down your pointy little hat, but try to undertstand, I dont fear you any more, and the way you're acting right now, tells me there's something you're scared to death of... or perhaps scared to death of losing? But taking things away from gems isn't what I want do, maybe it used to be you, or maybe its just the you, you thought they (the diamonds) wanted you to be? ... Maybe you should try being the you, you want, and the you that lil pebble really needs? And I'll let all this, the past.. stay back where it belongs. Still might have to sass ya from time to time though" She smirks..." You tuxedoed clown"..
She rests her hand on Mr O's shoulder gently, despite his no-touching rule, and lets it trail down the length of his sleeve as she moves through the open rift, stepping back into the sea scented air of the boardwalk a few feet from Agate.."I'm Sorry friend, I hadn't counted on dropping head first into a situation like that, and well.. 1000 years worth of grudge just seemed to leap up into my throat and it came out as some pretty selfish behavior. It's over now, no more doom grudge against Opalite, and for what it's worth, he may be old and set in his ways, but since he came out here, I think he's learned a lot about himself, hes not quite the same and I think he needs a friend like you more than he'll outright admit, so dont leave him, kay?" By this point Carbide is out right misty eyed under her visor, and grabs Agate into a hug, and lets just say.. its a good thing that gems are more durable than humans... "Now, I bevlieve some cowpoke looked like he a couple queries for me.."
Agate was shocked as Opalite grabbed him with his cane, quickly transported into this odd dimension. It was his first time being in it, though he was aware he had some sort of ability like this. It was... well. It was awful. It was like seeing the world through a foggy lens, giving it a almost dead look in his eyes. He could never imagine being in this place for very long, especially not alone. Was this Opalite's escape? We definitely seemed to prefer travelling in this dimension rather than theirs. Such a solemn place for such a energetic gem. He turned his eyes to Opalite as he kneels down to meet him, what he said was not so much a shock as a morbid relief. So it was true. He was a bad gem like Carbide said. He did things to people to get whatever he wanted then left her to die. At the same time it was a relief to not have to doubt himself, he had his answer. As much as he hated it.
He was speechless, eyes oddly dry as he accepted what he said as fact. He didn't move as Opalite sent him back into the normal world, standing there for a long minute. He ignored Yellow for a while, staring straight ahead, before finally turning without a word and sitting on the edge of the dock with his back to him. He looked down at the water, kicking the water as to avoid looking at his reflection. He'd never not smiled for so long, it was... weird. Eventually he started thinking again, digesting the recent events. He thought back to their first encounter on the beach, something of a "head first into the deep zone" experience. He grimaced as he thought back to how he ordered him to shatter that gem. Probably wasn't the first time he'd done something like that... His thoughts continued until the end of that day, when they parted ways. Again he felt uneasy about the situation, it wasn't right. The way Opalite reacted that day, the way he reacted now. It was... regret.
He looked up as Carbide returned to their dimension and walked by his side. He avoided eyesight as she spoke, taking it all in. He was again surprised as she gave him something that could only be described as a bear hug. A very strong bear. He looked over at her, a smile starting to crack on his face, "It's alright, I really should have seen it coming. It had to happen some day." It was good news that their grudge was at some sort of standstill at the very least. So, that tall gem had a heart in that suit of his. He looked across the water for a minute as he imagined Opalite walking off in his dimension just as he did that one day. In that meek, depressing dimension. He stood up and turned towards the beach, yelling in what he hoped to be his direction, "Opalite! I don't care what you say, you're a good gem no matter what you think! No matter what you did, I believe in you! I trust you..." He watched down the way, not really expecting him to return but hoped he at least heard him. Even if he didn't, he'd be around next time. And he'd be patient, eventually getting through his facade of some big bad gem.
He turned towards the two remaining gems, giving a loud exhale, "Well... that was an ordeal. Sorry for uh... that Amber." He looked at Carbide, "At least it's over. If anything, this is the start of a beautiful friendship! You, Opalite, and I traveling across the world!" His smile grew back as he dramatically waved a hand across the horizon as he talked, finishing with a chuckle. He was back.
Yellow Amber looked vividly unimpressed by the whole ordeal, his arms were crossed and his body language gave off the impression that he had better things to do than see a quarrel between these two get sorted out, "Now then, back to important matters." He huffs to himself in silence, seeing the ordeal was finished now he lit himself a cigar and walked over to Carbide. "Now, it's recently come my employer's attention that a rebel group's been hiding out aroun' these here parts, the... 'Crystal Gems', I believe they're called." He squinted a tad, giving the the trio around him a quick look over for some reason, "Any information on any gemfolk around these parts that you believe could be connected to these here rebellious criminals would benefit myself and our Homeworld greatly." He explains to Carbide, "Any assistance will be rewarded, and likewise. Helpin' these criminals will not go unpunished." He explains, his tone was cold and emotionless. Any other day he wouldn't mind his time being wasted, but on a mission. A loss of mere seconds alone could jeopardize a mission greatly, "Names, locations, anything will help this cause." He said before taking a puff from his cigar.

Carbide holds a thoughtful face, eyeing the yellow gem and listening to him speak. Serious as he was, the accent was down right charming, while she may not work for home world any more, it was actually kind of refreshing to meet a Home World agent who seemed actually comfortable, and not disdainful of assignments to the fringe worlds of the gem empire.
"Hmm..." Her voice soft but confident.." Truthfully, the recent transmissions had caught my attention a few times over, its been a couple weeks since I rolled into this ..general vicinity *she makes a lateral circle in the air with her hand*.. and the strangest thing that I've noticed is that the majority of the gems I've met, are either Home World expatriates, apparently still proclaiming their allegiance, or neutral gems, who claim no affiliation at this present time, now whether everyone is being all upfront like with their affiliations, I cant say, but my observation is that the Crystal Gems, must be pretty subtle.."
She looks Amber up and down once again, curiosity nipping at her mind..."Pardon my asking, it may sound odd.. but what is Home World like these days? When were you last there? Its been nearly a thousand years for me.." She strides a step closer, reaching to her back, and fishing a slender vanilla cigarillo from the small denim pack she wore, placing it in her teeth and leaning in, igniting its end on the glowing embers of Amber's cigar as it hangs in his jaw..."I'm already dead and written off , as far as Home World is concerned, so the threat's a lil hollow, but I don't carry much ire for Home World, as a whole, although I do think they could do with addressing their methods and protocols for imperial expansion, or some day it wont be just some band of renegade Crystal Gems, that will come knocking I fear.." Her words, sort of trail off, as if that last statement was spoken to herself, rather than an audience. She gives Amber a wink.. "Thanks for the light, by the way *the cherry of her cigarillo glows bright as it hangs in her teeth.*.. so can you tell me who your employer is, or should I assume you're both drawn from the same colour palate?" She leans back against a wrought iron lamp post protruding from the board walk.
Yellow Amber's gaze was cold, this scenario was mildly worse than he had assumed. If there were more neutral gems running about, it'd be too difficult to tell which ones were the threats to Homeworld if they didn't declare their allegiance to a side or start their own (which would make the situation more of a political powder keg then it already was), "Over the course of a thousand years, not a lot has changed. Just subtle expansion into different galaxies an' so forth, nothin' exactly noteworthy." He explained to Carbide, which was the half-truth. He was just saying what the higher-ups allowed him to, most of Homeworld's advancements were kept on a real down low.
Yellow Amber adjusted his hat a tad when Carbide lit her cigarette with his cigar, "Now, I reckon the Crystal Gems are the most of our worries, I doubt there's a whole lotta' folk out there which as much gempower as them, and even if there was someone powerful enough to oppose Homeworld, where're they now an' why haven' they reared their heads yet, eh?" He asks, crossing his arms. Rumors of something bigger lurking have been whispered among the gems back at Homeworld, but it was nothing the Triarchy would directly address. Folks back home are too scared to ask, as the Diamonds asserted that the only obstacle appears to be a rebellion that dwindles, supposedly. Though judging now by the rumors and the amount of Crystal Gems and neutral entities located on Earth, it made Yellow Amber question his authorities to some extent just how much they're either hiding from the people, or just don't know about the current situation.
Yellow Amber snapped out of his deep thinking when Carbide winked at him, "Er, your welcome." He replies with a grin and a tip of a his hat, "My employer?" He rolls cigar with his teeth a bit, "Both me an' my Employer answer to White Diamond." He explained, revealing the White Diamond badge on the inside of his duster coat.

Carbide leans in, inspecting the shiny white badge, fused to the inside of his duster, and takes the dark rolled cigarillo from her lips and emits a small whitsle with a rising trill then a long fall. She was genuinely impressed that the White Diamond division was making such a presence here. "Hmm, White diamond.. I'm impressed espcially since youre not the only agent, under the White Divisiont thats been nosing about, and my apoligies, I had assumed youwere under the brass over at Yellow, wonder where I got that assumption hmm?"
She straightens up, standing ina more squared off pose to the hombre, his direct but reasonable demeanor was growing a level of respect for him in Carbide's mind. Some might think that he wasnt quite as attentive when he would go silent during momentary lulls, but she recognized that look for what it was, a gem who was actively thinking and questioning and comparing notes in his head, weighing them against experience and what he was taking in right at the moment.
"Listen, I'm my own gem, cowpoke, and while I am no perfect gal, not by a long shot, I don't want to see this mixing pot of races and factions boil over into an all out slug fest. The humans of this world, certainly didnt ask for this, and if home world deems them collateral to be written off simply due to their shorter life span, thats none too respectable neither. Their lives may be short, but theyv'e got a right to enjoy it as best theyre able. We may have brought the fight to their door step, but its not their fight to lose."
She pauses a moment, taking in his facial features in greater detail..nice chin, she thought.."Besides, It's my worry that if Home World is focusing all their attention and propaganda on these Crystal Gems.. well then, friend, If I were some other, bigger.. undseen enemy.. nows the time I'd be making a move.. While home world's got its head stuck up its proverbial coat tails, lookin for Crystal Gems and discidents... always gotta watch your six, they say." The cirgarillo is placed back in her teeth, where its embers pulse and glow, its sweet vanilla aroma cantering through the air, towards Amber.
"Well, I reckon I should tell you that y'ain't wrong for makin' such an assumption." Yellow Amber told Carbide as he closes his dust jacket, "Matter'a fact, I worked under Yellow Diamond for some time until a few above average performances scored me the promotion of a lifetime." He said with a proud grin, he scans Carbide for a brief second. Her build was certainly something else, not uncommon back on homeworld. But he could respect a gem with a more 'built-to-last' physique than he could one of those dumpy politician gems who's only job were to smile and wave and are built pretty much like what humans refer to as 'origami cranes'.
Yellow Amber twirls his thumb a bit, he focused in on her face. She has nice eyes, "Humans didn't ask for any'a this malarkey about being caught in the crossfire between us Homeworld folk doin' our job and these criminal rebels drawin' a target on the kind folk's planet." Yellow Amber pauses, he takes a puff of his cigar, the look in his eyes were cold, "Changin' the subject, I'm certain Homeworld knows where they're doin'. It's just a fraction of the militia lookin' for these rebels and neigh-sayers runnin' amock. I'm certain they've got some lab folk preparin' for those unexpected enemies." He states with a confident grin.

"Hmm, well then, I'm glad you sound so certain. Not a lot of certain things to cling to these days on the fringe worlds... By the way.. Eyes up here cowpoke." She chuckles as she notices that the Home World Marshall seemed to have taken a sweeping glance at more than just her chin. A host of other questions lept to the front of her mind, how could she have forgotten to ask about the Corrupted that seemed to be all to common on Earth, as well as a few other fringe worlds she had hopped about in recent years. "Oh! One thing I had meant to ask about, is less of an enemy with an objective, but rather a force that seems to just move and grow, driven by instinct rather than ideals. This Corruption phenomenon, what do you know about it? Is that on Home World's radar at all? I know it must seem like a distant problem to the diamonds back home, but if this turns out to be something communicable, like.. something that's carried along in our gem core's energy, and can be passed via prolonged proximity, or heaven forbid.. fusion. Well, not only could that dramatically curtail Home World's defenses, but it might lead to the mass quarantine of colony worlds. Could be that in the end of things, none of us, much less me or you, might never be allowed back." Her voice was a little thicker with concern this time, a bit of the gravel in her tone softening, the playful expression worn during their previous banter was replaced by a visage as serious as Yellow Amber's, meaning, her gaze could likely drive nails.
Her cigarillo burns somewhat low as she watches his expression, certainly a 'Marshall' for lack of a better term, knew the risks of going off world, but she wanted to make sure she could gather all the information she could, for he sake, and for the sakes of a few friends she had recently joined company with. "Er.. listen, we are gonna wear holes in this boardwalk with our boot heels, just standin' here, how's about we find a place to sit, and carry on this conversation somewhat more civilized like? Hope you got a taste for earth ethanol served up in an aqueous solution flavoured with organic florals, herbs and storage in burnt barrels. C'mon, it scratches an itch you never knew existed." And with that she starts off at a slow pace down the boardwalk, a human tavern far at the end served a scotch that had struck a cord with her since she arrived, making for a nice quiet contemplative treat. Her gaze swept about, looking to see if Agate had really gone off after Mr. O, or if he had lingered in the area for her.
Agate was a little saddened by the disappearance of Opalite, but he didn't blame him. He'd come around eventually. After all, they were both stuck on the same planet. They had to bump into one another eventually, and then he could help him turn a new leaf. There was a good gem under all the old Homeworld routine, there had to be. He stopped as he was halfway up the beach towards the town, turning towards the docks and the two gems. They started back down the same path he'd gone, though they hadn't seemed to notice him yet. He eyed Amber for a moment before turning around and heading towards the closest warp pad. Recent events sort of put things in perspective, and he wasn't so sure he liked this Homeworld gem assessing him. Even if he said he had potential, it was coming from the mind of someone still working for another part of the universe. The less they knew about him, the better, best to not get on their radar. Though it was possible that was already too late.
Either way, Carbide could handle herself and she wasn't exactly anywhere close to being turned to their side. He made his way away from them and towards the warp pad, already picturing his little home in the Kindergarten. Then an idea popped in his head, the thought of an old gem site. He had yet to see it, but he'd heard a few things. He took one last glance towards the direction of the town before stepping on and activating the pad, far away from town.
Yellow Amber grinned, but the look in his eyes didn't change. His eased swagger didn't change in the slightest, "Ah, the corruption. Those things've been cropping up, but not where it matters. They've got some lab gems studyin' them, last I heard." He explained to Carbide, truth was that he was told the matter would be looked into sometime ago. He hasn't heard much about it since then, perhaps it was classified to a higher level of security than him. Yellow Amber was okay with that, he knew it was for the greater good. "It hasn't really spread that fast, so we can' say for certain if it's actually infectious. Must be a risin' defect in producin' gems too quickly, I reckon. But that's just a theory of my own, an' y'don' see me in a lab coat." He added onto his statement was a tone of confidence.
Yellow Amber then shrugged, "I'm fine for goin' somewhere else, so long as you are." He said with a slick grin, he followed Carbide, "I reckon no harm could come in tryin' what these here Earth folk have to offer in terms'a ethanol-based production." He replied.

Carbide sets off at a brisk pace down the board walk with the Yellow Clad Marshall in tow. She had a place in mind just a block off the boardwalk, and it had been a good while since the last time she was there and started a bar fight... and then stole an old guy's teeth.. and then bit him with those teeth.. Anyway, when she wasnt in the mood for a punch-up it was actually a peaceful lil hole in the wall, a Pub called "The Mad Angler" and had a carved wood sign hanging from right angle iron bracket, featuring a fisherman engaged in fisticuffs with a large anthropomorphic tuna, in a row boat. The inside of the building seemed to be decorated with the dark stained flesh of dead trees, carved and fitted as trim. The lights were cheerful but not too bright, and the floor had an intermittent creek that she absolutely adored..
"I'm sorry if the place isn't as dusty or as...shootey... as maybe you're used to Amber. From what I gleaned, you were here long enough to enjoy a pretty interesting period of Humanity's frontier/industrial revolution history. From what I've read on the human interconnected computer data network, it seemed like a pretty wild lil flash in the historical pan. Sorry I missed it actually.. You've gotta tell me a few stories!"
She drops her pack on a table by the stained glass frosted window, just a bit of the sunset making it through the glass. The other patrons seemed to tense up a bit at first but she assures them... "At ease tonight boys.. I've got a law man here keeping me on my best behavior" She chuckles and throws a few mushed up pieces of green paper, human money onto the bar.. turns out human automated currency dispensaries are quite easy for her to hack...with her fists... Carbide magically extends her arms to reach a pair of highball glass and a bottle of particularly fine scotch from the wall. She felt like a treat tonight, and it wasn't like gems could actually get proper drunk, so she may as well treat Amber to some finely refined flavour. Her gem hums as she draws her arms back to normal length, and trots back over to the table, setting down the glasses and bottle, kicking the other chair out for Amber..."Well, lay on Macduff..."

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
Orginal Opening Plot Here Thread That Changed Everything
Differances Between the Roleplay and the Show
*Thanks to Rose Quartz' message the Gems on Earth are entirely aware that the Homeworld Gems intend to wipe out the human race.
*The "corruption" is being treated like a virus due to lack of info about it on the show.
*Garnet, Pearl and Rose are assumed capture on Homeworld
*Garnet,Pearl and Rose broke the space warps to delay Homeworld
*Thanks to Roses Message gems now know what the Kindergarten was used for
