Earth is not so bad. So far anyway.
Just outside a small town Andradite had been spending the last three weeks occupying a wooded area doing what he considered 'climatizing'. In reality what he was doing was closer to a sluggish controlled panic. He was lost. Mentally and literally on a strange planet without companionship. He was doing his darnest to maintain his composure. The first week was definitely the most trying. Without any clear direction he did the only thing he could think of, the very thing he was designed for... acting as a sentry. Knowing he should avoid the local beings for the moment he chose a lesser creature. After a thorough search Andradite found a particularly noble looking lizard he deemed suitable.
Such a sight it must have been, seeing a Gem following around a lowly lizard as if the creature mattered. Tailing it around assisting it in the capturing of insects for consumption, protecting it from threats (real or imagined). If any Gem happened upon him they would certainly think him cracked. For three weeks Andradite accompanied this animal, who by the way was rather rude by Andradite`s standards, as he adapted to this new environment.
Today started out pleasant enough. Andradite had watched the sun rise not too long ago on his post just outside the lizard's modest bush home. It was still early but the day looked promising. In fact things had been going so well that Andradite began return to a more rational structure of thinking.
'What the heck am I doing?' Andradite thought with a breaking smile. The creeping realization of how foolish his choice of actions began to sprout. He rested his head in his hands letting out a irritated groan. After a moment of retrospection the embarrassment struck. ゙Ive lost my mind!゙ he shouted throwing his hands into the air. He shouted once more into the sky something too rude to mention and let his arms fall to his sides. Still looking to the sky he closed his eyes sighing with a sort of satisfied relief. It felt good to let that out.
A moment passed and Andradite returned to a more natural stance. Glancing down at his uniform he noticed how unkempt he had become. A little dirt here, a few tears there, he was a mess. Running his hands through his hair his fingers met with some small twigs. At some point he had removed his helm. Definitely a sign he was not himself. Pulling out one of the twigs he held it out on his palm letting himself get a better look at it. It was alien to him. This whole place was alien. He felt a bit of despair but it was fleeting, soon replaced with determination. ゙I will not fall to this world゙, he whispered confidently. With that he crushed the twig in his hand and let it fall to the woodland floor. It was time to take a more forward approach in his survival.
Andradite gathered himself and started making his way back towards the town on the beach. He needed information and more importantly he needed supplies. He had no idea how his presence would be taken by the locals but he was ready to meet the challenge. He was pumped, he was confident, he was prepared to kick butt and show these primitives who was the alpha species. Nothing could stop him. He was the Gem to get it done! He was--
"What do you mean I can't have this? I NEED this!" Andradite yelled shaking a bag of merchandise in the shopkeeper's face. The stout shopkeeper snatched the bag from his hand and set it behind the counter out of Andradite's reach. "Like I said, no money no sale!", with that he crossed his arms and turned away from Andradite. "Go mooch off someone elses livelihood.". Andradite was in no mood to deal with the stinginess of this selfish creature so he reached out to grab the shopkeeper's arm and only realized his mistake halfway through the door as he was thrown to the curb by the large man. Landing flat on his back he could hear the shopkeeper yell after him, "Get a job you bum!".
"Job?" Groaned Andradite as he sat up rubbing his sore back. He had underestimated these people and their ability to resist his superiority. The townsfolk didn't react at all when he entered the town. Like disheveled Gems were a typical sight. The idea of bumping into another Gem wasn't something he looked forward to. He shuddered at the thought. Still sitting on the curb where he was thrown he tried to figure out his next move. "Where can I find these... jobs?"
