The Sea Spire, once a beacon of the progress the colony of Earth had made, now a shadow of its former self. Glass had to see it herself, had to know that every single relic of the old Gem world was lost, or at least extremely beaten. She needed to know that the time she came from was truly gone if she was going to try getting used to this new one. Though it took a while, she made it into the spire, and her footsteps now echoing through the main room.
Everything was broken down, the stone cracked and weathered, disregarded for hundreds of years and somehow still standing. A small sigh left Glass as she fell to her knees, unsure of how to react. There was a name for this feeling, though she couldn't remember it. Some kind of future-shock was the best way she could describe it. Glass clenched her fists and stood, she was stronger than this. She hunted the enemies of her Homeworld for generations, she fought for what she was told to, but now that she has nobody to give her orders, she didn't know what to do.
Instead of listening to herself and continuing through, she walked to one of the columns holding up the floor above, seating herself against it, staring blankly at the staircase many feet away. She just needed some time to think
A time that Glass wouldn't recieve. Benitoite was examining the large structure for both lost technology he could use for his own purposes, as well as the structural integrity of The Sea Spire. Benitoite marched up the steps using T.O.M. (his multitool) to scan whenever possible. The Sea Spire was just one step cleaner than decrepit. It was obvious it hadn't been maintained, but the natural properties ofor the structure along with its isolation had preserved the Spire....kind of. More interesting than structural integrity, Benitoite spotted a gem just a few yards away. Due to the incline of the stairs it was likely she hadn't seen him. Unless she heard the constant note-taking. Benitoite approached slowly, brandishing T.O.M. by his side in case things went awry. "Yes, uh, you there. Why...are you at this site?"

A Benitoite... Glass didn't react until the blue Gem spoke, as she was lost in her thoughts, noticing the blue gem but not being able to process it before he spoke. "Yes, uh, you there. Why... are you at this site?" The cerise-toned Gem slowly stood saying, "I have as much a right to be here as you, perhaps even a greater right." She said, beginning to pace slowly. To the trained eye, the pacing would be seen as somewhat of a nervous action. For the first time in hundreds of years, someone was able to get the drop on her.
As she was about to speak again, she noticed the tool-like object in the Bentioite's hand, and smiled a little bit. "You don't need that, I'm not a threat." If the blue Gem was familiar with the old Homeworld uniforms and markings, it would be clear that she was an Interrogator, a position in Yellow Diamond's authority that specialized in hunting the enemies her superiors gave her.
"I have as much a right to be here as you." The glass seemed to think he was challenging her authority. As easy as that would be, that wasn't what Benitoite was here for. Although the later comment about not being a threat could've been a deception. Especially considering whom he was speaking with. Benitoite quickly and soundly responded "To call yourself not a threat would be an insult to you. I am completely aware of your gemtype. Unless your gem is somehow damage, which I severely doubt, it's very likely that you could defeat many I've met in many diverse forms of combat." Though, the 'not a threat' part seemed to be in reference to T.O.M. Benitoite found that to be rather comical. With his current devices, the multitool wouldn't so much as tap Glass. It would however be an excellent emergency getaway. "If you'd allow me to make an assumption as to your origins......you've abandoned your patron diamond after find this planet it more adequate than you had originally realized. Right now, you're contemplating and internalizing said decisions." Benitoite had spend the previous night studying human culture. That night, it meant reading every Sherlock Holmes book he could get his rocky hands on. "In any case, I'm in no position to remove you." A thought popped into Benitoite's mind, having a glass as an ally would be a wonderful idea. The popular human idiom was Brains and Brawn. Hopefully it worked as well in physcial situations as it did in fictional ones.If you'd like me to fabricate the human organic substance known as coffee, I've recently found the perfect chemical formula for it."

When the blue Gem opposite her spoke about how she was, indeed, a threat, Glass smiled. "Thanks for the compliment." she said with a hint of sarcasm on her tongue. "If you'd allow me to make an assumption as to your origins..." The smile on Glass's face quickly vanished, replaced with a slight frown. As Benitoite spoke, the smile formed on her face once more. "I'm no rebel, and I'm unsure of where my loyalties lie today. As for that whole guess on my backstory, you're going to have to get a little more creative and stay off the whole 'rebellion' thing."
"If you'd like me to fabricate the human organic substance known as coffee, I've recently found the perfect chemical formula for it." Glass looked a little confused by this suggestion, thinking over it quickly. "Sure, wouldn't mind seeing what the apes have done for foodstuffs."
Benitoite smiled for the first time in a while. She seemed to have a strong mind and stronger demeanor. The grin only grew when she took him up on the offer for coffee. Benitoite pressed a few buttons on TOM and grabbed some small Styrofoam cups he took from Fryman's. After TOM had finished brewing, a pleasant 'ding!' reverberated throughout the room. Using TOM like a syringe, Benitoite emptied coffee into a cup and offered it to Glass.
"Most of the organic beings nourishment production is quite repulsive, but I've found coffee to be a sort of overcharge. Although research will need to further investigate, my hypothesis is that coffee was originally developed as some form of combat stimulant." Another ding shot out of the multitool as Benitoite poured a second 8 oz. cup for himself. Slowly, as to fully absorb the energy, Benitoite sipped at the coffee.

Glass stared at the recently made coffee for a few seconds, looking between it any its maker. 'It's warm,' She thought. 'At least it has that going for it.' As she lifted the cup up to her mouth and drank a small amount of the dark liquid, her eyes widened a bit at the taste. After sitting there with her head down, savoring it for a short while, she finally looked up at the blue Gem. "This is one of the best things I've ever tasted!" She almost immediately took another sip. The drink was so good, in fact, that Glass didn't keep herself in check for a few seconds.
After regaining her cool, Glass finished off the cup of coffee rather quickly. She smiled and handed the cup back to Benitoite thinking it was reuseable. "Thank you." After a few seconds, she decided to try and spark up some conversation. "So... What brings you to the Spire?"
So, this wasn't an isolated phenomena among gems. Coffee's properties could be useful in a number of ways, but for now there was a more pressing matter. The first intriguing and possibly cerebral person he'd met in 1000 years. Benitoite quickly spoke "I am pleased you enjoyed it. I've heard of a human colonized island known as Ireland that have found a way to improve upon the design. As for why I've traveller to the Spire. The last time I was here was...a long time ago. I was taking making a structural analysis and measuring the both the rate of decay and power o-" Benitoite stopped himself. Few militarized gems saw the value in such statistics.

"A long time ago is putting the years on the short side." Glass said quietly after he had finished his explanation. "Well, since you told me why you're here, it's only fair that I told you why I'm here." She smiled slightly remembering the event that took place so long ago. "The last time I was here was when the Spire was operational. I met one of my superiors at this site, and he gave me an abnormal target: A group of humans who made their home on an ideal location for a Kindergarten."
As she continued on, she begun to ponder her ideas. "My job was easy, and I could have done it without a second thought if I didn't realize that they weren't just animals. They are animals, just not as unorganized as I once thought." She smiled. "That's all you need to know. If you want to go through some Homeworld military database and try to find information on that mission, you should be able to so long as you have proper clearance. It's been long enough to where the mission should be declassified for many."
The cerise-colored Gem laughed slightly. "I haven't talked this much in a long time."
“Who made their home on an ideal location for a kindergarten.” Benitoite stewed for a moment, he doubted she would see the same benefits he saw to preserving Humankind. Luckily those fears would soon evaporate. “if I didn't realize that they weren't just animals.” Benitoite was pleasantly surprised by the glass again. Not only did she see the value in preserving Humans, but she saw it for the same reasons as Benitoite. "That's all you need to know. If you want to go through some Homeworld military database and try to find information on that mission, you should be able to so long as you have proper clearance. It's been long enough to where the mission should be declassified for many."
He might have a look at the file later, probably not. His security privileges had probably been revoked when he left his station. A security protocol. "I haven't talked this much in a long time." Benitoite contemplated for a few moments before making an observation “I've never enjoyed talking this long.”

"Well, I'm glad I'm able to give you a conversation you liked." Said Glass. She begun to think for a second before sitting up. "Alright, let's cut to the chase." Her face had a serious look on it, one purely of business. "You wouldn't be talking to me as an equal if you didn't have something to gain, that's how this always goes. And believe me, I know how this goes. I've been doing my job for too long to know that it's not like this. What exactly do you want from me?"
The friendly atmosphere was at least temporarily removed from her skepticism, but it wasn't really her fault. She was made to be totally stoic, completely unfeeling, and incredibly cold to everyone but her superiors. She was reverting back to her original mindset, one of total loyalty to nothing but those above her, one of complete social isolation.
"You wouldn't be talking to me as an equal if you didn't have something to gain, that's how this always goes. And believe me, I know how this goes. I've been doing my job for too long to know that it's not like this. What exactly do you want from me?" That act of pushing Benitoite away only intrigued him more. Smart, strong, inquisitive, the whole metaphorical package. Benitoite deliberated on his answer before speaking "For the half millenia I've been on this planet, I've met many, and seen many things. It took me that long to even consider that some things on this ball of dirt, and I am not being theatrical, they named their planet dirt. I came to Beach City for some semblance of sanctuary and in the week I've been here I've been attacked twice and placed into more needlessly confusing situations than I care to list. After coming here and starting conversation I've met the first person I capable of holding a cerebral conversation who continues to pleasantly surprised me."
Benitoite took a breath. That had been...unintentionally deep. Benitoite added another thoughtime now that he was back in his suaully calm demeanor. "On this planet of neanderthals and brutes, it's nice to be able to talk to someone whom you don't see in a mirror." Benitoite usually wasn't much for hyperbole. He wasn't sure why he was feeling so fruity with his wordsmanship

Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld

They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’.
