In town there was a tiny park. Spider knew it was for what the humans called 'kids.' Smaller versions of themselves that eventually grew into bigger humans. The smaller ones played here during the day time...
The park was shaded and in view of the nearby ocean, but Spider only came here when it was dark outside like now. She stood on the edge of the park, inspecting it with her arms crossed and on her hips. There were only a couple items on the grass. A metal and wooden slide, a bench, and then a swing set.
The swing set had a wood frame, just like the slide, but with a rusty chain that made an eerie squeaking when anyone sat on it. The seat part of the swing was a rubber like tires, but smoother and much more glossier then any car tires she had ever seen in this sleepy little town. She shifted her weight from foot to foot, biting her lip as she slowly stepped forward and onto the grass going right for the swing set.
She knew how the contraption worked, she had seen countless human children do this. Sit on the seat and... Pump your legs. The more they did it the higher they got. The more in the air they went...
Spider wanted to do it, wanted to get up into the air but... She couldn't.
Ever since she had landed on earth and fell off the cliff she hadn't been able to get both feet off the ground. She had attempted to climb trees, walls, heck... Even a rock and every time she became a trembling, out of breath, puddle. Happened every time.
What was a spider hat couldn't climb walls?
She sighed and rubbed the bridge of her nose with one of her hands, "Just... Do something... You can't be afraid forever..." She had just an annoying habit of talking to herself...
