Name Among Humans: Tazmania, or Tazzie.
Name Among Gems: Topaz.
Appeared Gender: Female.
Appeared Age: Adult.
Gemstone: Blue Topaz, Facet-3Y91 Cut-2LH. (Triangular.)
Gemstone Location: The crest of her forehead.
Allegiance: Crystal Gems.
Corrupted: No.
19% Corruption. (Warning! Dangerously high for a functioning gem.)
Corrupted Monster Form: Unknown.
Appearance: Tazzie stands her full height at a flat six foot tall, her skin a very light shade of blue. Her eyes and bicep length hair are both a much darker blue, and her hair features lighter blue highlights in places. Her shirt is a short little midnight blue t-shirt, a colour shared with her shin covering boots. Both her boots and her shirt are decorated each with a small somewhat discoloured star, what she believes to be the symbol of the Crystal Gems of, at the very least, Earth. The soles of her boots are the same shade of the stars. Over her shirt is some kind of lightly armoured dark teal vest lined with yet more of the stars' uneasy shade of yellow. Her pants are poofy and stop to make way for the boots, and are the same teal as her body armour vest. Her hands and forearms are unusually formed to look a bit like gloves when in actuality they are the flesh of her physical form, though with thicker skin, tenser musculature and sturdier bones. The skin is capable of blocking standard blades common in Earth society and the bones can withstand otherwise limb shattering blows, supported by the muscles which reach further unseen under the rest of her skin to line her whole body, giving her a significant strength advantage... at least over humans. Her soft face bares adorable freckles on her cheeks!
Personality: Kind, generous... and a little bit apathetic from time to time, though she genuinely wants to be a good person, and holds a fine appreciation for human culture and organic interests. A generally laid-back gem, Topaz has an unfortunate habit of minor to total cognitive disassociation, leaving her unintentionally out of the loop and confused when things start to happen around her. But make no mistake; this does not mean she's a docile creature. If anything she's borderline feral, capable of going from civil to savage at the drop of a hat, leading some of her past fellows to wonder if perhaps she's some kind of janked up ex-sleeper agent that lost the concept of triggers a while ago and substitutes them with whatever makes her upset. Topaz is a plenty outspoken gem, not usually afraid to tell somebody what she thinks of them, usually in an excessively articulate or unnecessarily scornful way. Topaz holds a lot of loyalty toward her fellows and contrariwise holds little but hatred and contempt for her enemies, and is plenty keen to introduce them to anything and everything she has at her disposal, from harsh words to weaponry to her very teeth. Despite all this, she keeps a lot bottled up and is very self conscious around her peers.
Likes: Good times, pretending she's human, pretending she's literally any living creature she can think of, destroying evil, making places safe, food, letting her face grow hair.
Dislikes: Jerks, boredom, being really really sad.
Fears: Being shattered, being lost, becoming Corrupted, the deep ocean, being too far from solid populated land.
Weapon: A hefty but simple warhammer designed for precise, devastating blows at a good range of several feet. Also her own teeth.
Ability 1: Gravity Bomb. When in the air, Topaz can tense her body up and, in layman's terms, become really friggin' heavy. While a shockwave isn't particularly likely, don't expect to survive being sat on by what is basically a person-shaped blue anvil of crushing. Better dodge.
Gravity Bomb takes a lot of effort to perform, and going down too far can outdo her durability and instantly kill her, forcing her into her gem. It requires the preceding jump to activate as well, and if interrupted it makes it harder to try to do again. Her weight returns to normal upon impact.
Ability 2: Unstoppable Force. Topaz can channel her worrying degree of Corruption to become very briefly nigh-invulnerable and more than triples her body mass. If you plan to stand in front of her when she does this, make sure your affairs are in order or be very good at grapple combat.
Unstoppable Force is, of course, a channel ability and Topaz needs a moment to pull it off. In addition to being a considerable physical and mental strain, it holds high risk of corrupting her further.
Fusions: Capable and moderately experienced, but has no current Fusions with gems on Earth.
History: Made on Homeworld and, nearly a thousand years later, finally issued to Earth as part of a cadre of long-term scouts and adaptable thugs, Topaz and her cadre saw many long centuries of exploration and adventure across Earth and a few neighbouring planetary bodies, though the others were one by one reassigned to other parts of Gem territory across the galaxy. Topaz was kept around by the administrative officers planetside as a sort of recognition of their efforts. She didn't complain, though she wasn't very happy with the kinds of gems starting to turn up on Earth. For centuries more she simply dwelled, and over time she started to realize how... cold many gems were as people, not to mention how much her former teammates were exactly like these other mean, stiff gems. This rubbed her the wrong way for quite some time and when gems started kicking up a stink over this and that as a prelude to Rose Quartz'... incident... Topaz was all too eager to join in on the complaining. When the Hub shut down she was one of the first gems to start swinging, even if it didn't really make sense to a sensible gem. She's spent the rest of her retirement hunting evil up and down North America, too afraid to try and cross the oceans to go anywhere else.
Character Arcs.
Well, Topaz has to reconnect with other gems proper, or alternatively end up approaching full irreparable Corruption and madness.
She has to find some way to come to terms with knowing she's not like other gems and is, by most definitions, just sort of... defective.
Corruption doesn't particularly fade, and her levels have only spiked with recent events; she's going to go insane at some point. It's just a matter of what makes her snap.
