Chip actually laughed at the mention, that she thought about singing to waves.
"Hehe... somehow it felt like it could be quite relaxing... I have no idea why... just feels that way..."
He said, skipping the part about him being nervous. Hopefully that won't be an issue any longer. Hugs were apparently his weakness, because, so far, it always calmed him perfectly.
"What is it like? Knowing what you are suppose to be... or what do you like doing?"
He changed topic suddenly. He didn't know what was suppose to be his purpose... and he was keen on survival for so long, that all the other things just weren't important anymore... or at least this is how it was before he met Morion... and now Melody... suddenly he felt... emptier then before? Perhaps because now he had no driving force?
Melody smiles and nods "Most things can be very relaxing in all honesty" She sighed and leaned against one of the pillars "You can figure out how to relax near anything if you just take time to rest up and concentrate" The Chrysocolla thought to herself for a minute before shrugging at Chip "I'm not sure. I like singing, I guess. Um...does being loyal to Homeworld count? I figure I also like stuff such as just getting the chance to write new songs..oh, and I love performing. I'll probably perform any chance I get. It's a bit of a bad habit of mine sadly. I think the term humans use is...hubris?" She shrugged, not sure where she heard that word before

"I thinking that eating cookies is quite relaxing... especially the chocolate pieces on top... those have such a nice texture. It's very pleasant."
He said. Also rain was very relaxing... or, to be more specific watching rain from somewhere inside. Having rain actually falling you was quite annoying.
"I don't know what counts and what doesn't... I just know, that I have no idea why I was created... I have a weapon, so Morion thinks I'm a should have been a warrior... but I don't think that's it... or at least not completely... I just... feel it? Or is that just a wishful thinking? And what if I never learn what I was suppose to be? Isn't that like the big piece of me is missing? I mean except the piece that actually is missing..."
But before he got deeply in this metaphysical stuff he smiled. "Will you perform now? You have an audience here... small one, but still..."
He said and sat down with his back against a pillar.
Melody giggles and smiles, nodding "I can see that. I've tried cookies before, and they're quite delicious. Although I hate those things they call...raisins? Just spoils the whole texture" She shivered and sighed before listening and walking up to Chip, giving another hug before shrugging "I'll be honest, I don't know what to suggest. But I feel that your purpose, what you were made for, will come to you when the time is right." She nodded and smiled, hopping up onto a pillar stump and picking her guitar up "I suppose I can if I must. I haven't given a proper performance in awhile. Just let me think up a good tune...maybe one I've heard from Earth..." She started strumming and playing a tune she remembered hearing before Hello darkness, my old friend I've come to talk with you again Because a vision softly creeping Left its seeds while I was sleeping And the vision that was planted in my brain Still remains within the sound of silence
In restless dreams I walked alone Narrow streets of cobblestone 'Neath the halo of a street lamp I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed By the flash of a neon light That split the night And touched the sound of silence
And in the naked light I saw Ten thousand people, maybe more People talking without speaking People hearing without listening
People writing songs That voices never share And no one dare Disturb the sound of silence
"Fools," said I, "you do not know Silence, like a cancer, grows. Hear my words that I might teach you Take my arms that I might reach you." But my words like silent raindrops fell And echoed in the wells of silence
And the people bowed and prayed To the neon God they made And the sign flashed out its warning And the words that it was forming
And the sign said, "The words of the prophets Are written on the subway walls And tenement halls." And whispered in the sound of silence (Guitar version ^^)

Chip just sat down and listen to the music. He heard music before of course, mostly from radios and various other gizmos. But except few beggars on street he never heard music from other people, and never from a gem before. The song sounded quite sad to him, he wasn't sure he understood what exactly was it about, but he get this overall sense of sadness. Like something terrible happened, something that people had to deal with and didn't know how...
"Wow... that was neat... a little sad, but neat. You're awesome with that guitar!"
He said once the song finished. Suddenly he wanted to sit down, playing something for the ways. Expressing through music looked very powerful. Perhaps he could try and learn how to play some instrument too.
Melody blushed and smiled, hopping down from her little pedestal when she finished and bowing out of respect. "Thank you! And yeah, the song was kind of sad. It was something I heard on one of those..radios that humans have. Never did understand what the lyrics were about, not yet at least, but I felt like learning the song just because it was a bit..memorable I guess." She giggled, sensing that Chip was eager to try music out. "Music can be a powerful way for people to express their ways. The thing I love about songs is that they don't have to be with any sides or anything. They can just...well they can sound however they want really. That's the beauty of it. I can play some more if you'd like.."

Chip started clapping to express he liked the song. Humans did that a lot...
"I think the song was really cool. Humans surely could be creative... does music exist on Homeworld? I never been to Homeworld... I know very little about it..."
He asked. Since Melody was a bard there probably was some kind of music there? Gems were really into perfection... and music was something that could be considered close to perfection. At least in his mind...
"I'd like to create music... but I have no idea how to do it... I never knew... actually I don't really know how to create anything... the only thing that I was given is the ability co create fire... that's useless..."
Apparently fighting was the most important thing with Gems... not music... it was the Morion's "we are warriors" all over again...
Melody giggled when Chip clapped, but sighed a little when he asked. "Well...in a sense, it does. Music and the arts are simply not as big on the whole planet. That's Blue Diamond's specialty, arts and culture and all that stuff. She's also my diamond." She walked over and sat next to him, trying to think of what to say "Well..really and truly, you can create just about anything if you put your mind to it. What I've realized with music, is that it takes time to simply think. How would you want your song to go? What should the lyrics say? What message do you want to try and get out to the rest of the world? ...Does that make any sense?"

"I think if I ever created something like this it would probably be quite sad... then again sad songs could be nice too... the one you sang was surely beautiful. The problem is, that I seriously doubt I could do this anytime soon."
He said. The truth was, that if he ever made a song it would probably be about his pain. It was something he was unable, or unwilling to get over. It was just part of who he was...
"I might work on that... it surely sounds like cool way to express yourself. I have no idea how to start... but that's the challenge, right? If it would be easy everyone would do it."
Melody nodded and smiled "You're absolutely right. If it would be easy, there would be so many more humans and artists in general who became famous for their songs. But instead, that's not the case. There are people who are fantastic at writing songs and being good at stuff like that. I think I'm just lucky that I'm good." She giggled and sighed, looking up at the Fire Opal "Tell you what, I can act as a bit of a teacher if you want. It doesn't have to be right now obviously, but in the future if you need some help writing songs or simply need someone to talk to, you can always come to me. That's only if you wish of course."

"I just might take you on that offer someday. After all I should find some hobby... or some... purpose..."
He smiled nicely. And it could be nice to have someone to talk to. Morion was kind to him, but he was strange. Plus he loved his metaphors a little too much. Everything was test with him... everything a challenge... it was quite tiresome from time to time.¨ "Well... I think I could really use a... friend."
He said, hoping it wasn't too presumptuous of him. The fact was, that besides Morion he had no friends... well perhaps Spider? But other then that... and Morion was more like a mentor then a friend... and he wasn't sure what were his motives...
Melody nodded and smiled "That's always nice to have. I find it helps whenever the whole fighting stuff can get in the way." She patted Chip on the back and sighed. Chrysocolla looked up and smiled at the Fire Opal "I can certainly help you there. I'll admit, I've been meaning to build up the number of friends I have here on Earth. I will gladly be your friend Chip." She gave him another hug and giggled happily "I promise if you need someone to talk to, I will always be around to have a conversation with or if you simply need to calm down and listen to music. This place is also good for meditation, just a little note there"
Post by Chip the Fire Opal on Oct 11, 2016 8:34:09 GMT
Chip let himself be hugged. He didn't resist at all, why should he? It was so nice knowing there are Gems, that will accept him the way he was - imperfect, sligtly imbalanced and not at all the way he should have been.
He said, moved by her words.
"But the same thing applies to you, if you ever need someone who will listen, then just find me. Or just sent for me and I will be here as quickly as I can... and I do whatever I can to help you."
He promised. And he didn't take his promises lightly, especially since he made so few of them so far. He didn't know how he could help, but sometimes it was enough to have someone who will listen... who will understand whatever you're going through...
Melody smiled happily and nodded, she felt so happy that she had a legitimate friend with her. She sighed and giggled, sitting back down on a pedestal. "I'll do that, don't worry. I tend to hang out in Empire City whenever I'm not here at the spire. You have to realize that I don't always spend my time here at the Spire, just due to the fact that I can only spend so much time in one spot in my opinion." Chrysocolla blushed a little and sighed as she looked out at the ocean "It's not like I don't mind being out here, but I don't think I want to spend another eternity out here...I don't want to be left alone again."
Post by Chip the Fire Opal on Oct 11, 2016 14:14:35 GMT
Chip had to smile. It was so nice to speak with a friend.
"Yeah, I understand. This place is really neat, very... Gem... but I can't imagine staying here all the time... Well, there was a time when I would like to be alone... but not anymore... but from time to time it's a nice place... and with great view on the ocean."
He said. Ocean was nice, he used to fly over ocean from time to time, just to see it from above.
"Morion's skyscraper isn't exactly ancient gem structure, but it's quite nice... so visit whenever you want. I'm sure he wouldn't mind and I would be really happy."
He just reminded her. All those human pearls were slightly disturbing though... he was scared of Sebastian more, than he was willing to admit...

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
