It would be a grand understatement to say that Homeworld's galaxy was 'far' from the Earth's; light-years and light-years away deserved a bit more description than 'far', didn't they? Millennia and millennia between one point and another. Time, as a rather abstract concept, seemed as if it would matter even less to Gems travelling through the vacuum of space. However, as with lesser, short-lived races, they preferred to reach their destination in a relatively timely fashion, and thusly came the advances in faster than and near-light travel. Since then, it was rarely too troublesome for the more impatient Gems, such as the Clear Quartz who currently found there way in route to the fairly distant, rural colony. Unfortunately, in this case, the relatively low priority of their mission had relegated them to a fairly old, outmoded carrier ship which compaired to the newer starships could only manage a snail's pace.
Naturally, the sobering boredom set in quickly upon passenger and crew alike, a smothering blanket that was rarely broken, even by transmissions; Homeworld had been fairly quiet since their departure, not that these older vessels could pick up most of the newer frequencies anyway, and they were not yet close enough to make contact with the colonial moon base, much less the colony itself. Despite it all, 7XB felt somewhat at home, as many of these now antiquated ships were the pride of Homeworld in their early days, so long ago. This didn't mean that the Quartz was any less frustratinglybored than the others, though..
