Like most of Pyrope's excursions it was late at night, her favorite time to travel as she was less likely to run into others. Not that she was exactly anti-social but... she certainly enjoyed her own privacy. That and where other gems were, danger soon followed. So the tall red fusion found herself at the Communication Hub, looking over the ruins as she often did. Truth be told, she was hopeful that she could possibly find something someone else missed. Something crucial, anything to fix this oh so crucial piece of tech. Of course the hope was small, some of the finest minds trapped on Earth spent forever trying to fix this thing and still nothing. What chance did a low-quality guard like herself of fixing it.
She stood in-between two of the many pillars of the hub, running a hand along the side of one, "If only..." If these things were running they would have this place under control in no time, if only Homeworld knew everything that had happened here. Of the corruption, of the rebellion, all of it. It would be so easy... Of course in her distraction she failed to notice the presence of any other gems present, confident in her initial sweep hours ago.

Truth be told, Obsidian was surprised that she managed to stay alive this whole time. Obsidian would've died by now from Opal, or any rebels/creatures that resided here but due to her quick thinking and cunning ideas, she managed to scrape by what would happen to her. "To think there's one communication Hub around here.." she muttered to herself, looking down at her data-pad. She already sent out her scout automaton's to "scout" what lies ahead of her, little did she know, she would encounter Pyrope.
The automaton scouted ahead of Obsidian, there were two automaton surveying the area for their master, silent humming was produced by the small circular floating automatons who were just about to reach where Pyrope is.
She continued circling the structure, thinking about the rebellion as she often did. They certainly were throughout with their plan for cutting off access to Homeworld, she had to give them that. Of course... What was that sound? She whipped around, hearing the humming coming from a short distance away. For a moment she almost though the hub began to function, though common sense eventually prevailed and she realized something else had to be making that noise. It didn't take long for the culprit to be spotted, some sort of floating drone.
She cursed herself for being so careless, standing up against on of the pillars to stay out of sight of the drone. Assuming it even worked on sight, she had no clue what this thing really what. Of course there was only one way to find out... Keeping an eye on it as best she could, Pyrope waited for the drone to get relatively close before making her move. Rushing at it as fast as she could she lunged at it, grabbing it within her hands.
Much to her surprise she caught it. Even more so, the thing was incredibly fragile. She wasn't exactly gripping it hard, and already her fingers had made small dents in its chassis. She turned the thing over in her hands, examining all sides for any evidence of cameras or other observation devices, "Hello? Someone on the other side of this thing?" She looked around at the surrounding land for its owner, not spotting anyone nearby. She turned back to this thing, "If you can hear me, you better show yourself if you want this thing in one piece." She kept it fairly firmly in her grasp, not thinking if this thing happened to have some sort of fail safe mechanism for just such an occasion.

"You know i need to catch up on my earth shows...I need to see what-" she was cut off by Pyrope suddenly speaking to the automaton speaker, she jolted straight up had she been so careless and forgot that they might've been some gems stalking her. "Oh Diamond.." she whispered, feeling that she might've doomed herself, the worst part is, she was already running low on "conservative" automatons that were stored on her ship, she needed every little automaton functional to keep her projects working.
"Alright don't break my shit!" she cursed back into her data-pad, walking to where one of her automaton stopped in place, footsteps can be heard from the hallway that the automatons came from within Pyrope earshot.
She couldn't help but chuckle as her remarks got a response by a audibly upset gem. Being a gem designed for simple purpose she always enjoyed getting a one up on science type gems (assuming from the drones this was indeed a techy). She waited with the drone in-hand for the gem to show themselves, leaning against the wall with a victorious grin on her face. She waited for the gem to finally get close, "Well, the gem does have a face. And here I almost expected another drone with a screen to meet me. I assume you're looking for this?" She help up the drone, still in her grip with dents visible on the exterior. "I'm more than willing to hand this back, if you wouldn't mind introducing yourself and why you were snooping. Or if you'd rather not..." She gave the thing another squeeze, visibly caving in the shell a slight bit further. All the while the grin never left her face.

"Oh this little shit wanna test me huh?" Obsidian feigned a nice smile to Pyrope. "I am Obsidian, A scientist from Homeworld and i was just looking for a place to gather some tech." Obsidian still had her hands on her data-pad, one wrong move and she'll order in either Dolomite, sugar, or her automatons which was going to be easy, seeing how cocky this gem was giving off.
"Now i am going to ask you the same question, what are you doing here and what is your name?" she said, feigning a polite attitude along with a calm look on her face.
"So then i can fucking put a dent into your gem once i get my hands on you." Obsidian angrily said in her mind
"Now was that so hard? A nice face-to-face interaction between gems, no screens required. Oh, and uh... sorry for any damage this thing suffered." She let go of the drone, letting it return to its business. Her smirk became less victorious and more friendly as she relaxed against the wall, "I suppose it would be rude of me not to share my name after all that ordeal. I'm Pyrope, lovely to meet you Obsidian. A pleasure to find a Homeworld scientist, hope I didn't interrupt your findings to much. All in good fun, right? Gotta be safe after all."
She took a moment to look Obsidian up and down, noting an interesting gem placement and apparent love for tech from her data pad. "I'll be honest, I wasn't here for any real reason. Just seeing if by any chance this place decided to start working. Of course it hasn't..." She looked around the structure again, a slight frown present, "Such a shame what happened here..."

Obsidian sighed, letting some frustration out before she get's pissed at the gem mere existence. "it's all right, As long any of my stuff was broken I am fine.." she said, seeing the small automaton have dents all around in it's metal frame. "Pleasure to meet you too Pyrope." she said calmly.
"Start working?" she said before she heard the rest from Pyrope. "Interest, care to tell me what exactly happened here or what the issue is?" she walked to where the communication hub panel was, and looked the outside of the panels. "So far i've seen no outside damage that could've hurt the wiring or circuitry" She looked back at Pyrope "Care to help me with this little issue we have here?"
Such a seemingly friendly gem was a breath of fresh air, most gems she met lately were either rebels or insane. Lucky for her she seemed to come across one of the few sane gems left on this planet. Although she couldn't help but blink a few times as she processed her request. Had she really not heard what happened here? Either she lived under a rock, which knowing their race wasn't that abnormal, or she had only recently came to Earth. Eventually she did speak up, "Well... I never saw it myself. But stories say that rebels disabled this place to keep any transmissions getting to Homeworld. Suffice to say, they were successful." Again she paused, did this gem really think she could fix this thing? Obviously she knew nothing about it herself, but this gem seemed sure she could do some good. Stumbling a bit in her excitement she stepped forward to assist however she could, "U-uh yeah, sure! You really think... Just tell me what I need to do and I'll do my best!" Maybe this was the turning point, reestablishing contact with the main force after so long!

"Can you peel off the crystal frames and pull out that cord over there, i need to be able to touch this without having the possibility of being harmed here." She said, bending over to the "circuit box" of the communication hub, she snapped her fingers, ordering the drone to cut thoroughly so she can see what did happen to the communication hub. "Hey Pyrope, tell me, what do you do back in Homeworld, what were you created for." she asked, curious of the Pyrope past Homeworld life. Obsidian would possibly take in another "assistant" in her small band, which means more protection from any rebel or corrupted monster, if anything she could possibly go order in a 5 vs 2 on those two stupid clods... or maybe more, after all, she needed anyone who opposed her or anyone who is too powerful to keep alive on her watch.
Moving as quickly as she could, not entirely careful in all her excitement, Pyrope did as Obsidian instructed her. She had no clue what she was really doing, but she never did really. Gems like her were made to take orders, not ask why. As she kept Obsidian out of harms way she continued their small talk, "To be honest... I never actually saw Homeworld. I was made on another colony and was sent here immediately." There was an obvious sad tone to her voice as she spoke about Homeworld, it felt like a right of passage she was never able to take. Grunting as she nearly ripped a panel off trying to move it she continued, "However, once here I was set onto guard duty like most pyropes of my class. Sort of a 'make sure nothing blows this up and ask no questions' sorta deal. Not exactly involved work. Or at least until things got... interesting here." Of course she was referring to the rebellion, more than a hint of disdain in her voice.
She pressed on, rather curious about this seemingly uninformed gem, "What about yourself? I know you mentioned being a scientist, but what brings you to Earth? Simply trapped, or do you have some other function?" Of course there was the possibility she enjoyed this planet, but something about her made that seem unlikely...

"Tis a shame you never saw your home." She added in to the conversation continually staring at the circuit box, examining it's insides and wiring. "It's a beautiful place really, Homeworld, A place like no other." she looked over to Pyrope "Did you shut down the power?" she asked, normally anyone would've got this part of the task done by now, it was simple as un-plugging the cords from the main source.
"Me? I was sent here under..."orders" of the Diamond Authority" Obsidian paused for a moment, thanking her little "talk" with White Diamond from before she left the planet did in fact worked. "I am to continue my work here on this miserable mud ball planet from this point on."
Pyrope stayed focused on her task, albeit her tone was quieter than before, "Ya... I really wish they let me off world just for a day. Just so I could see what it was like." She didn't bother to voice it, but it really did hurt to not have any memory of her heritage. So many gems spoke about how great Homeworld was, and yet here she was. Just a simple soldier, not fit enough to even go home for a day.
In her moping she almost forgot what she was doing, "Oh! Right, yes the uh..." She quickly pulled some sort of cable out, "Power, ya uh... got it." After he snap judgement she listened intently to Obsidian's story, noting the way she talked about Earth, "Not a fan of this planet? Can't say I'm massively keen on it but... it can grow on you..." An almost hint of a smile grew on her, but she remained on task, waiting for Obsidian's next instruction. She did have to inquire though, "Mind if I ask what your work is? I understand you're a scientist and all, but what does that entail? Most of the 'Blues' (Blue diamond gems) I met were just there to oversee injections. I can't imagine that's what you do." In truth, she didn't doubt Obsidian could do it, but all signs pointed that she was a cut above the basic technicians she interacted with.

"Despite what other scientist do, I create weapons or any machinery that helps protect or develop HomeWorld for a greater future!" Obsidian boasted about her work, being that said Obsidian went to work. She opened the circuit box, once opened a huge puff of black cloud exited from the box, blinding Obsidian for only a moment "Gah! How long has it been since this was even OPENED" she groaned, waving away the stench and mucky black cloud away from her face.
"I figured.. everything here is fried to a crisp, nothing salvageable" she muttered, plucking away the worn out wires and crystals that once rested in this machinery. "It looks like it'll take longer to fix." she mentioned to the other gem. "Looks like i have to replace EVERYTHING in this machine...unless" she scrambled to another area, looking for another panel, ripping it off completely with all her might she found the power core. She examined the power core before reaching to it, touching it's outside with her provoking she earned a warm touch when she placed her hand on the exterior of the power core "Good news, not everything here is fried to bits, help me out here!"
Staying motionless, Pyrope watched Obsidian work afraid that she might accidentally break something if she did anything. It crossed her mind that she had never met a weapon's specialist before, wasn't exactly something common around her parts of the Kindergarten. Though, despite her working with weapons mainly, she seemed to know her way around the panels. She moved over to assist her again, doing as she was instructed. She still had no idea what she was doing, but for whatever misguided reason she trusted this gem knew what she was doing. Not like they could make it any worse, right? the thing was already broken, and no one else was doing anything about it. "Well... at least we're making progress." There was a slight pause, "We are making progress, right?"

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
Orginal Opening Plot Here Thread That Changed Everything
Differances Between the Roleplay and the Show
*Thanks to Rose Quartz' message the Gems on Earth are entirely aware that the Homeworld Gems intend to wipe out the human race.
*The "corruption" is being treated like a virus due to lack of info about it on the show.
*Garnet, Pearl and Rose are assumed capture on Homeworld
*Garnet,Pearl and Rose broke the space warps to delay Homeworld
*Thanks to Roses Message gems now know what the Kindergarten was used for
