Amber watched the passing Quartz and the Rubies, though watched carefully as the clumsy mess unfolded. Her manufactured instincts, that is, the instincts behind her purpose, twitched on the inside as the Gems fell. She took a step forward, wanting to see if the Rubies needed any help. But they were common soldiers, and they could hold their own, couldn't they? Regardless Amber approached the group, and looked down at the fallen Ruby with gentle care. "Is all well?" she questioned, holding a hand out to help the soldier up. "What seemed to be the rush?" She addressed not only the fallen Ruby this time but the entire group -including Clear Quartz- this time. The small healing Gem wanted to make sure. It was her job, to help, and she wanted to prove herself, so she must help all she can and offer her assistance constantly. Like a good obedient Gem.
The other Rubies, who had stopped and turned to face their clumsier, fallen compatriot looked nervous as the Amber spoke to them, though they seemed reluctant to speak or break formation. The fallen Gem rubbed her knee with a grimace as she first glanced at the healer,"I-I.." she stopped, fro zen, as the comparatively colossal shadow of the Quartz fell over them all, half reaching for Amber's hand. "Get. Up." Came the command, terrifying in its brevity. "2FG is fine," the Quartzs said dismissively, casting a glance to this unknown Amber, "she just tripped. Again." their words rang out clearly across the wide, high corridor, their charges quivering with each syllable. "I'm not going to tell you again, 2FG. That is an order."
Amber looked up at the Clear Quartz with half a face of annoyance, and half a face of submissive obedience. This was mostly likely a Gem of higher ranking -she has Rubies after all! But that Ruby....
"That's okay," she said softly. She held her hand out again for the Ruby to take. Certainly Clear Quartz wouldn't be too mad for her helping her Ruby? After all, even if the Ruby was aided, she still got up. She searched the Ruby for any major injury -as was instinct to do, and seeing that she was clear she gave the small soldier a smile. She then turned to the entire platoon -including the Quartz- and gave a salute in respect... as well as apology.
Sulfur stepped out of the room. He staggered and seemed as if he was about to fall over. He didn't have any physical wounds, it must have been the prophecy he was told that was weighing heavily on his body and soul. His hair was messed up and in his face, he seemed frantic. He turned and noticed the Clear Quartz and amber. He brushed his hair out of his face and leaned on the wall, feeling uncomfortable to simply intrude.
"Um... excuse me?" He asked. "Would one of you lead me to Dock 528? I have to return to my diamond!" He gave a quick diamond salute but his body was shaking still. His eyes were wide also, the prophecy must have been about something deadly.
One almost wondered if 7XB's face ever bore anyway expression other than one of cold disdain, the Quartz half parting their lips to speak before their attention was pulled, cutting their frigid gaze towards the..what? A sulfur? Now that was a Gem you didn't see many of these days.. for one reason or another. "Eyyuck," was the sound that almost passed their lips, though it showed plainly upon their face before the conclusion of the Amber's apology pulled them back to attention, "Well, be sure it doesn't happen again." It seemed less dismissive, though altogether more disinterested, for one reason or another. "Rubies," they breathed, momentarily cutting their withering attention to the trembling platoon, "Docking bay. Now. " The tiny gems, including 2FG, who had recently came to their feet with the assistance of Amber, scrambled to march past their commander. "And 2FG.." they added as the named gem passed, pausing wearily.."We will discuss your lack ofcompetence later." With their charges out of the way, they direct themselves towards Amber again, their dismissing of the sulfur almost by design. "What are you doing here, anyway? Don't you have some other duties besides loafing around and tripping rubies? And you," they glance again to the gem quivering in the corner," where exactly do you think you're going?" A sulfur, of all Gems, going offworld? Ridiculous.
"I am currently awaiting my officers," Amber said with her head tilted high, though a timidness shone through as well. She honestly isn't as brave as she thinks she is. But... wasn't Amber being useful? Loafing around.... Loafing meant otherwise. The color drained from her face as she lowered her head slightly. How was she suppose to gain the attention of the higher ups and prove her worth if she was slacking? She didn't feel so sure of herself now, but she continued her sentence. "They are to meet me here and give me an assignment, as such I am... obediently carrying it out....." Was she?
She cast a glance to Sulfur, almost relieved to see that he made it out safely, but ashamed just the same to be embarrassed in front of him.
Sulfur glared at the Quartz. He was either not used to dealing with people like this, or he didn't know when to keep quiet. At any rate, he decided to intervene.
"Who do you think you are!?" He said pointing at her. "She doesn't work for you! You can't talk to her like that! Even your rubies! I understand that they are below you, but you should never treat them like that! I am a member of Blue Diamond's court! Back where I'm from we can get penalized for things like that!" He said sharply.
He approached the Quartz.
"She isn't loafing around by the way, she just led me here, I have never been to this area!" Sulfur snapped. "She was waiting somewhere else, probably where she should have been waiting. I just had to drag her away! If you're going to yell at anyone, yell at me!" He glared.
Mild awareness danced across the jasper's face as the realization that she had now been standing in the hallway for an awkward amount of time was beginning to set in. A few echoes resounded off the walls, and 82 glanced over towards the source. Her eyes fell upon a few gems, but quickly she noted the Quartz of the group had a few rubies in tow, one of which had previously been lying on the floor. Waves of embarrassment crossed its face rapidly, and were those tears? As the gem's heels clicked towards the small group, a bright green gem, now visible causing one's thoughts to drift towards a notion that he had only just arrived, stood a little ways away from the other gems in the small group. Finally, 82 picked up on a loud, anger-filled voice. "Who do you think you are?!" 82's face twisted into that of surprise, the warped into an expression of disgust. "She doesn't work for you! You can't talk to her like that! Even your rubies!" An audible gasp could be heard escaping the jasper if one was to listen hard enough. "I understand that they are below you, but you should never treat them like that!" the green gem had a predatory tone toward the quartz, and if it garnered anything at all out of the other, she definitely wasn't showing it.
"I am a member of Blue Diamond's court!" If anything, a surprised chuckle could've been heard if a certain rock wasn't till surprised They're wearing the Majesty's insignia all over their body! As if they would even be in Blue Diamond's Court! 82's face seemed to be stuck in a pained expression of disgust and confusion when the subconscious decision to move closer was made.
Like a gut punch knocking the air out of a pair of lungs, the corridor went silent, the Quartz's grey, cold eyes rolling, grinding towards the sulfur with an almost terrifying single-mindedness as that insubordination fell upon their ears.
How dare they.
A brief flash of white light illuminates the hallway for an instant and, unless otherwise halted, 7XB's gauntleted fist shot forward to grasp the sulfur by the from of their chosen clothing, "Why don't you say that.." they would move to easily hoist them up to eye level, easily a foot or two of the ground when dealing with such a mountain of rock,"..to my face, defect?" A soldier, through and through, their was no sin greater in their the Clear Quartz's mind than insubordination.
Sulfur became indignant and made a face of disgust. He hovered into the air quickly breaking free of her grasp and levitating. He floated in a circle around her with the occasional loop. He stopped when reclining on his back.
"I don't know how close I'd want to get to... a quartz. But if you insist..." He landed one foot at a time, slowly in a graceful way. He walked to her and looked her in the eyes. "I am a member of Blue Diamond's court and I will not tolerate insults from a quartz brute like yourself! Are we clear soldier!?"
He took a step closer so that his eyes were about an inch from hers.
"I am not a defect, for your information, I am the only Sulfur who is not a defect. I am actually, the image of perfection. As perfect as a diamond is to a quartz knight I am to a quartz like you..." He said, his face darkening. "You seem to think you have free reign over this place? You're not even from here. Based off of your uniform you work for yellow diamond. Why are you hear to drain our intelligence?"
The corridor's temperature seemed to drop a few degrees as 'defect' was emitted. After the initial shock, 82 calmed her nerves, and her expression changed into a somewhat humorous one. Finally becoming tired of just watching this unfold, she drew a little closer, seeing a with the drop in temperature, a rise in tension filled its space. Standing a good few feet away, she finally made herself known with a slick and almost taunting voice, which could cause a highly introspective bystander to assume she was only faking it. "Well, Sulfur, If you truly are a member of the Blue Majesty's Court, why are you wearing the insignia of the fair Yellow Majesty? Surely, A court member such as yourself would certainly be wearing at least SOME blue, no?"
Amber's gaze flicked back and forth between Sulfur and the Clear Quartz soldier. Her face heated up as the tension grew. "Guys..." she said with at first a feeble voice. When another voice -a Bumblebee Jasper- joined the crew, her face grew even more heated. She shuffled uncomfortably on her feet. "W-we don't need to fight. It doesn't matter who is from where, we're all here, and... it was just a simply misunderstanding, right? It's okay...."
In reality, Amber didn't wear a Diamond insignia if any sort; yet she was still claimed to Pink Diamond's division. Were insignias that important? They all knew who they belonged to. They all knew their purpose.
Were Ambers also responsible in stopping fights such as these? Was it in their domain of power? They're healing gems... could stopping fights prove to be a thing of healing? Or would fighting bring healing? No... their job was to PREVENT damage. So... no fighting? How could she drive them apart anyhow? Amber looked to the Rubies belonging to 7XB, as if they could provide any sort of aid to this situation -even though they most likely couldn't. She mouthed the word 'sorry' to them, seeming ashamed, partially blaming herself for this tense moment.
She shouldn't have stepped out of line.
She should've just let 7XB do her thing.
Amber looked to Sulfur fondly though. He had stood up for her? That wasn't something you see everyday here on Homeworld. Everybody had a place. Hers was below him. Yet he stood up for her....?
And what of the Rubies? The Ruby needed someone to stand up for her too.....
...No. This was the kind of thinking that created situations like these. The kind of thinking that promotes damage. Now it was her job to fix it.
Her face turned to the shorter Amber, and, placing her hands behind her back, approached her. Her voice began to become more and more unemotional and cold with every word uttered. Her shadow was cast down upon the quivering Amber, a dark space over the healing gem. "I would agree" she spoke to the gem before her before turning on her heel to address the rest of the small crowd. "That there has been a misunderstanding. A mistake made by this Sulfur who seems to believe he must be present, and that he is a member of the prestigious Blue Court-" the jasper advanced slightly towards him, her voice gaining a slightly dangerous edge, an edge one would pick up on if they were the observant type, though anyone could pick up on the scaling, genuine disdain as she continued."-when he lacks even the slightest tinge of blue. Nor, if I may add, does he conform with the mandated clothing style of the aforementioned court. So, do tell me. Who are you, anyways?" Her eyes were almost mere slits, a glare of irritation boring into the floating green gem, who even dared to mock a soldier.
Though the Clear Quartz was not one of those Gems so gifted as to be able to peer into the thoughts of others, they would have agreed with the Amber's current train of thought-as if it wasn't obvious already. And now, because of her needless interference, here they stood, wasting their valuable time with this.. this.. insubordinate little..
"Sulfur," they spat, eyes not even for a moment turning to, or acknowledging the trembling medical Gem, "You would do well, quite well, to remember your place. THIS is neither Blue Diamond's court nor do I see any of her-" and agsin 7XB found themselves interrupted, this time by a fellow Quartzite soldier-one of those newer Jasper's, bees or something, wasn't it? Their words ground momentarily to a halt, lips pulled unpleasantly as they returned a moment of attention to Amber, and a flare said everything there was to say, didn't it?
"This entire, inept display has been a waste of my time."
