Aboard the capital ship of the 78th Homeworld Naval Assault Fleet, an olive-colored Pearl hustled towards the main command spire, an intent look plastered on her face. She had recently been informed that there was unrest at the, in gem years, recent Earth colony, news which would no doubt displease the admiral. As she made her way towards the looming structure that overlooked the rest of the cruiser, the Pearl couldn’t help but notice the buzzing beehive that was the crew, inadvertently creating a somewhat melodic tempo of conversation, machinery, and movement. Stepping onto a circular lift that shone an emerald gleam in the artificial light, the Pearl rocked on her feet as the platform shot up towards the officers’ deck. A soft but pleasant ding rang throughout the space as the angled doors vanished from sight, the harsh silence of the deck sharply contrasting the orchestra hundreds of feet below. The Pearl anxiously stepped out of the lift as it shot back down to retrieve another passenger, striding nervously towards a large gem that glowed warm colors and seemed to radiate an aura of heat. “Quartermaster Topaz, I have urgent news from the Diamond Line.” The towering gem slowly looked over at the Pearl, and the room seemed to heat up as the dialogue continued. “There have been reports of a rebellion in the Sol system, specifically in the system’s tertiary planet, designated ‘Earth’. Military forces under the command of Yellow Diamond have already been dispatched to aid in the protection of both our assets and Pink Diamond, who is located on the sole moon orbiting the Earth.” The Topaz processed the information for several seconds, mulling over several options in her head before returning her hot gaze to the diminutive Pearl standing beneath her. “This is certainly unsettling news. I’ll relay it to the admiral. Dismissed, Pearl.” As the wiry servant made her way off of the deck, the Topaz rotated in her chair and opened up a holo-screen, upon which large words threw themselves in bold characters:
---------------------------Class D Transfer-------------------------------------------
After opening the file, the warm gem opened her mouth and began to speak in a deep, velvety tone. “This is Quartermaster Imperial Topaz of the Supernova class command frigate 83365743-2857G8H, designation ‘Omega Centauri’. Security Passphrase; Delta, Indigenous, Echo, Montague, Orchid, Nyx, Delta.” The Quartermaster wasn’t a fan of having to recite a code every single time she hoped to utilize the ship’s database, but it was necessary to prevent any of the lesser maintenance gems from messing with any of the more vital pieces of information buried within the servers. “I am formally requesting that Tennantite Cut 546-A3 Facet 8 and all of her assets, Rhodonite Cut 673-O9 Facet 12, and Russian Agate Cut 444-F4 Facet 4 be immediately transferred from the Omega Centauri to the tertiary planet Earth for emergency militaristic service. Attached to this communications relay are their portfolios. Ending transmission.” Topaz crossed her arms in the signature diamond outline as the connection fizzled out, slouching down in her chair as she pulled up the files on each of the gems she had just listed. The first two she found, Rhodonite and Russian Agate, were in perfect condition and were duly submitted. Tennantite’s portfolio, however, was missing from the shipwide database. ‘Probably deleted by a Peridot during that “accidental glitch” in system maintenance several cycles ago’, Imperial Topaz mused to herself as she began to type…
Name: Tennantite, Cut 546-A3, Facet 8
Appeared Gender: Female
Appeared Age: 20
Gemstone: Tennantite
Gemstone Location: Tennantite’s gem is located on her forehead, obscured from view by the rather large and bouncy bangs protruding out from her hood.
Corrupted: Tennantite has not fallen victim to this unsavory condition as of late, and, hopefully, never shall.
Appearance: postimg.org/image/yhuta7yvt/ Tennantite, with a Ruby for reference.
Personality: Tennantite, as I have come to know her as Quartermaster of this ship, is quite the curious gem. Upon joining our crew, Tennantite immediately set out to educate herself on the workings of many a system. This thirst for learning and knowledge, left unchecked, can cause problems, as has already happened on this ship. Tennantite exudes an aura of cheerfulness not many other gems in this crew can match, and also boasts an extremely optimistic attitude in the face of adversity, whether it be theoretical or physical. The small artificer will tend to float around haphazardly, surrounding herself with various automatons. Tennantite also, unfortunately, seems to have no restraint or morals whatsoever, defying the ship’s law several times in her experiments, cheerfully going off to be disciplined. It’s as if she knows our guidelines but doesn’t care. Exercise caution when sending her out of the shop, as it may be longer than expected for her to return. She is very obedient, however, to those that form a close bond with her. Pair her with a commanding officer she’ll enjoy being around, and you’ll see some of the best machinations this side of the Seventh Nebula.
Likes/Dislikes: Tennantite’s interests mainly pertain to pursuits in academia and shop, in things such as research and development, construction, testing, and a never-ending pursuit of knowledge. Tennantite also appreciates smalltalk with nearby gems in her free time, and is ever eager to try new things. The only notable thing that Tennantite dislikes are limitations. On anything. She will oppose them fiercely if they are imposed upon her and impede her creative freedom in any way. She also dislikes blatant, uninspired plagiarism in any form by anything, and is not a huge fan of direct combat, either becoming submissive when confronted or allowing her machinations to do the fighting for her.
Fears: I have not been able to notice Tennantite react fearfully to anything during her tour on this ship, although this is probably due to how little time I am in direct contact with the gem. Although, from what the Pearl has gathered from Tennantite’s shipmates is that she does indeed have fears. Useful Rubies. Continuing on, one can infer that Tennantite fears losing her work, both mental and physical, and being forced into direct confrontation. She also has a legitimate fear of being unable to design the perfect automaton some-time in the future, which almost always seems to be ‘the next project’. When questioned about the rebels earlier in the solar cycle, Tennantite seemed more curious than anything, as I have come to expect of her.
Weapon:(image to be inserted) As is usual of artificer gems of her caliber, Tennantite is unable to summon her own weapon, and is instead expected to construct her own means of defense. One such mean of defense has taken the form of her current escort, an armored knight dubbed ‘Yellow Sunstone’ by Tennantite. This being is the only vassal of Tennantite to not directly obey her, which is quite peculiar. I am not sure if this escort is a gem or an automaton, as it seldom speaks nor removes its helmet. It is brutally efficient, though. I’d recommend not attempting to separate the two, as previous attempts have resulted in multiple injuries and one casualty. (It is important to note that post strength only applies to Yellow Sunstone. Tennantite is indefinitely a power level one gem, to accentuate her fragility.)
Ability 1: Tennantite possesses the ability to store items in her gem, much like a Pearl. In this way, she is her own personal toolbox. And, on occasion, her own lunchbox as well.
Ability 2: Tennantite’s second notable ability is her metallokinesis; (Fpr those unfamiliar with the term, it means that one can control metals.) Her talents in metallurgy are somewhat limited; she can only control copper and it’s variations; This includes the various copper alloys, phosphor bronzes, aluminum bronzes, silicon bronzes, copper nickel, nickel silvers, and brasses.
Fusions: Seeing as how fusion is strictly against Homeworld law, Tennantite has not fused. Nor, do I think, does she have the time.
History: Tennantite was created in Facet 8 of the Prime Kindergarten on the city-planet Fretchnus; Her cut: 546-A3. Her entrance into this universe was one of dire necessity- the planet was desperately short of technological-type gems, and Tennantite was ushered out to cater to that need. And so the rather small gem spent the first hundred or so years of her life toiling away at whatever problems the city-planet happened to hurl up. Eventually, her curious nature led to her being somewhat problematic; This led to Tennantite being put under the command of, by circumstance, Rear Admiral Ferriclinoholmquistite. The naval commander had stopped by the planet to resupply, and relieved the planetside workforce of the cookies-and-cream hued woman. Luckily, Tennantite’s mischievous side was suppressed for a while as she learned the intricacies of everything on the ship; This included the ship itself, which became a sort of testing grounds to the inventor- much to the dismay of any nearby Rubies. It was on this ship, the Omega Centauri, that Tennantite was given the creative freedom she needed to fully showcase her talents. Quickly outperforming the other gems of her type on the ship, Tennantite seized unofficial control of the cruiser’s workshops. Thus began something short of a renaissance on the Omega Centauri, with Tennantite’s tutelage encouraging the rest of the inventors and artificers to innovate; This resulted in the Omega Centauri being the only Homeworld naval vessel to house a gem polisher. As time progressed, Tennantite began to amass a small garrison of automaton vassals, each insuring the security and safety of the work zone. It was roughly around the time Tennantite had neared the apex of her influence on the ship that Rose Quartz had decided it was a good time to go and mess eVeRyThInG up. As Homeworld’s military forces scrambled, Tennantite was ordered by the ship’s quartermaster, Imperial Topaz, to skedaddle on over to Homeworld’s establishments in the Sol system. And thus, the smol birb (term coined by Obsidian) finds herself and her small ship of wonders in new space with a veritable military sandbox to mess around in.
