It was a peaceful, serene day; with a gentle breeze rustling through numerous trees. Such noises were accompanied by the near-rhythmic crunching of dry leaves, that rang out with every step Ferroaxinite took. The gem knew this place as her home, ever since forsaking Homeworld nearly a year ago. It wasn't a choice she had made lightly, but one that she stood by - after all, she could never return home now. Sure, the destruction of the Homeworld warp meant it was physically impossible for her to return, but that wasn't the most important reason as to why she stayed on Earth. Even if she could go back, she would never choose to do so - after all, cross-type fusions like herself were strictly banned by Homeworld's society.
And so, she took up residence living in the forest that she currently stood within. Ferro had identified a warp pad nearby, but never dared to use it, instead keeping a close eye on what came through it. Up to now, that grand tally stood at zero, but she was always ready for what could come through it. Her time spent in her self-imposed isolation meant that Ferro had never even heard of the crystal gems, and instead believed that any other gem was likely hostile to her based solely upon the fact she was a fusion - in particular, one between a Ruby and a Pearl. What had started as an accident had blossomed into a loving relationship, one that Ferro refused to let be destroyed - and thusly she spent most of her time monitoring the aforementioned warp pad so that she may keep any potential threats at bay.
But even when Ferroaxinite wasn't occupying herself by standing guard, she never felt lonely - after all, the gems of which formed her had each other. Even the animals that inhabited the forest alongside the fusion offered her companionship, and none ever ran from her as they would a human, instead treating the Gem like another member of their pack; a relationship born from the fact that Ferro had never acted with ill will against them. Yet, beyond this, Ferroaxinite longed for the companionship of other gems, but given her belief that effectively all of them would be out for her blood, she didn't hold her chances in high hopes.
By now, the fusion had stopped her pacing, taking a moment to sit down. The place in which she rested was on a fallen tree, and every time she went for a walk, she would stop and sit on it, as she was now. With a smile, she sat back into a lounging position, taking in the atmosphere of the forest around her, and the calmness of it all.
