"I feel incredibly greasy," were the first words to pass 7XB's lips since they and Pyrope had boarded the cramped, rickity train that ferried them from Empire City, "Is everything on this planet so disgusting?" Upon first landing they quickly found themselves longing for the angular, gleaming landscapes of the Moon Base, and their pod was spacious in comparison to the railed can (dense with humans knocking into you..It made the quartz skin crawl) they had just exited, dumped off into a concrete slab lidded by too-short steel roof ridden with holes.
So this was Jersey? It was..Not much to look at; less impressive, in fact, than the City, but with more smog and oil slicks. "Same smell." They lamented gruffly, a greenish tinge lighting 7XB's cheeks as the salt wind whipped them with that horrendous odor.
Next time, they were wearing a mask. And the rebels LIVED with this?
The trip from Empire City was not exactly a simple affair, not for Pyrope at least. Not being well versed in human transportation made for a difficult time when trying to move around from place to place. Their ways of travel were... primitive, not to mention over complicated. Without realizing it Pyrope agreed with XB, this 'Jersey' was not nearly as impressive as Empire City. Was this perhaps a beta city? She was aware that Homeworld sometimes made lower quality kingergardens when there was a need for some quick gem production.
Pyrope glared at the humans that bumped into her as they exited the train, these ones seemed awfully rude compared to the other ones she had met... "I'm not so sure I like this place." She hopped off with XB, "I don't know this city nearly as well, but with this guide I believe we can manage. Shall we get going?"
So this was Jersey? Howlite had heard rumours of loyalist activity in Jersey. He didn't know how or when or who. Just a hunch. Naturally he had to investigate. Once he reached the city he saw a train station. "Hmmmmm.... Could be transport. I'd better scan it." He took a look with his Tracker Vision and saw 2 figures on the train. Gems. One appeared to be a Quartz but the other? It was unknown to him. He decided to play nice at least until he determined their faction. He quietly approached the pair. "Why hello there! Name's Howlite! And you are?"
In the short time they had known each other, 7XB and the Pyrope fusion had never been as in sync as they were in this moment, as unknown as it was to the both of them. Something about the misery of this planet, perhaps, put them on the same wavelength. Maybe something good would come from this hovel, though: this greasy human den was sure to attract some dredges.
Rebels among them, if they were lucky.
"Yes, let's get moving," they affirmed with a quick nod, a long, swooping lock of bone-white hair falling between their eyes, "just..Try not to step in anything. If you can help it." Irritated fingers grasp the hair and gingerly place it back where it belonged. A distracting event, apparently, for it almost causes the quartz to miss the approaching Howlite, taking a step forward, Infront of the fusion in an almost protective gesture- despite their apparent friendliness the Howlite's intentions were unknown, and Pyrope wasn't exactly a quartz, was she? "Designation, Howlite." They demanded immediately, their thin brow perked in distrust. No chances this time. "Now." It was unfortunate that 7XB was already irritable from their last unpleasant encounter.
Pyrope wasn't sure was surprised her more, this 'Howlite' making a sudden greeting or XB stepping forward to seemingly protect her. She raised her eyebrows in a sort of pleasant surprise, letting XB do the initial talking. She crossed her arms and puffed herself up, "Please do comply. It's been a long trip here..." The last thing she wanted right now was an extended interrogation, especially in such a... lousy location. While XB did the talking Pyrope took the time to look this new gem up and down, getting a read on them while she could focus. Judging by his clothing he was likely a rebel, or at the very least one of the odd neutral gems. Such clothing was much more natural of humans than gems.
"Ah yes of course. Howlite Facet 57ZD Cut 9XR at your service. I'm just came here to chill when suddenly I ran into you. Rather fortunate. It's always good to meet new allies." Then Howlite grinned and turned towards town. "I suppose I could take us out for drinks if you're willing. But if this is a business type deal then I can help out as well. I happen to be a master of interrogation." He then leaned in on Purpose with an evil smile. "I can be quite persuasive." He then straightened back up. "So what'd you say? Can I tag along?"
7XB's face contorted into a rather distasteful cowl, glaring down at the intrusive Howlite, a gem that clearly had little knowledge of personal space. "We are Gems," they replied icily, placing the gauntleted knuckles of their right hand upon the small gem's chest, pushing them away until their arm was fully extended, "we do not..DRINK, Howlite." Already the quartz was suspicious of this gem, and their apparent humanization only fueled that fire. "You two," they began again, eyes flitting towards the direction of the unseen fusion behind them, "ever seen this gem before? Familiar to you?" They had been on that planet the longest, after all, but they weren't very hopeful. If this odd little gem had known Pyrope it would have been obvious long before now. No, they were just annoying.
As soon as it had begun, the subconscious connection XB and Pyrope shared ended there, as she was rather taken by the idea of getting something to drink. Although she did blush a dark crimson as he leaned in with that smile, unsure if it was a threat or something more... suggestive. She just recovered from her fluster as XB addressed her, "Uhm, I don't believe so XB. But if I could mention, a skilled interrogator would be very useful to our efforts. It is up to XB here whether you follow Howlite. Although..." Going back on the offensive she looked Howlite up and down, ".. your choice of clothing is interesting. What is your affiliation?" She glanced over at XB, hoping she wasn't overstepping her duties by asking questions.
"My faction? Easy... Don't have one. The only reason I wear this stupid star is so that the rebels don't confuse me for a loyal. But I am in no way one of them." He then smiled at 7XB. "I don't care if you're loyal or rebel. If you need my skill set I am happy to provide. I typically side with loyals more simply because of convenience. Plus the rebels typically don't require my services due to it being inhumane." Then he focused back on Pyrope. "I don't wish to be a burden. I actually can be quite enjoyable." He smiled at her as he considered this partnership.
The Quartz commander's expression was unchanged, unaffected, by either of them, their entire form visibly bristling at the presumptuous nature of this star-marked annoyance before them. "You are much to trusting, fusion." They cut icily, removing their hand only now from the Howlite's chest, their yellow star visible for the first time to 7XB. "You think you get to choose, is that it, Howlite?" They bulldozed onward," You think you get to decide who and when you work for? Huh?" Their temper seemed to truly climb, much different than the simple irritation of moments ago. A proper gem shouldn't have to decide, to choose a side. There were only, after all, two choices, in the entire universe: Homeworld, and everything else.
In their mind, 7XB had already decided which of those categories this one fell into.
Pyrope slunk back as things quickly became heated, or at least XB did. She wasn't a fan of their 'black or white' view on things, not that she would say so of course. You made a lot more enemies than allies thinking as such, especially on a planet so contested as this one. She did try to pipe up towards the end, "Uhm... XB? I believe you'll find plenty of gems here are not a loyalist or a rebel. Many have gone towards a neutral stance in Homeworld's absence. I think if given the option though, many would flock back. Just like Howlite here, correct?" She gave him a sort of intense look, trying to signal she was giving him a way out of XB's accusations. Besides, she couldn't blame a gem for stepping away from duty after so long alone. She did the same after all...
"Of course I would. Once Homeworld actually gets here, then I'll get back to work. Think of this as... I'm partying until the boss comes back. Once my Diamond actually arrives, yeah I'll become loyal again. Until then..." He made that smile at Pyrope again. "I'm gonna have some fun." He was being honest. If Homeworld did come back he'd probably become loyal. But at this point it seemed that they were not coming for a very long time. So why not let loose a little? While the boss is away Howlite will play.
"And is that supposed to make it okay?" 7XB demanded incredulously, actually physically turning away from the interloper towards the Pyrope fusion, " That's not how it works! Loyalty isn't a..A..mask you can take on and off whenever youlike. They hadn't really locked horns too much in the short period since they has met one and another, but some terrible combination of the terrible trip here and annoying Opal from earlier had shortened their fuse dangerously.
Clearly they were rapidly getting angry, perhaps unnecessarily so, a dark blue flush splashing color across their bleached skin, their version of going red, clearly. "Every. Single step of the way I've dealt with your commentary and yo..Your.. insubordination!" They were practically barking at this point. "Well, Ive.Heard ENOUGH from you."
Initially Pyrope's reaction was rather fearful, reeling backwards from XB's verbal assault. Her submissive training kicked in as usual, simply taking the abuse in shocked silence. She was just trying to help after all, just as she was brought on to do. Her silence continued for the most part, XB was technical correct after all. Truly loyal gems couldn't just pick and chose when they listened, they were here to do their job no matter what. But then XB started to get aggressive, and a switch seemed to flip in her head...
Pyrope stopped backing off and her expression became gradually more upset. The moment XB stopped talking Pyrope exploded, "Well you know what I think?!" she jabbed a finger at XB, "I think you are the most useless, dull headed, unskilled, loud mouth rock Homeworld has every wasted resources on!" Ignoring their guest Pyrope continued without pausing for breath, "Of all the gems for the Diamonds to send they send the most socially inept hunk of dirt they could find and threw them on this forsaken planet! I have done nothing but support you and this mission, being the one and only gem here who has an ounce of people skills! If you hadn't found me, I bet that Opal would have shattered you right then and there!" She rubbed her temples in annoyance, "Yes, I understand that it is the farthest thing from your understanding that a gem could leave their post but newsflash! You have never experienced what we have here, you have never been without connection to the authority for years! You can't possibly blame a few gems going a little native when they haven't had so much of a single transmission because those rebels, that mind you we are both against, destroyed our only means of communication! So if you want this mission to succeed, and to actually be of some use to the diamonds, perhaps you try and not piss off every gem you come across!"
Pyrope huffed and puffed trying to catch her breath, calming down slightly with a more sad tone than anything, "Because right now, between you and me, we loyalist are without many friends here. Making enemies of the few aligned with us would be the dumbest move possible."
Howlite watched as the 2 gems argued. Pyrope was correct of course. XB's problem was that he couldn't work with people. He was a Howlite and he had better social skills. And that was saying something. Once Pyrope finished Howlite stepped in. "Okay okay, let's just take a step back. We're all friends here. Pyrope, XB is just a little worried that I'm neutral for now. It's not his fault that he's incapable of thinking for himself like I can." He turned to XB. "And you, she's got a point. I'm probably your best shot at getting any information from rebels. So I say we all just calm down and start fresh." He then took a deep breath. "Hi I'm Howlite. I believe we got on the wrong foot earlier." He held out his hand for a shake to XB. XB did know what a handshake was right?
Melody: "The fight system of this site is really Ehh..." Well... how would you improve it? ^^

Flurry: I think that theres not much that can be done in just, regular rps, I think before a fight both sides should agree to do it, and decide the winner based on logic, because otherwise we're doing this "Hey im really cool" thing that goes back and forth
Oct 14, 2019 19:51:03 GMT
Flurry: I made Flurry cause id rather have a support/non fighting character anyway
Oct 14, 2019 19:51:31 GMT
Chip the Fire Opal: I have Chip who is a killing machine... and Sapphire who couldn't fight a broom

Light: so... You think the fight system is bad, but you also don't know how to improve it? I understand what you are trying to say, but it is something that roleplayers should take care of. Admins can only tell you that the way you play is wrong or ban

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
