7XB was a multi-faceted gem; That was, to say, that they possessed many outstanding qualities that made for a good Quartz soldier. Unfortunately, they also had a rather quickly temper and a slow cool-down time. A less desirable quality, but one expected in a Quartz. The fusion's rebuttal had them reeling, practically threatening to froth at the mouth until the onlooking Gem's interruption tugged at their attention just long enough for the red they were seeing to begin the process of dissipation.
"Butt out." They dismissed carelessly, looking the smaller gem up and down as there continued to hold that odd salute: one hand held out towards them. Turning back to Pyrope, they already seemed to have come down several tiers, though their expression was still quite sour. After a slow, measured breath, it seemed progressively less so. "Look," they insisted hushedly at the conclusion of said breath, "this is..A unique situation, alright? This planet it..I don't know what it's doing to these gems.." they seemed rather concerned at this, almost morbidly so, and one could wonder if it was strictly in reference to the gems rebelling against Homeworld. "Whatever it is, we have to maintain SOME sembelence of structure until we get everything under control. We're HERE. Aren't we?" Homeworld was back, and nobody seemed particularly relieved or welcoming. That was what concerned them. It made them feel on-edge, "That opal, do you really think he wasn't a rebel?"
Pyrope held her arms crossed in a very defensive stance, glaring at XB with a little bit of a pout. While she was starting to calm down she didn't want to admit it so quickly, part of her was still hurt by the fact her loyalty was in question. Once XB finished she let out a sigh, "I understand this is new to you, and I'm sorry that you've been thrown into an uncertain situation, but you need to understand that that's what we've been living with for years now. Initially we tried to keep together and maintain order, but with no reinforcements and an entire rebel aligned planet we didn't exactly have a choice but to lay low. Some of us gave up hope and the line between loyal and rebel blurred. But..." She uncrossed her arms and gave XB a look of determination, "...Homeworld is here, and now order can be restored. But you have to understand that some gems will need some coaxing before falling back in line. They have to believe that things aren't going to just go down hill again, that we can actually win this fight. As for that Opal, I'm not so certain. I don't think he was a rebel, I think perhaps that 'Morion' he works for is simply taking his own territory while Homeworld wasn't looking. But I am sure they, along with many others, will return back to our ranks once we can regain control of the situation. And I think, Howlite here is an excellent start. Perhaps... perhaps you may even owe an apology...?" It seemed far-fetched, XB didn't seem like the kind to back down, but it would go a long way to show her commitment to taking this seriously.
Howlite froze when Pyrope mentioned an apology. "Me? An apology? No one's ever apologized to me before. I've always had to apologise for myself. 'Sorry I'm defective' 'Sorry I'm different.' you know the usual stuff you get when Peridots screw up. Worst part is, they didn't get punished for it. It was simply 'a manufacturing error' like I'm a package or something. I spent my whole life with gems like XB putting me down. An apology would just make my day." He then gave her a charming smile. "You're a nice gem Pyrope. Clearly your Peridots knew what they were doing."
"An apology?" 7XB echoed with a furrowed brow, cutting a glance towards the Howlite as they perked up at the mention of it, a brow steadily raising as he began to talk and..Talk, lips pulled into a rather uncomfortable grimance. What was it with all the editorializing that so many gems seemed predisposed to?
"Are you serious?" If the fusion thought they were going to apologise to this, little..'unaffiliated' gem than one or both of her gems must've been cracked. In their mind, that would be condoning their disloyal actions, and the last thing the Quartz soldier wanted to do was encouraged them.
But if it would keep the fusion on task, perhaps they could conjure up something, but they wouldn't like it; Clearly exasperated, their attention turned from the double red gems to Howlite, "You, while clearly lacking in loyalty..May not be a rebel," the phrase was pushed past their lips unwillingly, sour on their lips though it may not be a truly apology, "Happy?"
She was skeptical at first, it seemed XB wasn't going to make the effort to meet her halfway. She held a glare at them, not exactly expecting much. But she was pleasantly surprised and an actual smile broke across her face, "Heh... I hope that suits you just fine Howlite I think that's about as good as you're going to get..." She held out a hand to XB, "Thank you. Now, with that behind us, shall we get to work and save this planet? We have our work cut out for us." Just as soon as she was feeling confident Pyrope was again thrown off by Howlite. A light blush covered her cheeks again, "And... t-thank you Howlite." It wasn't often she got compliments like that...
"I suppose that'll do. Now then, what exactly are we doing? If it's rebel tracking I have a couple of ideas." He then heard her thank him. "No problem I just call it as I see it." He then scanned the area. No signs of danger anywhere. That was good. Very good. "Well if you are hunting for rebels you're gonna have to flush their quarry so to speak. That means that you have to chase them out of their hiding place. Now since this is Jersey we won't find too many but there may be a few around here and there." He then smiled as he thought about this. He got to hunt Crystal Gems alongside Homeworld gems. "Lead the way Pyrope."
If it was somehow not abundantly clear by their rather..Forced apology, the Quartz was not at all fond of Howlite, for one reason or another; They couldn't really put their finger on it, truth be told, so perhaps it wasn't entirely fair. But such was the way of the world, or rather, such was 7XB's world, serious as it was.
As Pyrope moved to lead, 7XB trailed, intent on at least walking alongside them: THEY were in charge of this operation, after all. As they did, they brushes past the Howlite with a bit of unnecessary force, but likely not enough to knock them down, unless they were especially fragile. "A tip," they grumbled sourly to Howlite, " talk less." Clearly, they were still a bit sour from the verbal dispute moments before, and earlier; This was evident by their chilly glances towards the other gems as they pushed their way through the sea of smelly, sweaty, oily humans, scurrying out of the path of the bulky Quartz's path long before they needed to, parting like a sea.
"Well, as I said before I don't know this city very well. But I will get us further towards the center before we figure out our next plan of action." She pressed on, noting XB walking alongside her as they pushed (literally) passed humans as they progressed. Despite XB's reluctance, it did please Pyrope that they were at least willing to somewhat budge. Working with a brick wall wouldn't get them far, not on this planet. If XB could adapt they could do much more good here, and now she was fairly certain they could. "If Howlite here is at all familiar with this city than it might be smart to use that to our advantage XB, as much as I wish I could guide us all the way I'm not skilled in navigation and the information Chip gave us was very rudimentary. It's very possible we could get lost..."
As XB told him talk less, he whispered back to him. "Do you think you scare me?" Then as Pyrope addressed her problem Howlite spoke again. "Yeah I'm pretty good with it. Just give me a second to find my bearings. I need a bird's eye view." He looked around and saw a nearby tree. "I'll be back." He sprinted towards the tree then climbed it all the way to the tallest branch. Then he stood on it and scanned the area with his Tracker Vision. From this height he could see nearly everything. He spotted a large signature a few clicks north. He leaped down from the tree and ran back to Pyrope. "Well best bet would be about 3 clicks just north of here. There's a lot of humans which could lead us to gems. What'd you think?"
Whether or not the tedious little would-be traitor feared them or not didn't matter, really, though 7XB would have preferred it. No, what matters is whether or not they got results, and how quickly: the Quartz was tired of the delays, the interruptions, and most of the humans. The sooner they could recover all of the loyal gems trapped on the planet the sooner they could begin dealing with the insurrection in earnest. It wouldn't take long, and then work could resume on the Earth's surface.
And the humans, well, they would be gone soon after, in the grand scheme, save for those Pink Diamond, in her wisdom, saw fit to save for posterity.
But of course, EVERYTHING came to a halt yet again as Pyropes humored Howlite, leaving the two of them standing there in the human swamp. "I don't like this plan, Fusion," they expressed with a sour grumble as their newfound companion scurried up the nearest tree, arms crossed over their chest, "Can't just trust any gem that walks by branded like a traitor." They were still rather grumpy about it, but the other wouldn't be out of earshot long enough for the argument to flare up again, thankful. "And it's like it thinks you're in charge. Pff." The very nerve of the idea. It was ridiculous.
Pyrope stopped and had to stop just short of glaring, it took a moment for everything to kick in. She calmed down and sighed, "You're right XB. No offense Howlite, but we can't blindly take your directions so quickly. And XB is indeed in charge here, not me. I'm just the extra muscle here, XB is the brains. Although they are not without brawn themselves." She nodded towards XB, trying to play the neutral party as best as possible. "I will say though, it is logical. Rebels do like these humans for some reason, as before with Empire City they will be at major population centers." She purposefully didn't mention the fact that they didn't actually find a rebel that time but how unlucky could they really be twice in a row.
When Pyrope said XB was in charge he laughed. "I'm sorry. I'm expecting to believe that HE is in charge of YOU? Not buying it. You're clearly the superior of the two." Then she commented about humans. "Eh. I can understand why they do. It's not that I like humans, I simply like some of their products. A rebel once told me that the reason he liked them was because they had a choice. They could do anything they put their mind to. That's something we've never had. Personally I could careless considering that they're gonna be the first to go once Yellow Diamond arrives." Then he looked around one last time. "Lead the way XB" he snickered at that last comment.
It was strictly for Pyrope's sake that they both curbed their temper and continued to tolerate the disrespect of such a clearly defective gem, but there was only so much unending insubordination; In an instant the Quartz's face nearly turned sapphire with rage, turning on a dime towards Howlite before the other gem could finish their condescending sentence, "What did you just call me?" They demanded explosively, lips pulled back viciously, a mask of pure rage. A flash of hardlight brought their gauntlets into existence before there was even time to clench their fists, an instinct gesture when the quartz commander when they grew this heated, "Some defective little traitor is going to laugh at me? ME!?" There was more than that to it, of course, something equally insulting and far more irritating. "I'm one of Yellow Diamond's commanders, you insolent , miniscule little waste of resources!" Surely even the fusion didn't expect them to tolerate this?
Pyrope stopped in her tracks, a bit of a glare actually started to form towards Howlite although XB beat her to it. Once XB got her two cents in and seemed ready to poof Howlite right then and there she spoke up, "While you may not like XB, you will show all due respect Howlite. That much is not optional, no matter what your opinion is. It still stands that XB was chosen directly by the diamonds for this mission, and is far more qualified than I am. I'm but a pyrope, little else than a security guard. I believe it is now you who owes an apology." While she made no aggressive movements her glare made it clear she was not willing to budge on this, nor did it seem she was intent on stopping XB from letting loose on him.
Howlite took a breath as xB and Pyrope both got onto him. "I suppose you're right. I apologise. Look I've been on my own for almost a year now. I do whatever I want and take orders from nobody. Now that you two are here, I'm just having a tough time going back to the chain of command. I apologise it won't happen again." Howlite frowned as he finished. He couldn't believe they got onto him for that. It made much more sense for Pyrope to be in charge. She actually had an ounce of people skills. Howlite always had a problem with authority. Even back on Homeworld. The only reason he did what he was told was out of self preservation.

Flurry: I think that theres not much that can be done in just, regular rps, I think before a fight both sides should agree to do it, and decide the winner based on logic, because otherwise we're doing this "Hey im really cool" thing that goes back and forth

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
