To their credit, 7XB was truly trying to avoid unnecessary confrontation, despite how much they yearned for it. They were no Sapphire, their skills lent themselves to a more..Aggressive style of negotiation, but for the sake of the mission, and perhaps the Fusion as well, they were giving it a try.
It was not going well.
Just as Pyrope appeared in the Quartz peripheral vision the top of the Variscite's head collided with their skull, a wave of stars and dark spots enaminating out from the point of contact, a loud pain reverberating through their head; They were caught off guard, to say the least, fingers loosening their grip just enough to allow the smaller gem his freedom. Now they were seeing red, slapping their palm against their forehead to quell the aching, every fiber in their body eager to strike. "Why you, YOU!..augh."
For a moment Pyrope actually thought Varis might listen and they could avoid all this nonsense, but a slow realization overcame her as soon as she saw that smirk. All she could do was think to herself, Don't... but it was already too late. She winced at the headbutt connected, that couldn't have felt pleasant. Her attention still stayed on Varis however, even now refusing to summon her weapon until Varis really went on the offensive. Then he said it...
"...I don't plan on g-getting cracked again..."
The glare Pyrope held was instantly replaced with shock, her eyes went wide in amazement that he actually went there. For a moment she didn't believe it, but moments later her lip actually began to quiver and her eyes watered. Not even a few seconds later her form began to glow and loose its shape. When the light settled Pyrope was no longer standing there, instead in her place was Pye and Pyre. Pye stared on at Varis, he hands shaking and lip quivering. Pyre on the other hand was looking at Pye with a panicked look. For a moment Pye held Varis' gaze before she broke down into tears and ran from the group. Pyre called after her, "Pye, wait!" But she was already gone.
Pyre stared off at Pye as she retreated for a while before turning to Varis with a furious glare. He stomped up to Varis with his fists clenched, not caring if he made a swing or not. He reached up and grabbed at Varis' collar, attempting to pull his face down to eye level where he could almost see the fire in his eyes. Pyre spoke in a quiet hiss through his teeth as if he was barely containing himself, "You are going to go apologize to Pye right now, or getting cracked is going the leastof your worries..." He wouldn't let go until Varis either forced him to or he agreed.
When Pyrope unfused, he blinked a few times to be sure he was seeing right. This gem had hurt her. Them? He'd figure it out. He walked over to the one called 'Pye' and sat next to her. "How ya feeling? You know if I were you, I wouldn't take that from him. What ever happened wasn't worth using against you. Any warrior who relies on guilt as a weapon is a coward. Look, I won't attack him as you requested. But know this, all you have to do is give me the order. I'd make sure he never says a hurtful thing to you or your partner ever again. Just a suggestion." He wished he were better at consoling gems. Sure he was a charmer but when it came to helping someone feel better? He was useless. He just wanted to help this gem.
Cringing after the headbutt... his own was ringing but enough blows to the head has made him grow semi accustom to this, not that he very much liked it but other gems seemed to dislike it more then himself. He was confused a bit, it only dawned onto him now that maybe the fight had ended after he escaped the Howlite. The last few times he ran into Homeworld gems that tried to play nice only turned on him... really short of Pyrope being the only one... two.
"Uh... I think I m-migh-" he was stopped by Pyrope. When he glanced at her, he figured they would still have their normal almost stone face or maybe a face twisted with some kind of rage for him for being such a clod. That was not the case, she looked... sad? They looked like they were about to cry?! Then the... separated.. crap.
When they would do this, Varis was use to seeing a happy-go-lucky Pye, all smiling and bubbling over with excitement, and Pyre would normally seem... mad, to say the least. Pye looked like a cross of wanting to hit Varis and wanting to cry, Pyre looked in such a panic... then very mad. Varis had lost all defense, his guard was down and anyone could have shot at him or clocked him, he had realized he botched the whole thing. Snapping back just in time for Pyre to grip him by the collar of his hoody, dropping to his knees right away, being eye level with the smol firey red gem. "I-I di-didn't mean it like.." He felt like such an ass... far beyond clod at this point.
"You are going to go apologize to Pye right now, or getting cracked is going the least of your worries..."
Varis only looked down, part of him was still waiting for the Quartz was going to drop him any moment. "Y-Yea.... I will... s-sorry to uh... you too Pyre. I didn't mean it.... like th-that." Once being let go from their grip and standing back up. Before he could even make his way to Pye he saw the Howlite ran off after her already, they might have been closer friends then him and Pye, he didn't want to interrupt them. Looking over towards 7XB Varis rubbed the back of his neck, running his fingers over his gem. He could feel the scratches and buffs across his gem in doing so.
Taking a few steps closer towards 7XB, not getting too close, staying a few feet away, "I uh.... I'm sorry... the fighting st-started and I just kinda.... y-yea..." He didn't have much to say for his own stupidity. Not even putting up any kind of guard if the Quartz was gonna throw a punch or anything, not like he didn't deserve it after all.
7XB could hardly hear the Variscite's hollow excuses over the loud, pulsing throb in their skull, the red they were seeing lending a dangerous fire to their normally-dull granite eyes as they practically snatched Varis out of his shoes by the front of his hoodie again. This would likely draw the diminutive Pyrope into a the air as well, if he hadn't let go by then. The entirety of their substantial form spasmed with a poorly contained rage.
They were silent, burning through the offending gem with that withering gaze, the red that tinted their view lending a rare fire to their dull, granite eyes; a low heat threatened to Kindle in the hand by which Varis dangled. When finally they spoke, it was with great difficulty, each word trembling fearfully, enunciated to the utmost extreme. "You," they oozed threateningly, "should count yourself..INCREDIBLY lucky.." both their skull and jaw still pulsed and ached, making the conclusion of their diologue even angrier, "that my rescue mission takes priority over my desire to launch you into the nearest star.." they were, by this point, even angrier than before, nostrils flaring like a bull ready to charge.
Pyre calmed down slightly, speaking a bit more clearly although the rage hidden under the surface was obvious, "It doesn't matter what you meant, what matters is that you made her cry. So don't apologize to me, say it to h-" He was caught off guard as XB pulled Varis up from the lowered position Pyre had him in. For a moment he held his grip, being taken a little bit off the ground before letting go and falling back down. He watched XB cautiously, surely they were going to knock his head off after the stunt he pulled. Yet, very much to his surprise, XB managed to stay under control of themselves. He'd have to commend them for their newfound patience, but for now his eyes drifted to Pye who had seated herself a good ways away from the group. And with her was Howlite... "I don't care for that Howlite." He spoke to no one in particular, "Too much of a charmer." Was he... jealous?
Meanwhile, after putting some distance between herself and the others Pye set down at the curb of the nearby road. Her hands covered her eyes as she tried to mask her tears from passing humans. Initially she didn't react to Howlite approaching her, but eventually she did wipe her eyes and look up at him, "I'm alright it's just... it's complicated. We accidentally hurt him a while back, I suppose he has the right to be mad at us. I thought we made amends but I guess a dumb clod like me can't help but mess things up again with all this Homeworld business." She wasn't crying anymore, though she did sad snort that broke up the relative silence. She ended up glancing back at the rest of the group through the constant stream of humans passing by, "Even if he's not terribly happy with me I don't want him to get hurt. Hopefully XB lets him off easy... thanks though." She flashed him a weak smile, while Howlite was rather blunt with his methods the sentiment was appreciated.
Howlite looked at her when she called herself a clod. "Don't start that. Trust me, you're no clod. He is. Not you. Look, I know what it's like to get kicked around. I've been kicked all my life. But that's cause they thought I deserved it. But you? No one could do that to you. You don't deserve that. I'll handle this." He approached the angry XB. Here goes nothing. "XB! As you're superior, I order you to stand down! I am an Elite under Yellow Diamond's Court!" He stood between him and the rebel. "If you wanna hurt him, you gotta go through me first!" He knew this idea was crazy. But hey, crazy was his thing. Anything to fix this situation. He then grinned at the one called 'Pyre'. "I got this. I'd go check on Pye." He then prepared for the worst as he openly defied the Quartz.
Being as 7XB was holding Varis up in the air, there was little possibility for the annoying little Gem to come physically between them. They had yet to do the Varis any harm, and did not plan to for what it was worth, a claim neither the Howlite or Variscite could make. The defect had been the cause of this whole encounter, jepordizing the mission in some inane attempt to show off and take control. What they might have forgotten, however, was how long they had been out of touch with Homeworld, and that 7XB was their only potential way back. And yet again they had made themselves the focus of the Quartz fury, rightfully so. "You're cracked if you think you have any authority over me, or this mission, you miserable, insubordinate little traitor." Their words came venomous as they, of their own accord, released Varis, though it was more of a 'fling' due to their heightened angry, knocking them back a few feet- otherwise harmless. "You've disobeyed a direct order several times from the commanding officer of this mission. Severely jepordizing our primary objective. There are two witnesses who would be foolish to deny it. We aren't here to FIGHT, you idiot."
"You're out of line, and I think Moon base command will see it that way in my report." When I report your dishonorable actions, or defection, either one. "So maybe we should take you into custody until the Manager decides how to proceed." 'Elite.'
Pyre could see Howlite approaching, silently glad he had left Pye alone. He was about to go run off to her, until he saw Howlite square up and address XB. He could do nothing but slap him palm into his face, "You dolt..." He really didn't think Howlite would pull that card like this, especially after making this mess in the first place, but this had to wait. With Varis free and Pye alone he grabbed on Varis' sleeve and dragged him to her, "Now you cheer her up, because I can't stand to see her like this! And since you made this my problem, I'm making this your problem."
Upon them reaching her Pye kind of jumped, surprised to see Varis approach her after that display. When Pyre spoke he was rather nervous, "Hey Pye, you uh... you alright?" "Oh uhm... h-hi Varis. Yeah, I'm... I'm fine." Clearly she wasn't, but Pyre wasn't good with these emotional talks. He had no idea how to proceed so instead he nudged Varis in the back to push him forward. Pye was actually the one who initiated the conversation, although she seemed unusually shy. Her eyes stared at the floor to avoid his, "Sorry, we didn't mean to get in your way again, we didn't mean any harm. I'll make sure it doesn't happen again..." Her hands fiddled with the ends of her hair, this whole thing was painful for her but what else could Varis have wanted?
XB decided to threaten him. Now at this point, any sane gem would apologise or flee. "Ha! That's rich! You see here's the deal buddy. You could report me for defection or even treason. Sure no one would stop you. But then again that would even further stall your ever so important operation would it not? Listen junior, I only did this to help a friend. If you truly think I'm in the wrong for sticking up for someone." He glanced at Pye then back at XB. "Go ahead. Hit me." He spread out his arms. "That is the Quartz way isn't it? Just hit whoever angers you without once considering why the actions were taken right? So go ahead. Hit me. Report me. Frankly I don't care at this point. I did what I intended to do so I'm at peace." He turned to Pye and Pyre. "Sorry Pye. I tried my best. At least I got the gem safe right?" He chuckled then focused back on XB.
So much was happening at once, Varis felt alittle lost in the confusion. The Quartz was very mad... like it looked like teeth-shatteringly mad... did that blow hurt that much? Maybe he still doesn't know the existent of his own strength. Not having the nerve to talk again to the Quartz, not wanting to piss her off anymore then she already clearly is. Things only became even more hazy with the Howlite gem, the one who really instigated the whole thing, was trying to get between him and the grip of the Quartz.... still an odd feeling having a gem larger then him holding him from the ground.
I didn't seem to go well... Varis was just watching this all unfold from the grip of 7XB. That is until he was kind of flung off to the side away from the Howlite and the Quartz.... now her wrath seemed to be his issue. Varis had no idea what the two gems were talking about... a Moon Base? Reports? Defects? Being snapped back to reality when Pye gripping up his sleeve and started pulling him towards Pyre... just what he needed.
The smol red game was clear about having him fix what he had done.... but could he? He felt nothing but in the wrong on every level. He found it hard to say hi... even to look at her. "Sorry, we didn't mean to get in your way again, we didn't mean any harm. I'll make sure it doesn't happen again..." glancing up towards her for a moment to see... she couldn't even look at him either. Quickly dropping both to his knees before her, "No, no, no, n-no! Its not your fault! I shouldn't ha-have uh... 'blew up' the situation.." His ham fisted attempt at some kind of bad pun.
"You and Pye are just f-fine! Really, th-this was all my fault.... you uh..." He wasn't sure what to do.... he had messed up and she was even upset about it, even if she was trying not to show it. He really couldn't think of anything other to do. He leaned and and pulled her into a quick hug, "I-I'm sorry... I-Ill just..." his stutter was awful, letting her go he turned on his heel taking advantage of the other gems all being busy, Varis bolted in the direction away from the group, turning down an ally and hoping up the wall to the top of a building.... "Ill be sure y-you two do-don't see me anytime soon..." surely no one would hear this, but distance was all he could think of, he needed to get as far as he could.
The quartz parted their lips to, most likely, threaten the other gem just as Variscite and..Pye? Whatever she called herself, conducted their final exchange, the rebel soon vanishing from 7XB's peripheral as the hastily fled the scene of the crime. Oh no you don't, traitor. After everything that had just happened, they weren't willing to let them get off scot-free, not while their head was still throbbing, at least.
Sucking in a deep breath, a new habit they seemed to only learned the benefits of today in an attempt to calm themselves, they fired a final 'you aren't worth it's sort of glare at Howlite, turning on their heels to speed off after Varis with previously unseen velocity. "Form up, ladies." They muttered as they pass the pyropes, mere seconds before they passed them, "He's not getting away so easily.."
They were soon sailing through the crowd of scattering humans, a veritible blur in the distance.
Pye fell silent after he little speech, fumbling her hands around awkwardly. She finally met Varis' eyes, her crushed expression seeming to start lightening up. But before she could say anything Varis was already gone and disappeared into the skyline. Pyre and Pye shared a tentative look, kind of unsure how to proceed from here. That was shortly answered by XB rushing to follow Varis, calling both of them to follow, "Hey, I'm not a-!" Pyre's remark was cut off by Pye grabbing him in a big hug. His constant glare gave way to a very rare warm smile, followed by their forms glowing and reshaping back into Pyrope.
Before following XB she turned to Howlite, "Look, we appreciate the effort but... just go. I can handle this from here." She turned to leave, rushing up to catch up with XB. She stayed behind them, allowing the quartz to lead the way, "Hey uhm... XB, for the record I think you did a really good job trying to keep the peace. And uh... thanks." And so she booked it to try and find Varis, more to keep XB from doing anything drastic than anything else.
Howlite was about to approach the others when Pyrope told him to go. That kind of hurt a little bit. "Oh uh yeah sure I guess. It was stupid of me to think this was gonna work out. Look, I'll just uh go over there." He walked over to a nearby tree and sat down at the base of it. Well this was a disaster. The first time Howlite ever performed a self less act, was met with rejection. He was used to it though. What was he doing here? Clearly they didn't want to work with him. XB hated his guts and both of the Pyropes effectively said they didn't want him there. He glanced over at the fleeing gem. What he wouldn't have done to take that back. He wished he could've gone back in time and stopped himself from threatening him. He just wanted to do his job. He thought that's what they wanted him to do. Wasn't Homeworld's entire methodology based around doing your job? Howlite would get over it. He always did. He just slumped over and waited for this nightmare to end.
Melody: "The fight system of this site is really Ehh..." Well... how would you improve it? ^^

Flurry: I think that theres not much that can be done in just, regular rps, I think before a fight both sides should agree to do it, and decide the winner based on logic, because otherwise we're doing this "Hey im really cool" thing that goes back and forth
Oct 14, 2019 19:51:03 GMT
Flurry: I made Flurry cause id rather have a support/non fighting character anyway
Oct 14, 2019 19:51:31 GMT

Light: so... You think the fight system is bad, but you also don't know how to improve it? I understand what you are trying to say, but it is something that roleplayers should take care of. Admins can only tell you that the way you play is wrong or ban

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.

Differances Between the Roleplay and the Show
*Thanks to Rose Quartz' message the Gems on Earth are entirely aware that the Homeworld Gems intend to wipe out the human race.
*The "corruption" is being treated like a virus due to lack of info about it on the show.
*Garnet, Pearl and Rose are assumed capture on Homeworld
*Garnet,Pearl and Rose broke the space warps to delay Homeworld
*Thanks to Roses Message gems now know what the Kindergarten was used for
