Ever since he'd joined the Crystal Gems, Titanite hadn't actually seen any corrupted gems. Whereas in his past he'd seen numerous. He wasn't exactly sad that he hadn't encountered any more, in fact he was quite afraid of them. However, as of recently he'd heard sightings of a corrupted gem in a place he once held very dear to his heart, in a woodland area on the northern island of Japan. He wasn't at all keen on dealing with this, however he could not stand the thought of a corrupted gem terrorising a place he once very much loved. So, he made an attempt to spread the word around to other Crystal Gems to see if he could perhaps get other gems to accompany him.
Luckily for him, an active warp pad was relatively near to the area he needed to be and as such he warped to this location post haste. The warp pad whirred to life as he arrived at the location, taking a moment to analyse his surroundings, making use of both his eyes and his ESP. As he does this he can't help but smile.
"Just the same as I remember it..."
He loved everything about this place, he could spend hours just calmly walking through the woodland, but he had a mission to undergo. However, before he went anywhere he decided he'd wait by the warp pad in case any other Crystal Gems had caught wind of his mission and had decided to come along, patiently waiting near the warp pad for anybody to come through.
Aqua Star had been meditating by the ocean when she sensed it. She was needed. She wasn't a chooser of sides, but she believed in what was right, so she would help out the Crystal Gems from time time. She stood up, smoothing out her toga-like dress. She would have preferred to continue meditating, but it had been a while since she had actually done something for the rebellion. She made her way to the nearest warp pad, but before she stepped onto it, she hesitated. Corruption. She closed her eyes and saw that the mission involved corruption. She had never been a fan of the topic, but she knew she should at least learn about it. "I suppose it's about time that I do," she murmured to herself. "Perhaps I may be able to help such Gems. Or it may help me learn about who I..." She shook her head. "No. This isn't about me. Someone needs my help." She stepped into the center of the warp, folding her hands neatly. A beam of light shone around her, and she disappeared.
Waiting patiently as he had been earlier, he jumped a little as the warp pad whirred to life and a brilliant beam of light erupted from it. As the beam cleared, he caught sight of a gem that was not at all familiar to him. It was almost reminiscent of a Sapphire, but not at the same time, he went to speak but unlike the past few encounters his social ineptness was making an appearance, so he wasn't exactly having high hopes for this conversation.
"O-oh! Are you, er, a Crystal Gem by any chance? I tried to get the word out to as many as I could before I came here."
As nervous as he seemed, he was glad that at least one person had shown up. If there was in fact a corrupted gem here, he wanted to make sure he had someone with him.
Aquamarine bowed her head in a polite greeting, unfolding her hands as she stepped off of the warp pad.
“Greetings, Titanite,” she said.
Her first impression was one of curiousity. She had never seen a Gem with such unique markings as he did. Then she became concerned. He seemed to be quite shy and anxious. She cast a quick glance at the starry sky, hopefully quick enough so that he wouldn’t notice. He was born in the southern frozen wasteland of Earth, and was different than his hatchmates. He was unhappy with an achievement, and Aqua Star could see that he traveled far. She saw a deep passion, perhaps for Earth. Star looked back down at the green Gem.
“You need not to be nervous,” she said softly. “I had sensed that you were seeking assistance, and it is for that reason that I have arrived.”
Star twirled around, throwing her head back as her gem glowed. She put her hand to her throat and gracefully summoned her kusarigama, the chain looping around her arm neatly. The handle of the scythe fell delicately into her hands.
Titanite was, well, mystified to say the least. She seemed so calm and relaxed, and almost insightful. His anxiety started to fade off as he realised that this gem was certainly a friend, they seemed to be more than willing to assist him and for that he was glad.
"Well, there's a corrupted gem somewhere in the woodland ahead, and I've tasked myself with poofing it and bubbling it away so that it can't bring any harm to the local humans. I would have done it alone, but to be honest corrupted gems scare me... So I figured I'd try to bring others along to make it a bit easier, so I'm quite glad you showed up."
He was more than glad, he was both incredibly grateful and heavily relieved. Perhaps this would be the day where he would get closer to overcoming his fear of corruptions. Either way, he awaited Aqua's response before going off anywhere to ensure she understood. She most likely did, but he wanted to make sure.
Aqua Star saw his surprise plainly, and she couldn’t help but smile as he relaxed. She had missed this. She had missed helping Gems, and seeing how happy they were to protect the Earth. Aquamarine had been selfish. She had meditated and stargazed for weeks, only concerned about who she used to be, when she should have been protecting her beloved home, and helping others who wanted to defend it.
She respected Titanite’s honesty when he admitted that he was afraid. She was as well, though she never showed it. She must remain calm at all times; she must be the voice of reason in every situation.
“It is very honorable to bear such a task, especially for others’ sake,” she said. “I would be delighted to help such a Gem as you.”
It wasn’t flattery. Star had met quite a few Crystal Gems that only wanted to save Earth because of their own selfish reasons, not to protect the life that lived on the planet. This Gem had a promising future. Aquamarine Star tucked her hair behind her ear, adjusting her grip on her chain scythe.
Titanite couldn't help but smile, this gem spoke in such a calming and articulate manner, he felt that this mission was definitely going to be a success.
"Well, I do suppose we should try to find some tracks. That's usually the best pla-"
As he was speaking a loud, and guttural roaring from the distance cut him off. It was unlike any earthen animal he'd heard. He knew that the sound he'd just heard had to be his target.
"There it is! C'mon, it came from this direction!"
He said in a hurried manner. As he finished speaking he rushed off in the direction he had indicated, hoping that Aqua Star would be able to keep up as he agilely leaping over any obstacles in his path. He remembered on his way to the noise that he'd gotten one of his recent associates to come along with him, however he chose not to think much of it as he rushed ahead. He wanted to make as much use of this newfound confidence and destroy the form of this corruption. The last run in he'd had with one nearly cost him his life, he didn't intend on making the same mistakes as he once did.
Aqua Star hardly blinked as she heard the loud roar of a corrupted Gem. It sounded big. Very big. Star cast a doubtful glance at the sky, hoping to see some possible hint of how this would end. Of course, the image was blocked. She could not see her own future, she knew that. She also knew that she couldn't cheat, looking at events involving other Gems and herself. She scowled, then shook her head, turning her attention to Titanite. She was impressed by his agility, and she found that she actually had to put in more effort than usual to keep up. Maybe she was getting rusty, or this Gem simply had a talent. Either way, she chuckled to herself, deciding that she would have to go out on missions more often if she didn't want to lose her touch. As they became closer to the target, Aqua felt... nervous. An emotion she had not experienced often in her new life. "Do you have experience with the corrupted?" she asked Titanite, hoping to take her mind off her anxiety.
The Green gem floated about a foot off of the floor through the woodland. He observed his surroundings. It was indeed a very beautiful place. Looking around he could see many types of trees that were foreign to him. He took in a deep, unnecessary breath of fresh air. As he floated he occasionally looped in the air. His attention was brought to noises audible near him. It was two gems that were talking. One seemed to be keeping her alignment hidden, he deducted this from the fact that she ignored it when he asked. The two were hunting corruptions.
Sulfur darted in front of the two, taking advantage of their anxiety as a chance to startle them.
"Well! I happen to be quite the expert... " Sulfur said. He wasn't very loud, but he was so sudden.
Before Titanite could answer Aqua's question, he was slightly startled by the sudden appearance of this green gem, not as startled as he could have been however as Sulfur's presence was made aware to him moments before Sulfur surprised the pair due to his ESP. Though he couldn't tell what this gem was aligned with, perhaps he was here to help? He claimed to be an expert on corruption, so it would be handy to have somebody like him along this mission. Something about this green gem seemed familiar, however he passed it off as nothing, perhaps this information would present itself to him later.
"You're an expert on these things? Well that's good to hea-"
He didn't even know why this gem was here, so before he continued he stopped himself and quickly decided to ask why on earth he'd shown up here of all places. Perhaps he was here to deal with the corrupted gem.
"Hey wait a minute, what're you doing here?"
He figured there must've been a reason as to why a gem like this had just decided to show up. Though the landscape was quite visually appealing, it wasn't exactly a hotspot for anyone to come to due to how isolated it was, so he had his curiosities.
Aqua Star’s eyes narrowed as a green Gem appeared, blocking their path. Of course she hadn’t seen this coming. She couldn’t see a blasted thing about the outcome of this mission. She had no idea who this Gem was, and she had exhausted her ability to read the stars, with all the time she had spent earlier trying to find herself, and reading Titanite’s past. It would be hours until she was at full strength again. The Gem seemed to be somewhat arrogant, for he claimed to be an “expert” on corruption. But if what he said was true, Aquamarine Star could get information. She was getting stressed out, which was rare for her. She wanted to go back to meditating, but of course there was no time for that right now. After Titanite asked the Gem what he was doing, Aqua Star followed with her own question. “State your purpose.” For the first time, she was itching to use her weapon.
Sulfur looked at Titanite with an expression that seemed calm yet void of emotion.
"Not to sound odd, but I followed you here." He said, moving his hand as he talked like gems and humans commonly do. "I rarely see gems go this far away from the hub locations of the war, I wanted to see what you were up to."
Sulfur then turned to Aqua Star and smiled.
"You get right down to business don't you?" Sulfur paused to hear her name. "I am Sulfur, I came here mainly to investigate a gem I had seen coming this far out... I believe that to be your companion on this mission. I am not sure, I am merely assuming you are the gems that I followed, either that or there are many more gems than I thought here."
Sulfur hopped into the air and floated about a foot off the ground. He flipped vertically in the air and hung upside down midair.
"I suppose I would be up for a corrupted gem hunt!" Sulfur said with a grin. "If I wouldn't be a nuisance to you that is."
Titanite looked a little, confused, to say the least. It was a touch unusual as to why this gem was wondering what he was doing.
"You followed me? Well, I do suppose this area is quite isolated... I'm sure others would have been just as curious."
The point Sulfur made was valid, if not somewhat questionable. Either way, he was fine with Sulfur accompanying him and Aqua Star. However, that feeling in the back of his mind arose once again, he could have sworn he'd seen this gem somewhere before, his name being disclosed further reinforced this. He remembered... Seeing them by the water somewhere? He couldn't quite remember. Either way, he didn't want to waste any more time. As they were sitting around talking the corruption could have been getting away.
"Well Sulfur, I'm fine with you coming along, but we should stop standing around. I don't want that corruption getting away."
As he said this he once again dashed off in the direction he was previously headed, this time using his Aerokinesis now and again to propel himself forward and over any obstacles for an added speed boost. He assumed the two would be able to keep up, seeing as Sulfur could apparently levitate and Aqua kept up with him just before. Regardless, he wasn't letting this corruption get away, it was time for him to confront this fear once and for all.
Aqua Star remained wary of this Gem. What purpose had he to follow them? He claimed that he wanted to help, but Star was still uneasy. She took a deep breath. Maybe this Gem actually was just trying to help. She badly wanted to read him, but her star vision was still blurred. She would have to trust this Sulfur, but she still kept a close eye on him. He could be a Home World Gem, and she and Titanite wouldn’t be able to tell. It was possible that they could be running right into an ambush. Aquamarine looked up, her eyebrows furrowed as she focused hard. An image began to appear, but it blew away like a leaf in the wind. Aqua Star faltered, her sight darkening as her eyes rolled back, the strain beginning to take its toll. She shook her head and forced herself to keep running, blinking away the clouds. "Are we nearing our destination, Titanite?"
"Excellent!" Sulfur chimed. He walked with them, hanging upside down. It was almost as if he was walking on an unseen ceiling. The only hint that he was indeed upside down was the fact that his hair and clothes hung downward. He had a strange walking style, but anyone would look strange walking upside down. After a long while this seemed to tire him and he flipped back to normal. He continued to float, simply right-side up.
His floating style was by no means normal. His body was hunched forward and his arms hung limp. His legs were bent at the knees and his head was forward. He combed the floor with his eyes, as if searching for tiny objects on the floor. His head twisted toward Titanite unnaturally.
Melody: "The fight system of this site is really Ehh..." Well... how would you improve it? ^^

Flurry: I think that theres not much that can be done in just, regular rps, I think before a fight both sides should agree to do it, and decide the winner based on logic, because otherwise we're doing this "Hey im really cool" thing that goes back and forth

Flurry: I made Flurry cause id rather have a support/non fighting character anyway

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
