It was calm day on the docks. The waves were rolling in silently, the seagulls were flying, and there was not a soul around. This day could not possibly go wrong, unless you had a terrible burst of bad luck. This is exactly what Smithsonite had. In the distance from the beach, there was a ship flying towards the surface. It was out of control and headed straight for the shore. CRASH!!! It went straight into the water, sending large waves in every direction. The seagulls flew away in fear for their lives.
The door opened and a small gem swam towards the surface. He watched his stolen ship as it fell to the ocean floor.
"That was a close one." He said in relief. "If it weren't for my luck coming back, I surely would've been shattered..."
He swam towards the shore, hoping no one had seen what had happened.
Having had a relatively uneventful day, Titanite was spending his time on the docks of beach city, having not explored much of it. However, in a short moment a loud crashing sound close by startles him, causing him to rush over to the direction of the sound. As he arrives he sees it, what appears to be a gem ship crashed into the water, sinking below the surface as he arrives. He figured that someone had to be piloting the ship, so he frantically looks around hoping that whoever was piloting the ship had survived, at first he didn't notice anyone, luckily for him, his ESP did it for him. As he senses a gem swimming to the shore, presumably from the crashed ship. He sprints over to the gem as they arrive on shore.
"H-hey! Are you alright there?"
Despite this gem having just come from a crashed ship, he still somehow managed to feel anxious about talking to them. The thought of this gem being of homeworld lingered in the back of his mind as well, so he was prepared with the possibility of them not being friendly in mind, keeping a slight distance until he could be sure.
Titanite was very confused, although his clothing didn't exactly have the Crystal Gem star on it, he wouldn't assume that this gem would take him to be homeworld. He couldn't stand being confused for a homeworld loyalist let alone seeing this gem sobbing about it, he had to set the record straight.
"No no no! It's alright! I'm not with homeworld and I don't want to shatter you!"
As he says this, he steps a bit closer to Smithsonsite, not too close however, he didn't want to scare him any more than he apparently already was.
"Here, I'll even tell you my name."
He steps forward once more and outstretches his hand, hoping this gem would calm down a little and shake it.
"My name's Titanite, a pleasure to meet you."
This was something he wasn't used to, well he wasn't used to a lot of the recent things he'd experienced since joining the Crystal Gems, but seeing someone who had presumably crashed their ship into the water suddenly start assuming the worst upon seeing a gem was an unusual sight to behold.
Smithsonite looked back at him with innocent eyes. He was confused; a gem that didn't want to shatter him was unheard of. He did not know what to say. All he did was slowly approach him with a cautious expression on his face. As he did so, he activated his good luck power.
"Now nothing will go wrong... I think." He whispered to himself.
He carefully inspected this... Titanite, "I guess you seem okay..." He figured he could trust him, for now.
"My name is Smithsonite," He said in reply after a long awkward pause.
"If you're not allied with Homeworld, then where do your allegiances lie..." He pondered for some time, "Are you part of that one rebel group I heard of? The Crystal Clods or whatever?"
Titanite laughed a little, the Crystal Clods? What a preposterous name! Whoever could have come up with a name like that? Either way, he nodded in response to Smithsonite's question.
"That's correct, I'm a part of the Crystal Gems. I was technically allied with homeworld a very, very long time ago, but that's a thing of the past now. Has been for, well, a very, very long time."
As he said this, he realised the whole 'ship crashing into the ocean' thing had remained unanswered, so he figured he'd ask.
"Now, Smithsonite, I have a question for you. What on earth caused you to crash that ship into the ocean?"
Smithsonite's apparent fear of homeworld was a thought that lingered in Titanite's mind. It seemed to be the only logical answer, seeing as he almost immediately surrendered due to a presumption that he'd been faced with a homeworld gem intending to shatter him. But Titanite thought that perhaps this suggestion was wrong, so he wanted to hear what Smithsonite had to say.
Smithsonite laughed sheepishly. "Oh yeah... that." He didn't want to explain the whole fiasco that happened to him literally a few hours ago. Even if he had outrun the dozens of homeworld gems that were chasing him, he did not want to compromise his life with one wrong comment.
"Well, I... Was about to be shattered by Yellow Diamond... and I... escaped." He smacked his forehead because he didn't want to say that. Either way he already said it, so he may as well continue.
"I'm a defective gem, and homeworld viewed me as useless, so they tried to shatter me. I escaped only because I discovered my powers in the nick of time. I got lucky." He laughed to himself as he said "Lucky".
He considered the fact that he was using his good luck at this moment, and felt comfort in the fact that he was safe.
What a brave gem. Titanite smiled upon hearing this story, realising that they weren't so different. Both defects who refused to be destroyed because of what they were, he barely knew Smithsonite and he already had some respect for him after hearing of what he'd done.
"Oh wow... Y'know, we aren't so different you and I. I'm also a defect, though I didn't have the choice of escape when they tried to shatter me, rather I poofed them. Each and every gem that tried, they had their forms reduced to nothing by my blade."
He only just realised that he was starting to sound a bit violent and sketchy, he didn't want to scare Smithsonite again so he spoke up once again to try and 'fix' what he had just said so to speak.
"O-of course they were all just fine afterwards! In fact, they even ended up accepting me despite being defective. ...It didn't help anything though. I hated the fact that my destiny was set in stone by those who'd created me, so I eventually defected out of hatred for what homeworld was doing to earth, not to mention the need for me to lead my own destiny."
He had to stop himself before he went on, he realised he was starting to ramble a little.
"Either way, if anyone from homeworld tries to harm you again, I'll do my best to protect you. I was originally designed to be a bodyguard after all!"
Smithsonite was caught off guard by his comment. He never would have ever imagined that anyone else knew his pain. He meekly looked at Titanite and knew that he was speaking the truth.
"I suppose a rebel can only help a rebel..."
He thought about it some more. A rebel can only help a rebel. But these gems are different, they fight against homeworld, maybe they're against him too. He shivered at the thought, but he tried to cast the thought away from his mind. Titanite seemed too nice for that.
"Fine... I'll take you up on your offer..."
And just as he finished saying that his good luck ran out, his gem turned pink. Maybe Titanite was only being nice to him because his power was activated...
Titanite cheerily grinned upon hearing this, he was quite glad knowing that this seeming rebel was deciding to stick with him for the time being. Though, he was curious about something Smithsonite had said earlier, specifically about 'his powers activating' when he was escaping from the Diamonds.
"Actually I'm curious about something Smithsonite, you said something before about your powers being the reason you escaped from the diamonds. What kind of powers are they exactly?"
He apparently didn't pick up on the subtle hint that Smithsonite had dropped earlier about it being luck. However, nonetheless he was still curious. The idea that Fire Agate might still be after him lingered in his mind, and he wanted to know what Smithsonite would be capable of if she did end up trying to attack him again. Even though he threw her into the ocean, he still felt that it was inevitable to happen.
Blue would be having a rather pleasant day, the beaming sun full of its rays flowed down on the beach while Blue admired its greatness by her glance, suddenly her somewhat sun bathing would be disrupted as a rumble would be heard from a far, as she narrowed her eye in utter annoyance by it she would then glow her stomach gem, suddenly emerging her mighty giant blue shield in which then she turned towards her right in the direction it came from, blue would be attired in a homeworld aristocratic dress however it was still manageable in battle case scenarios. She would then start to walk turning towards the dock area alongside the beach she saw two figures, contemplating on what it might be she would then press her visor's button activating the scanning sequence, it shot a microscopic diamond chip that would hover around them of approximately 8ft scanning them in which due to size it wouldn't be noticed hopefully. Blue would then obtain it while sending it back inside her visor's latch to review those beings in her database.
A visual screen emerged from visor she would then walk slowly but surely towards them seeing that Two profile emerged, a Titanite and a Smithsonite each were last located off homeworld in which then she grew skeptical as these were gems whom seem to be possible rebels which she hated more than anything. Blue would then deactivate the visual screens heading towards the two, as she got of close proximity her fluttering hair blew as the rushing winds picked up," What brings you two at this planet.. you've surely aren't of homeworld alignment as I've already seen your profile info of your latest knews.. Defective runts.." she'd say soft yet coldly as she didn't like to see rebels along with lying rebels if they started to make some false statements to get out of what Blue may bring if annoyed enough.
As this large gem approaches, Titanite immediately senses, and turns towards them, noticing the patterns on their attire and identifying them as homeworld. He readies himself in his usual stance, ready to arm himself at a moments notice.
"For your information, I was created on this planet. And I'd appreciate it if you homeworld loyalists would stop calling everyone you deem defective 'runts'"
He hoped with all his being this wouldn't end up with another fight. He'd recently had to fight a gem of a quartz's stature and he didn't particularly want to fight another. Which was the main reason he kept his weapon sheathed for the moment. He took a step back before speaking again.
"Why've you come here? Are you another homeworld soldier here to attack us?"
This gem did not look like a soldier by any means. However, Titanite knew that looks could be deceiving. He kept his gaze trained on Blue Quartz, keeping himself ready to uphold the promise he'd just made to Smithsonite. Even if he didn't want to fight, he was sure as hell ready if one were to emerge.
Smithsonite starts shaking in fear, he knew deep down why this Quartz had come. His luck ran out. He knew that if he did not do something, he would be caught, he also knew that if he did do something then something else would go wrong. He pondered his options, trying to figure out the best course of action.
Maybe if he could get Titanite as far away from him as possible, then the Quartz would follow suit. This would give him enough time to regain his luck... hopefully. Sadly, he was frozen in fear at this point and could not do anything for himself, all he could do was sit and hope that something would go his way.
"Stupid powers... I wish I was never made..."
Fear overtook his will, and he just stood there, watching.
The mere suggestion of running stifled Titanite a little. Even the most dainty of gems he'd come across had never told him to run from anything before. Either way, he refused to budge. He wasn't going to run from a homeworld gem who'd approached them with potentially malicious intent.
"No Smithsonite, I'm not running. Didn't you hear what I said? I was originally designed as a bodyguard. No sense running if I was built for this."
He felt as if he'd just made an insensible decision, he didn't want to have to fight a gem like a quartz again, but yet he refused to run anywhere. Perhaps this quartz was reasonable? Though it didn't seem likely with her first addressing them as 'defective runts.' Regardless, he wasn't going to run, perhaps hoping that this would instil some courage into the seemingly cowardly Smithsonite. Besides, if escape of any kind was needed, he was more than capable of doing so. Though, he was a touch worried about Smithsonite, seeing as he was standing there, seemingly paralysed by fear. Regardless, he redirects his attention to the Quartz and stands his ground, once again ready to arm himself at a moments notice.
Blue would have her eye narrowed in which then she blinked looking down upon these two gems, the Titanite seem to be the first to speak in which she grew wary of his babbling," I have no interest of where you were made in, your nothing but a misshaped gem whom thinks they can be somebody saving these vermin from there inevitable deaths, I am Blue Quartz, I am not aligned with neither Homeworld nor those Crystal Runts as I met Pink Diamond recently, she changed my view on there society in which it was pointless to stay there further, yes Indeed I was of high status however I'm living doing something far more sinister than what homeworld could think of.." she'd say talking about her gem experimentation team that was created not too long ago. Blue started to dart her eye towards the Smithsonite in disgrace," Get yourself together, your a traitor as I am, the least you can do now is get some strength and be bold on the decisions you make.." she'd say displeased by this gem.
She looked towards the Titanite and was chuckling as he seem to be in a position in which he was ready to fight," You gems amuse me to the fullest, acting like your own gem, you will always and forever have the diamonds in your head I'm sure, you were made for a purpose as I was, manipulation occurred here hasn't it.. making you rebels.. thinking that you have some sort of reality in which you don't belong to homeworld well guess what you do, however since you made the choice to become something internally your not I'll be happy to add you to another fateful experiment" she'd say while wielding her mighty shield forward towards the Smithsonite, since she was of close range she would use this towards her advantage using the giant shield to attempt to push Smithsonite back and into the ocean if successful she would then stare down at the other gem awaiting its move as her power far exceeded his nonetheless.

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
