Name:
Yellow Beryl, Facet-0B5W Cut-6CS
Appeared Gender:
Female
Appeared Age:
Youthful, yet mature. Comparable to a Human woman in her mid-20s.
Gemstone:
Yellow beryl
Gemstone Location:
On her upper back, between her shoulder blades.
Faction:
Homeworld, Military Sector
Corrupted:
No.
Appearance:
Personality:
A technician loyal to Homeworld, with an assortment of practical skills she hardly deems valuable enough to talk about, opting to put in her day's work without any notice. A special type of monotony can lull Yellow Beryl into a happy mood, though she has never been one to turn down a good conversation and establish a connection to anyone, colleague or otherwise. Enlightenment and clarity can come from anyone and anywhere, even in Humans and on Earth. Because of her inquisitive yet simple nature, fighting is a desperation tactic that she is deathly afraid of, usually.
While Yellow Beryl can be very opinionated and judging, she could easily be seen as a gentle giant of a Gem, standing at an impressive 9'0" and with a certain meekness to her. Taking pleasure in the simple victories and the beings around her keeps a lid on any impending meltdown about to blow her lid. It should be noted that she is not smitten with all of the Homeworld Triarchy's policies and beliefs, but her disgust at the betrayal of the Crystal Gems trumps her unease of the ruling power by far. Duplicity against her entire species isn't even a possibility, nor is shirking her duties (heinous or otherwise). That being said, the threat of bodily harm has always been the great negotiator. To this end, Yellow Beryl could be 'persuaded' one way or another and waffle on her beliefs if the alternative is death or injury.
Likes:
Routine, conversation, good jokes (not puns), the color green, drama/performance
Dislikes:
Puns, babies, teaching/explaining things, rain, silence
Fears:
Rain, the Crystal Gems, getting stranded/left behind, conventional Human weaponry, the "corruption"
Weapon:
A yellow and black quarterstaff tipped and adorned with multiple versions of her gemstone.
Ability 1:
Undiscovered
Ability 2:
Undiscovered
Fusions:
None yet. ((Planning on having one later on))
History:
A native of Homeworld, Yellow Beryl was formed only around 800 years ago. The possibility that her excessive height was a defect was proposed, but she was confident and functioned as well as anyone else. She was assigned the role of practical application of hard science as a technician under the service of Yellow Diamond. This job largely consisted of piloting and maintaining Gem Warships while moving from world to world, an illustrious job indeed. Despite being in the military, Yellow Beryl had only seen a battlefield from afar, something she was more than content with.
While Yellow Beryl had picked up a skill here, a tactic there, she knew enough about a fight to feel confident enough to hold her own in certain instances, much akin to a false confidence reading a manual before putting something together gives you.
Recently, Yellow Beryl has been assigned to Earth as part of a relief effort to loyal troops abandoned due to sabotage. Gems fighting Gems, putting the native species first before their own, it was truly a desperate situation. Perhaps even more unsettling, a sickness seemed to turn Gems into the stuff of nightmares indiscriminately. Whether getting the communication links back online, starting the kindergarten back up, or simply maintaining Homeworld's presence on the planet, they most certainly picked one of the most unqualified, ill-prepared Gems for the job.
Yet, it was still her job. She'd simply have to make it work.
Character Arcs:
- Beryl could potentially be captured and forced to work for the Crystal Gems despite her loyalty to Homeworld.
- Beryl could draw her own conclusions about the Diamond's and Crystal Gem's ethics, disregarding their motives and prominent actions.
- Beryl could be persuaded to fuse with another Gem, even one loyal to Earth.
- Depending on the actions of others around her, Beryl could become more accepting or more jaded towards Humans and other species.
- While she would never actively betray her species, Beryl could be convinced in the merit and value of other life in the world, causing her to make a change in the inner-workings of Homeworld without compromising her loyalty.
