As was now the norm Para found herself at the forge again, working away at the anvil trying to create various pieces of gear that gems had tasked her with. Since sending out information about this place to her fellow rebels this place had been pretty active, something she enjoyed to no end as she finally had something to fill her time. The bad news was that she was fairly certain that information about this place had been leaked, there was a strong possibility that neutrals and possibly even some Homeworld loyalists knew that this place existed. Of course, knowing that this place existed and knowing where it was were two entirely different things. Still, she prepared for the worst by creating some... 'defensive' measures. While the loyalists here on Earth lacked the resources needed to wipe this structure out, a hostile take over could be an issue.
But that was neither here nor there, today she was simply finishing a simple work order. The door to the structure stood open, giving a direct view into the main room that Para worked.

Chip was a skilled warrior, but he missed one thing - something defensive. He tried to use some ancient human shield he found in M-tower, probably some rare and unique piece of memorabilia. And of course if was destroyed easily in the first battle he brought it in. He needed something better... something durable... something made by a gem for a gem.
But he heard about a place that could help him. He was pretty sure, that he shouldn't know about it and also that coming here was reckless and dangerous, but he really wanted a shield... Flurry told him about a place called "The Forge" and this was probably it. It was so silly to go here... yet here he was... "Hello? Anyone home? I'm coming in peace... please, refrain from attacking me..."

Para looked up from the anvil just as she was about to start hammering a new piece and called out to the voice echoing from further ahead, "Come in, come in! You are among good gems, do no worry. This is a place of work, no fighting is to be had." Focused again on the anvil she began to hammer out the metal while it was hot, eventually turning it into something much more resembling a blade. While she talked Para kept her eyes on her work the entire time, "Welcome, I am Padparadscha 'Master of the Forge'. But please call me Para. What is it I can do for you?" A few short minutes later she plunged the blade into a container of water to let the blade cool down. When she pulled it out it was given a quick inspection, seemingly a shortsword of sorts with a fancy blade the narrowed towards the guard then widened out again at the middle and top. Placing it on the anvil she quickly spun her hands around the weapon, decoration the blade with inscriptions and highlights while also creating a handle and guard from seemingly nothing. Once it was finished she inspected it once again with an approving look then sat it down against the anvil to give her full attention to the newcomer.

Chip heard a voice that invited him in. He doubted that most of gems would listened to the "place of work not fighting" but he wasn't here to fight. He was still careful but he came in. Chip instantly liked this place since it was very, very warm... "Hello Para... I call myself Chip..."
He chose not to tell all of his titles... he would sound too much like a loyal gem... and he really wanted to avoid fighting. He didn't really want to injure any Crystal gems, because they might be friends of Flurry...
"Well... a friend told me about this place... and... well... I am really trying to get some good shield... "
He explained. He had a good weapon... but he lacked a shield... in combat he lacked any kind of protection...
Post by Forge Master Para on Feb 22, 2017 21:30:59 GMT
She listened intently while Chip explained himself, noting he seemed rather nervous. It was to be expected she supposed, this place was sort of in the middle of nowhere and in a very desolate location. Didn't exactly give off good feelings. Still, she couldn't help but give out a laugh, "Hahaha, oh I am afraid you will not find any 'good' shields here, no no no! What I supply here is nothing short of the best equipment in the solar system! Now, if you would like to have the best shield of your existence then that I can do. Do you have any specific specifications in mind, or shall it be a surprise?" Already a few ideas formed, but the actual type of shield would drastically change the final product.

"I meant no disrespect... and I certainly didn't want to insult your craftsmanship."
He said. He just didn't want sound like "Hey, I want the best shield ever" that would sound a little too... arrogant? He had no idea if her reputation was deserved, but probably was...
"Well... I could certainly find a good use for the best shield of my existence... especially if it helps me keep my existence well... existing... "
"Well... I uhm... I do fight a lot... though almost complete just corrupted gems... since I am using lance as a weapon I have nothing to keep myself safe when the monster gets too close... so something that will help me do that?"
Post by Forge Master Para on Feb 23, 2017 16:40:37 GMT
Although she was a bit taken back by how literal Chip took her comment Para didn't miss a beat, "Oh I assure you Chip that no offense is taken, I can not blame you for not knowing about every single gem on this planet. But hopefully after this day you will see that I hold my title for a very good reason~" Never would she admit that reason was essentially she just showed up and called dibs of course...
"Thankfully you have narrowed down the options significantly, but there are still a few designs that could apply. It entirely depends on your style and choice of combat, as you must always bring the right tool for the occasion even in combat. You say you fight corrupted gems fairly often, and use a lance hmm..." As she thought to herself Para started to create little 3D diagrams on the anvil with her hands, "A tower shield is out of the question, far to restriction. Though if you wish for major protection a kite design could do wonders." The 3D representation finished to resemble a tear drop shape. She set that aside and worked on another, "Alternatively a heater design would be almost as effective with an increase of mobility over the kite shield." The following diagram looked almost like an upside down bell shape.
With those two diagrams made she pushed them together in front of Chip to examine, "There are other shield types, such as bucklers, but they are generally for more mobile weapons. With the lance you will want a heavier shield that helps you maintain balance and is able to take a large blow from a corrupted creature. So, which shall it be?"
Post by Chip the Fire Opal on Feb 27, 2017 10:41:23 GMT
"Well... I am quite mobile in a fight... even with a lance... so I think I could use something smaller that won't hinder me... and I don't really need to hide behind the shield... "
He said. He usually fought outside, using his wings to change positions quickly or to dodge attacks. But sometimes he simply needed to block some hits. And big shield would just be a nuisance while flying.
"So I think something smaller... and uhm... not heavy... if possible."
He smiled nervously. He didn't want to spill all his skills and how he was fighting... sure, he had some friends among Crystal gems, but he didn't have any alliance with Crystal gems. And his master did consider them enemies... he wasn't going to tell them how he fights...

Again she listened in silence, making some mental measurements of Chip in the mean time. Once he had finished she was confident, "Heater style it is then!" She tossed the models aside began pulling out various tools, "I assure you, my methods of amorsmithing are far more advanced than anything you could find elsewhere on this planet, or dare I say anywhere! I spent a great length of time researching human methods and designs and incorporated our advanced knowledge to refine the process. While not only being durable you will find this shield to be incredibly light. Despite the size it should not hinder your movement by much, if at all. Now... it is finally time for the magic to begin!" And just like that she set to work.
First she took various materials to serve as the metal base, pouring the refined solid ore into her crucible type tool. She then took the time to create a mold onto of the anvil, something that took a fair amount of time as her hands whipped around like a 3D printer making each layer. While this process was happening she kept talking despite being entirely focused on her work, "Do tell me about yourself Chip. I am curious who told you of this place, if you do not mind me asking. I had hoped to draw in more gems to assist, I would like to thank whoever mentioned this place. I simply can't keep myself busy~" Truth be told that wasn't exactly true, she was never idle even if there was no request to work on, she simply had a reputation to uphold. She... did have a reputation, right? "I'm sure whatever I made them they are more than happy with."
Post by Chip the Fire Opal on Feb 28, 2017 21:34:59 GMT
"Well I have no trouble believing, that your technique is far beyond what humans can do... "
He said. Since humans were technologically quite primitive, unable to create alloys or materials that could rival what gems could do there was really no need to convincing Chip. And it was quite a sight watching her work. He understood very little about what she was doing... but it appeared impressive...
"Talking about me? Uhm... there's not really much to be said... I'm a Fire Opal... and I am trying to protect humans of Empire city from Corrupted gems... or anyone really... and I was told about this place by my friend... I would really rather not tell who she is... I don't want to get her in some kind of trouble..."
Post by Forge Master Para on Feb 28, 2017 22:30:47 GMT
With the mold finished Para went and took the crucible in both hands, dipping it into the constantly flowing river of magma that disappeared into a grate in the floor. She held it there for a long while, letting the tool heat up till it glowed a hot reddish white, before pulling it out and pouring the contents into the mold. While it cooled she turned back to Chip, "Oh my, I do believe you are selling yourself short. Every gem has a story behind them, each an equally intricate and interesting tale as the last. However... if you do not wish to divulge that information than so be it. We all have our secrets~" She gave him a wink, or at least what looked like a wink? It was hard to tell with how many eyes she had. "I will say though, why would your friend be in trouble? I wanted word to be spread! I can't help those who don't find me."
She took the now mostly cooled down shield out of the mold, hammering the back of it till it plopped out onto the anvil. Setting the mold aside Para grabbed a pair of tongs along with her hammer. Manipulating the mostly formed shield with the tongs, Para began hammering out the minor details. "This alloy should be both light and incredibly resistance to physical damage. As well, the final details I put on afterwards should make it also resistant to electric currents. Not that you would likely find yourself in such a situation, you should note that nothing short of magma should melt this. Suffice to say, it shall be durable."
Post by Chip the Fire Opal on Feb 28, 2017 22:36:37 GMT
Chip took a deep breath.
"Well it isn't exactly a secret... but this is a Crystal gem base, isn't it... and I am not a Crystal gem... so I was kinda expecting I will get blasted by some sort of security system as soon as I get near... and spreading a word about Crystal gem bases to gems that aren't crystal gems really seems like a bad idea... It's a security risk..."
Chip had no stomach for deceiving anyone. He was like anti-Morion...
"What if some crazy loyalist find this place and attack you? Or kidnap you and force you to make weapons for your enemies... or something like that... "
He couldn't shake the idea that all Crystal gems were completely reckless... "Well I bet I could melt it if I wanted..."
He smiled and a lit off a small flame on his hand. He was able to melt the security door on a crushed ship... so he was probably capable of melting the shield too? Perhaps?
Post by Forge Master Para on Feb 28, 2017 23:04:58 GMT
The sudden change in tone was stark to say the least, the color in Para's face drained, "You're... not a Crystal Gem...?" The constant rhythmic hammering stopped, she was clearly on the verge of freaking out. Then just as Chip continued she let out a relieved sigh, "So you're not a loyalist either. Don't scare me like that!" She brushed the hair out of her face, seeming almost a tad embarrassed at her reaction, "Sorry, I just sort of assumed... nevermind. Your allegiance truly does not matter, it is just stressful having loyalists hunting you day and night. I'm still glad you came for my services, I aim to help any gem who requires equipment."
She cleared her throat, gathering her nerve again, "As for your abilities with fire, I would suggest not trying to test it." At this point she finished hammering the shield, setting that and the tongs aside. Now came her favorite part. As her hands whizzed around the shield it began to float slightly above the anvil, hardlight began to flow from her gem cores and onto the metal base. Initially it was a simple coating, a translucent sheen to keep the shield relatively non-conductive. Then intricate designs began to be made, along with various colors being used. Her eyes swapped back and forth from the Chip and the shield, designing it based on his outfit and color scheme. During this whole process she was stock still, except for her eyes and arms, for a good few minutes.

"Well excuse me, but you Crystal gems could use some good scaring... I mean... what if I were a loyalist? You Crystal gem should really be more careful. If I were your enemy I would knew location of one of your bases... and I would have a nice new shield... "
He said. All Crystal gems he's met were taking this as some sort of game.
"Fortunately for you I really don't want any gems to get hurt... being loyalists, Crystal gems or neutral ones... "
The only exceptions were corrupted gems. They had to be poofed and bubbled not only for their safety, but also for safety of everyone around...
"Yeah, not melting my new shield... good advice. I will remember it. And it seems you are not just a smith, you are also an artist... and somehow you knew, that orange is my favourite colour..."
Post by Forge Master Para on Feb 28, 2017 23:53:14 GMT
"Hmpf, you do not have to tell me! I should not divulge too much but... between you and I, things are not anywhere where I wish they were. The years of peace the rebellion has had made them complacent, now they are unprepared. We are going to need to get organized, and fast. I am thankful you are indeed not a loyalist, I would hate for all the good work we could do here to be shut down so swiftly. All of gem kind will benefit from what I have in mind..." At this point the shield floated gently down back onto the anvil, fully shaped and decorated. She picked it up and looked it over again, making sure it was flawless, "I was actually an artist before I worked with metal, this is all new to me. I am simply a fast learner. I am glad you are pleased though." With that said she handed it off to him, "May it protect you in all your efforts. And I hope one day we can perhaps call on you to hold the peace. And don't be afraid to come back for anything else!" Despite her previous panic attack Para smiled warmly, the pride in her work was evident.

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.

*Garnet, Pearl and Rose are assumed capture on Homeworld
*Garnet,Pearl and Rose broke the space warps to delay Homeworld
*Thanks to Roses Message gems now know what the Kindergarten was used for
