For a gem like Opalite, the look on Para's face was likely priceless. The color faded from her complexion and her work stopped for a moment, "A l-lie Grand Inquisitor? I swear I would never do such a thing, I am well aware of the fate of gems who lie to one such as yourself. Your reputation precedes you, that much I can assure you." She tried to make it sound like a compliment, but it sounded more like fearful grovelling to her own ears. Trying to just move past the awkwardness she doubled her efforts on dismantling the systems, working in dead silence until questioned again. This time she didn't look up from her work, "I'm afraid I have never traveled in one of this, I was only formed within the last few thousand years, so I've only ever used more modern ships. Not to mention I was not exactly designed to leave Homeworld very often, visiting colonies like this is... rare." Barely seconds after she said it Para cursed herself. The last thing she needed was to draw more attention to the odd chance of her being planet side.

Mr. O, the Grand Inquisitor was rather use to hearing such groveling, when a gem was guilt of a crime. O was starting to get the feeling this may not be a Homeworld loyal gem... too nervous around the Inquisitor for him not to notice. Deciding to give the gem a break as even if she was not loyal to the Diamonds, there was still not evidence that she was working with the rebels..... yet.
"I'm more then aware of my reputation dear, I was guess you too know of what I do when a gem lies to me, yes? Surely you would NEVER lie to me, so have nothing to worry about!" it seemed as if O was letting her slide but he was clearly not done learning from this gem... he would figure out the truth sooner or later.
"And yet here you are... rare indeed." He spoke while stepping away from her for a moment, glaring at the equipment left over from around the room, "Before I was the Grand Inquisitor... I use to be a member of the White Guards, I would accompany a group of gems to certain plants, they were to build warp pads on far away planets. This was before I was really even me! As one with as much technological knowledge that you have, you would have loved seeing these ships moving."
O seemed a bit nostalgic for a moment.. of a time from before he was the Inquisitor, back when he was still just.... Opalite, a time even he almost forgets.

At this point Para did the smartest thing she could and shut her mouth before she condemned herself further. When dealing with a gem like the Inquisitor, one could only win by not playing his game. She was nearly finished with scavenging this room for the parts Opalite needed, here gaze more and more drawn towards the large power source she came for. Eventually she felt the need to reply came, the sudden cold shoulder would likely be equally as dangerous, "I must admit, I do wish I could have seen such times. While they seem archaic to our modern systems, there is a bit of charm to them. I will say though, I am surprised to hear that you were at one point not the Grand Inquisitor you are today. Very curious indeed, I'm sure you have many stories." She collected the scrapped items into a neat collection and put them onto a desk, "These should work for what minor repairs you need, however for any major systems you will have better luck visiting the Moon Base. Now, I must complete my own mission. But... you have everything you need to leave. N-Not that I would mind you staying sir!" She was so close to being free of him and his piercing gaze, all she had to do was play it safe and (hopefully) she could leave with her gem intact.

It had grown quiet after he spoke for a few moments... Mr. O was watching the door but still had kept an eye on the Padparadscha gem as she worked her magic on the scrap parts in the ship. He was able to notice how often she was glancing towards the larger gem core in the wall... this was clearly what she had been looking for. "Hmmm..." O had grown rather quiet... his mind was spinning as he thought over what he had been able to gather from this gem.
Even after she had placed the parts he needed onto a table and spoke about the Moon Base and how that's where he could find more parts for more difficult repair. O slowly turned his whole body towards this orange gem, his glowing white eyes locked onto the gem before him... almost burning a hole thought her, it was much easier to tell where he was really looking now. Still without a word O vanished from sight, the blue energy blur engulfing him, again he appears once again directly before the orange gem, his free hand lunging out and grabbing her by her neck and slowly lifting her off the ground and raising her higher up, to where he had to glance up towards her face.
"You REALLY think I don't know whats going on your plebe?! Tell me.... why... you... are.. H̵҉̛E̕͠R̶͡E̸̷?́͏!̀" His smile was unvmoing, his eyes glowing a blazing white... it was his final trick to getting the information he wanted to know without getting violent. She had raised more then one question as to why she was here and what she may have been hiding... then again she might just be scared of him and was trying hard not to seem so.... either way... he would get what he wanted to know at the end of this.

"Hmmm..." That alone sent horrified chills down her back, the following silence and burning glare was purely something of nightmares. It was almost relieving when he disapeared, just to have a moment of those glowing orbs not boring into her eyes, but then logic reasserted itself as she realized what that meant. Before she could react Opalite already had her at his mercy, despite knowing it was pointless she struggled initially. The look on her face was one of pure terror, her body went limp as he addressed her with that twisted voice of his. And that smile, that smile! She couldn't take it much longer, "Grand Inquisitor please! I beg your mercy, I never wished to lie!" She knew if she admitted guilt for her actual crimes he would simply shatter her there if the rumors where true. So instead she went for a last ditch effort, "I was not suppose to tell anyone I was here, or what I was doing. I am suppose to scavenge the ship's power source for use in other facilities. The idea was to deliver it to a secret drop off zone where more technical gems will take care of it from there. I swear that is the truth, I am sorry for not being honest! I only wished to assist as possible..." Despite her story being 'technically' true, at this point fearful tears were bordering her eyes. She could feel the end far closer than she was comfortable with...

Words... or lies?! The Inquisitor with all his wrath awaited oddly passively while she spoke with great fear within her. She was not broken... no she was too mentally strong to be broken so easily. This was just raw fear for her life... he didn't know enough about this gem to know if she was honestly telling the whole truth or not... but she clearly told him something she was indeed hiding from him.
"No one wishes to lie dear.... they wish to not get C̶͟a̴ú҉̛ģ̴h̨t͡!͏" his eyes locked on, burning though her face with such.... almost divine ideology. She spoke a bit more... swearing it was the truth, this was enough for O to let loose his grip, dropping her back to her feet, still close within her personal space.
"Ok dear.... I believe you! Can NEVER be too carful with all these rebels running about... to show you my... acceptance for your honesty!" O reaches into his coat pocket and pulls out a single blue gem... some kind of Zincite by looking at it. It had the faintest touch of corruption that stained a corner of the otherwise rather pretty gem stone. "You seem like one of Homeworlds brightest! Maybe you can do something with this... call it a gift! While the rebels would squander these gems without knowing a thing about them... maybe you can use this hm? Put more use to it then myself darling!" He held out the rather small gem within the palm of his hand out to Para. Clearly rather pleased with the gems 'honesty.'

Para went silent, she didn't trust herself not to reveal anything else that convicted her. When Opalite finally let her go she stayed prone for fear of retaliation, rubbing her sore neck, the internal relief she felt however was indescribable. Perhaps it was just Opalite releasing her, but Para felt like the noose that had been around her neck during this entire mission finally loosened. Slowly she finally stood up as it became clear (well nothing was clear with the Inquisitor) that she wasn't going to get struck again. Despite what happened moments ago, Para's eyes lit up at the offer of this little gem. She slowly took it, "Th...thank you Grand Inquisitor. You have no idea how correct you are." She didn't want to ever see his gaze again yet Para met Opaltie's eyes, "Is there anything else you wish of me?"

Some times it was the hard way that would get the best results, following up with just a sprinkle of kindness just to show he isn't a TOTAL monster of a gem. He also felt that if this gem is being truthful, a reward is more then earned. She seemed quiet grateful for his little gift, while he still had another gem he had planned on using this in his own little... study.
Her gaze finally came to meet his own, it was weird how terrifying his gaze could seem when upset, yet almost friendly and welcoming while at ease. Spinning his cane up under his arm as he thought about if there was anything else he needed, "Hmm.... I would say I am fully ready to make my leave! Just..." He did something this a bit out of place for him normally, and placed a singled gloved hand upon her shoulder, "I would like you to stay loyal, simple yes? It is honestly no longer about these rebels running about... we are losing talented gems every day. We will show not only to the rebels... but the Diamonds themselves how strong we are! Unity though duty, grants passions upon all recipients!"
His words seemed honest and oddly welcoming... they would need all of the strongest and smartest by their side if things were to keep going in their direction. If nothing else, O takes his hand back and with the same hand gives his hat a tip to the young gem. Slowly fades into the blue blur before leaving sight completely, last thing to dissipate from view was his face... the smile and blazing eyes burned into the space where he would be standing before slowly fading away.

Opalite certainly wasn't a gem you could easily make sense of, and something told Para even with years of knowing him you'd likely still find yourself surprised. His sudden generosity following his violent outburst was jarring in its own right. Despite it all though, his kind words were oddly comforting even if he had her neck in a vice minutes earlier. "Thank you Inquisitor, I will keep those words close at heart." And just as suddenly as he had appeared, the Inquisitor was gone. She waited a good long while just to make sure he was gone, letting out a little sigh of relief once she was confident. Now it was time to do as she had planned...
She walked up and started examining the power source, making sure it was in good enough condition for her purposes. Happy with its state she set to work removing it from the wall, paying extra attention as she was aware this may be her only chance at recovering such an artifact. After painstaking work the job was done, and she began carrying the object in both arms back to the nearest warp pad.
This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
