Red was a bit nervous the first time she had walked into beach city. Sure she had been on earth for many years, but she had spent all her time in the forests and woods looking for anything to give to her diamond. Now with her being stuck here for who knows how long she thought she would at least try to study the humans, and how they used the plants of the earth. She walked around the town making little notes about how the humans were acting when they saw her. Her last couple run in with the humans were not always pleasant. Most would just see the gem on her neck and try to poof her to get it. She was making a note about one of the birds she had seen eating something off the ground in her little log not watching where she was going, and walked right into someone which caused her to fall back.
Howlite was walking down the street looking for some prey. Suddenly someone bumped into him. "Hey watch where you're going!" Suddenly he realized this girl was a gem. He then decided to roll out the charm in hopes he could trap it. "My apologies. I mistook you for a human. My name's Howlite. May I help you?" All he could hope was that she'd take the bait. Most gems would never so no to assistance especially those new to this planet. He'd never seen her before so chances were pretty high that he could trap this gem.
Emerald stood up picking up her log shaking her head. "No thank you Howlite I just need to adjust to the new area." She tucked the log away in her bag. "I been trying to stay away from these human towns, but one can only learn so much from the wild before needing to find a new place to gather data." Emerald adjusted her dress a little pushing back some of her hair that had fallen into her face. "I guess from your reaction that the humans around here are not as friendly as others?" She sighed a little shaking her head. "Well at least I met another Gem it has to be at least a decade since I have seen another one."
She wasn't cracking. But he had a few tricks up his sleeve. "Well if its data I've been here for awhile. I could show you around." He then realized his broken gems logo was showing on his hoodie. He quickly shape shifted it into a Yellow Diamond insignia hoping she didn't catch that. "So what brings you to the city if you don't like it?" This may have been perfect. She had no knowledge of the area, giving Howlite the home field advantage. He then smiled at the gem. "Whatever it is you need I'd be happy to help."
Emerald looked up at him as he shifted the Diamond taking a step back from him a little. "Just wanting to see how humans use the many different plants they have on the earth." She adjusted her bag she may be new in town but she wasn't a young gem she could spot a bad seed when she saw one. "I think I can figure it out on my own thank you very much. I have been on earth many many years I think I could figure out a human town." Emerald turned around from the gem heading away from him trying to get away from him and maybe blend in to a crowd of humans on the boardwalk a good distance away from him.
As she left Howlite grinned. "It's so cute when they think they can hide from me." As the gem merged with the crowd of people he switched in his Tracker Vision. And low and behold inside a large human signature was a gem." He then snuck into the crowd and tapped her shoulder. "Where are you going? We were just having fun. I'd hate it if there were a problem here. I simply wish to be your friend." He offered her a handshake and gave her a charming smile. If this didn't work it was time for plan B.
Emerald glanced over her shoulder letting one of her hands slip into her bag. "I don't think I would be interested in your type of fun." As she turned she looked around seeing which way she would have to run in case this turned down a dark path. "Sorry I am not just going to trust someone I met just like that. I have been burned before by others who I thought were my friends it kinda opens your eyes to have someone you called a close friend stab you in the back. So I think it would be best if we just go our separate ways it would just be better for the both of us." She gave him a bright fake smile before heading off her hand still in her bag holding one of her new arrows.
Howlite raised an eyebrow. "Hmmm... Perhaps you're right." He walked away for a few steps. Then he hid behind a building where he couldn't be seen. If that gem thought she could shake him, she had another thing coming. He scanned the area once again. As soon as she left he was going to have to stalk her from a distance. Luckily this was nothing new to him. "Come on you stupid little gem. Walk away already." He sat and waited for his moment to begin his hunt. She just couldn't let him talk to her could she? This just made things worse for her.
Emerald tried to stay within the crowd of humans making sure she was never alone. She could feel the other gems eyes on her and she didn't know how to shake him. Her best bet would be to get back to the forest, but then she would be in easier to track. Though she would have more options to hide. Her hand never left her bag as she walked around hoping to find another gem to maybe help get the first gem off of her trail. She walked into a store going through the clothes keeping an eye on the door to see if he would follow her in or is sticking back which did give her a slight advantage.
"A store? How cliche." He walked through the crowd and entered the store. "Come out come out wherever you are! You can't hide forever." He looked around the store. Where was she. He could just use his Tracker Vision but that wouldn't be any fun at all. She was elusive prey. She would be found one way or another. He summoned his rifle. Since most gems were melee fighter, this gave him a huge advantage in ranged combat. "You've done a good job hiding from me. How bout we just drop the act and you come out?"
Emerald tensed when she heard the voice and hid in one of the dressing rooms. She took in a deep breath trying to calm herself down before summoning her bow slowly trying to mute the glow from her gem with her other hand. She pulled out a quiver of arrows from her bag pulling one out slowly before knotching it in the bow. She stood in front of the door and pulled back on the string aiming the arrow so if he would come in that it would hit him in the shoulder. She held her breath to steady her hands, and clear her mind knowing that this gem meant business. She kept an eye on the curtain not taking her eyes off of it for a second.
Howlite was looking around when he noticed the curtains move. "Gotcha." He marched over and ripped back the curtain when suddenly an arrow hit him in the shoulder. "Ahhh! Why you little--" he drew his rifle an took aim. "I outta kill you right here for that!" He zoomed in his scope. From where she was standing she had several ways she could get past him. But assuming she did he'd have to counter it somehow. Then it hit him. She was a ranged fighter too. There went his advantage. "Make a move loyalist."
Emerald rolled her eyes a little pointing another arrow at him getting ready to shot again. "I have no loyalties to anyone. I got burned by home world I got burned by the gems. I am not willing to take sides in this little war because there is no good side in this war to pick. I pick home world they will ruin all the research I have got from this planet. I chose the gems they will use me until they get tried of me." Emerald pulled back on the bow pointing it at him. "I do not want to fight you. If I wanted to fight I probably would have stayed with my team when I landed, but they chose a side so I left."
Howlite's eyes widened. "you're an independent? Well then I guess there's no point in hiding." He laughed as his insignia turned back into his normal broken gems logo. "Howlite. Knight of the Broken Gems. At your service." Now Howlite had a choice. Make a potential ally. Or make another torture victim. This was a tricky one. He'd enjoy both of them. "Well... I guess I can't just outright kill you just yet. First I wanna know why you do what you do. Me? I'm an anarchist. I do it for the sake of chaos."
Emerald tilted her head a little. "Why do I study plants? I don't know because they can so so many different things. I guess the reason i do anything is for the sake of Knowledge if you can find a reason behind something you can use it to your advantage. Like one of the plants in my bag I found if a gem who likes eating rats it that it will cause the gem to poof. It was quite funny to see her reform it gave me plenty of time to study her gem. Of course she soon attacked me afterwards, so I left not really needing anything out of her anymore. I moved on to the next gem I came across found what I could use them for and just moved on when I was done."

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
