ooc// open to one, maybe two people! you should definitely know that my replies are reeeeally sporadic, though. Like, it could range from another post in a few hours to another post in a few weeks. Most likely the latter.

Sometimes, it was so incredible the amount of trouble a gem could get into on this planet, that it had Kyan scratching his head. He never would have guessed back in classes on the homeworld that humans had it so rough. It made their ability to survive and evolve all the more admirable--though now wasn't quite the time to think about such things, oh no.
Now was the time to shriek and cling for dear life, nails digging into the slimy exterior of one particularly large, aggressive creature that cut through ocean waves like a knife. It was precise, it was agile, and it was very, very angry that Kyan had been out for some afternoon surf. The frantic gem boy grit his teeth, wincing as froth and foam slapped up from waving tentacles and whipped across his face, all sorts of seaweed and salt tagging along. A crab fell out from his hair with a violent shake of his head, leaving him squirming in his drenched blue skin. This was exactly the reason the ocean floor was terrifying: it was a breeding ground for disgusting crustaceans.
And giant monster squids, that too. The beast currently mounted, Kyan assumed a corrupt gem from the glittering piece at the base of its fins, let out a mangled fusion of a hiss and screech, whipping with all its strength to dislodge the rider. But Kyan wouldn't budge. To fall off now, this far out from the coastaline's protection, he was wise--or just paranoid--enough to see would be lead to a certain, watery demise. Frankly, dying would just put a damper on his day.
"Stop wiggin' out!" He yelped, scraping for a better hold and squeezing his thighs harder around the corrupted gem, inadvertently smashing his heel into its eye. "This is obscene!" Man, did most humans have to tackle things like this in every day life? Kyan could say this was a first for him.
A tentacle twisted around, clubbing him in the jaw. He was tossed into the water with a splash. At this point even if his surf board wasn't splintered into pieces it would be of no use. Kyan was a strong paddler, but no match for a creature of the deep. His airboard wouldn't fair too well over liquid, either. In short, he was doomed, about to become dinner for calamari itself. What an absolutely brilliant start to the afternoon.
