What a strange and curious place, this Beta Kindergarten. - Unlike its Primary peer, it was a very broken-down and worn structure, abandoned for perhaps too long. Even when it was active, it wasn't a host to perfect Quartz soldiers like the Primary Kindergarten in Facet 5. - Instead, this one was hosting holes that clearly showed signs of being hastily-made and scrambled just to bolster Homeworld with some quick, instant soldiers.
Obviously, nowadays most of the holes are all open and the Gems left their place of incubation.. Perhaps all but one last hole. This hole happened to belong to a little Gem that was soon about to meet the light of day for the first time in their entire, long life. - They would get to see who and what they are... Or they would, if Homeworld still catered to this place.
Oh, how great would have it been if this little one knew what they were supposed to be, but they didn't. - With a loud crack, some sort of an unaware rascal Jasper popped out of a tiny hole, not standing taller than a Ruby.
"HELLO WORLD!"
They proclaimed loudly in an excited manner, stretching their limbs for the first time. - Sadly, nobody was there to answer the little and confused Gem. - The only thing that answered their calls was an echo from the walls of the Kindergarten.
"Hello...."
It faintly echoed back. - For a moment, the Jasper thought that perhaps somebody is answering them, and so they decided to run towards the direction of the sound.
"HELLO?!"
They shouted again, hearing the echo answer from a completely different direction. - Once more happy, the tiny orange Gem ran towards the echo, only to be disappointing again once they realized nobody was in this direction either.
"Huh... I guess I'm all alone here. - Wait... who am I even?"
Jasper said blandly towards the wind, seating herself onto a nearby rock in confusion. - Suddenly, the moment of silence was pierced by a light sob... Perhaps finally Jasper won't be alone any longer. Maybe they will even get to meet a new friend. - Excited by this simple thought, Jasper ran towards the direction of the light sob. - There, a Pearl was sitting, hands wrapped around her knees and head folded between them... They were crying and felt very sad.
"Hello... are you sad?"
The Jasper asked, sitting next to the Pearl. - The Pearl would only briefly turn towards the little piece of Quartz. Somehow, she wasn't afraid of Pearl and so wasn't Pearl afraid of Jasper.
"Very.."
She answered sadly, upon which the Jasper reacted with a confused look. - She didn't know what being sad really meant, to her it was just a word. - Still, she knew sad wasn't a good thing and so she tried to cheer Pearl up by hugging her and saying the following.
"Well, don't be sad... Or else you will make me sad too."
Jasper looked Pearl high up into her eyes before dropping her strong, Quartz-like hug. Her inquisitive nature couldn't give her a rest. With this in mind, Jasper had so many questions for Pearl about Pearl and about herself too.
"Uhm.... do you know who I am?"
She asked the crying, tall being with yellow skin in a shy manner, still unaware of her purpose. - Pearl's mind was suddenly filled with an idea that she felt was best. Instead of telling Jasper who she really was supposed to be, she would tell her the following.
"Well.. I suppose you are Jasper. - But really now.. who do you think you want to be?"
Pearl answered quietly, clearing the final drops of tears that were running down her cheek just a moment ago. - This cheered up Jasper a little, as she finally knew her name. She replied to the Pearl with widened eyes and even wider smile.
"JASPER?! - I like that."
She proclaimed happily, clapping. - Clearly, her young mind can still be saved from the terrible influence Pearl's previous 'friends' had on her. Jasper could now become someone entirely new, someone who isn't bound by terrible regulations or stupid rules. - She could be her own person, living on this beautiful world... And so could Pearl, even if she didn't know it yet.
