He noticed Flurry was scared. Hang on Slugger I got you. He hefted Flurry up and put her in a piggy back ride. You good? Let's go buy this place. He slowly walked her into the manager's office. He set Flurry down in a seat next to him. He then sat down. The manager smiled. "Ah yes. You're here for my club?" He saw Flurry. "Is she yours? I'd never peg you for the father type." Howlite chuckled. Oh no she's not my daughter. Just a friend. Now then how much will this cost me? "100 thousand dollars." Very well. You wouldn't believe how much money you save when you don't eat or pay taxes or buy groceries. It keeps me very wealthy. Here you are. He signed the documents and wrote a check. Now it was his. We did it Slugger. Teddy's is now open for business.
Flurry smiled and looked around the manager's office. She didn't know what kinds of things went on in a club, but she liked parties, and this seemed like the place. She secretly wanted to squeeze the manager's droopy cheeks but held in the urge. She looked at the manager with a look of confusion as he mistook Flurry for Howlite's offspring. She just continued to absentmindedly look around afterward. Once Howlite had finished buying the club, Flurry wasn't sure exactly what he did, but he was excited so she was too.
"Yay! Teddy! " She giggled, giving him a hug. "So What are we gonna do first?! "
Flurry grinned dutifully, expecting some sort of action.
"What will Teddy's do? Will it raise funds for the crystal gems...or make a lazer gun to shoot the homeworld ships!? Or what!? "
Howlite grinned at Flurry's excitement. Then she asked the question. He quietly led her to a private booth and sat down. Slugger... I need you to understand something. How do I put this? You and Pearl are my friends. Ergo I will not hurt you both in any way. However I do not support either Homeworld or the Crystal Gems. I will not kill them. But I will fight if I have to. The money will help you and Pearl. Whether or not you help your cause with it is up to you. I just want you to understand that I still agree with the Broken Gems in the sense that both sides need to go away. Here's where my whole "spy" thing comes in. I will warn you and Pearl to avoid places we plan to target. And I will give you any and all captured rebels. When I said I would help, I said you. Not the rebels. But if you think about it I'm technically doing that by helping you.
Flurry's confident expression remained throughout most of Howlite's speech. She continued to grin and hold her fist high. As he spoke her fist slowly sank. Her smile was the last thing to fade. For a long while she had a look that was neither a smile nor a frown. This then faded more into a frown. She used her hand to prop up her head.
"You don't like homeworld right? They all think you're some super scary dude! They probably don't like you... and they don't like us too! " She said, still leaning on her hand. "I think you would make a pretty good rebel... but I get it if you don't want to. I just want you to be friends with all of the rebels... I'm sure they'd like you. "
Howlite smirked. Well they think that for a reason. I was good at my job... too good. Worst of all? I enjoyed it. I don't believe Homeworld hates me. I think they're afraid. I've proven myself to be a more powerful weapon than any Howlite. In 1000 years of life I've managed to shatter 180 non corrupted gems. Countless corrupted ones. I did all this without ever missing a shot or being detected. But you see, I never killed them right away. I had to interrogate them first. But yes I hate Homeworld. And as much as I'd like to, I can't befriend the rebels. I've spilled too much blood. I've betrayed them. They'd never trust me no matter what I did.
She looked at him in awe for a while as he spoke. She had never imagined that he would be like that. She frowned as he spoke about what he did to the gems. She almost wished that she could in-hear him as he spoke. After a while it became too much to bear and she looked away from him. When he had finished speaking she was still looking away. There was a pause that lasted for about ten seconds. She fidgeted a bit. She then turned toward him but was looking down at her lap. She reached out her hand and grabbed his hand. She looked into his eyes sadly for a few seconds.
A tear rolled down his cheek. You have no idea how much that means to me. You wanna know why I call you Slugger? It's because when we first met, you were so kind and sweet in direct contrast to my cruel and evil. It felt like I'd been hit with a deer slug when you told me I wasn't a bad guy. And that's why I call you Slugger all the time. I actually got into a huge fight with Sulfur over you. Well technically a hallucination of you but whatever. So what happened was, I saw your face when I betrayed you and it broke something inside of me. So Boss tries to cheer me up with a monster hunt. I couldn't do it. Every time I saw a monster, I saw you. And I just couldn't pull the trigger. What I'm saying is... you seem to bring out the best in me.
By the time he had finished Flurry was smiling and had tears in her eyes. She didn't know what a deer slug is, or understand what the part about the hallucination of her meant, but she was deeply moved by his words. She held his hand while smiling at him.
"I...knew there was good in your Howlite. It doesn't matter that kinds of bad stuff you did a long time ago... everyone deserves another chance... I don't care about who you were back then. All that matters is who you are now... you're a good guy Howlite... you're even nice to that awful green guy... " Flurry wiped the tears from her eyes. "I doubt even I could do that... I think that you were a really good guy, but you just didn't know it yet... "
Howlite smiled as she spoke. Thanks Slugger. Perhaps you're right. My soul may be twisted and mangled beyond all recognition but at least it's there. You know, I really meant what I said. In case you don't already know I have some uh personality issues. I can never stay in just one personality. But around you, I can. I can actually focus. Hmmm... How bout we go have some fun eh? Tonight's Kareoke Night. He led her to the stage. He handed her a microphone then grabbed one for himself. He faced the crowd. So I'm sure you have hatred for Crystal Gems right? One of the patrons threw a knife at Flurry but Howlite caught it before it hit her. I'll take that as yes. But Morion has been lying to you. Crystal Gems aren't as bad as you think. And to prove it.... here's a song to you from me and my best friend Flurry. Howlite turned on the music then began to sing. That's great. It starts with an earthquake, birds, snakes, an aeroplane, Lenny Bruce is not afraid. Eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn. World serves it's own needs, dummy serve your own needs. Feed it off an aux speak, grunt, no, strength. Ladder start to clatter with fear down fight, height. Wire in a fire, playing several games, a government for hire in a combat site. He cued for Flurry join in.
"If you really were in as bad of a situation as you think you are then you wouldn't be asking to be my friend. " Flurry said with a smile. "My policy is that if you want forgiveness you deserve it! Anybody who really wants to change can! Nobody can't change! "
She giggled but then her smile turned into an expression of curiosity as he mentioned Kareoke night. She had no clue what that was, but watched him. Suddenly a random human threw a knife at her. She was about to tell Howlite that it wasn't worth it to attack anyone there, as they were just misguided. She had half expected him to start slaughtering as many humans as he could. That would be a poor move as many humans occupied the building, most of which were probably armed. Flurry was more concerned with the humans though, as she knew many of them could die if Howlite were to snap. Instead however, Howlite started to sing. It was a song she had heard before. She then joined in when he gave the cue.
"Left her, wasn't coming in a hurry With the furies breathing down your neck. Team by team reporters baffled, trump, tethered crop. Look at that low plane! Fine, then. Uh oh, overflow, population, common group, But it'll do. Save yourself, serve yourself. World serves its own needs, listen to your heart bleed."
Howlite smiled as Flurry sang then joined in. "Tell me with the rapture and the reverend and the right, right. You vitriolic, patriotic, slam, fight, bright light. Feeling pretty pretty psyched. It's the end of the world as we know it. It's the end of the world as we know it. It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine. Six O'CLOCK T.V hour, don't get caught in foreign tower, slash and burn, return, listen to yourself churn, lock him in the uniform and book burning blood letting. Every motive escalate, Automotive incinerate, light a candle, light a motive, step down, step down. Watch a heel crush, crush. Uh oh this means no fear; cavalier. Renegade and steer clear. A tournament, a tournament, a tournament of lies. Offer me solutions, offer me alternatives and I decline!" He cued Flurry then summoned his rifle. He held it like it was a guitar and did a fake solo as Flurry sang.
Flurry smiled as he did his 'solo' on his rifle. She held her broken screwdriver as if it were a microphone. She leaned forward and put both hands on the mic as she sang. She bobbed up and down to the music and her pigtails also bounced.
"It's the eeeend of the woooorld as we know iiiit! It's the end of the world as we know it! It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fiiiiine! I feel fine!
It's the end of the wooooorld as we know it! It's the end of the wooooorld as we know it It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fiiiine! "
She stepped back and forth on the stage, unable to keep still as she would sing.
Howlite smiled as she bounced around on the stage. Unfortunately some of the humans didn't like the performance. "She's a rebel! Capture her!" It was the man who threw the knife. At first Howlite didn't care. Then the human charged at Flurry! In one swift motion, Howlite kicked out the guy's legs and slammed his head into the ground. He wasn't dead. Just unconscious. He dragged the man away from the stage. He put himself in front of Flurry in a defensive position. "Anyone else?" No one dared go against him at this point. He turned back to Flurry. "Sorry about that Slugger. Some of my clients are Loyal supporters. They are easy to deal with though.... How about we do another song? You still remember our duet from the road trip?"
Flurry however seemed to be a bit dazed. She wobbled about as if lightheaded, mumbling quietly.
"It's end of the wooorld as we know iiiit..." She mumbled, collapsing on the ground. She had apparently run out of breath, if that was even possible for a gem. She sat up on the floor and shook her head. "Teddy I don't think I can do another number, I'm all tuckered out... What I could have is some water and sushi! "
Flurry then looked at the floor and stood up. She tapped the tips of her fingers together in a nervous sort of way. She shifted her weight back and forth as she approached Howlite.
Howlite smiled. "Yeah I suppose. Come 'ere." He picked her up and walked to the booth where he sat Flurry on his lap. He then turned to one of his waiters. "Hey Butch come over here." A rather heavy set human approached them. "Yeah?" Howlite smiled. "Get this little girl some Sushi. Make sure Jack makes it. He's good with seafood. Also have Johnny bring her some water as well." Butch left for a little while and soon came back with a tray of sushi and a bottle of water. He set them on the table and walked away. Howlite chuckled. "oh I just love having human workers. They're good company. Plus they're easy to manage. They're smart enough not to mess with me."

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
