The sun beat down upon the sidewalks of Empire City. The skyscrapers glistened remorselessly upon the strees below and the inhabitants that strode upon them. Summer was indeed breaking upon the region and the city bustled with even more foot traffic than usual, as the humans who shunned the chilly weather were now out in droves, enjoying the sights, and streets and fountains and really.. anything and everything the cosmopolitan center had to offer in terms of seaonal enjoyment. Even the large central park area with the small lake were buzzing with visitors, enjoying the cool water, shade of the trees and the gravel running paths.
Somewhere in between M Tower and the Park Area a figure was hopping along the sidewalk, enjoying the warmth in the air, but undaunted by it as well. This figure was a pearl.. Plum Pearl to be exact, and it had been a few days since she had last stepped foot outside of the Tower. As a matter of fact, she had been keeping somewhat to herself even while within the walls of the glimmering human spire. She had even heard that the tower's master had come upon another pearl himself, but she hadn't ventured to meet this other pearl yet either. She had been, rather, busily plowing the human information net, absorbing all she could about her missing time on earth, spend bound to a book, and merging it with what access she had to static data from the gem archives made available to her from Morion.
After enouhg of this mind numbing drudgery, she felt she had filled in a bit of the gaps in her comprehension of earth and its situation for now, so she headed out to hit the streets once more, and make some of her own memories on the planet, rather than relying solely on secon hand information.
With that she hit the streets and melted into the foot traffic, abstaining from riding on the roofs of trolly cars this time, she takes it slow and, after bumping into a few people as she gazed up at the structures, she had found her rhythem in the flow of it all, and was comfortably cruising along until a glimmer caught her eye..
That glimmer was more of a cart.. a snow cone cart, and while other gems she had heard were somewhat squeamish of trying human food, she, on the other hand, had been on earth some time, even if some memories were missing, and so eating was nothing new to her.. althuogh the snow cones were! So there she sat by a fountain in a plaza, swinging her feet in the air, as she sat on the edge of the water gushing structure, and gazed into the crowd for the next thing that would catch her eye, that is, unless she caught something else's first..
