Sulfur charged down a spiral staircase. As they ran he stabbed the occasional Pirate, almost as if he didn't notice them. As Sulfur and Variscite reached the final floor they were faced with a great gate. Sulfur smiled and looked at the gate. He turned toward Variscite with a dramatic grin.
"This is what we've been looking for. The warp pad is just past this gate. Once we open it, we'll be swarmed by the enemy. Get ready for the worst that a human can give." Sulfur smiled and summoned his blades. He smirked and opened the gate. Out rushed dozens of pirates with their blades ready. Sulfur charged against them with all of his blades ready. It looked as if he would be able to take all of them on, but not easily.
Variscite grinned sadistically as the men came to her.
Trouble? They were humans...
Although they are quite muscular...
The Broken Gem leapt into the air and extended her grapples.
As soon as two pirates came to her with their scimitars drawn, she shot the grapples through their chests and reeled her self in, cutting of their heads cleanly with her short swords upon reaching them.
As six more closed in, she pulled her grapples out, removing a large percentage of the dead men's torsos and latched on to more enemies. An inquiring observer would expect the killer to use her gem weapons at this moment, yet the curious female decided to use the momentum the grapples gave her to eliminate her foes with her body alone.
Martial arts were terrifying in the hands of weak people alone and a professional martial artist is practically a man armed with a machine gun at all times. That skill combined with a gem's natural superior strength, resulted in lethal, bare combat. Heads went rolling when Variscite round house kicked her opponent's. She would sometimes skid into a pirate with her extensions and use her momentum to head-butt him, destroying his entire cranium and emerging from the bloody mess. In the first ten seconds, she had killed eighteen people.
Sulfur flicked his wrist about effortlessly as his blades sliced through the pirates. Had there not been so many the odds of Sulfur actually getting attacked would've been zero, but due to the sheer number of opponents there was a frequent pirate who got past his blades. However, Sulfur could easily mince these foes with a quick swing. He winced as some blood splattered on his cheek. He pulled a handkerchief from his pocket to dab the disgusting platter off of his face.
In a total of twenty seconds Variscite and Sulfur had destroyed the group. Sulfur smiled and nodded at her.
"They may have seemed untrained, but their sheer numbers would have been too much for either of us alone. It was wise of me to bring you along." Sulfur said. "However... these opponents were weak. I feel I have learned nothing from this. Don't you feel the same? This is the problem with fighting the weak. The benefit is like them... minimal."
Variscite smiled as she desummoned her gem weapons, leaving a gapping hole in the crainium of a hollowed out pirate. The gem then proceeded to break down the man's bones with her hands and roll him, molding his corpse until it appeared to be a block of human flesh and blood. The curious gem studied her artwork for a few seconds before nodding to Sulfur and using it as a makeshift seat.
"I agree that the weak yield minimal combat expertise. However I believe it is still beneficial to fight them in order to gain tangible experience in the art of disfiguring and incapacitating their bodies, like the reword one earns from sparing with a punching bag or reading about human anatomy. The knowledge can sometimes apply to more challenging opponents."
Variscite held up an eye ball and softly squeezed it at first, only latter using enough force to crush it.
Sulfur looked at her with an unreadable expression. It was an expression he made when facing utmost confusion, an expression he used to make often, as he understood little. Sulfur did however smile a bit as she crushed the eyeball.
"There is some truth in what you have said. These humans are a lot like punching bags now that I consider it. I only have seen them as inanimate objects but a punching bag would be a perfect example of an inanimate object... Maybe I should hunt humans more often... or just keep one human and attack it?" Sulfur thought aloud. "Are you ready to leave this place for now? Or do you have any more questions...? This will be the closing of our mission."
"... Yes. I am readly to leave this place. But, just one moment."
Variscite pulled the teeth out of the mouth of a pirate. She then proceeded to gather organs, tendons, clothes, weapons, jewlry, books, contraptions, a large amount of treasure, and many other different body parts and store them all in her gem. The intrigued thief planed on learning more about the possessions she obtained.
"Now I am set."
Variscite moved to the warp pad and stood on it, taking in one final look.
The place they were in, these caverns seemed just like something one would expect in a pirate movie. The looter felt almost as if she was in Pirate's of The Caribbean, defeating a large army of pirates and taking their treasure.
Sulfur charged toward the warp pad and leapt into the air, somersaulting midair, and then landing on it. The beam of light warped him away. The cave became so silent that one's ears would ring from the lack of noise. This absolute silence was only interrupted by the occasional drop of water that came off of a stalactite and landed on the cold stone floor.
The dead humans were in another area of the cave, and the dead silence made it seem as if none of the recent events had taken place. The warp pad twinkled in the moonlight. It looked strangely in place in the middle of the cave, yet one could not describe why. It was a strange sight.
Variscite marveled at the silence of the cave once Sulfur exited. It was as if a curtain had fallen on what had been a bloody and action filled battle field. The calmness of the area that took the place of the previous climax now suggested that the show had come to an end.
As Variscite prepared to leave, she felt eyes watching her, familiar eyes. A wave of despair washed over the unfortunate gem as she turned to face her white hooded nemeses.
Variscite smiled darkly, yet almost sadly as she turned around.
"So your here."
The man in the white hoodie and white pants cocked his head and resumed staring at the female gem in an extremely unsettling way as he had done on numerous other occasions before this one.
"What even are you. Are you a death, come to take my life; my judgement, here to punish me for hurting and stealing from others; a ghost back from the dead; materializing now to haunt me; the ghost of Chalcedony, my captor? Are you a demon; the Devil, even?"
The man continued to stare.
"Answer me, freak" the irritated gem hissed.
Does this character even exist? He may not since I was the only one who ever saw him. No. Flurry say him too. Was she also an illusion? Heh. Thanks to this monster, I am stating to doubt even some of the most certain events in my life. This specter feels like the physical manifestation of all my life's problems. OOooohhhhh... Why can't I bring myself to kill you?
The phantom-like being was still looking at his target, unmoving.
"Fine" Variscite replied sardonically. "I can play this game as long as I have to."
She turned and began to stare at her opponent with hatred and mockery in her eyes.
Three hours passed with the two characters staring at each other.
"I-I w-won't be th-the f-first to look awhaayy" shuddered the disturbed and scared gem.
I can't lose! I can't!
After the passing of eight more hours, Variscite's composer crumbled and she retreated into the warp pad, beaten.
The fiend casually watched the gem leave; having not even twitched a finger since the start of their encounter. When Variscite reached the Broken Gem castle, she went quietly into the bed room she placed her belongings in and locked the door. It took all the gem had to not poof from mental exhaustion and lack of blinking or moving muscles for such a long period of time. The disturbed fighter ground her teeth together so hard that they broke and then began screaming repeatedly into her pillows until she passed out.
