Name: Zoisite (Zoe/Zoren)
Appeared Gender: Male
Appeared Age: 24
Gemstone: Zoisite
Gemstone Location: Small of their back. Near the topmost vertebrae of what would be their spine.
Faction: Refused to join the rebellion, but has abandoned the Diamond Authority.
Corrupted:No
Appearance: Zoisite usually attempts to blend in with humans, using clever makeup effects and formative magic to avoid revealing their true identity. Whether disguised or casual, they appear as a slender male, usually well-dressed in dark colors. Zoisite makes sure, however, to wear clothes that come up high on the neck, so as to hide their gem both from unsuspecting humans and potential attackers.
Personality: Zoisite is usually a brash, impolite character toward strangers, often picking fights over things that don’t really matter. Generally, their opponent is human, which leads to even more carelessness and disconcern for others’ well being. When around familiar faces, however, Zoisite is more polite and restrained, despite his instincts. He's calm and calculating, able to count cards and understand a given set of numerical possibilities. He's cunning, and never careless, paying attention to small details which may be out of place.
Despite their attitude, Zoisite is incredibly protective of anyone considered to be a friend. He isn’t opposed to fusion, but will try at all costs to avoid fusing with other gems, simply because gems of his own kind are rare, and it’s dangerous and even disrespectful to fuse with unlike gems.
Likes/Dislikes: Zoisite enjoys gambling with humans, mainly due to his ability to fix dice, cause illusions, and many other things that shift the game unfairly in his favor. All he cares about outside of his relationships is acquiring more human currency and making a name for himself as a ‘human’.
He dislikes trying to make or find new relationships, often choosing to stick only to humans or familiar gems, despite them being so few and far between.
Fears: More than anything else, Zoisite fears the death of his friends, be they gems or humans. He is blissfully unaware of the danger that current events hold, as he’s been out of the loop for more than two hundred years, hiding on earth and trying to exist as a human.
Weapon: Small, throwable blades, sometimes appearing in the form of humans’ playing cards, other times as shurikens. He's able to conjure three or four at a time, and is skilled enough to use them defensively, folding the cards or blades to block attacks.
Ability 1:Disguise: This particular gem has become incredibly talented in changing his form, and can hold a non-gem appearance for several hours without repercussion. He can even disguise himself as other gems. However, he can’t hide his gem, which will always appear on his back or on some equivalent.
History: When Zoisite was younger he was under Blue Diamond's jurisdiction. He and his friends would often travel about Homeworld, mocking or impersonating historical figures and authority. Zoisite, in a tragic turn, witnessed his two best friends being shattered at the hands of one of Diamond Authority’s political figures after one of their pranks went too far. Zoisite was spared death, only because he never shifted out of his mock form and was able to wait until the situation dissolved itself. Since then, Zoisite has left the Diamond Authority’s domain, frequenting Earth. He couldn’t live bearing the thought that he was responsible for the two gems’ deaths, and swore never to be who he truly was ever again, deciding instead to pretend to be someone else as often and as potently as he could. Now, he seeks to become rich through gambling in human casinos. He’s known to be a high roller, often going all in for no particular reason, simply because he knows he can change the outcome of the game.
Character Arcs:
• Zoisite will come to terms with his past, learning that it’s okay to be himself.
• Zoisite will give more consideration to Rose Quartz, and perhaps share some allegiance with the rebellion.
• Zoisite, after losing his physical form in battle, will be at conflict with his internal issues, not wanting to reform as a gem, despite having too little power to fake a new form.
• Zoisite will have a confrontation with a Sapphire, or a fusion containing a sapphire, and underestimate his opponent. When defeated, he will begin to question his worth as an individual, a conflict which will be resolved either by a close friend or the very sapphire he was bested by.
