They stood in stone-faced silence as the small gem turned away, the cold fear that lived still in their gut not allowing anything but anger to show upon their paler-than-usual face. Their entire body was pulsating, throbbing as it became once again used to itself. “Theres.. there is nothing to remember! N-nothing to contend with.” The quartz refused even that, brushing off the little Pyrope’s claim as yet another tidbit of pro-fusion nonsense.
Clenching their fist with a set jaw, 7XB took a step backwards, ever closer to the dense treeline. Much of it was too for the burly gem to pass through, but they would most certainly find a means of egress if need be. While logically 7XB knew that it would be ridiculous to flee from the gems- they were far from dangerous to a quartz- every muscle was pulling them in the opposite direction. In spite of what the Pyrope was trying to say, they heard none of it. They wouldn't.
Pyre watched with a look that at first seemed disinterested, but even his usual glare failed to hide the surprise on his face at XB's reaction. He merely held up his hands and backed away a couple feet, "Alright, have it your way. If this is where we part ways, then fine. I know it isn't us you're running away from anyways, is it. We're just a couple of pyropes who don't know any better."
He continued his passive retreat away from XB, "Go and do whatever you do as a quartz then. Go be tough and independent if that's what you want, I'm sure this isn't the last time we'll run into one another. It's a small world after all..."
Pyre began backing off towards Pye now, slowly at first giving XB a last chance to say something or make a move. Although he wasn't exactly expecting much, he knew they weren't exactly in a good mind set at the moment. Reasoning with them probably would get him nowhere, at least not right now it seemed.
With the discord that rampaged through the Quartz right now, the last thing they needed was to be told twice or really even once, to leave. Even being in such close proximity to the two gems they had just unwittingly fused with seemed dangerous, as if they could somehow be pulled back into that horrific combination simply by getting too close. Logically they knew better than that, but nothing about this situation was logical.
Namely? The fact that they had agreed to the attempt at all, a fault in judgement and self-control that 7XB would no doubt beat themselves up over for a long time. The shadowy protection of the treeline was a heartbeat away, though the Quartz seemed hesitant, if not for traditional reasons. They stepped backwards uneasily, finally turning and casting a final, regretful look fearful in the direction of the Pyropes. And then they were gone. Well, out of sight anyway, as they could be heard tramping through the underbrush a good distance.
He frowned upon seeing XB had no intention of backing down from their defensive stance. He turned around and slowly closed the distance between him and Pye.
Pye had been seated on a fallen log a fair distance away where she couldn't hear the majority of the argument, although XB's voice managed to carry when they would occasionally raise their voice. When Pyre came up to her she was nervously pulling at her hair, the majority of her face being covered by the massive fluff of her hair. The one eye visible looked up to Pyre in silence, tear stains still visible on her face.
Pyre sat down next to hear and put an arm around her shoulder, "It wasn't anyone's fault Pye, you know that right? We tried are best." He managed to get a weak nod out of her but it wasn't convincing. Pye leaned into him and finally spoke, "I just thought we were doing so well. It was going well but then we could feel it. They... they were hurt. I thought we could have..." Tears were threatening to spring back up so Pyre held her close and rested his head on her, "I know, I know. There's nothing more to be done, that isn't our fight to win. I'm sure that won't be the last time we see them."
The two spent a few more minute in each other's embrace before Pyre helped her up, "We shouldn't stay here too long, we can relax back at the lighthouse. I'll even get you one of those cake things you like." She nodded, and with a small smile, joined him as the two began the walk all the way back to Beach City.

Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
