Name: Thulite Facet-1C9K Cut-2DQ
Appeared Gender: female
Appeared Age: approximately 30 years old
Gemstone: octagonal, pink, it appears to be a bit cloudy
Gemstone Location: Her gemstone replaces her left eye
Faction: currently aligned with Homeworld
Corrupted: no, but should she become corrupted, this is what she'd look like:
Appearance:
Thulite stands 5’3 feet tall and has a very slender build. Her facial features are bordering on skeletal, with pronounced cheekbones and thin lips. Her right eye is narrow and diagonal, its pupil grey, and her gemstone is in place of her left eye. She appears to be constantly scowling.
Grey spots on her cheeks and shoulders are reminiscent of freckles.
Her skin is a dark pink, her hair of a lighter shade, pulled into a strict bun.
She still wears her uniform, even though her profession is now obsolete. It is a tight dress that reaches her ankles, the top piece is of a very dark, almost violet pink, and the bottom part is the same hue as her hair.
Personality:
Thulite needs routine, a purpose and a clear set of rules to survive like humans need oxygen.
She lives, well, used to live for her work. She can get very absorbed in her work towards her goal, and gets very irritated when distracted or interrupted. When left to her own devices, faced with an unknown situation, she tends to overthink things. It is very easy to get her into a state of panic, just present her with a simple choice and watch the mayhem unfold.
Her own wellbeing is her primary goal, and she is ready to go to great lengths to achieve it. She has often been called a coward, and at this point, it doesn’t really bother her anymore. Even though she tries to be a good person, and would rather help a fellow gem than hurt them, but her own safety will always be more important to her, and she will always choose to save herself rather than others.
She is definitely no fighter, and will always attempt to talk herself out of difficult situations, and when push comes to shove, she will bail.
While she is not afraid of social situations, Thulite certainly prefers her peace and quiet, with nothing to distract her from her current objective.
Likes/Dislikes:
Likes:
+ a bit of peace and quiet
+ the unusual weather phenomena that can be observed on earth, like polaris or ball lightning
+ having a goal to work towards
+ her hard work being acknowledged
+ the local plantlife
+ praise
Dislikes:
- Distractions of any kind
- Most animals on earth (why are they all so loud?)
- shapeshifting ( a tremendous waste of energy, in her opinion
- most Quartzes (the ones she’s had experiences with are all so loud and boisterous)
Fears:
- Change
- Being obsolete
- The clouding of her gem (more on that under History)
Weapon:
A bronze diapason (tuning fork), that, when struck, emits a deep, rumbling infrasound that is very painful to the physical construct of any gem except the holder of the weapon, and even capable of temporarily disrupting it, causing it to glitch. The glitching mostly disrupts the gems density, making them heavier or lighter, either restricting their movements to a slower pace, throwing their balance and aim off. This effect lasts for 1 post, 2 posts, should the gem be weakened beforehand. The size of the gem has no effect on this, and it takes a whole lot of concentration to combat the attack. So, a very strongwilled Pearl would recover faster than a gigantic Quartz without any strong inclination to capture Thulite.
Once struck, it takes a while for the diapason to be usable again, depending of the intensity of the strike, this timespan can reach from half a minute to half an hour.
Ability 1:
Paramedic: Thulite has healing powers, but because of her status as a very ancient model, her powers aren’t nearly as effective as that of a Rose Quartz. Her powers are more about damage control. She can stop a crack from spreading, or alleviate the symptoms of a deep crack, minimizing its effects on the cracked gem's physical form.
Ability 2:
Diagnosis: During this ability, the gem in place of her left eye will light up. She can scan technology for basic information about energy output, input, and errors (she certainly is no Peridot, in fact, she was made before Peridots and Rose Quartzes were created, therefore having basic abilities in their respective fields, scan gems for invisible cracks, cloudiness or corruptions, scan fusions for information about their components, scan exit holes for information about the gem that emerged from it.
Fusions: none yet
History:
Thulite is old, even by gem standards. She emerged way before Pink Diamond did, she has seen millennia go by. Since she emerged from one of the thousands of kindergarten sites on Homeworld, it has been her job to fix things. Faulty machinery, defective gems, she was the one who was called to diagnose errors and repair what could be saved.
She served as a technician on ships, she inspected freshly emerged gems of every variety on kindergartens across the conquered galaxy, she healed injured soldiers while they fought for uncolonized planets.
It was a repetitive task, but Thulite loved every second of it. She liked being able to help gems, and she liked the praise of her superiors when she once again had surpassed her obligatory quotas even more.
But with Pink Diamond and her progress in the field of medicine, new gems were created, that could heal gems more efficiently and hold their own in battle. Peridots proved themselves to be more skilled with machinery and cheaper to produce. Thulites became obsolete, and slowly started to disappear. The Diamonds had simply stopped replacing them when they shattered.
And Thulite’s profession went from paramedic and technician to judging whether a gem on death row was fit for harvesting or needed to be shattered. But she did her best, and she came by.
Then, the memory lapses began. Short, at first, forgetting a benign appointment or two, but soon they turned into her not being able to recall if she was to scan a Topaz or a Jasper, and even what she had done the day prior. Thulite, of course, recognized the symptoms. Her gem was getting cloudy, a defect that occured regulary in older models due to faulty injectors. It wasn't a major defect, and procedures existed to correct it. But Thulite knew better than reporting her defect: The Diamonds would hardly waste resources on an ancient model like her, and would harvest, or worse, shatter her immediately.
No, Thulite had to keep up an act of unprecedented efficiency.
She was ecstatic to be reassigned to the new colony of earth, it was so far away from Homeworld, it might even be out of the Diamonds’ reach. Maybe, if she just records detailing her arrival and discrepancies that might draw attention to her disappear, she might just be able to live undetected.
Character Arcs:
Because Thulite is morally very flexible, I could imagine Thulite either becoming an ally of the C. C. R., because maybe her expertise in gem defects might be able to help, or becoming an ally of the Homeworld gems on earth, trying to prove her worth despite her outdatedness.
