Jazz nodded as Padparadscha came over and commented on the nature of this place. She continued to follow her deeper into the cavern, catching up and staying close to Para. Jazz wants to know more about this gem, on a personal level... she might be putting her life in her hands after all. But that also leaves the possibility of her ending up hating Jazz and creating a new problem that neither of them wanted... Well this might be a calculated risk but...
"So... I bet you are wanting to learn a bit more about me huh? Seemed random that I came out of nowhere and have been acting very unlike a Jasper? Well, that is because I am not exactly like other Jaspers. I am not flawed, just different. But I was threatened a lot with being shattered by my superior officers because of that difference. So I am going to flat out tell you... I am a rebel gem from Pink Diamond's court. I have been on the run for two years and joined the rebels efforts recently. If you really want to attack me and shatter me, report me, whatever... Do it now before we have a worse situation to deal with. If not, let us keep going and accept that we are just on different sides of this war, although we would not be if gems were allowed some individuality..." Jazz braces herself for a hailstorm of anger and plasma to come her way.
At first, the sapphire listened with only half-presence of mind as she concentrated on the generation of her plasma, maintaining its glow and form against the frigid air inside of the caverns-- attack could come from anywhere, at any moment-- especially if these creatures were able to traverse through hard stone. But as Jazz spoke on, Padparadscha halted, her entire body frozen. She didn't turn to face the Jasper as the gem spoke, she only stared down into the blackness in front of them. Her shoulders rose as the tension in her spine accumulated, prickling down her nape. Like hardened plasma, she seemed to become inert-- yet an invisible noxiousness steamed from her skin, the pool of sanguine liquid spread from where she stood unconsciously.
As the last of Jazz's words rung out, a thick silence settled over the murky darkness. The silence drew on as the aristocrat stared into the unknown in front of them, utterly flummoxed. Slowly, she turned to reveal her wide eyes, boiling violently as her lip quivered into a venomous sneer. "What?" She hissed, though she had heard fine. Her sense was telling her that everything this gem had just claimed was the truth. A pit settled in her stomach, nauseating adrenaline flooded her.
The hand that she had used to grip Jazz's now felt grimy, this gem was no more her savior than a stalking villain at this point. Her hands curled into tight fists, "What?!" Her mind raced. On one hand, she was faced with the depths of a dangerous labyrinth, and now, she'd been cornered by a rebel, "So that's why your name sounded so familiar! You're rebel scum! A criminal! I can't believe this! Trapped in a cave with a--a--"
The walls around them began to shake ever so slightly, then as Padparadscha continued to babble through her ire, the shaking walls became more and more turbulent.

Jazz saw that coming, the dead silence after her question, the change in manner... Yup... whole body reaction just as she thought would happen. And then more silence... Is she going to attack or us she going to just get over it...
She is not going to get over it, great... Was that the walls shaking...? Is that the Sapphire or something else... This little gem was starting to anger Jazz anyway with her white hot reaction. And Sapphires are suppose to be calm and collected. Jazz smirked to herself, but was more worried about how to handle this going forward.
"You know what, I have four words for you Padparadscha. I. Do. Not. Care. I may be a traitor to you but you every stopped to think about WHY so many gems are abandoning Homeworld? Maybe it is because they care about the people on the planets we destroy? Maybe it is because if you are not an obedient little drone then you will be destroyed and replaced with one. Maybe it is because of the stupid caste system which is also used as a yolk for keeping gems from looking inward and being an individual. Guess what? It was my individual mindset that saved your bloody rock from shattering into a million pieces! Guess what? NO ONE WOULD HAVE CARED! HOMEWORLD WOULD HAVE JUST MADE ANOTHER ONE OF YOU AND MOVED ON, 'OH WELL,' HOW DOES THAT NOT BOTHER YOU? It bothered me! I was different I did not like fighting for fighting's sake... and I was threatened over and over again because of that! I do not care if you are loyal to Homeworld. I do not care what they taught you to think. I want to know if it matters to you at all that I saved you, knowing that you would probably find me out and turn me in. I stuck my neck out for my enemy, a traitor did that. THINK ON THAT!" Jazz has tears streaming down her face as she yells at this small gem, she finally has a Homeworld Gem stuck with her who has to at least hear what she is saying. If they are shattered here, at least Jazz knows she did so with a witness to her mindset even if Homeworld never gets that message.
Pure indignation shot across Padparadscha's expression as Jazz let loose her emotions, pouring them out for her to hear. The sapphire shook with anger, her puddle of plasma began to surge and boil around her, "The nerveof these deserters!" she snapped, not completely realizing she was thinking out loud, "Thenerve of you to spew such flagrant refuse! Renegades who spit on honor, turning on their own kind--their own kindergarten, their comrades, their creators-- have no place to speak on what is right! Individuality?! Is that what you're concerned with? You've chosen your ego over your duty! The nerve of you to blame the rest gemkind for your desertion of your entire reason for living! It's not your place to questio--"
The walls were now pummeled by tremors, Padparadscha's voice was drowned by the grating, raucous tumbling of stone-- yet she hardly seemed to feel the quaking mountain around her as she continued to blast into Jazz with her words. The plasma lit the halls like a summer day as it slithered up around her.
The walls erupted behind each gem, sending shrapnel flying in every direction-- a chunk of granite struck the Padparadscha square in the back and she stumbled forward with a gasp, her hand instinctively shielding the gem on her throat. Behind Jazz and the sapphire alike, a clamorous whirring buzzed and sputtered. Padparadscha looked up at the creature who stood behind Jazz, knowing that one much like it was right behind her. She could only see the shadow of its form through the glimmering granite dust-- her enraged, wide eyes drained into a look of utter despair.

Jazz grew more and more angry as she had Padparadscha rant at her about desertion and nerve and what is and is not her place! She was going to continue to show this dressed up over polished piece of rock how a person acts when they are forced to deal with people who judge and belittle an--
The walls tremoring around them suddenly stopped the flow of the Sapphire's rant. Then as the walls, visible by the bright plasma around the little gem, erupted behind each of them Jazz knew what she heard earlier... it was digging... their arguing had draw the creatures to them... Jazz tried to stay calm and focus on Padparadscha. All she could see on that once enraged face was despair and fear. This is not good... She needed to act fast if she was going to save herse-- both of them, both of them no matter what that little gem had just said to her. Right now it was more important to figure out a way to level the playing field with these creatures. Jazz thought quickly and decided on her course of action. She grabbed Padparadscha and ran with her in her arms, away from the beasts into a larger area of the caves. If she could get some space it would help a lot. She summoned her helmet as she ran just in case, you know... being trained as a soldier has its benefits not that she thinks about it, still wished that it had been her own choice but oh well.
If a creature follows behind Jazz she does her best to fling it backwards and buy herself time.
"Agh!" Padparadscha cried as Jazz scooped her up from the ground,"Unhand me!"-- the corundum's plasma lashed and sputtered like fresh magma from the mouth of a volcano. For all she knew, this traitor was about to use her as a gemkind shield as she ran headlong into the enormous corrupted gem, its body blocking off everything but for the narrow gap between its two gnarled legs. It's head was a spinning, razor pointed drill, with deformed, gnashing teeth, and as unwieldy as it was, it couldn't stop Jazz from sliding underneath and making it passed. However, the other creature, the one that had been behind the sapphire, now let its humongous visage smash into the ground, and it disappeared into the rock-- but the tremors it caused rattled through the mountain, a terrifying howl that made Padparadscha's spine shiver. As Jazz dashed down the hall, the first corrupted gem wobbled after them.
"Stop! You wont get rid of me like this, scum!" the small corundum writhed and struggled, "I'll have you know I'm one of Homeworld's most formidable gems!" She smacked at the soldier's hands and arms, knowing that her bluffs probably wouldn't work-- but she wasn't about to become a corrupted gem's plaything for the day! Her plasma surged around her, and she began to try to burn away the Jasper's thick arms.
Jazz gritted as the ungrateful little gem tried to burn her. Of course she would not know help if it bit her in the gem stone! Ugh, now that she had a bit more space to work with she might be able to fight them off. What in the name of all things good on this planet were those creatures? Corrupted gems for sure but they were not the kinds she was used to...
For crying out loud! Does she really think that Jazz was about to throw her to the monsters! Ugh! She is going to have to straighten this out before she gets them both killed, and before she loses an arm; minor details...
"I am not going to throw you to the monsters you stupid conceited little rock! I am a rebel not heartless! I did say I do not care that you are a Homeworld gem, and guess what? I figured you were one when I saved you from falling. If you think I am about to throw you to the wolves, so to speak, well you have got another thing coming! And for the love of everything, will you please stop trying to melt my arm, hard to help you without it." She puts the small gem back down on the ground so that she can fight better. "Now can you watch my back while I deal with this one? The other one burrowed so I am betting it will not be far behind."
Jazz summoned forth a bit of will to steel herself as she called a gauntlet out to match her helmet. She took a defensive position in order to minimize the damage to herself and Padparadscha. Even if this gem does not get it... she is going to be protected whether she wants it or not.
The jasper's words hit the sapphire harder than that chunk of granite had, the wind knocked from her as the two of them made it into the wider part of the cavern, skidding to a halt. Padparadscha had so many things she wanted to say at once that it choked her up, some of those things admittedly contradictory. Jazz had gone into the fray to save her, not once, but twice now. If she had remained frozen, surrounded by those beasts, Jazz could have easily left her for dead to buy herself time-- at least, that's what she would've expected from most jaspers. For now, she had no idea what to expect from this particular jasper.
Through it all, Padparadscha couldn't really remember how, but she had ended up on her own two feet with Jazz by her side. Her eyes shifted back toward the light at the entrance of the tunnel, she could make an escape...but held fast. From outside, the wind roared along with the sound of the shivering walls-- the second corrupted gem lurking anywhere as the first lumbered as quickly as it could toward the two of them.
The sapphire took a deep breath, and focused on her ability. Her plasma flashed forward, and it flooded the dark tunnel the creature inhabited. The glowing hot liquid cooled too quickly to trap the creature's feet, and she ended up tripping it over the hardened rock instead. It's disproportionate head came smacking down onto the the rock, and it struggled to regain its footing. Now wasn't the time to worry about this rebel-- after all, gems had to stick together in this horrid wilderness.
(ooc:You can go ahead and take liberties with the corrupted gem's actions, btw!)
Jazz took notice of the Sapphire standing and not running away. Good, at least she is willing to help. Jazz appreciated the tactic behind tripping the corruption up, it gives her an opportunity. Jazz pressed forward and slammed her head and fist into the corrupted gem, causing some good damage to the corruption. Jazz kicks off of the corruption and back to a position where she could help Padparadscha if she needs it. Jazz keeps an eye out on the walls, knowing that the other corruption could come out at anytime. Hopefully once this one poofs but you never know.
Jazz kept her cool as best she could once she waited for the corruption to strike back. The first corruption was dazed she hoped.
((OOC: How much damage would you say these could take before they poof?))
(ooc: I would say they are pretty tough, to keep the tension rolling, just do whatever you think would be most interesting haha)
She cooked up more plasma that flowed within her generation zone to keep it hot, her eyes darting around the cavern as Jazz plunged in to take advantage of the opening she had half-mistakenly created. Padparadscha grit her teeth as she feared what may happen if the jasper was compromised by their risky close-quarters tactics, but she knew that, as a front-lines soldier gem, Jazz didn't have much else at her disposal. It would be up to the sapphire to watch the jasper's flank, as she retreated deftly from her attack. The corrupted gem roared, in what eerily felt like frustration, its drill churning up her plasma trap as it tried to recover from the blow it took. Padparadscha cringed, reeling back from the tunnel as the beast slid forward, using its face to pull ahead more quickly.
Fear froze her again as she watched the monstrosity barrel on toward them-- she had been lamenting a confrontation like this from the very beginning-- and it was ironic that it had been their argument, her own actions and words, that had caused this nightmare to emerge. In reflex, she sent out her plasma again as it came closer, and managed to coat its head. Unfortunately, the drill seemed to be of adamant resistance to the extreme heat of it, and instead, slung the substance around like mud.
Jazz was on edge. This creature had figured out a way to counter the plasma trap quickly, a bit too quick for her liking. The speed it had while it drilled was unnerving for Jazz to behold. She started to wonder what gem this creature used to be, and how they got to this twisted state. Stop it, no time to analyze the creature right now, she could do that when it was poofed or if they escaped. She noticed the fear freeze up the Sapphire, just like before... oh no... and she saw the creature barreling towards them again, probably going for the gem that had angered it. Jazz was going to have to think on her feet again.
Jazz revved up a Spin Dash, using her helmet to increase the strength of her impact. Once it was at its apex she charged into the creature at an angle to avoid the drill as best she could but still slam into it hard. She slams into the shoulder of the creature, causing it immense pain on the joint and forcing it back into the other end of the cavern. Jazz used her remaining momentum to roll back to the Sapphire. She hoped she could hold out long enough for them both to get out of here... Maybe she could the Sapphire...
"Padparadscha, I need you to listen to me alright? I need to: Keep. Calm. That might seem hard in this situation, but you have to try. I know you are afraid, and so am I but we will get out of this alright. I promise you that."
The sapphire could only watch as Jazz dealt the devastating blow-- the creature howled and writhed against the wall, unable to gain any kind of grasp on its surroundings. Her hands shook, she was terrified that using her Diamond-given abilities would end up becoming a huge liability-- yet it was all she had, against such a fearsome beast.
As Jazz gave her words of encouragement, Padparadscha felt the sting of knowing this gem wasn't on the right side of things, from her point of view. How can a rebel promise anything she thought, begrudgingly, you've already broken your most important one...
She shook away her thoughts as the beast interrupted them with its howls, and again she sent out a wave of plasma across the floor. It was so close that her entire body was chilled with dismay, but the plasma seeped around the creature, and began to encase it as it cooled. Her eyes widened and a nervous smile broke out on her lips as it struggled against the heat of her power.
"Aha!" She called, though perhaps a bit too soon. Her smile disappeared when the creature's cries of distress were answered by rumbling as the other corrupted gem dug somewhere in the walls, nearer and nearer, until it busted through the ceiling, plunging right over the two gems.
Jazz smiles a small bit as she saw the Sapphire encasing the creature and seeing her confidence rise a little bit. But then she head the other creature digging into the room. She knew it would come back, now it was time to figure out where it was coming fro--
The ceiling! Of all of the places, it had to choose one of the hardest ones to defend from... Great... At least she has some time to react since the other creature is encased for now. Not long though, she assumed, considering its drilling talent. Jazz rushed over and dove to push Padparadscha out of the way of the falling creature. Once she was clear of the landing zone, Jazz braced for impact.
The creature from the ceiling landed on top of Jazz, forcing an impact crater into the floor of the cave. Jazz was forced onto one knee as she attempted to stop the creature from drilling into her. She gathered up her strength as best she could and hurled the creature off of her, aiming at a jagged part of the wall and hoping for damage.
She tumbled across the floor of the cave, her focus breaking before she realized what had happened. Horror dominated her expression as Jazz tried to fend off the corrupted gem, and she tried to gather the situation as the other corrupted creature thrashed about in the plasma cooling around it. The hardened stone crackled and fizzed as the monster fought against its entrapment, and again the small gem glanced toward the exit. The blizzard outside was not as vigorous as it had been, she could run and make it off the mountain...leaving these three problems to take care of themselves...
Padparadscha fought through the haze of fear and got to her feet. Moisture welled in her eyes as she tried to regain her focus. Morally, she was conflicted. She didn't believe that gems deserved to be shattered. Gems like Jazz could be rehabilitated, educated, and brought back to the right side of things. From years of working in the courts, she felt that shattering wasn't the last option, especially not for gems as apparently dedicated and noteworthy as this jasper. She'd never expected this stranger to step so far out of the way for her mission-- Jazz had already gone beyond anything the sapphire could have predicted.
Her presence of mind returned to her, Padparadscha generated enough plasma to send it up and out-- she allowed it to cool marginally so that it wouldn't become a hindrance to Jazz as she held her ground, and wrapped it around the creature's near-useless legs. She held it to the ground with as much strength as she could muster, near its twin. However, she'd exhausted her ability, and it was becoming increasingly difficult to create more and more plasma to subdue the beasts with.

Jazz watched for a brief moment as Padparadscha regained her composure after being pushed aside. She could tell that the plasma generation was wearing on the Sapphire and that she needed to even the odds quickly or this fight might cost both of them dearly. Jazz thought quickly... the Sapphire was holding the second creature up for the time being, though not long. The creature inside of the dome would free itself soon... Jazz steadied herself and made a decision.
Jazz used her Spin Dash to to slam into the shell that trapped the first creature, penetrating the weakened stone with some ease. The chunks of stone added to the damage that Jazz's impact inflicted upon the Corrupted Gem, forcing a howl to escape the creature. Jazz mustered up her strength and used her gauntlet to keep her momentum going on the Dash, forcing the creature's hard light form against the jagged rocks as far as she could before... *Poof* the gem's form could not take the damage anymore and retreated inside of its gem. Jazz quickly bubbled the gem and secured it to herself for now. She climbed out of the rubble and made her way back to Padparadscha. Hopefully this would give them the chance to get out of here. She started to say something to the Sapphire, and then she heard the familiar rumbling... oh no... not another... Jazz knew she could hold up against one but she did not know if she would last against two again.
"Padparadscha, we need to leave! Another one is coming and I am not sure if the two of us can hold both of them off again. We are both being worn down and I think we would both prefer to not shatter. So we need to get out of here before the second one shows up!"
Melody: "The fight system of this site is really Ehh..." Well... how would you improve it? ^^

Flurry: I think that theres not much that can be done in just, regular rps, I think before a fight both sides should agree to do it, and decide the winner based on logic, because otherwise we're doing this "Hey im really cool" thing that goes back and forth
Oct 14, 2019 19:51:03 GMT
Flurry: I made Flurry cause id rather have a support/non fighting character anyway
Oct 14, 2019 19:51:31 GMT
Chip the Fire Opal: I have Chip who is a killing machine... and Sapphire who couldn't fight a broom
Oct 14, 2019 19:58:03 GMT
Flurry: Ive got Sulfur who impales people with a lot of swords, and Flurry who cant even heal people without being on the verge of collapse
Oct 14, 2019 19:59:04 GMT
Light: so... You think the fight system is bad, but you also don't know how to improve it? I understand what you are trying to say, but it is something that roleplayers should take care of. Admins can only tell you that the way you play is wrong or ban

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
