Ruby walked up to the bus stop sign with Lapis in tow. She had her drawstring bag packed tight, inside: three of her stuffed elephants, a strange piece of broken metal, a wad of loose cash, and a few loose tickets from the arcade. Before they had left the apartment, Ruby would have explained these items, which were spread out in front of the two of them.
"This piece of metal is from my ship," she explained, "when it fell off in the crash, I figured the easiest way of making sure I found the correct crash site would be to take a piece with me. It's small, but I know where I found it, and I know which part of the ship it's from." She pointed at the money. "We don't know what we might need currency for on the bus, or in Jersey. So I figure we should just take... a lot." She pointed at the tickets from the arcade. "...they might have other arcades in Jersey. In case we run out of money, we could use these to trade at an arcade in Jersey for some other useful objects." And then, she finally came back around to the elephants. "...I just like these." She mumbled, after a pregnant pause.
So they were there now, by the bus stop, waiting. But not only waiting for the bus, also waiting for someone: Padparadascha. Ruby had written a note (in Gem, not English,) and run over to the Temple. In a very ding-dong-ditch style of doing so, she left the note and ran off. The note said this,
"Para, I know I was sort of mad at you the last time we spoke. But me and Lapis are going to Jersey to look for clues to what happened to my ship, and despite the reservations I might have, Lapis and I are OK with whatever you are - Crystal Gem or otherwise. But I need as much help as I can get with finding my captain, and I'm reaching out to you because you're the second most trustworthy gem I know here in Beach City. If you want to join Lapis and me, we'll be at the bus stop this Monday, at 7:30 human time. We decided human transportation is the fastest way to get to Jersey, and it's very weird, so try to be as on time as possible.
Unless you're not coming.

So that's where they were now, waiting at the bus stop. "Do you think Para will show up?" She asked with a little bit of concern.
