Mica inhaled sharply. A swoop of nostalgia rushed through his stomach as he looked at the familiar pillars and warp pads. He hadn't seen a gem construct that wasn't adopted by a human religion since his first centuries on earth. "This place is so untouched..." he murmured, walking around. What was once an integral part of the gem community was now a mere relic. "But everything seems broken... could this be because of the uprising?" he narrated softly to himself as he inspected some of the large cracks in the main warp pad. The details of earth and gem history became blurred in his mind and he couldn't quite fit all the pieces in.
He soon climbed atop one of the spires surrounding the dysfunctional nexus of travel, and sat there, staring into the abyssal purgatory. In his mind, reflections of his past flickered by. Monsters he had vanquished for villages in ancient times that turned out to be corrupted gems. Cults formed in the worship of gems who would have come to the world from these very warp pads. His mind was performing a juggling act. How was the destruction of humans to their own home any different from the gems'? He released a sigh and rubbed his eyes, "I guess that's why I've come here..." after concluding that even in this place his memory could not be jogged.
After more contemplation, he decided that if the warp pads were broken no gem in their right mind would happen across his path here. Ready to try exploring another place he might discover one of his kin, Mica stood up.
The green Gem watched the floating screen and studied the plans of the Colony She scrolled down the holographic pictures of the structures that were built on Earth, she was well aware, only 5% of the plans were completed... the original plans were about 89 Kindergartens, 67 Spires, a Galaxy Warp in each Facet, and the efficient usage of all available resources of the planet; she closed the screen and truned off the device and turned to the ocean, to watch the horizont from the balcony of the Lunar Sea Spire Jade planned to visit most of the sites, to check them out... But there was one... The Galaxy Warp... The last time she visited it, she met three Gems. It wasn't one of the best experiences. A feral abomination, a Howlite, the pet of a Sulfur... and a young Fire Opal. Tho' the Fire Opal was not that bad, the whole situation escelated (too wuickly for her taste) and she decided to leave. But she was curious... did fight broke out? did those three Gems attacked each other? Did anything remained of the sabotaged Galaxy Warp? Questions, questions... questions... ...with only one way to find an answer to them Her only problem was, the Galaxy Warp was in the middle of the ocean - and Warping was out the question She frowned a bit, Jade was never the big fan of the waters... it was an age old question, which was the stronger, the sea or it's coast? But that wasn't improtant After a day or two, she finally decided^^ With a rumble a flat boulder slowly raised with her; travelling on the flating rock, she headed toward the Galaxy Warp Lady Jade watched the Warp "island" silently as her floating boulder aproched it It was a majestic sight! But she was well aware of the (very painful) price of such a beauty The mini island slowed down, when she aproached the beautiful Gem sturcture and parked next to it Actually Jade rearly walked, she simply willed the earth under her to move The earth itself moved under her, formed a footbridge that conencted it with the "island", and moved under her, carried the green Gem and her bag on "its back" in She sent away the boulder with a tought, wich landed in the ocean with a splash, and looked around Jade moved without moving (the bag moved next to her^^)... for some this was a bit eerie, the tall silent Gem as she moved slowly... without any movement.
(Lady Jade is a very tall Gem (8'5 tall), taller than most of the Quartz soldiers. As a noble, an aristocrat Gem, she is usually in her green, silk like "kimono" )
The Green lady looked around, slowly moving without any actuall movement Willing the earth, the stone of the platform to move under her was enough for her... Jade - at first glance- was slow.... kind of the continental drifint kind of slow Like the ancient mountains, or elder foundation of the world, she just stood there, watched It was actually quite easy to immage her, as she standing in one place while Ice Ages come and go by Jade watched, observed the place... and noticed the other Gem The tall, green Matron finally summoned a Gem interface; five little cylinder flew out from her kimono, and formed a pentagon, and inside the five-sided polygon appeared the holo screen The Gem Lady slowly raised her hand, revealing her long jade tallons, sharp and deadly enough to easly disembowel a cow - or a little dinosaur for that matter - and with the gentle touch of the point of her "finger", she scorlled down the informations Three little, harmless green beam from the screen scanned the Gems present... then continnued to map and scan the area, like a radar She watched the informations on her holoscreen The Galaxy Warp was in horrible shape... but there was no sign of any recent fight Jade slowly she turned to the Gem. Not just by her face, her whole body turned, without any movement; like if she would stand on a rotating platform. Wich in a sense was true.
Her voice was quiet, bearly a whisper; enough for a civilized conversation, fitting to the Courts
"I am Jade - Facet-5C7Q Cut-7ZX, from Pink Diamond's Court... You may adress me as "your majesty", "mistress" or "Lady" Jade.
Mica observed the placid movements of Jade, feeling a twinge of discomfort. He had grown so used to the organic movements of humans that her slow and calm demeanor reminded him why his species was reviled as well as deified among the humans. "Salutations" he cooed, with a little bow common to eastern traditions before nimbly hopping from the spire he had been sitting on. Once on the ground, he sat on his knees hands folded in his lap. "Lady Jade... I am Mica." he explained, rigid like a statue. His fluffy hair was caressed by the ocean's gentle winds as he stared at Jade. Of course he was excited that he could meet a gem so soon, but he feared the consequences of this interaction because of her elevated status among gems. "Have you come here to inspect the broken teleportation pads? I think only the one I used to come here works." he explained, not quite sure what to think of her yet.
The Green Matron watched the other Gem silently Waited But after a while it was obvious to her, there will be no formal introduction...
"You are a Mica. Your Facet? Cut? There are other "Micas" in the Empire...
Her voice was cold, but not hostile
"Which one is your Diamond? ... and it seems you have forgotten how to make a Diamond salute, how to greet a noble... or any Gem properly"
Jade then slowly turned, without turning ,willing the stones under her to move She looked around Then the floating screen
"The last time I was here, a Fire Opal, a feral Howlite, and his "owner", a Sulfur almost attacked each other. I have left... but was unsure whats happened here. Or anything remained of the Galaxy Warp's "island" after those three... But there is no sign of fight. I came here to gather information. But I'm afraid you are right. The Galaxy Warp is... offline."
Mica looked down at the palms of his hands, trying to remember. Social conduct among gems had become a blurry mess to him. "I... I can't say that I know these things, the Lady." he spoke calmly before looking up again. "I have spent a lot of time among the indigenous lifeforms since I got here... seeking meaning... and I am afraid that has extinguished my identity as a gem, let alone as a mica."
He pondered, staring at Jade for a few moments allowing the correct expressions to form in his mind. "Silicate is one of the most common and versatile substances in the cosmos... I think these qualities are descriptive of my place in your world... however, I have always been tasked as a scribe when it came to working for my kindred."
Perhaps forgetting his place, he decided to ask Jade more questions. "How come a fight broke out here? Are there still renegade factions against the diamonds to protect this world from colonization?"
"Strange... you were and are aware of the fact, your time spent with these biological life form eroded away your Gem "self", yet you not reported for examination to a Peridot in the nearest Kindergarten, or other facility? To find a "cure" for your problem or if you are beyond saving, use you as a powersource to further the Diamonds goals?
The Green Matron mused
"You are quite a rebel Mica!
She nodded and listened
"Yes... a Mica, be it a Clintonite, a Biotite, a Glauconite, a Lepidolite, a Margarite, a Muscovite , a Phlogopite or a Zinnwaldite is usually a scribe or is in a similar position
Then Jade nodded again
"It is a bit complicated .... Mica. Earth is in chaos. There are several groups fighting among themselves, while Pink Diamond vanguard fleet is around the moon. A bit surprising, four or five solar cycles were not enough to solve this problem, but the situation is delicate I must admit.
The word "power source" echoed in his mind. He held his fingertips together and closed his eyes, inhaling a deep breath in contemplation. When he opened them again, he was looking at Jade. "Perhaps I may have become what you may think of as a rebel... I can assure you there is no animosity towards my kindred, only forgiveness. I must make this clear, now that you can recognize me as a scribe. Though the ephemeral nature of my ego as a gem has indeed been broken... I can attest that there are things known to this world that even the most elect of micas or even gemkind can not hope to comprehend."
He stood up and, while staring at the floor, began to pace back and forth. "Though the creatures of this world are fragile and sustained by different chemical reactions... I can only conclude that they are life, and though they may not be capable of our technological prowess... I believe they have become far more evolved than us in matters of the spirit."
"Even in their infancy, this planet has discovered forces of nature we cannot comprehend. Acceptance and compassion even towards enemies. They grow and learn to accept each-other in mere centuries, something our kind has struggled with for eons. And yet we feel like they are dispensable... I believe this is an indicator that we may be just as lost in greed and subjection to the physical realm as them... and many do not like to be reminded of this... but when we extinguish their knowledge we make learning impossible for all of gemkind."
His pacing came to a stop mere steps away from the functioning warp pad before he asked "The Lady Jade, can you explain to me what makes this planet ideal among the others in this system? How come we are so eager to extinguish the life on this world for something as common as yet another military installation?"
The Green Matron watched the Mica He was maybe worthy to know the truth ...it worth a try
"We are at the brink of war my Mica.. it is important to understand, there are no such thing like independence. Only our side and their side. Which is wrong. Terribly wrong!"
Lady Jade turned slowly to the Ocean without any movement
"There is only one side. The Gems' side, to be honest. We are all from the same earth... born from the planets, we are all sisters, from the Perfect Diamonds to the lowly Pearls. We should not fight. We should work together! I spend eons on this project, to slowly show the Diamonds, peacful co-existence with other species is possible, and we don't need to destroy worlds! But I am now afraid, we are in truble. Don't you agree?"
She watched the Mica
"We are an elder Race, it would be our responsibility to teach the younger species, guide them... not to conquer them, destroy them, and tore their planet apart!"
Tho' Jade'"s voice was quite, it was quite like a sleeping, active vulcano, with the promise of the unimmaginable destruction the earth is capable of She was angry And the Earth answered to her feelings and toughts A small earthquake shook the Warp-island, nothing serious, but enough to casue tiny bits to fall
"I watched the Humans... last time I was on this planet, they were a plague on the land! A curse that explited and abused the life giving planet they are on! But they were so young, so fragile... innocent... I hoped they will change. But when I arrived I sensed, the planet is still in pains."
She willed the earth under her to move, to move closer to the Mica
"They are still hurting their home... but as I travelled, I saw, they love their home. I saw humans, working on the fields and could sense the love they felt toward their land, I saw little humans, playing in the mud, and strong ones, climbing mountains, to conquer it. Watched the forest and fields, the humans who cared their land like their own offsprings. It was good to see, Humanity started to learn to respect their planet! It gave me hope! The Gems never respected a word... Some of us even hate planets with biological life forms, or the ugly hellish worlds...
The noble watched the endless ocean
"Personally I find the "hellish" planets beautiful, the vulcanic ones, with bright red lava flows, and molten rock "seas", those very young and volatile worlds with their volcanic landscapes... When I passed one of the Gas giants int this Solar System, I heard the sing of one of its vulcanic moon... it was really nice. But the Ocean planets, the Ice worlds... Jungle moons... all of them are beautifull in their own way Light! None of them are needs to be destroyed!"
She turned back to the Mica slowly
"The humans are young, but I think we could teach them how to be... responsible. After the Gems learned how to be... worthy teachers of course"
Lady Jade nodded
"The problem is with the Gems... BOTH sides! The Crystal Gems' actions were irresponsible... rush, without any thinking of the consequences! And those are dire consequences Pearl! I am sure, at first the whole rebellion seemed as a good idea, noble and brave... but it was nothing more than a spark that almost ignited a horrible destruction, and an excuse for the more... militant minded nobles, to make their move to convince their superiors about a retribution... eventually the Diamond will decide. At the moment a little contingent of ships waiting for orders on the moon. "
The another little earthquake shook the Warp-island as a response of Jade's hidden wrath
"We could have been great teachers... yet, we are nothing more than a plague on the Galaxies... expanding, consuming, multiply... repeat. Like a faulty program in a constant loop! "
Jade wasn't too happy
"We are self replicating "devices"... nothing more!
"But truth to be told... most of the Empire forgot, where the Gems came from. We are the childrens of the planets... like the biological life forms, sentinent crystals. But it was long... long time ago, the Gems were "natural" things... today? Syphoned out energy filling an empty vessel, pre-programed artifically growth artifical inteligences with only one goal: expand, consume and multiply... I would say, Gems are pathetic clods, but that would be an insult to the noble clod..."
Mica calmly absorbed Jade's words. The occasional shake and her focus on the mineral manifestations of the planet lead him to understand she was probably able to manipulate rocks. "Well then, you may see your own predicament..."
"If we heed the authority of our broken ways, then we will never allow these questions to come to a conclusion. An act of retaliation can only be expected when our elect cannot listen to words." He shuddered, with a brief swoop of emotion "And it's not like gems are not trying to change this world... there are entire cultures and religions dedicated to living constructive and wholesome lives. The difficulty here may be one that you can recognize as well. All the power goes to a specific few, and this power cannot be questioned. In fact, they can deem any mode of thinking that goes against theirs as an act of treason. We may fear corruption of our gems, but we dare not ask the question if spiritual corruption has infiltrated the innermost sanctums of our kind."
"Given the circumstances we are working with now... I think the acts of rebellion are the only kind of message that cannot be drowned out in bureaucratic proceedings and micawork... and forgive me for saying this, but I think that is a page we may have taken out of the humans' book because though we can conquer a galaxy, we have become completely powerless to our own dogmas."
He did not look away from Jade, because he had seen countless earth riots formed out of the opinions he just spoke of, but Jade's views were also mysteriously congruent to his own which gave him some measure of confidence. "The way the elite on this world acts... we cannot call ourselves much different... and I believe the fact that we can witness the development and decay of countless governments and monarchies makes this planet a dangerous learning experience, exposing the kind of spiritual poverty we live in. We have begun to question ourselves... and correct me if I am wrong but our most elect do not like being questioned, much like the ones of this rock."
"Well... don't forget "Mica", we are quite spiritual. Or used to... we still have Temples and shirnes dedicated to the Moon Goddes! And to the Gems, to most of the Gems, the Diamonds are Gods! And to be honest, they are not far from the truth. They are almost perfect beings..."
"Then again, the humans have this fascinating idea about the "perfect organism", some monsterous thing they call a "Xenomorph". So really, perfection not necesarry means benevolent. On the contrary. Usually the lowly and the meek are the benevolent ones. Not the elite"
She had to admit this Even Jade wasn't that "good"
"I think you can't find a creature in the universe who is not convinced about his or her own ineffability.... you have to work really hard to learn how to doubt in your own ineffability!"
Mica pondered her words carefully. He could tell she understood some important concepts, and that for the most part they were in agreement. "Perhaps that is where we have become stagnant... we've come so far and could never stop and question ourselves. This planet exposes that weakness of ours... and every century we continue to watch it develop and progress, the more we are reminded that."
"You are right, the ideal of perfection is a subjective matter... however, in some traditions a "perfect" man has been crowned among the humans. The corrupt elite even tried to kill him for this. The results became a religion... and even that fell to corruption. He was considered perfect because he came to serve, and not to be served."
Then, something curious happened, a grin spread across his face. "You wouldn't dare bring a topic like this up in the court, would you? Question our tradition of conquering and dominating? Question why we must extinguish this planet that makes us take a look at ourselves rather than any of the other mineral-rich rocks in this star system?"
"One must be very... very careful with words. Weapons and soldiers could conquer a galaxy, but a word in the right time and right place could ruin or save a life. The Courtly games are deadly dances, battle of wits. It is not about bravery "Mica"! During the eons, long before humans figured out, how to smack each other with a rock, I have argued with the right words in the Court about these things!"
The Earth answered to her feelings and toughts again A small earthquake shook the Warp-island
"Actually this is not about just minerals "Mica". To understand why we do this, and to be a worthy opponent in debates in these topics, I have studied the Kindergartens, and the Peridots explained to me the fine details. The Injectors drill into the earth, injecting a Gem deep underground. The implanted Gem then drains the life force/energy from its surroundings in order to reach full adulthood. It then forms a gemstone, and emerges from the ground. It is not just about minerals"
Jade pointed to the Mica with her long jade claw
"You are here, becasue you drained the life force of your birth planet, like me. Like a parasite... sure we don't have a choice, but it is in our nature. The minerals are just one part of this. The life force of a planet, the bio mass, the animals, plants, everything are the other part my Mica! This is why this planet is important, it is rich in life force!
She explained and pointed to the floating screen And showed her the Kindergarten a vast, foggy canyon with numerous holes carved out of the dark, dull purple rock faces; which are the "birthplaces" of many Gems. Injectors dot the landscape, some of which have fallen to the ground and been destroyed.
Jade turned to the Mica without moving
"To be here, to live, you have destroyed a large area of your birth planet my Mica! Syphoned the life energy itself, like a parasite, or a sponge! Our powers and immortality came with a price... in the form of a barren, dead area of a planet. The colonization is nothing more than turning the dead husk of once life richs worlds in to a Gem 'world" Gem-form the the planet! From this..."
The Green Matron watched the Mica quietly
"But never forget my Mica, the Crystalk Gems, or the rebels are not "good" either... when they sabotaged the Kindergartens, only the Diamonds know, how many "unborn" Gem died, trapped in the crust for an eternity, condamned to wither away... no my Mica! The Rebels are as bad as "us" Gems, loyal to Homeworld."
Mica observed her demonstration with a vague look of shock on his face. Nobody had explained to him that organic life would have to be extinguished in order to create his existence. These were the laws of cause and effect, though, so he wasn't entirely surprised. "The humans of this world talk about fostering life on their neighboring planets... perhaps we can learn this technique from them and replicate it on a planet that would not affect the development of their kind..." he grumbled thoughtfully. It seemed he wasn't saying this to Jade as much as simply establishing this fact for himself more concretely, out loud.
"Maybe that is why I have fallen away from my ego as a gem... because we can see that this planet is capable of sustaining its lifeforms if it can be kept in symbiotic equilibrium, but we cannot if we wish to constantly expand. They kill animals and forests to keep themselves alive much like we kill entire worlds... but the factor of doing it incorrectly is what is destructive. We have to become something new, spiritually, than idol worshiping consumers of the cosmos."
He heaved a long, deep, sigh, and with his hands on his knees gave Jade another courteous bow. "Mayhaps we can work together to make a difference... it appears your mind has been affected by a clarity that is rare. While I agree that we cannot see actions of the Crystal Gems as either "Good" or "Evil", we'll have to make do with the ramifications and the opportunity for self-reflection it has created. This planet could be the turning point for our entire species, but not if we extinguish the same wisdom that the elite of Earth are trying to as well."
He turned to stare at the ocean for a moment before continuing "I think both of our species depend on the outcome of this battle... thank you for helping me reflect on this, it has been a long time since I was able to talk about something like this with anyone and not get attacked for treason or witchcraft."
"I look forward to speaking again." Mica said, watching her leave. He had hoped to catch up, but didn't expect somebody so high ranking to give him a personal tour of the plans. Climbing back on top of one of the pillars to sit, he went over the things she had explained to him, and rubbed his eyes trying to remember why he even came here in the first place. He knew the opportunity it presented, to be among a new species. It had made such impressive progress, but so have the gems. The image of Lady Jade's holographic computer was far more advance than the gem tech he was used to.
Most fascinating, he thought, was that he wasn't treated like an enemy. It really showed how small the presence of the homeworld gems was on this planet, and that there was some diaspora in their dogma.
This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.

Differances Between the Roleplay and the Show
*Thanks to Rose Quartz' message the Gems on Earth are entirely aware that the Homeworld Gems intend to wipe out the human race.
*The "corruption" is being treated like a virus due to lack of info about it on the show.
*Garnet, Pearl and Rose are assumed capture on Homeworld
*Garnet,Pearl and Rose broke the space warps to delay Homeworld
*Thanks to Roses Message gems now know what the Kindergarten was used for
