Obsidian walked about, this time without any of her automatons to accompany her. She had left her ship with her last remaining pearl for care. Obsidian walked for days, without stopping, her expression contained only of loss and grief-struck. Her usual ego and prideful attitude seemed to be drained away from her and reduced her into this.
All of this happened during her investigation of a old ship that was made for a Diamond and upon investigating the ship, she had found something that had traumatize her once again. Obsidian felt exactly how she felt after the majority of the Black Stone Palm died, lost, sad, broken, and especially hopeless. Did all the sacrifices Obsidian had made in her entire career was for nothing? Did she commit sins and crimes for only be wasted? Was it worth it becoming a monster?
Her movement finally stopped as the last thought came up in her mind.
Sprinting down the valley, charged two blurs rather close to one another.
Varis was closing in on his target for the day, which in this case was a fast moving spider like creature. A dark purple tone covered most of its body, light blue shining claws at the end of each leg that helped to propel the creature forward. A black gem adorn the underside of its abdomen, not very far behind him was Variscite with ball and chain in hand.
Not having much time to focus on much else both him and the spider were about to charge past an unknown Obsidian when Varis opted out for a bit more speed and disconnected the heavy crystal ball from his chain, then lashed out and catching one of the legs to the scurrying corrupted gem. Once within tye grasp of his chain, Varis pulled all his momentum downword and skidded to a stop for just a split second before turning and using his shoulder for leverageas he flung the creature up over his head and slammed it down with a crashing "THUD!" into the ground and poofing it right away.. Leaving a single blacked gem on the ground.
Followed by Varis plopping down onto his backside and letting out a sigh, his chain clinking to the ground next to him before poofing itself. Varis was still oblivious to Obsidian even though she wasn't that far from her just with his back turned at the moment.

Obsidian finally broken from her trance, she seemed spooked by the sudden yet loud THUD, created by none other than Variscite. She shifted her body a bit, flinching from the sudden interruption that came from the action that Vari had caused. Was this the gem that the Diamond had sent to finally get rid of her? Was this the moment that she knew it was going to happen?
She did not run from this gem in matter of fact, she stood there, welcoming her believed demise "So you finally found me." she said to Varis, her voice had no emotion in it, despite she looked like she lost all hope but it also reflected in her voice as well. Obsidian did not even bother to try and defend herself from her "assassin", she stood there, awaiting for the gem to end it all..
Taking a moment to try and dust off some random debris he had been coated in while chasing down the corrupted gem, ready to stand up and go collect the gem core he just about fell over once more from the sudden sound of another gem behind him.
"So you finally found me."
After an obvious stumble, the tan hued gem stood tall and looking at the gem before him. He... Didnt know her? Did she know him?
He was a bit taken off guard here as he wasnt looking for anyone to begin with, "I uhh... Who are y-you?" all he could do was scratch his head for a moment and try to think if he had seen this gem before.. Maybe they were just lost or confused? Or both?
Post by The Scientist, Obsidian on Aug 3, 2017 2:46:13 GMT
Was this gem trying to play tricks with her? There was no point to it, the gem could just kill her right now with no witnesses so why play dumb? She sighed, about to speak until..
"Who are y-you?"
She raised a eyebrow at this. "I'm the target you're supposed to kill? I'm sure your Diamond has sent you to shatter me. Did you forget, maybe check your data-pad or something." she stood there, feeling awkward in this interaction, since she was the one who was helping her "assassin" to shatter herself.
"Are you new or something?" She coughed, looking at the supposed "Assassin" strangely. "I understand if it's your first time shattering or killing a gem. It takes a while to muster up the courage to do the dirty deed."
So far everything this gem had said did nothing but confuse him even more, "I'm the target you're supposed to kill? I'm sure your Diamond has sent you to shatter me. Did you forget, maybe check your data-pad or something."
Yeah this really didnt help the simple gem, "Uh.. What? Um... Few things here, I d-dont have a Diamond, I also dont kill g-gems.. I mean ill poof the corrupted ones but thats m-more for their own safety yea?" this time the more this gem spoke he started to understand. A quick flush of green brushed his cheeks before he started to chuckle a bit, it seems she thought he was some kind of what... Assassin?!
"Bahahahah! Wait... I think your a bit confused, Im maybe the furthest thing from any kind of a-assassin this side of the planet."
He stuffed both hands into his hoodie pockets, standing rather calmly before Obsidian he looked around for a moment, "Are you... Expecting an assassin? Should I b-be looking for one?" again showing his almost certain obliviousness to what Obsidian meant. While looking aroubd though, he turned enough for her to get a good look at the blatant Crystal Gem star logo scrawled across his back.

Obsidian lied down "I mean, if you want go ahead." She suggested, she sat down, watching the gem from a distance. While he had his back turned against her, she saw the Crystal Gem logo on his back. Her sadden frown was soon replaced by a giggle. She let out a short yet loud laugh. "Oh! You're a crystal gem. I wasn't aware- oh dear, this is quite funny!" she resumed back to laughing once more.
Her continued laughing did not end, in matter of fact, it made the situation eerie and kinda creepy. Tears soon came down from Obsidian eyes as she laughed and after that the laughter was replaced by sobbing. She held her hands close to her face as she wept. "By the Diamonds just end my life already!"
Still with his back turned to Obsidian, Varis was glancing about the area for maybe the signs of some would be assassin. Only brought back to the gem behind him at the sound.. Of.. Her laughing? It all made sense when she brought up him being a Crystal Gem, "Oh yeah.. I take it since uh.. Your l-laughing your more of a 'honeworld' gem?"
Not feeling like that was too odd of a question to be asking givin the situation, but then she started laughing... A bit strange to say the least. He had taken a step closer to her but stop again as the frantic laughing turned into a degrading sobbing, he stepped closer still and placed a hand on each of her shoulders, "H-hey, hey..."
"Oh! That was a bit harder then I meant! Th-thats my bad!"
With a swift movement he slapped Obsidian across the face with his open palm, maybe with a bit more force then he intended, but it served to get his point across. "Pull yourself together! Come on.. Im sure your not in THAT bad of a spot.. A-are ya?"
This time questioning himself a bit.. How much bad could this gem have done? They seemed barely able to keep themselves composed.

Obsidian lost state was gone by variscite hard forceful slap to her face. "FF-AH!" Obsidian groaned in pain, holding her cheek with her palm.
"Oh! That was a bit harder then I meant! Th-thats my bad!"
You think? Obsidian scowled in her mind. I'll break your damn neck if you decide to do that again...
"Pull yourself together! Come on.. Im sure your not in THAT bad of a spot.. A-are ya?" Oh you have no idea how bad my situation I am in...
"I...I just had a very rough day... Found out a lot of things that changed my viewpoint of Homeworld.." Obsidian chose not to not to tell him the events that transpired between her and a certain group of gems that crossed her path before. She decided to tell him the events of what happened between herself and (her) White Diamond ship.
Varis could almost feel the dagger that flew from her eyes directly into his face, maybe she was more there then he had figured at first. Not wanting to get his own clock cleanes he took a few cautionary steps back from her.
He smiled a bit, just a half grin but wasn't much he could offer her, that is until she brought up having different views then Homeworld. This was something he could work with! "I get th-that.. Rough days are a real drag. But uh... If it helps being a Crystal Gem.. Maybe im the one to talk to about your.. Views?"
Even he was still a bit unsure over this, seeing as some Homeworld gems he knew clearly didn't see things the same way other Homeworld gems did, but they stay loyal and you cant fault someone for that.
"I can say im more open to things then.. Well then Homeworld I guess. Or the Diamonds, w-whoever is pulling the strings." He sounded honest, he didnt know what this gem did but if it made Homeworld mad then, couldnt be that bad now could it?

"I get th-that.. Rough days are a real drag. But uh... If it helps being a Crystal Gem.. Maybe im the one to talk to about your.. Views?"
She quickly changed her attitude after she saw Varis backed away from her. Easy Obsidian don't want to scare him away that quickly "I-It's just that my Diamond that ruined my life. It's hard to believe this but she was the reason why she shattered all my friends, including someone i held dear to.." She sighed deeply, her fists tighten. "You wanna ask my views are? I see the Diamonds nothing more than a corrupt tyranny that blatantly lies, abuse, or shatter gem that disagrees with their goals!"
"I can say im more open to things then.. Well then Homeworld I guess. Or the Diamonds, w-whoever is pulling the strings."
"I want revenge, no more than that, I don't want gem to experience what I've experienced through.." she gritted her teeth, her mind remembering the freshly inflicted and painful memories that plagued her mind.
The more he spoke with the fired up gem, he began to understand.. Well kind of. While she may have said some hard things and for sure she had lost gems but he felt like it wasn't everything. She was hiding something, yet they did just meetand it only stands to reason that she wouldnt spill her guts to a complete stranger.
"Well... I can tell you we both l-look at the Diamonds in a similar way. I dont know much about them but what I already kn-know is enough for me to not like them." Plus everything he has heard from his Homeworld friends didnt paint a good picture for the Diamond Authority.
Looking around for a moment, Varis takes another step closer to Obsi and out stretches his hand to her, a genuinely happy smile painted itself across his face before he spoke, "Im Variscite, Varis for short.. Leader of the Crystal Gems." Pretty blunt about it but his point is across now, "Want to.. Come back to th-the Temple? Get yourself set up?"
Varis may have been getting ahead of himself a bit but he meant nothing but good thoughts of course.

The leader of the crystal gems?! "You're a leader of the crystal gems? Wow, my name is Obsidian and I would enjoy coming with you to the temple, wherever that is." she smiled a bit, her sadness disappearing. She grabbed his hand and pulled herself up. As usual, she dusted herself from the dirt from her clothes. "Lead they way Varis." she motioned.
She followed wherever he went, looking around the place she walked too, It's always the Kindergarten where I end at.. "So how did you become the leader of the crystal gems, did you fill out an forum or something?" Obsidian didn't quiet grasp how a rebel group can vote on a leader or something. Is it like picking sticks or something? She thought
Even now it still has a strange sound to it, over time he has started to get use to it, but it still feels odds for him. Not a position he ever saw himself in, "Yea, our old leader Meta had v-vanished for awhile but with her gone we needed someone for gems to rally to, ya know?" Learning her name was a good start, there was still alpt about this gem he didn't know... But everyone has secrets.
"Its uh.. In Beach City, a little human town not t-too far from here. A place where gems are safe." He started to walk towards the town when she asked him another question, "Well.. I just kinda.. Took it. I made my way to the comms tower and made a wide spread br-broadcast. Letting gems know we are here.." He paused for a moment to look back at Obsidian, "Homeworld thinks we are just gonna sit here while they kill this planet.. Not while im here." He smiled a bit, oddly charismatic for someone who stutters so much.
"When we get to the Temple I can explain more.. Maybe we will run into another gem." Never know with Beach City.. Gems seem to just pop out of nowhere now'a days.

"I'm familiar with Beach City, I've been there before because of a small detour I had to take once.."
"Is there some kind of initiation to becoming a crystal gem?" she continued to ask "Just curious about it that's all, since I never been in a rebel group before..ha ha." her laugh was fake but Obsidian tried to make this situation a bit less awkward. "I just... prefer not having a big ol' party for me at least, after what I've been through I don't wanna be with a large group of gems at the moment.. I'll introduce myself to the other members once I don't feel like garbage and in a better mood." she faintly smiled at Varis.

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
Orginal Opening Plot Here Thread That Changed Everything
Differances Between the Roleplay and the Show
*Thanks to Rose Quartz' message the Gems on Earth are entirely aware that the Homeworld Gems intend to wipe out the human race.
*The "corruption" is being treated like a virus due to lack of info about it on the show.
*Garnet, Pearl and Rose are assumed capture on Homeworld
*Garnet,Pearl and Rose broke the space warps to delay Homeworld
*Thanks to Roses Message gems now know what the Kindergarten was used for
