Beach City was a bustling little town, decorated with bright jarring colors and inhabited by soft, fleshy beings. The humans, as they were called, were kind enough. They would talk amongst themselves, barter, and even approach their alien visitors if brave enough. Benitoite admired the first few humans who approached her for their bravery. But, apparently word had gotten out that the statuesque blue gem had a soft spot for them and now they regarded her as one of them. Always greeting her, buzzing with conversation. It was nice but tiring, and often she would have to hide in the city's outskirts to rest. They didn't often follow her there.
It was one of those rare occurrences when Benitoite allowed herself to be immersed in their presence. Children seemed to admire her most, laughing gleefully when she would scoop them up and levitate several feet. The grown humans instead were simply polite, but tended to ask stiffly if their families would be safe with all these gems appearing. She never had a genuine answer for them, but often lied and said yes. They would be fine.
There was a lull in activity and she was alone for now. She enjoyed the humans, but her true intention for being out was to find fellow Crystal Gems. It was dangerous to expose yourself outright as a traitor, so she instead posted up in the city until she spotted a gem. She would chat them up, find an answer, and continue from there. Today so far proved to be no luck, however. She raised herself to a store's rooftop to better survey the surrounding area. She saw the glittering sea, the temple, and the distant forest, but no sign of another gem.
Benitolite settled into a seated position with her legs curled beside her. Her hands folded into her lap. Maybe if she waited patiently someone would come to her.
