Chip was just nodding. Until the time, when she hinted, that Chip should force their captive to release her form. For a brief moment she could see fear in Chip's eyes. He just recently had to poof Pink Sapphire, and she knew it, she was there too. He convinced himself, that it was for a good reason. But he still felt quite bad about it. He knew, that if he did that again it would never be the same as before. And he was afraid that it would change him even more. Doing it once for a good reason was questionable, but he could live with that. Or at least he hoped. But doing it again? And just because it was convenient? What would stop him to do it in the future... "Y...yeah, that would be the safest way..." he said absently.
The young gem's hang-ups about poofing gems could be heard immediately in his tone, she recalled how hard it had been for all of them when Pink Sapphire had succumbed to her comatose state not so long ago. Though, now she realized that it hadn't just been because he was asked to do such a thing to a Homeworld aristocrat; no, rather, this hang-up seemed to apply to all manner of gems, even rebels like Enstatite. The sapphire gave a terse nod, and wondered at the best course of action.
This defender would have to do as he was designed if he wanted to impress his Diamond-- that would mean taking down rebels, defending Homeworld facilities from a similar fate as the communication hub and the galaxy warps. This would be something he would have to get use to. She let up a small, inward sigh. "Once she's returned to Headquarter's, she'll be released into the holding cells-- she'll be fine, unless of course her trial brings her up to more heinous charges. In which case, it would've been a good strategic move to have her form released until then," Her small hands clasped behind her back. The commanding tone which she took on didn't much fit with her lizardesque shape,"I'm going to do a final sweep of this area-- and, uh, attempt to regain my stature. I just need a way for this enstatite to end up in the holding cells of my ship. If you think you can get her all the way down the mountain without breaking off, perhaps form release wont be necessary, but I highly doubt this rebel will be so compliant,"
With that, she eyed Chip with her head tilted slightly upward, waiting to catch his reaction. If he wanted so dearly to prove his worth to the empire, then she knew he would accomplish it one way or another. She just hoped he would prove it to her sooner, rather than in the thick of conflict. As much as she didn't want to admit it, the rebellion was gaining traction.

Chip listened to Sapphire, she was calm and explained everything, but he felt, that she was somewhat disappointed. But Chip just couldn't do that. It wouldn't be him if he did. He didn't say anything, he just nodded. He didn't know what to say. He then waited until she left, before he came to the prisoner.
"So uhm... would you mind poofing right now? I really didn't want to do it myself... it would be easier for me... and more pleasant for yourself. I would have to stab you or explode you or something and I really don't like the idea."
He was honest with him as he always was. He could easily blast him apart, stab him or something, it wasn't problem of power. Chip just hated poofing gems.
As the sapphire wandered around the room trying to get her head together, Enstatite watched Chip approach with an incredulous glint in her eye. The rebel didn't yet quite know what to make of this Homeworlder. Then, her narrowed gaze widened, brows floating up as this odd loyalist asked her to politely give up.
"What!" She said with a bit of defiance in her tone,"No way! I'm not going to just go quietly to be dragged in front of an execution," She crossed her arms. Then her eyes flicked to the sapphire who was on the fair side of the room, digging at something on the ground. The rebel's dark green eyes slid back over to the young fire opal. She'd gotten a hint, a faint sense that this small gem might be swayed to her side of things. Enstatite decided to take a risk, she leaned forward and spoke in a low tone,"If you don't want to do it...then don't. The gem I was suppose to serve made me do all kinds of things I didn't want to do, that's why I left. Honest, a kind gem like you shouldn't be a Homeworld lacky," the rebel's tone shifted, becoming more impassioned toward the end,"Look, I don't know you. But you're not a Diamond's lapdog are you? You've got a mind of your own, you know what's right and what isn't. Not like that sapphire," She tipped her head to gesture toward Padparadscha, still gathering evidence and focus.
The sapphire herself was oblivious to the conversation, she trusted that Chip would do as he must, and tried to regain her form. But her concentration remained frayed in different directions. Though she had a good amount of samples, she wondered if this place could truly be considered a hide-out, it certainly didn't seem to be a main base for rebel activity. If this was the only rebel here, then what would that mean for previous or future reports?

The gem wasn't exactly excited by his offer. Chip couldn't blame her. It really wasn't all that appealing, but he had to try it. Well... it was worth the shot.
"Uhm... every gem has a mind of their own... some just don't use it very often... I guess blindly following the Diamonds is simply easier than to think. But the lack of any order is not good either. I mean killing hundreds of unborn gems by sabotaging the Kindergardens isn't exactly something the rebellion should be proud off."
He was talking more to himself than to to the gem. "And yeah, living alone is a nice idea... but it won't last. Sooner rather than later Diamonds will attack this planet... and what then? Will you just stand aside? Watch as the planet burn? And let's face it... you would rather join the rebellion then Homeworld. So that makes you potential enemy..."
Yeah, he didn't believe that. It sounded so empty.
Enstatite listened with a grim expression, then nodded, before continuing to whisper, "I know how hard it is to cast aside the cause you've worked for so long upholding. I have been around for...hmm, it's gotta be around seven thousand years now...I worked for Homeworld until I heard about the rebellion. Yeah, I rebelled, despite everything I'd sacrificed for the Emerald that I served, for the Diamond that I served. I realized what I'd done wasn't right. Like you say, the rebellion isn't free from blame, but if you think about it..." She paused as the sapphire looked over her shoulder, trying to figure out what was taking Chip so long, though Padparadscha went back to her work. "--If you think about it, if enough gems rebel, that's one step closer to a less chaotic society, one where gems don't have to be forced to do things they don't want to do, one where gems aren't shattered for their mistakes or for the way they emerged," Her eyes flicked around the short gem,"I mean, you're an off color aren't you? What are you going to do when a new series of fire opals is made?"
"Chip?" The sapphire called as she realized Enstatite was speaking,"Status? No need to interrogate the suspect until we reach Headquarters," The sapphire narrowed her eyes for a moment, wondering. She knew this would be difficult for Chip, but she also knew that the more time the young gem spent talking to this rebel, the harder it would be for him. The thought made it even more difficult for her to concentrate, and she began to feel more and more exhausted as she stayed locked on this small lizard shape.

Chip blanked few times. "7000 years? Wow... I'm like... 3?" it was incredible. Though she might have use some of those to learn to fight. The number was so beyond anything he could imagine. Before he could even get angry about being called an off-colour he was interrupted by Sapphire.
"Well... I'm a fighter not an assassin... and she is not fighting me right now... so... working on it..."
He explained simply. He was good at fighting enemies. Poofing someone who couldn't find wasn't something he was ok with. He turned to the gem again and finally let his anger take hold.
"Listen, I maybe a bit defective, but I am not an off-colour. And they could whip up dozens of new Fire Opals, but they won't be as strong as I am... and they would know that if they even notice me!"
He didn't exactly sound intimidating, but when he got angry some fire started to come out of his eyes. Also the temperature around was beginning to rise. Chip was indeed a really powerful gem, but he had some self-control issues...
Padparadscha looked at the fire opal for a moment, and pursed her lips. She supposed he was right, but she also had a pretty good idea of what might actually be going on here. Chip looked visibly upset after the rebel spoke, and she wondered if the suspect was trying to provoke the defender. Ever more, it became harder to maintain this form, but as difficult to try to change it back-- she felt as if she were a taffy being pulled in two different directions. She gave a tired sigh.
Enstatite's brows slanted as she realized she should've been more careful with her wording. Her eyes darted away from Chip as she tried to think of another way to put things. "I'm sorry, you just don't look like other fire opals I've seen. The question remains though, if you have trouble poofing lil ol me, what are you going to do when your Diamond asks you to shatter any gem who tries to get in the way of Homeworld? Are you going to do it?" Enstatite crossed her arms,"Do you think you'd be able to shatter a gem just for wanting a different way of life?"
The sapphire shook out her arms. Every sample she could've wanted was collected, now was only the matter of dealing with this green rebel who had given them a bit of trouble today. She turned around, and started to walk back over to see what exactly it was that was holding Chip up at this point. But, she realized how tired she was as she walked, each step forward felt as if it were weighed down with sandbags.

Chip was getting really angry. And it wasn't only because what the gem said. Everyone was always trying to sway him one way or the other. And apparently everything he did was wrong. Everyone had their point of view, their truth and Chip was too young to make head or tale from it. A fire wings sprung from his back and he started to levitate few centimetres from the ground.
"Why the hell can't you just live together?! Universe is a BIG place you know? But noooo... you just had to fight over planet I was born on. Give me a break, all of you! I don't need you, I don't need anyone! I wanted to fit in but seems to me like I can't. Homeworld wants me to fight rebels, rebels want me to fight Homeworld... and I just want everyone to STOP FIGHTING! Do you really want me to to start fighting too?!"
He asked very loudly. With that he raised his hand and shot a massive beam of fire towards the roof. It blasted a neat hole right through it, letting some nice sunshine in.
"Do any of you really want me to use THIS on another gem?!"
He asked seriously. His rage was filling him with energy, he felt like he could easily turn this entire temple to rubble if he wanted.
The rebel's eyes widened as the small defender lifted off of the ground, and her mouth hung open as she tried to think of another way to reword what she'd said. She knew her situation couldn't get much worse, but she realized she'd read this fire opal wrong-- her eyes flicked up to follow the bolt as it zipped through the ceiling, then her eyes trailed back down to the gem. Enstatite began to blather on, tripping over her own tongue as she spoke, "T-that's just it though! Homeworld's Empire just wants to keep fighting, fighting, fighting-- for all my seven thousand years that's all it's ever been! But it can change, if-- if--"
Padparadscha quickened her steps as she figured her guess had been correct, and from Chip's words, she was able to put together the full picture. Her eyes stabbed into the rebel, and she made a final decision. "That's enough, rebel," The sapphire snapped at Enstatite. Then, her eyes cut over to Chip, who had revealed the truth of his inner turmoil in his charged words. She knew it wouldn't be wise to provoke him further, but she also needed this mission to remain on the up-and-up. She made a mental note, rolled her shoulders, and approached the cage, then looked over the fire opal.
"I've finished my perimeter sweep. All we have to do now is get this gem to a holding cell. Chip--" She gave a sigh,"I'll do it, if you can't right now. But keep in mind that this rebellion isn't going to allow for any gem to stand idle, between the frays," Her expression was somber-- seeing gems fight gems, over a planet like this, she could see why Chip was angry. She was too, but it was the rebels she was angry with, "Quelling the rebels is all we can do for now, they're the ones who started this mess,"
Post by Chip the Fire Opal on Dec 16, 2017 12:39:55 GMT
Chip understood it. Or at least he thought he did. The rebels wanted to be free, they wanted to live without being commanded by Diamonds. And Diamonds? They couldn't let this go, they would appear weak and more rebellion would start. He didn't believe that Diamonds were kind and perfect, at least most of them. But Pink Diamond was suppose to be different - kinder, wiser... but what if that was just a lie he told himself? Oppressing others couldn't be the way to go. Humans learned that the hard way, was it the future of Gem Empire too?
"Oh this again? I thought we were pass this phase. We were made to serve Pink Diamond. It's the right thing to do. It's literally why we were made for. This stupid rebellion is doomed anyway. And Pink Diamond will save humans... they could be useful to her..." the Voice appeared once more. It was silent since the day Chip proclaimed he will join the Homeworld, but now it was back. Chip frowned as he heard the voice again, but it only made him angrier.
"Oh c'mon... why do you have to do that? Why EVERYONE needs something from me?! I hate hurting others... but all you gems seems to want is to kill each other! Even the stupid humans learn to mostly live with each other, but we can't?! Do you want a war? Or you? Thousands of gems killed, planet ravaged... nothing good will come from it..."
He pointed hands on both of them, giving them no other option than to speak...
Padparadscha's expression darkened as he spoke. Her eyes flickered between his hands before darting up to bore into Chip's expression, her chin raising as her shoulders went back. "Nobody but the rebels want war between gems," She snapped, her own ire piqued by the fact that this discussion was underway at all. Enstatite's mouth worked wordlessly as she tried to put together anything she could do or say in this escalating situation, but the sapphire was the one to continue speaking, "Remember when I told you to be careful, Chip?" The sapphire's tone seethed as her eyes burned, but she remained in place with her small hands clasped behind her,"Threatening a sapphire of the Pink Court? This isn't becoming of a Fire Opal defender, nor any loyal gem,"
It wasn't becoming of a sapphire to be in the shape of a lizard either, and she assumed this form would make her less imposing. It also limited her energy, and she was suddenly struck with anxiety. Without the energy to perform her plasma manipulation at length, would she be able to properly control this situation? Now it became even more difficult to concentrate, to the point where she couldn't even hold onto her thoughts as she tried to strategize. Chip was a warrior, built for combat and with enough fire power to blast clear through the solid stone of the temple; she was a lone sapphire, powerful in her own right, but not made for a fight-- at this point, she didn't know what to expect from him, given his words. Her teeth clenched and hoped her words would have an impact,"You were created because Pink Diamond needed you; she needs your loyalty, your talent. You're so very young, it leads me to believe that Pink Diamond created you with the rebellion in mind. It would disappoint me greatly if you were to turn your back on this purpose you were created for, by the Diamond we share,"
Enstatite squirmed, standing up as much as she could, though her full height couldn't be reached as she gestured to Chip, seeing an opportunity to interject,"See what I mean!" She ushered her words out quickly,"T-this is it! You understand, Fire Opal! You can choose for yourself, save this planet from us gems, from the Diamon--"
"Enough, traitor,"Padparadscha used what little of her power she could to conjure a small mass of plasma from the air and pointed it toward Enstatite, gritting her teeth as she tried to think of a good way out of this situation. For now, she would try to put on a ruse, and hope that neither of these gems could sense her weakness.

"Oh we both know, that Diamonds will never accept me... I am too different."
Perhaps Chip finally accepted what was bothering him for such a long time. It was painful realisation, but in some strange way almost refreshing.
"Gems are created with personalities, knowledge, skills... not me. I had to earn everything on my own. I had to learn the hard way and I did. And I was praying to the Diamonds to come and save me. To fix me so I can be like other gems. But they never came. "This one is broken, get rid of it". These were the very first words I ever heard you know... coming from a loyalist peridot. I didn't even knew who I was... but I already had to fight for my survival. And I did ever since."
He said, his anger rising and with it the temperature in the room.
"Pink Diamond needed a group of elite loyal warriors. Too bad... she only got me. The single survivor Fire Opal on Earth. And I did my best to earn her approval. Yet she never came... "
Chip was young and naive. But he understood too well, that he really would do anything if only he could hear "You did well" from his Diamond. But he was a single gem. Not important enough for Pink Diamond to take notice. He never was and whatever he would do wouldn't change that. "... and we both know, that she never will. Not for me anyway... I am not important enough... "
Saying those things was... crushing. Before he said it he could pretend it's not true. He could lie to himself. Not anymore.
Padparadscha couldn't for the life of her imagine why gems like Enstatite or even Chip at this point held the view that they did, her brows rose in bewilderment as she wondered whether Chip was confessing to treasonous thoughts to her. "Pink Diamond doesn't waste her valuable resources. A gem like this traitor has renounced her value, to become a hindrance rather than an asset to her Diamond. A loyal gem is always valued for their compliance,"
"Pff," Enstatite wanted to put her two cents in,"That's easy for a sapphire to say,"
The sapphire's lips pressed together as her fists clenched, she had enough. As far as she was concerned neither of these gems had any right to be talking to her like this. She was tired, angry, and didn't know how to defuse the situation. It was times like these that she envied more diplomatically inclined sapphires, the ones who truly had a knack for changing minds and settling disputes. Her field would be more in the range of provoking, dragging information forth from her suspects.
Her attention turned toward Enstatite; she wasn't all together sure if her ability would be charged enough at this point to neutralize this gem quickly, without causing any undue suffering. Though, the more wrathful energy that boiled in her now wondered why she cared if Enstatite didn't handle the heat well.
It was then that she had an idea, eyes flicking back toward the young Fire Opal, "Chip, you'll have to see the magnanimous Pink Diamond yourself to settle this once and for all. I'm not sure if it has come through, but as a Judicial Court special task operative, I have direct access to the trial courts, interrogation rooms-- and I regularly interact with our Diamond. Perhaps if you would allow me, I would introduce you to your leader. Rare and powerful as you are, I wouldn't be surprised if she added you to her personal guard, or to an otherwise high-profile gem," She glared expectantly at the defender. This proposition would have many facets, and it would tell her how next to proceed in her association with this fire opal.

Chip looked very sadly at Padparadscha. It was very obvious, that the young gem was really lost, fighting with himself. Though the fact is, that he was even more torn that he himself realised.
"I... if Pink Diamond saw me now, I am pretty sure she wouldn't see a loyal gem."
He said, his eyes stopped glowing with fire and the temperature slowly started to drop. He didn't really calmed down as much as he burned down, disappointed in himself. Padparadscha was so... reasonable, he couldn't stay angry, even if he wanted. There was no chance he would shoot her, and he couldn't frighten her, that was obvious now.
"I always wanted to see her... but I was afraid... that she would be disappointed to see me, instead of a brawny warrior. I... don't even know how to act in the presence of a Diamond. She could easily let me be shattered."
He said. The survivor instinct in him was really strong. He was made to survive no matter what. "But... I guess since I was created for her it is her right to do so... "
He finally landed, appearing once more as a heartbroken kid, instead of a small fire demon.
