Appearance/Weapons/Ship
Personality
Morganite is what some gems would expect a commander to be on duty, a serious, by-the-book, emotionless machine that gives out commands. However as bland as that statement proclaims her, Morganite’s true, unrestricted colors tend to shine in times of calm and peace. Such as when traveling to and from assignments, Morganite can become very loving toward Morri, and even sometimes her crew, depending on the situation. Her cold, unfaltering attitude which dominates her submissive kindness, tends to disappear during this time as well, causing her to be less serious and maybe even enjoy a joke or two.
However, on duty, besides what was mentioned, she’s mostly cautious and cunning, attempting to be aware of every threat around her, even to some points making her paranoid.
But when the fighting begins, Morganite’s normality, changes. Her competitive attitude takes ahold of her, making the strategic plans she creates against any gem, deadly. Her prediction skills, while nothing compared to sapphires, tend to be extremely accurate in a fight. However, her prediction and strategies tend to be drowned out by her taunts if she gets too ahead of herself, her silence broken when close to victory.
Morri on the other hand is nothing like Morganite, she’s instead emotional, clingy, and instead of sharing Morganite’s cunning or skills in battle, she is feebleminded, and clumsy. She often wanders aimlessly, with no actual intention of doing anything, and gets lost easily. Her memory is barely able to remember anything of Important value, barely learning anything despite Morganite’s best attempts. She tries her best however to be useful to Morganite’s crew and Morganite herself, often helping with carrying light objects when refueling or restocking at space stations.
She has no useful battle experiences, and has no memory of being a weapon.
Likes/Dislikes
Morganite likes planning out strategies, so she can be ready for any scenario. She also enjoys sparring with her crew or playing with Morri, who seems to enjoy gem laser pointers, like human’s pet cats.
And when prisoners are on board and being transported, Morganite loves to interrogate them, or letting her crew rough them up while watching, careful not to let Morri in on the often if not always, brutal beatings.
Taunting things also happens to be Morganite’s pastime in battle, when they are close to victory.
Morri on the other hand, doesn’t really seem to have any preferences, only that she needs to be nearby Morganite, or any of the crew. If she were to say, be flung to earth without anyone with her, she would panic for the first few minutes, only to forget what she was panicking about, but not forget Morganite completely.
On a side note, Morri also happens to like napping, something she will soon see that humans enjoy too, then forget about the relation completely.
Moving on to dislikes, Morganite does not like organics, despite how they possibly seem to have a importance to gem creation and have certain uses that could benefit gemkind. She also hates the scars that she seems to accumulate due to missing a certain part of her, but they make great stories for Morri, her favorite being the scar that stretches across her right eye, which seems to be coming close to finally healing completely, what story will Morri favorite next?
Morri doesn't like four-legged creatures. or Eight-legged creatures, as for some reason they provoke some sort of desperate need to run away in the opposite direction for Morri, which tends to cause problems, or get her lost.
Fears
Morganites worst fear is losing Morri, something she has become so deeply attached to that if she were to lose her, she wouldn’t know what to do anymore… And she’d be bent on killing anyone who hurt her, even if it was ordered by homeworld in which, she also fears Morri being taken from her, to be shattered by someone ‘more able.’
Morri is afraid of being isolated, more specifically, she hates being alone and refuses to leave Morganite or the crew, or even any stranger she encounters if given the choice. However, this fear tends to become mild to non-existent when she’s on the same ship as them, causing her to wander aimlessly.
Weapon
As shown in the picture, Morganite wields two large broad-swords. These specific swords, while not as sharp or precise as Morri’s Weapon form, aren’t blunt and can cause a lot of damage if you get caught in the middle of one of her duel attacks.
They also can act as shields when placed together, however this will result in them, depending on the strength of the attack ((Faceted)), to bend and become useless until Morganite can have them repaired.
When she wields only one of the broad-swords, her attack speed increases, and her dodging and strikes become more precise. ((One post level higher than current level.))
Ability 1
Sword Spin Dash – Like Amethyst and Jasper, Morganite can curl into a ball, while equipped with duel broadswords, and basically slice through anything in her path. This is a high-Damage attack, but it is easily avoidable due to the fact Morganite can't see her target move out of the way should they dodge. The cooldown is 5 posts for each Sword Spin Dash, and if used more than four times, Morganite will become too tired to continue using the attack for that thread.
Ability 2
Due to Morganite’s gem separation, this ability transferred to Morri, whom still doesn’t know she can do this, and if any evidence of this occurred, she doesn’t remember.
Healing tears – Like Rose Quartz, Morri has the ability to cry healing tears, however Morri’s emotional state must be in a flux of sadness and worry for the gem she is trying to heal, and the gem in question must be cracked. If she is being threatened into healing the gem, her tears will do nothing to heal the damage. If Morri heals more than one gem in a thread, She will become too tired from the emotional strain, and will fall asleep after healing the second gem.
Fusions: Morganite has no fusions, and Morri does not have the ability to fuse.
History
Morganite’s existence began long ago, on a planet located in the farthest regions from Homeworld, an undeveloped colony ruled by the illustrious Yellow, Diamond. The colony was to become a military outpost, to further the Diamond Authority’s rule into the universe. However, the planet barely met colonization standards as it was a rushed project, on a world with little resources.
This shortage of resources resulted in outrage against the diamonds, Yellow Diamond specifically. Those whom spoke their minds against her were shattered for treason, except for a large number of gems who escaped to a hidden base, located deep in the planet’s mountains. It was there they created a rebellion, strong enough to destroy a large portion of the army currently stationed on the planet.
These rebels, bold and confident, were set on stopping the drainage of resources, and to appeal to the Diamond Authority, to get more resources shipped in, instead of draining them from the planet.
But, the radiant Yellow Diamond refused, for reasons not understood by the rebellion, who decided it was time for a more… Efficient strategy, and by ‘more efficient’ they meant brutally murdering gems who didn’t agree with them.
They began attacking gems of all ranks, staging raids and shattering any authority whom tried to stop them. It was only a hundred years into this excuse of a war, that they finally had the power to conduct a successful raid on the main resource consumer, the Main Kindergarten.
If they could shut down the kindergarten, they would no longer need to worry of the damaged caused by it, and the planet would be free from being sucked dry of all its valuable resources. They were so incredibly confident in their abilities to save the planet from it’s inevitable demise, but they did not account for the idea of a gem, so powerful that her inner strength was the only weapon she required to strike down their brutal plans.
As the raid began, they fought under the mindset of shattering everything, and everyone. Not even the incubating gems would be spared, despite already absorbing the resources required. The cruel and unrelenting raid continued onward, Jaspers, Carnelians, and even some Amethysts fought for their own lives as they tried so hard to beat them back, barely able to defend the kindergartners whom had taken shelter in the remains of gems’ exit shafts.
It was only until one of the raiders attempting to crack open one of the still incubating gem’s residence, that the rebellion’s fall was set in motion. The cracked shaft in question, was Morganite’s still sealed shaft, whom had become ready to pop out of the ground as the gem dug at the crust of the shaft. However, something odd happened as she attempted to pop out, something that even gem scientists still question as to how it was possible.
The weapon the raider had been using was a sword, and as she stabbed at Morganite’s crumbling shaft, she hit the gem, but instead of shattering Morganite in an instant, something miraculous happened. The strike had been laid perfectly with her gem’s cleavage and caused it to become in a way, its own cut, it’s very own being.
The raider was thrown back as Morganite popped out of the ground, the small part of her that had been so rudely cut from her own gem becoming a weapon as she held it, wielding it with newfound skill and precision.
Absorbing the sounds of battle, the screams of war, the cries of agony that echoed around the canyon, in which her kindergarten had rested so peacefully up until this point, Morganite took her first steps forward. The sounds had suddenly become so natural to her, as she gazed upon her attacker, burning a hole through any confidence that remained within them.
The raid didn’t last long after she charged into the battle, Morganite’s blade slicing through the enemies’ forms in an instant, and her experimental tactics setting them off in confusion. She managed to help drive them so far back that in the end, the small remains of the rebellion surrendered. Morganite had led them to victory, despite being the newbie fueled by unlikely circumstances.
Though, this late entrance into the war, no fault on Morganite, had still allowed major damage to the kindergarten, and several gems had been shattered, including kindergartners. There was only a few gems left in incubation now, and with many of the injectors destroyed or offline, there was a lot of work to do to restore it to full power, if the merciful Yellow Diamond chose to continue progress. However, there wasn’t enough resources to continue the colony outpost, so it was dismantled.
As the colony was slowly evacuated, with what remains were still useful, Yellow Diamond heard of Morganite’s deed, her skill in battle and what drove the rebellion to surrendering, despite having just broken free of the planet’s crust.
The gracious Yellow Diamond approved of the deed she had done, and awarded her the rank of commander among a science vessel and five smaller ships. Ordered to do as she had done for her former home, she was to protect the kindergartens of planets under attack, and monitor the progress of each one she was assigned to.
This led to some interesting experiences, to say the least. Morganite learned many things about kindergartens, how they worked, how the exit marks could tell various aspects of the gem itself. But most importantly, she defended each one to the best of her ability, despite on several occasions just standing around, keeping watch.
One day, it all changed as fire seemed to rain down from the heavens, Morganite’s current squad of Amethysts, Jaspers, and a few Citrines taking flight as the kindergarten was raided, each of them ready to fight to the last strike, even if death was knocking on the front door. The scenario was like Morganite’s first battle, almost under the same circumstances even.
Specifically, the traitors of this planet wanted the kindergarten shut down, yet for reasons different than before. Still, the mindset was the same, to a point. They were going to shatter any gem that got in their way, destroy anything related to the creation of gems, except for the incubating gems, who were spared from their bloodlust.
It honestly would have been an easy battle, if it weren’t for several ranged attacks from above, as several traitorous snipers hid in empty shafts, firing at Morganite’s squad. It got to a point where the squad had to hide behind broken injectors for cover, separated from the kindergartners who they were trying to save and protect.
Morganites preplanned formations had failed so far, so now, it was time to improvise. Looking around in a desperate attempt to gain the advantage, she quickly judged her surroundings for anything that could assist them. Soon she spotted several pieces of rocks, broken from gems breaking out of the crust, an idea coming to mind as to how they could be of use.
It was only a moment later until the rest of the squad caught on to the plan, Morganite beginning to use the rocks as ammunition against the ranged, traitorous gems. The balance of power had shifted at last, no longer locking them in a standstill. Now, slowly but steadily, they made their offensive, the ranged gems unable to compensate for the large amounts of rocks being thrown in their directions. But even as they gained the advantage, Morganite’s squad wasn’t prepared for their commander to be… disarmed.
Ahead of the squad and closest to the kindergartners, Morganite charged forward in a mad dash, trying to reach them first before the traitorous ground forces managed to get close enough to shatter them. But, it was all for nothing as an explosion set off in-front of her, one of the ranged gems having thrown an explosive toward the group. The damage was severe as several of the remaining kindergartners were cracked, or shattered by the damage.
It would have destroyed Morganite’s gem too, if it weren’t for her sword, which she promptly put between her and the explosion in an attempt to defend herself from the sudden attack. But Morganite hadn’t accounted for the damage done to her sword specifically, the blast having cracked the pummel of her blade, once powerful enough to partially destroy a rebellion, now…
A small, useless, humanoid being. Structure of a ruby, yet hair of a common quartz. The weapon’s original ‘programming’ had been dominated by humanoid programming, having been inactive ever since Morganite’s birth.
This unsurprisingly caused Morganite to panic, as she tried to take cover before she too, was cracked in battle. She hadn’t expected it to ever crack like this, or even turn into a form such as, whatever it was. What was she supposed to do now, even if her squad seemed to be doing well on their own now, she couldn’t just sit there, without a weapon and no chance of survival with this… Useless creature in her hands.
She was normally a brilliant strategic gem, but the panic within filled her thoughts with nonsense, as she tried to find something, anything to keep fighting, and helping to defeat the traitors. Eventually, her thoughts calmed, and as she looked to the broken injector she hid behind, she tore off two of the limbs, gripping them tightly after she hid the shard in one of the exit shafts. It had been inactive, sleeping in human terms, so Morganite hoped it wouldn’t move from there.
With weapons no longer as powerful as her original one, she still put up a decently good fight, and with her squad, they managed to drive out the remaining traitors. However, the damage was severe to the kindergarten. Several if not all the injectors were destroyed, kindergartners had been shattered or cracked, and finally, her weapon had been… Destroyed.
As soon as the battle was finished and the damages had been accounted for, Morganite quickly ran to her former weapon, which hadn’t moved from its position, still asleep. At least Morganite didn’t have to search for it had it scampered off, but there was something wrong here, very wrong. Why in the stars had it taken a humanoid form, and would it be able to return back into a weapon should it be healed? Was it sentient?
No answers were in site, and with news of traitor reinforcements, it was time to leave before they returned. While they were heading to their ship, she was questioned by the squad as to what exactly happened to her weapon, but she quickly retaliated with an order to keep quiet about the situation, until she could find answers, which was quickly followed.
Back on the ship, Morganite dropped off the inactive shard in a containment area until further studies could be completed, and left to check on the progress of her squad’s recovery. She didn’t think it would ever wake, and frankly, she was slightly worried as to the nature of the humanoid, what were its abilities, could it destroy the ship? Could it contain a type of ‘virus’ that infected gems and turn them into weapons?
Honestly, she didn’t have time for this situation, and she still had to make a report to Yellow Diamond regarding this turn of events. Even if they had managed to save the colony to a point, there was chances the next squad would fail, and with Morganite disarmed, she could be shattered for her incompetence.
She held her breath as she reported to Yellow Diamond, whom reacted with a strict and overall serious tone, and while a threat was placed, Morganite was thankfully not shattered. But Yellow Diamond was surprised, if you could call it that, to hear Morganite’s weapon had been ‘Destroyed.’ She inquired as to how, and Morganite explained the situation.
In the end, she was issued with two new swords, and was ordered to destroy the shard. The order didn’t sit well with Morganite however, who as she ended the report and headed to the command center, questioned the order in it’s entirety. She was supposed destroy something that was once part of her very being? She couldn’t do that!
Stuck on the matter, Morganite sat in the seat associated with her rank, staring into the consoles that lined the ships main command center. How in the stars was she supposed to, in a way, kill herself? What if it was sentient, or there was a way to fix it? They couldn’t destroy it...
Her mind raced, taking a long time to decide as she debated with herself, sinking into her chair until she finally came to the idea that, she would not follow the order. There were various reasons that fueled this idea, including some science hypothesis she wished to test. But out of all of the reasons, it was the fact it was part of her, something that without it, would make her incomplete, forever.
Meanwhile the shard had woken up, and surprisingly, it had begun to cry, seemingly upset due to being alone. It got so loud to the point of a ship technician coming to investigate the noises the shard was making, confused as to why it was making them.
After trying to solve and stop its annoying cries, she called up Morganite on a nearby console, reporting the incident currently occurring, which Morganite rushed to the scene. As soon as she got there she asked the technician what she had done, but her response was nothing, so Morganite deactivated the force-field and walked in slowly, coming to sit by the shard.
Morganite was unusually soft mannered with it, which was alarming to see, due to how strict she normally was with the squad. Eventually, she managed to calm the poor thing, and realized it couldn’t speak, or had any information that gems were normally born with.
She needed to teach it, and that’s what she did from then on.
For the next thousand years between assignments, Morganite worked with the shard to teach it gem language, how to walk, what morganite’s were supposed to do, gem roles, and many, many other things. However, it came apparent that it’s memory, and overall ability to process information wasn’t very... Good, to say the least. Things gems would learn easily were slow to make sense to the shard, in fact in that one thousand years, the shard only managed to learn language… Mostly.
Morganite still tried her best to teach, and continues to teach the shard, even enlisting in help from her now permanent squad, who are like ‘family’ to the shard. They even named her since ‘the shard’ didn’t roll off the tongue compared to ‘Morri.’
Soon after a few more battles and assignments, Yellow Diamond gave Morganite a new order, to assist with the colonization of earth, or any of the combat needs of Pink Diamond. It sounded like an easy task, and due to rumors Morganite had no concern as to the severity of the attacks that could occur, so Morganite and her crew of three Amethysts, two Jaspers, a Peridot, and one Carnelian split off from the other five ships and headed to earth, in which Morganite’s concern grew as they came closer to the planet, reports regarding it very… disconcerting, to say the least. It was almost as if the world was fighting back in full, despite the human population’s weaknesses.
Once they took orbit around the planet, Morganite prepared her crew for any assignments Pink Diamond would ask of them, unaware that during the briefing, Morri, the shard, had somehow wandered into an escape pod, and had been launched to earth, toward Beach City, the supposed source of the rebellion.
…Safe to say, Morganite wasn’t exactly happy to hear about this.
