...”Alright, and that’s it regarding orders. Remember, while we are still under Yellow Diamond’s authority, we will be receiving orders from Pink Diamond, or other commanders under her judgement, in some cases.” Finished Morganite, collapsing her Holo-Screen. They had just arrived in orbit, and were preparing to contact the moon base for their first assignment, Morganite’s briefing preparing her squadron for the upcoming missions that would come in time, or in the first contact from the Moon Base.
It was a simple presentation really, going over plans, the geography of the planet, and in simple terms preparing for the worst, or most dangerous missions. The crew had been over similar plans for other planets and assignments, but those subtle differences made it necessary to the success of the mission, and aided in Morganite’s boredom during interstellar travel.
Though, making up plans that go through the entire Human alphabet, may be dragging it a little too far. Especially when plans will have to be altered due to unpredictable circumstances, and with Pink Diamond’s Colony, it was extremely unpredictable. Never had Morganite seen so many reports detailing rebels as so organized, and skilled in battle. Morganite feared she would have to train the crew hard, bringing on her more strict and serious tones.
Which, Morri wouldn’t be too happy about that, seeing as the days go by, she seems to need more attention and supervision, considering her last few times getting lost. Specifically on the last space station they had visited, but, that was a story to recall at a different time.
Morganite watched silently as her crew walked out of the cargo bay, which the presentation had been held in, and sighed. She didn’t like having to order them around so tightly, but with this assignment, it seemed essential for their well-being, and success at the missions to come.
“Wait a moment Carnelian.” She called to the last gem exiting the room, whom quickly turned to face Morganite as she was approached, quickly saluting.
“Did Peridot set up the containment cubbie for Morri yet?” Morganite asked curiously, crossing her arms as she looked to the gem in question, waiting for the Carnelian’s response.
Originally, the plan had been to keep Morri in a containment area until the mission was done, due to the planet’s rather hostile nature, and the fact Morri tended to easily get herself into trouble, activating systems that could lead to her death in the most extreme cases.
“Not sure Commander, haven’t checked up on Peridot for a while, but I think I remember Peridot Mentionin’ something about Morri wandering aimlessly again?” The Carnelian replied steadily, looking away as she attempted to recall Peridot’s last assessment of the project.
However, before Morganite could respond, she and the Carnelian were met with an alarm blaring through the ship, an out-of-date warning system that alerted gems of launched escape pods. Morganite looked to the Carnelian in confusion, whom also shared Morganite’s expression as they both made their way to the nearest terminal, calling up a diagnostic of the ship, and Peridot in the process.
The peridot looked panicked, her finger dragging across screens as she attempted to shut the alarm off, Morganite making a mental note to get her to just update the system at a later time. “Peridot, what’s going on, who launched an escape pod off my ship?” She demanded, attempting to speak over the loud, obnoxious noise of the alarm.
“Checking now!” Peridot exclaimed in a panic, bringing up a security feed of the location where the pod had been launched.
Meanwhile, Morri was curled up in the small enclosed escape pod, napping as the planet came closer and closer, or in more real terms, as the escape pod plummeted toward the earth, toward the edge of Beach city, a Human town on the coast and possible home to the rebels.
Morri had only been wandering the ship aimlessly, suddenly tripping on her oversize dress as she fell forward onto the floor, which to her surprise engulfed her in a pink bubble, filling with liquid, and proceeded to form some sort of escape pod.
Confused for only a few short moments, she forgot why, and quickly became tired, falling asleep as the escape pod flew through the planet’s atmosphere, mesmerized by the flames that seemed to dance in the escape pod’s window.
It was only a few minutes until it slammed into the ground, just outside of beach city. In its wake a streak of light followed, making it seem to appear as a shooting star, which had made it’s landing location quite clear.
The escape pod remained intact, a diamond symbol surrounding it. However, the liquid must of cushioned her fall, because she still slept soundly, her cracked gem still in one piece.
