Even if the stern gem had not been so suspicious, which of course they had been, the sudden retreat of the supposed Howlite gem would have thrown up a red flag for 7XB, their heavy brow coaxing it's way upwards as the gem bolted away in a decidedly graceless fashion, disappearing just over the farthest ridge of sand. As such, the quartz didn't see when the odd gem revealed their true nature, but it would have been impossible for them to miss the massive statue past that ridge, so large as to loom over the entirety of the beach. Clearly it was gem in origin, but it still looked quite alien to 7XB.
With the rubies returning automatically to their important task, the quartz commander was free to pursue this new thread. “Inquisitor,” they began suddenly, rocking their head in the direction of the massive, decrepit depiction of a gem, “have you any idea what that is?” Something told them nothing good could be found there, despite it's familiar look.
His attention was entirely grabbed by the use of his title (even if he was only an apprentice), it had been a long while since he had worked as such. Agate stood at attention and looked off to the horizon, "Yes actually, I've been there before. It's a home of sorts for the Crystal Gems, more of a base I guess. Perhaps they are off to find rebels? Though they were very strange, almost like they were nervous." Not sounding terribly inquisitive her simply let out a, "Who knows, I am kinda curious though. If we want to learn what the nervousness was about, I think we'll have to go follow. That is, if you aren't busy with this... radio thing."
Blinking, the Quartz indulged in a momentary pause, unable to fend off the scowl that claimed their expression at the nonchalant tone the agate in regards to what was, apparently, the bonefide headquarters of the Crystal Gems. “The rebels?” They questioned, fighting to keep their tone balanced, though it already bordered on derisive, “the entire reason, the source of all the disruptions on the colony?” As if they didn't already know the answer.
The Quartz sighed, flipping their bone-bleached mane of hair out of their eyes despite the best efforts of the salt air they blew annoyingly down the beach. Oh, how they hated this planet and it's.. atmosphere. “Do you think that maybe, just maybe, that strange acting gem that just bolted off towards the rebel base..might be?..” they made a 'go on’ motion with their hand, hoping that this little gem was as astute as one would expect.
"Regardless, yes, I believe it would be prudent to at least take a look. My rubies can handle the device until I get back." Hopefully it would be completed by then, and would just need activation.
Agate looked on rather passively as XB seemed almost confused about what he said, didn’t everyone know about this? Then again, he never really has talked to anyone about it. Maybe he should have...
He simply gave an embarrassed, “Yes...? I mean, they seem to keep to themselves for the most part.”
It took a surprisingly long while for Agate to catch on to what XB was implying, the gears in his mind almost visibly turning, “A... rebel? I suppose, but they said... oh...” his eyes widened, “Yes so maybe investigating would be smart. I know the way, let me show you. I’m sure we can catch up to them.” And just like that he pressed on towards the temple, turning to XB briefly and gave them a big smile, “You’re pretty smart y’know. Most gems might not have figured that out.”
It was outrageous to think that any gem, particularly one that referred to themselves as an Inquisitor, would fail to catch something so obviously off (though they hadn't exactly noticed the statue themselves), but now was not the time to look suspiciously upon this Agate, especially when this other gem was more actively seditious. With a shake of their head, 7XB began to follow after the smaller gem, easily outpacing them with their comparatively long legs.
“An enemy you can't see is no less dangerous then one you can.” They said in response to such a ridiculous statement.
“I fear for all of Gemkind if I'm considered the best Homeworld can offer,” they groused soon after, making short work of the sandy hill the suspect had recently ducked over. “Keep up,” they demanded of the blue gem. Something, they mused, a Quartz would never need to say to a proper Agate. The giant statue grew ever closer, an eerily familiar visage that laid judgementally across everything in it's path.
Surprisingly Agate kept good pace with XB, almost as if he was used to walking along side someone with a long stride, leading them over the beach just past the hills till he stopped as soon as they were within proper sight of the temple. They were still a fair ways away, making an observation of the structure difficult, but he simply stood in place and held up a hand. Had XB been paying attention they would notice his pupils dilate while he stared ahead at the temple as if focused on something. Without turning to XB he spoke, "I see... the main room and... two guards. I don't see our friend, but they could be inside."
His eyes focused back to normal and he turned to XB, "The guards look pretty big, how you wanna handle this? We might be able to just go past them if you uh..." He gestured to the Diamond regalia on their form, "Get rid of or cover that up."

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
