Blue had been walking for what seemed like days on end, finally she came to the beta kindergarten. She grinned and hoped that Opalite would have the same idea as she had. "Alright Opalite, I'm here, I know you will be too." Blue said to herself as she sat and waited on a tall rock, watching the kindergarten for her friend, or worse, a corrupted gem. She sat and she waited. Looking around, scanning the barren canyon, before realizing that the large gold star on her chest may be a dead giveaway for any homeworld gems who would want to arrest her. But se reassured herself that she could probably take on any gem that would tray an attack. Unless there were more than two or three.
Not far behind, the investigator followed the trail of a rebel she'd once encountered. Though, for the time being, she would keep herself at a distance. She'd seen first hand the power of these gems, when she'd mistaken them for comrades. If Bluegold was here, then the opalite she'd encountered would be as well. This time, she wouldn't be facing off against them alone, if it came to that.
There was the reality, and the disadvantage, that this terrain didn't offer much cover. Her, and the bulky Amethyst that strayed not far away, had to find cover behind misshapen canyon stones and strange earth vegetation-- and Amethyst was not built for covert action. It had been one, among a few other reasons that Padparadscha had considered striking out alone on this mission, a self-given assignment to track down every rebel she'd allowed to escape her in the past.
For now, the sapphire simply kept watch of the situation, waiting for more opportunity to gather information. The presence of her guard would only be a measure in her safety, especially now that there was no possibility that she would get them confused; she found it unlikely that they might forget she was a loyalist.
With her new holoscreen tech, specifically designed for this sort of thing, she was able to get her documentation roll going without having to compromise her cover-- like she did in the last encounter she had with these rebels. But, she wondered if Amethyst might be able to do a better job at concealing herself; the lumbering quartz was huddled up behind a rock, her lips pressed together while she squinted absently at the surroundings.
Blue sat and thought to herself as she watched the kindergarten. She watched and watched. She soon got bored and climbed down from the rock to attack some boulders. Smashing each rock her hands and feet came into contact with. She was beginning to run out of rocks in the general vicinity and she came closer to the two gems who were spying on her without her knowing. Each rock she smashed brought her to the next, pushing her closer and closer to her watchers. Eventually she came to a single rock, she lifted her fist to punch at the rock, but before she could, a voice rang out through the canyon. "Blue?" It was Opalite, Blue turned around to see the smaller gem's shape winging towards her in the Distance.
Amethyst seemed to be in her own world, until she was jolted into high alert by the sound of blasting and tumbling of rubble as Bluegold began to occupy herself with her assault on the surrounding mineral deposits. The sapphire's shoulder's hiked up as the huge soldier gem stepped closer to where the two of them were hiding, and she bit her cheek as she prepared herself. Padparadscha's small hand shot up to signal for 6UE to remain in position, though she was antsy, rocking a bit on her heels as she anticipated an attack, watching Bluegold's shadow linger nearer and nearer.
Then, the rebel's footfall stopped, as a soft voice carried over the canyon. Padparadscha could've sighed with relief, but she knew this caper was far from over, and now she would have to find a way to keep up with both of these rebels. Part of her had hoped that Bluegold would be alone here-- she was formidable, but Opalite's manipulation of energy made the sapphire very nervous. Despite it, she had the benefit of a previous encounter; knowing how the enemy might fight or use their abilities was an enormous advantage, especially considering that the two Homeworlders had managed to remain hidden, for now.
There was also the realization that Bluegold had her back turned. She remembered in the last encounter, the soldier had been out of commission; perhaps she would have to act swiftly in order secure any kind of victory in this. With a glance in Amethyst's direction, her hand signal changed, and 6UE gave a nod, anticipation rising in the young soldier as she summoned her weapon in a flash of purple light.
Blue grinned as she watched her friend's shape fly towards her, she opened her arms wide as her friend flew down and landed just a few meters ahead of her. Blue ran forward to greet the small, light blue gem with a hug. Blue lifted off her feet and spun her around. This made Opalite laugh and giggle as she hugged back, tears of relief falling down the smaller gem's face.
"I thought I would never see you again!" Blue said happily, as she finally stopped spinning and tightened her hug on Opalite, who only stayed silent and hugged back. The two of them stayed there for a few seconds before both of their gems began to glow, it was dim at first but only seemed to get brighter.
Opalite grinned as Blue embraced her her eyes were watery and she didn't want to let go. Over the time that they had been separated, Opalite had learned what she had been feeling for Blue since they left homeworld, the emotion that had confused her for so long, even now it didn't make much sense, but it didn't matter, she still loved Blue, and she was sure, the way Blue looked at her and treated her, Blue felt the same for her. As ther gems began to glow, Opalite didn't notice until it got brighter. And the sound of a weapon being summoned also got her attention, however she had little time to react because before long her and Blue's forms turned into nothing more than differently colored blobs of light, meshing together. Then a bright flash of light, leaving only one form.
The sapphire was getting a bit of a flashback to their last encounter, it seemed the last time they'd met hadn't been the only time they were separated. Whatever was going on, it was no matter to her-- these two would be apprehended, and interrogated. She nearly signaled for Amethyst to run ahead, then was pushed to a halt as the bright light bloomed over the canyon. Her jaw dropped-- why on Earth would they fuse? What possible use could it have for them in this situation? Her lip pulled back as she stifled a gasp of shock.
Cross-gem fusion was nothing new to her, she'd seen them in the past, but the reason eluded her; especially considered these two gems were powerful enough on their own. Would a fusion between them be even more troublesome to deal with? The sapphire's teeth grit together as she tried to follow the course of events and come up with a plan.
She realized it was now or never, as far as this operation went. A fusion could be powerful, she knew, but they could also be their own downfall-- a lumbering, easy target in some cases. Her hand flew forward, signalling for Amethyst to make the charge. The quartz sprang out of her hiding spot, and launched straight for the newly formed fusion with her sword. In the same instant, Padparadscha dashed along the side of the scene, laying down a plasma foundation that would cool into a perimeter she would use for her emergent strategy and hoping Amethyst would be able to handle holding the fusion's attention.
The taller being's hands shot up to shield herself from the attack. She then realized she had four arms and stared at her hands for a second. Her eyes were drawn to the sapphire who was currently using her plasma to create a perimeter. "Hey! Wait!" She shouted and stepped out of the way of the lumbering amethyst, leaving her foot there to trip the quartz soldier. "We didn't mean to fuse!" She summoned a sword and a staff. "We don't want to fight! Please, call off your attack dog before we take maters into our own hands." She began to spin the staff in her hand so it began to kick up wind. "Why can't we work out a deal?"
Amethyst flipped over, tripping on the fusion's foot, but recovered quickly as she fell into a spin dash and raced around, keeping her distance before ending up on her enemy's flank. The guard ignored the fusion's words, but listened for orders from her sapphire, and Padparadscha herself pressed her lips together. It seemed almost like a genuine plea, but the fusion also looked to have a handle on her weapon.
"No negotiation is required," The sapphire said, her voice projecting over the canyon landscape as she continued to seal the radius around the fusion,"I've already confirmed your identities, fused or not, you're defectors. Treason is not a light offense, and you're under arrest by the authority vested in me," Her voice took on a more bitter aspect as she remembered the fact that she had once negotiated with these gems, particularly Opal, mostly for the benefit of the sapphire's own survival. For now, there were no deals to be made, that she was certain of. She would have to capture this fusion before they had the chance to escape again.
There was the added sting that she had helped these gems before-- she'd gone out of her way to prevent Bluegold from being shattered. Why had she done it? Now, it was hard to look back at her own actions and answer that question, and she began to realize there was a pattern in her interactions with rebels; she had, in the past, treated them with a certain mercy for the fact that they were gems. But mercy couldn't be allowed, not now.
The sapphire dashed around, attempting to completely encompass the area, while Amethyst continued her assault, sword swung toward the fusion's side.
The fusion growled at the sapphire's words. "Fine..." The fusion dove forward to narrowly avoid the amethyst's attack and tucked into a spin dash she followed the perimeter that was currently being set up. They kicked up a cloud of dust to conceal their movement, they knew that they were vulnerable as a new fusion so they had to use this cloud for one of two things, escape, or stealthy attacks. Once the cloud was big enough the fusion circled towards the center of the cloud and came out of their spin dash. They took the moment of cover they had to think and look back at any other fusions they had dealt with. Remembering one thing, their weapons could fuse too. They summoned their weapons once more and brought them together, after another, smaller flash of light, they held a tall, menacing scythe.
"Last chance to stop and talk peacefully." The fusion called out before two large wings spread from her back.
Amethyst's eyes widened as the fusion dodged and seemed to have similar abilities to a standard quartz. Soon, the dust kicked up by all of the spin-dashing going on billowing into a tall dust cloud, obscuring the guard's vision as she tried to blink it away and search for her target.
Padparadscha glowered at the cloud of dust as she completed her perimeter. There was no way she would compromise herself by leaping into the fray, so instead she kept her distance,"That is entirely contingent upon you," She called out to the enemy she couldn't see,"Are you willing to put aside your weapons, and come to face your judgement calmly and honorably, or will you continue to run from civilization and the law?" Now that the enemy was surrounded from the ground, she just had to figure out a way to keep her from escaping otherwise.
She knew the fusion was there somewhere, but she also knew that her personal guard was within the plume of dust as well. There were no good maneuvers to made, and so whether she liked it or not, there was a brief interlude to her assault. She decided she would use this moment as leverage of her own, while keeping a close eye on things-- if the fusion tried to escape, she would attempt to tag them, so they could be tracked. "If you prove to the Diamond's you're worth a second chance, you'll get one,"
As the dust clears, the fusion makes eye contact with the amethyst soldier. She stays still for a second, she looks like she's thinking about something. She then stands up straight and sticks her scythe in the dirt next to her before putting two of her hands on her hips and crossing her other two arms in front of her chest. "You're holding that wrong." She said. She just stared at the soldier, awaiting a response. She tilted her head slightly and looked at the sapphire at the edge of the clearing. "And you're technique is flawed...Very flawed." The fusion said. "You want to keep an enemy in, make a dome, not a perimeter." She explained then stopped talking with a look of surprise.
"Puh!" Amethyst's brows furrowed as she reeled and glanced around, then looked back at the suspect, taken aback by the suggestion,"I know how to hold the sword I crawled outwith," She retaliated, cutting the falcata shaped blade through the air in front of her as if to demonstrate how it was used.
Though the fusion wasn't wrong, a dome would be a good tactic for keeping a winged enemy in line, the sapphire would be hard pressed to tell an enemy the reasoning behind her construct's shape. Her lip pulled as she kept herself from revealing the particular reason she had chosen to surround this adversary from the ground first. But, this time, she wouldn't let the enemy take advantage of her. "She's trying to provoke you, 6UE," Padparadscha said with a languid tone, directed at Amethyst and the fusion. She was tired of her guard's outspoken attitude, especially during confrontations like this. Additionally, the aristocrat felt herself snubbed-- it wasn't as if she'd expected the fusion to change her outlook after one short speech, but the sapphire wasn't use to having her words circumvented in such a manner.
"Well it's working!" The soldier called back with some indignation. The sapphire rolled her eyes; that wasn't something one should announce to the enemy, but she supposed that 6UE did have her own way of doing things. Hopefully it wouldn't play to the fusion's advantage.
"Don't let it get to you," The sapphire knew the consequences of letting something like that get to her all too well. It was a shame that they had to strategize over the open air in real time. Now that the dust was clear, the next phase of her plan could be underwent. It would be costly on her energy reserves, so she turned toward the fusion,"As I've said, there is an easy way," She began, holding her arms up in front of her as she concentrated on bringing up her stores of energy. Her brow quirked up, as if waiting for an answer to her statement.
"No!" The fusion's hands shot up in front of her. She turned her head to look at the amethyst. "I didn't mean it like that, you're in a defensive position, when in your situation an offensive position would be better." The fusion shook her head with a look of total astonishment on her face. "SHUT UP!!!" She pressed two of her hands to the side of her head and looked at the ground with a worried expression. She tried a breathing ritual to calm herself but only made it worse, she was panicking, but not because of her current situation, she seemed to be remembering something. Before to long, small sparks of electricity could be seen shooting from the fusions form, and the sparks only got more intense from there. She pressed her other two hands to her sides and began to pace circles as the sparks around her intensified even further.
Being on edge, it was easy for the bodyguard to continue taking offense to what the fusion said, but her expression withdrew into one of puzzlement as she tried to figure out the sudden change her opponent had undertaken. As sparks flew around her adversary, 6UE took a tentative step back, brows furrowing more deeply.
Padparadscha was concerned with what she saw too; her eyes flickered across the scene, and she looked back up to her amethyst guardian. She threw up a hand signal, telling Amethyst what her next orders were. The soldier's steps backward were now more deliberate and tactical, until she stepped over the line of the perimeter that the sapphire had created. For now, the sapphire would test the situation. She remained quiet as she thought of what her next move would be. Her sense for the amount of free electrons in the air began to buzz, it seemed this was some facet of the fusion's ability. But, did the fusion know how to control it?
Would further speaking provoke the enemy? Would she be able to get them to separate? Was that even ideal for this endeavor? Her eyes followed the circle the fusion paced along. Then, after sufficiently building up her energy, pillars began to rise around the entire structure, shooting straight up into the air. "That's not a very couth thing to say to a sapphire. Not that I'd expect better from rebels," The small gem muttered, with a bit of a sarcastic tinge,"But, I'll take it as my answer-- the hard way it is,"

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’.
