It was a usual day at the Forge, with Para working in the main room over the anvil with all sorts of random things around her. Currently it seemed she was idly repairing a collection of various gear, all bearing the marks of combat. It was always mixed feelings getting her work back like this. On the one hand, she was glad it was doing its job. On the the other hand, she hated to see her perfect works of art damaged in such a way. Such was the trade though, unlike murals and tapestries, weapons and armor tend to gather wear and tear quickly.
As was almost always the case when Para was around and at work, the door was wide open for visitors and customers. It was a policy she was always unsure about, most times it seemed to usually just draw onlookers and visitors who have no intentions of making trades... But at least it often served as a nice distraction from her work, especially since she found so little time to socialize as is.
The situation calmed down a bit. The Earth wasn't under any Homeworld attack and Broken Gems seemed to vanish. It has been months since someone actually interrupted Light or Para. They could work in peace at last.
Lady Para always preffered to keep the main door opened. Light always thought that it is because of the view. Althouht Pearl didn't think it was actually that pretty. But at least they always had more air in the room. He just had to remember to always keep the door to his gem room closed. Otherwise his pet cockatiel would fly away from the Forge.
Light's gem was making a holographic projection of gear that Para was working on. That way she was able to see how it looked at the start, before it got damaged. He was also organizing the space. He placed all parts in the right order so it would be easier for Para to see everything. But Light wasn't actually sure if it was helping Para in any way. Maybe it was causing a bigger chaos... but Light thought that it looks more tidy.
The investigator paced just below the steps, a tall Jasper standing at attention against the wall of stone. "You'll remain here until I call for your aid. If all goes to plan, I shouldn't be needing your intervention. This isn't a bust, merely confirming the informant's testimony," She whispered to her bodyguard, muting her tone so that it wouldn't echo over the cavernous terrain. The jasper gave a nod, remaining at attention as the sapphire prepared her disguise; it would do no good to walk into a possible enemy hub covered in the mark of her Diamond, so as much as it pained her to do it, she shifted, allowing the insignia of her beloved Pink Diamond to disappear from her field jumpsuit.
After the minor changes were made, Padparadscha began her way up the steps, delicate hands clasped behind her back. The quiet tap of her petite feet would bounce from the stone, and into the forge as she made her approach, until the silhouette of the small aristocratic detective stood against the light pouring in from the clear, midday sky. The radiating heat of the forge didn't bother her, but it was a marked change from the outside climate.
Her large, perceptive eyes swept over the forge, and snagged onto it's two inhabitants immediately. Her eyes momentarily slid to scope out the rest of the room-- but then she double-took, realizing the gem hard at work in the center of this facility was another aristocrat; a sapphire, but not just any sapphire. Her eyes widened, her lips fell agape; instinctively she knew this was a Padparadscha, but this one was unlike the 8 series sister's that Padparadscha 8QE had been familiar with for the majority of her life. She of course realized there were prototypes before and after the 8 series, but padparadscha sapphire was such a rare model of gem that 8QE never imagined that she would go back to using her cut as her label.
She could hardly pull herself out of shock. Surely an aristocrat, a Padparadscha no less, wouldn't associate with basal criminals like the Crystal Gems? Aside, this pearl must've been just as dedicated and advanced as 8QE's own Pink Pearl. Like his mistress, the pearl seemed utterly unique, she'd never seen one quite like him. Her informant must've been mistaken..."Ah, I do beg your pardon," The loyalist gem managed to wrestle down her shock, and spoke in her brisk, professional tone,"You look rather busy, madam," Busy with something she hadn't thought of as an aristocrat's work before, but the regal detective had no place to talk in that regard,"Are you taking visitors? I have a few questions,"

Para didn't look up from her work initially, "I am always busy, but we also always take guests. Are these questions for a request or are you simply lost and confused." She reached out and grabbed a weapon graciously organized by Light, "Thank you dear."
Her tone and stance indeed reflected a position of nobility, but as her hands moved around the blade it became clear she held skills unusual to most Padparadschas. While one hand held the blade the other waved near the sharp end, the gemstone glowing as it released things streams of light onto it. While the work was not glamorous, the motions was almost like a dance around the weapon. As the wispy tendrils of light made contact with the edge they solidified, leaving an almost glowing line that replaced the chipped blade.
Setting the newly fixed weapon aside she finally looked up, her expression showing her shock but what also almost seemed to be a hint of fear that quickly faded, "Oh! This is uh..." quickly she fixed her hair and clothes, "...quite the surprise. It is not every day I meet another Padparadscha. Actually, I have not talked with another of my gem for months! You may call me Para, and this is my trusted assistant Light. What may we call you...?"
Light looked at the entrance to see who came. It has been a long time since anyone came here... and he didn't recognize the voice. Pearl spotted a gem, but not just a normal gem. Her color pallet looked just like the one Lady Para had. But her form and gem cut were slightly different. But could it be? Was she perhaps a Padparadscha Sapphire? Pearl looked a little bit confused. He looked at the visitor and than at Lady Para to check if he was correct "Uhhhh..." He looked at the new face again, they indeed looked similar. Light was looking at her with open mouth, you could see he wasn't sure what was happening right now.
"No problem." He responded to Para while still looking confused at the visitor.
There was no way Light could do something more for Para. He tried to act like he doesn't see another Sapphire by looking around the room. He probably just didn't want to look too silly. After a while Para was done though. Light got rid of the hologram he summoned for Para in order to help her. She also seemed rather shocked, not a suprise. He turned to the guest when Para mentioned him. He was going to wave his hand, but it would be unprofesional. So he did nothing instead.
Poised at the entrance as the other aristocrat spoke, her eyes followed the movements of Para's craft, and the precision with which she worked. The pearl seemed to be in the flow of his own work, attentively responding to his mistress's needs. However, for the moment she didn't allow herself to linger in appreciation of the other gems' process of creation, as mesmerizing as the movement of light was.
There were numerous parts of this exchange that piqued her suspicions immediately; the tendency of gems on Earth to take pseudonyms was not necessarily bound to rebels, but Padparadscha had taken notice of their penchant for it. On top of that, was the fact that the typical loyalist salutations were not given-- she of course still wouldn't allow herself to jump to conclusions based on such an observation, but her eyes kept prodding the scene for clues. Not wanting to give herself away, she stuffed down the impulse to answer with a Diamond salute, along with her typical preamble of titles, facet and cut.
The detective didn't answer immediately as her feet crossed the threshold into this space, and she now allowed her eyes to wander around, taking in the sight as she tried to think of some pseudonym she could take for herself. Other gems had called her all manner of things, shortening her label or making acronyms out of it, but she had never applied thought to the matter herself; it was simply a label. Ultimately, she came from it uninspired, and decided to take the risk to use her cut.
"Likewise. I haven't seen another padparadscha since my early days. Back then I was called 8QE..." The words helped her recall her time back on Homeworld, though it wasn't necessarily pleasant,"This is quite the facility, Madam Para," She didn't stop her leisurely pacing as she spoke, and moved around the room, analyzing what she saw in real-time,"I realize this is a forge-- but what is it that one could request here? Armaments, I presume...but there is artistic license here, no?" She took on a musing tone, thinking aloud. The corners of her lips lifted ever so lightly, her eyes rounded onto the two gems, and flickered between the two as she came to a stop,"I'd like to see what you have to offer,"

She smiled, though it wasn't exactly a radiant friendly one. More of a cordial polite grin, one of a diplomat listening calmly to a stranger they hadn't made their mind up on. While Para waited in silence her eyes each scanned the newcomer up and down, trying to get a bead on them.
The Forge itself was clearly a place that had been inhabited for quite some time. Against the walls are a number of weapons, shields, and armor that were waiting on various stands and posts that showed each item off in full detail. Similarly, hanging from the ceiling was a few unfinished projects. Two doors led off in separate directions to side, with open barrels of materials were visible near the doorways.
Towards the back of the room was the flowing lava-fall, where just behind it on the wall was an obscured misshapen crystal. It appeared to be a power source stripped from an old era of ship, likely a colony vessel. A number of faintly glowing lines extended out from it and towards a number of smaller crystals, resembling early-era defense lasers likely from the same ship.
"It is a pleasure to meet you 8QE," the use of their cut was a little odd, but not unheard of with non-loyalists, "and thank you. This location was a bit more rudimentary when I first arrived, but since then has been upgraded by my hand. With Light's help of course."
The following inquiries were equally odd, though she was not terrible concerned with their motives. Despite her curiosity Para's smile never dropped, "As an older model of padparascha, I do have an affinity for artistic en-devours. But yes, the main items requested here are weapons. We do have the occasional piece of armor too, but those are much rarer."
Her cordial smile lifted slightly at the final request, "Well, we of course have what is on the floor but that is just the simple designs we have ready for trade. I am much more than a simple blacksmith however, perhaps you could demonstrate with your new weapon modification Light?"
Light was suprised when Para mentioned him "It is nothing special, you did a more impressive job here."
It appeared that the Sapphire was interested in what Para was creating with Light's help. He still felt kind of suspicious, he always had problem with trusting other gems at first. But it was probably foolish, after all Para sewmed to act just fine. She probably knew what she was doing.
Para than asked Light to show his gem weapon that has been upgraded some time ago, he simply noded. Pearl's round gem started to glow and an object made out of white light appeared infront of him. After a while it was fully summoned and gems could see its colors and parts. It looked like a wooden like stick with a wing symbol on each end. One seemd to be a little bit bigger than the other one. Light grabbed it and spoke "My gem item wasn't originally designed for combat. It is a simple stick, easy to summon and easy to upgrade. Becasue of that it can be used for differe tasks. Lady Para edided one end to be able to summon lasers. It can be used to cut thin metal or in the worst case scenario for defence."
Pearl showed the biger wing and pointed at the hole in it, the place where the lasers were coming from. He than turned to the metal plate which was lying on the ground. It was about to get melted and used for something else. He pointed out his weapon at the metal. Soon after that he summoned a laser which than cut the metal, leaving it with a hole perfectly in the middle. "This can come in handy while working at something, but may fail while using it on something bigger. For example I don't think it would wise to use it to make a hole in a ship. It would take a lot of time and the tool itself could overheat."
He than summoned a holographic projection from his gem. It looked like a big person with long hair, probably a quartz soldier. "Like I mentioned it can be used for combat." He shot a hologram with a "bullet" like laser. The projection glitched, but stayed untouched "The single shot will just sting the opponent. However, this should give enough time to escape or figure out a new strategy." He waited for a while "And..." He shot the projection one more time, this time destroying it "Several shots should be enough to detroy a physical form of a gem. My holograms are made out of light like our bodies, but are not as sturdy thought." He than unsummoned the weapon.
(I made a fast sketch to show how the weapon looks like so it would be easier to imagine it.)
She stifled the impulse to frown at the sight of the salvaged Homeworld tech being used, presumably, to power this facility. She couldn't yet say whether this piece was stolen, or if this other sapphire was just very resourceful. Her reluctance to think that an aristocrat would smear their honor by defecting from the Authority helped her keep her composure. It would be highly suspicious for her to pull up her evidence reel at the moment, so she kept mental note of it as well as her many other important observations she made about the layout of the forge.
The sapphire instead gave a warm smile and nodded lightly as her fellow padparadscha spoke. She felt it indubitable that a sapphire would bring her own finesse into the forge, she seemed to have a unique way of approaching the craft. Though, 8QE herself had never stepped foot in any other sort of forge, so she didn't have much to compare her experience with; surely this was unlike any other smithing she'd seen, however, that much was certain when the pearl began his demonstration.
A brow quirked as the pearl explained. Despite his declaration that he wasn't made for combat, he seemed proficient with this weapon; she watched carefully, and flinched a bit as the laser was fired. Then, as he brought up his hologram of a soldier, talking of combat against other gems, discomfort twisted in her midriff. Her next flinch was more noticeable as the shot pierced through the projection, and her eyes cast to the side momentarily as she gathered herself. She pushed a loose strand of hair back into place as she tried to keep up her composure, her eyes staying on the weapon until it dissipated from view, "Impressive, indeed-- I've never seen modifications to hard-light weaponry before, much less to this degree. Beautiful design, multi-functional as well..." Her eyes flicked up to meet Light's, then slid to Para. Her sharp gaze settled onto the other sapphire as her voice carried more heft,"Marvelous work. It's...unfortunate, however, what these weapons must be used for. These are troubled times, as I'm sure you're both well aware..." She gave a heavy sigh, trying to take her mind off of the shadows of combat that had pressed themselves into her memory; it didn't seem to get easier for her, no matter how many times she was whisked into a violent situation.
Her lips pressed together, and she flicked her wrist out. In a shimmering myriad of pink, orange, and red hues, a double edged katar manifested itself into her grip; its opulent design glittered in the light of the forge, the keen blade catching light along with the runic handle, decorated with the impressions of lotus flowers. Her eyes shifted to the pearl,"I wasn't exactly designed for combat either, yet this came to be a manifestation from my gem. Interesting how these things happen," Then she set the ostentatious dagger onto Para's work surface,"Do you suppose modification could be made to a weapon of this sort? Safety is always my priority, but there are times when one must stand up for herself, no?"

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’.
