Blue grinned back at the homeworld gems as her and Opalite spun and danced their way through the shifting stones. Their forms began to let off a soft glow, the two didn't realize it as they had gotten so caught up in the music, they had closed their eyes. The music changed as it echoed through the cave, it was more elegant, the two transitioned with it into an elegant slow dance they moved through the room of stones as if it was a ball room in time with the beautiful music.
The two finally reached the end with about a minute left on the song to spare, only then did they realize they were glowing, it had gotten brighter over the course of the dance. The two of them only stared into each other's eyes for the final minute. Blue smiled and broke the silence. "When are you gonna stop making me love you?" At this, Opalite's cheeks flushed with a darker blue as she looked away, the glowing faded away. "Not until I shatter..." Opalite responded, Blue grinned. "Then that would be never." Blue chuckled as the two drifted apart, looking around for their next clue.
Padparadscha narrowed her eye as she realized the two rebel gems seemed to be on their way to fusion; she determined it wouldn't be advantageous to be huge in this cramped space, and there weren't enemies to fight just yet, but as the rebels exited the trap it seemed they had come to a similar conclusion.
She stepped out of the hazardous trap without a scratch, closely followed by 3JJ who had taken a nick on the shoulder or two, but she quickly brushed it off. However, as soon as the gems had all stepped into the room awaiting them, the mobile stones that had made up the rhythmic trap suddenly swooped toward the gems, and stopped at the edge of what had become a makeshift dance-floor, forming a solid wall with a resounding clash of stone against stone-- closing off any escape the four had from this cave. The sapphire whirled and stared with her eyes and mouth agape at the wall that had been formed.
The bodyguard sneered; she hadn't trusted the rebels, and found it fitting to blame them for this. The two had after all lead them into this trap,"Great! Trapped in a box!" 3JJ growled, as she backed up to make a charge at the wall.
The sapphire put up her hand as if to heel the jasper before she could go beating on the wall, and glanced around the seemingly doorless box the gems had been trapped in,"There's a way through," She then glanced back toward Opalite and Blue,"The architects who designed this place must have embedded this as an extra security measure. The technicians who were allowed in would have a key," The sapphire pulled her peachy bubble forward, popped it, and removed the prism from its encasement,"These prisms are the most probable keys. We just need to figure out how the keys will work to open our way," Padparadscha looked particularly at Opalite, and thought back to the glowing of the gems as they danced, as well as how the prisms had been used up to this point,"Perhaps the solution is more light?" She asked the ex adviser, seeming to be too in the zone to be disgruntled that this was a rebel she was working with.
Opalite ran her hands along the walls, she found many clean cuts that weren't the shape of the cubes. The were slanted, almost as if someone had cut their way out. She shook he head. "I don't think so." She said and traced the gashes with her fingers. "We need to cut on these lines but, Blue an Jasper can barely reach the top corners, so, there's something we're missing here." Opalite sneered at the cubes as Blue had gone ahead and began trying to slash the cubes apart on the lines, but they didn't budge.
"I don't get it, I should be able to do this, isn't this what I'm supposed to be doing!?" Blue was angry, and it was never good when she was angry, especially in a pent up room such as the one they were in. Blue began pacing and grumbling eventually coming to a halt and slamming her fist into the wall, it cracked, but the cracks reformed into the solid stone shortly after. Opalite flew over, face to face with Blue, the two staring at each other in silence. Blue's shoulders could be seen relaxing. "Right, I know, anger." Opalite nodded and slowly floateddown to the floor, Blue's eyes following her the whole way.
As Opalite inspected the wall and spoke, Padparadscha pursed her lips and stepped up to glare at the markings as well. Her thin brows furrowed, she wasn't sure what to make of them, it seemed odd in a place like this. She stewed on the implications of the marks silently for a moment.
When Blue slammed the wall, the sapphire jumped,"Yuh!" She yelped, shoulder's hiked in alarm as her widened eyes shot over to the massive soldier gem. 3JJ's eyes flicked down to her patron sapphire, who seemed to be a little jumpy right now, but the jasper wasn't sure what to do about it. Her eyes flicked away, and she waited for the other gems to figure it out, crossing her arms and shifting her weight back on one hip.
Padparadscha's eyes lingered on the enraged rebel, before Opalite helped her calm down. But one of her brows arched when she saw the damage that had been inflicted to the wall heal itself. She tapped her chin, and let out a huff,"Perhaps my first guess was over thought. It seems no technicians were expected to get through here-- rather the original constructors wanted to guard this place against anyone. The self-healing technology of these walls has a limit, however, given these scars never healed," She ran her fingers along some of the groves, and tapped the solid stone with her knuckles, then stepped back. With a shrug, her eyes lingered across the other gems in the room,"We need to blast through with enough force to create an opening for us to get through, before the stone reforms. I admit that will be difficult, there could be another way..." It would be tricky, she wasn't sure how the group was going to go about that.
"So we just gotta punch the wall really hard, that I can do," Jasper chuckled, and gave a half-cocked smirk, then eyed the other soldier.
Blue gave a scoff and crossed her arms in front of her chest. "Even I know that's not the best way out." Blue said and shook her head. "Normally, I'm ll for punching my way out of a situation, but punching through blocks of granite that are all six feet thick, ain't gonna happen, we need something better than pure brute force." At this, Opalite looked up at Blue and nodded after a few minutes of contemplation.
"If we focus enough power on one spot, we can get out." Opalite said and walked over to one of the blocks, placing a hand on it. She grinned, the lightning bolt she absorbed earlier could be seen in flowing electricity around her form. This cloud of sparks reached a high contentration soon as it traveled down her arm and into a ball in her hand. She brought her hand back, at this moment, Blue dove into a spin dash as Opalite brought her hand into the wall, making sure all of their combined power was put into smashing through the block of granite. After a few seconds, they were through and into a large room that had a large pool of glowing water in the center.
Padparadscha pressed her lips together at Blue's words; the last thing she needed was for any more conflict than had already stewed to begin etching itself into this situation, and it seemed the soldiers were getting along less well than she and the ex-adviser were. There would certainly be quite enough conflict once the object was reached, and their true objective could be completely; keeping this device out of the opportunistic hands of outlaws like the two gems that were with them.
"Tch," 3JJ crossed her arms and rolled her eyes,"Left your sense of humor back on your abandoned post, eh?" She grumbled, and the sapphire shot her a glare. The jasper shrugged, and both loyalists simply looked on as Blue and Opalite combined their abilities to blast down the wall.
"Well!" Padparadscha huffed, trying to clear the air as she hurried through the opening, with 3JJ taking a few short strides behind her,"That was much easier than I thought it'd be," She gave a smile, and clasped her hands as she glanced back at the wall-- it began to rebuild itself, small pieces animated themselves and seemed to be pulled by some invisible force, slowly rebuilding the enormous hole in the wall that Blue and Opalite had created. The sapphire began to skirt the room, it's focal point obviously the pool of luminescent liquid, but there could be other facets, or even traps to keep on the lookout for. Though, she didn't immediately spot anything, and rubbed her chin as she walked up to the edge of the pool, then peered down into it. It was hard to tell if it was the liquid itself that was glowing, if there was some manner of bioluminesent organic creature in it, or if there was something else.
For the sake of safety, she decided to give it a test. She conjured a bit of plasma, and began to shape it until it looked a bit like a ladle. The makeshift ladle was allowed to cool down, and harden into tangible mass, before it fell to the ground with a light tap. Padparadscha picked it up, and dipped the cup end into the water to gather some of it, and to answer her question about what might be going on here. If the liquid continued to glow when it was in her cup, that would mean this was likely not water; the implications would be endless.
Opalite watched the sapphire, curious as to what the liquid might be, she tilted her head as the liquid remained glowing in the ladle, then it suddenly flashed and lurched out of the ladle and into the pool again, leaving not a single drop in the small cup. Opalite was baffled by this, which was a shock seeing as how she could often figure things out quite well. "What the...?" She knelt down next to the pool and squinted at the liquid, it suddenly splashed up, forming into the shape of a hand, Opalite jumped back, her wings unfurled in surprise. "That is sentient."
Blue blinked at the animate liquid. "What kind of fresh hell is this?" Blue spoke, throwing around some of the humans' slang, she had been on earth to long, as she was able to use the term correctly. Opalite took a cautious step forward as the hand made of the glowing liquid hadn't receded yet. She reached a hand out and placed her's on the outstretched hand. It wrapped it's fingers around hers, the water began to shift in color to match Opalite's gem. Three other hands shot from the water, outstretched in the other three gem's directions.
Blue stepped forward, placing her hand on the liquid hand that was outstretched in her direction. The water turned to match Blue's gem before shortly fading back into it's original color. The other two free hands remained outstretched in the homeworld gems direction's.
The sapphire's expression contorted with horror as the liquid slipped away from her makeshift ladle, which fell from her hands and clinked on the floor. The detective scurried away from the pool, her body buzzed with adrenaline as they all came to the realization that this liquid was animate, and possibly sentient. When a watery, glowing appendage emerged, she gasped, reeling back even further from the strange vat of liquid. 3JJ's brows were deeply furrowed, she tapped the gem set into her forehead and her baton emerged in a glimmer of orange light, ready to bludgeon any aquatic attacker that might come her way. The jasper rushed to put herself between the pool and her patron aristocrat.
"We don't know what in the name of the Diamonds is going on here! D-don't touch it!" She began to panic as Opalite reached for it, and Blue as well. Nothing immediate but the flash of light occurred, nonetheless there was a churning in her midriff that told her it wasn't a good idea to answer these beckoning limbs. The arms that laid in wait patiently for the loyalists to take were simply still for a moment.
She watched the hands with her eyes focused on the pool, waiting for something to happen. The sapphire decided to test it,"Stay on your toes," She mumbled, eyeing the rebels, then began to side-step along the edge of the room, not taking her eyes off of the hands that were pointed in her direction. 3JJ followed closely, her focus honed in on the pool. As the two of them tested the strange, sentient-seeming liquid, it followed them as if it were watching. The sensation sent shivers down her spine.
"Come on, don't you think that if it wanted to harm us, it would have done so by now?" Blue was getting impatient, she wanted to find the artifact as soon as possible. Opalite couldn't do anything but nod in agreement. "Blue has a point there." Opalite said, this put a grin on Blue's face. Opalite then looked at Blue. "But it would be nice for you to work in your anger and impatience." Blue blinked before she nodded and jst stared into the pool, she looked away not to long after, getting the feeling it was looking back. "This is starting to freak me out..." She said, Opalite nodded again.
The pool began to ripple and shape into something that stood up, leaving an empty tub in which it stood, it formed into... a gem, but, she was taller than everyone else, and she had four arms, two of which were outstretched and holding Opalite and Blue's hands. The other two remained in waiting for the homeworld gems to take her hands. She gave a soft, reassuring smile to each of them, but did not speak.
Padparadscha was not reassured; her eyes widened when she realized this pool could take an entire shape, the implications were horrifying in light of some of her past experiences. She backed up until she hit the wall not taking her eyes off of the creature, whatever it was. It had to be some sort of trap, but for now the rebel gems and the loyalists too seemed to be free of any noticeable assault. Her eyes flickered around the whole room.
3JJ sneered at the gem who'd taken shape from the water, tightly gripping her weapon as Padparadscha nervously spoke aloud,"There's got to be another way through here, there's something going on," The sapphire's eyes continued darting around the room,"But..." Her fists clenched. She didn't like just going along with this, but the group would be stuck here until a decision was made; with a huff, she marched forward, and created a small tag of plasma. She tossed it onto the ground, then turned toward the watery gem who had been waiting for her and the Jasper to take her hand. Padparadscha's small hand reached out, and laced into the fingers of this strange guardian, then as the pool flashed a bright peachy-pink, 3JJ took on her own horrified expression at the notion that she too would have to commit herself to making this reckless decision. The Jasper stepped forward, graceless grabbed the aquatic gem's hand, but kept her eyes moving, on the lookout for danger as the pool glowed a creamy orange.
The tall gem closed her eyes for a second before they shot open, she looked at Blue and Opalite with a sympathetic expression, she turned to look at Jasper, a saddened expression was on her face, her gems began to glow, first the one on her stomach, then the one on her shoulder. The one on her shoulder projected what looked like a replica of Jasper and Paddy, the other projecting what looked like Blue and Opalite. And both gems projected two holograms that came together to show the base shape of the artifact.
On the left of the artifact hologram, the projected Blue and Opalite came together in a fusion and summoned their scythe, while on the right the other two watch in anger and annoyance as the fusion flew up and out of view, before the hologram in the middle showed a thin, yet large hand. Opalite watched in awe at these holograms before the aquatic gem began to turn back into water, sloshing back into the pool and not moving afterwards. "We're gonna need to fuse to get the artifact?" Blue asked as the floor lit up with glowing markings, the walls doing the same and parting on the wall opposite to which they entered from.
Opalite began to walk towards the opening, it opened into a much larger room with glowing markings, all going up into the ceiling, centered around a small circle a few hundred yards above them, it was the artifact, embedded into the ceiling, and fusing would be the only way to get it out of the tough stone.
There was interpretive leeway with the holographic communication. At first the sapphire wasn't quite sure what to make of what it was saying, it of course seemed to predict or wish for fusion to occur. However, Padparadscha was strictly against the idea of her fusing with her professional bodyguard, for various reasons.
3JJ's brows pushed together as her lips drew down in distaste. She hadn't followed the projection very well, but she did't need to. She'd taken on this job to protect a sapphire who could be a particularly difficult charge, and had promised her senior officer that she would-- at all costs-- make sure no harm came to the aristocratic gem. Padparadscha was too far above her for 3JJ to even consider fusion; not only was it immoral, but she thoroughly believed it to be unnecessary. Opalite too seemed to be a higher echelon gem, and one not meant for battle. There was only one gem in this room who was even close to being a viable candidate for fusion in a situation like this.
"Fusion is a weapon," Jasper stated plainly, and she swiveled to face the other soldier in the room,"A tool for war, for leverage," Padparadscha tilted her head toward 3JJ, brows floating upward. She'd never heard 3JJ's opinion of fusion, so it was interesting for her to hear. "It'd be impractical to make non-combat gems fuse for whatever this trap has in store. If we're going to do what it wants, we've got to have the element of surprise somewhere, right?"
The sapphire wasn't sure she'd ever heard 3JJ talk that much consecutively, but she had a feeling that Blue Goldstone would have a different view of things, especially considering her deviant history. She couldn't fault the warrior and the adviser too deeply without faulting other gems she knew who had also tried cross-gem fusion, but there was a mission to think about,"The projection seemed to have something quite specific in mind, you may have a point, but we should proceed cautiously," In fact, through the sapphire's deductions, it seemed to be predicting that the rebels would again elude capture at the loyalist's expense,"We're still not sure what exactly will happen,"
Blue blinked and waited for the homeworld gems to finish speaking. She shook her head. "It's so much more than that." Blue, for once, spoke softly. "It allows more power, yes, but without a clear head and a proper understanding with your partner, you'll split before you can make a difference." She said and held her hand out to Opalite, who took it without hesitation. The two began dancing and looking into each other's eyes. "It's a bond... A feeling... A conversation..." Their gems began to glow.
Their bodies turned into shapeless blobs of light before mixing together, they stood together as a single form, stretching their four arms. "A relationship." The fusion said and looked at the other two. "A feeling unrivaled by any other." She grinned and spread her wings. She gave a hard flap and launched herself up. She came to the Gem artifact embedded in the ceiling. A sharp gasp came from the fusion as she got a look at the artifact. "It's impossible, there's no way!" She reached forward and put in a lot of force to pry the artifact from the stone, finally it came out. She flew down and stared at the artifact, an orange gem was at it's center, it was speckled with white... like Blue's gem. "I was told she was shattered..." The fusion looked sad, and angry, and somewhat glad. "Orange..." Her fingers wrapped around the gem in the artifact as best they could, she gave a yank, pulling the gem from it's set place. It began to glow and take shape. Finally, a gem stood there before falling to her knees, she was bigger than Blue and had dark hair that was speckled like Blue's. This orange gem, was a different variation of goldstone.
As the fusion was formed, Padparadscha clenched her teeth and 3JJ watched with a horrified expression as the newly formed gem leaped up to grab the artifact. The sapphire swiveled to look at Jasper, and they gave each other a curt nod. There was no way she'd let those gems escape with that artifact in-tact. Padparadscha dashed into action, toward the way they'd all come from, and Jasper covered her, both gems keeping an eye on the fusion as they prepared their own trap for the rebels.
Then, unexpectedly, the fusion destroyed the artifact-- Padparadscha's mouth fell open. However, when she saw the emotional response of the fusion, and realized they had released the gem within the artifact's center, the sapphire saw that something else really was going on here. With the captured gem released, she could only assume that this strange orange gem would side with her rescuers, but there was a chance the gem would come back home to the moonbase, if she played her cards right.
"What now?" Jasper asked in a low tone. The sapphire wanted to ask the same question, but glanced at her bodyguard with a determined expression.
"The objective has changed. This is a 2350 situation," Padpara whispered back, then clasped her hands. It seemed an emotional reunion were about to unfold. 3JJ raised a brow, recognizing the coded message, and took a defensive stance, but let her weapon disappear. The sapphire stepped forward, ready to introduce herself when the time came, but for now the loyalists kept an eye on things.
The large orange gem sat there for a few seconds. Her eyes were closed, she was quiet. She suddenly stood up quickly, eyes wide and angry, her weapon had been summoned, a large spiked gauntlet. She looked around. "You're not peridots..." She said and looked up at the fusion. "Woah..." She said, suddenly the fusion enveloped the orange warrior in her four arms. "I thought you were shattered!" The fusion said, happy tears trailed down her face.
"Um... who are you?" The orange goldstone asked. The fusion stepped back, they unfused, standing in front of the tall warrior. Blue grinned at her, Orange grinned back and stepped forward to meet Blue in a big hug. "Hey, Runt!" Orange said. This got a happy grumble out of Blue. Orange stepped back and looked Blue over. She grinned. "Told ya,you'd follow me." Blue punched he taller gem's shoulder.
"Shut up!" She said. "Sure, I missed you, but that's not why I came to earth." Blue said, she looked at Orange like an older sister, or so the humans called it. "Oh yeah? Why then?" Orange replied. Blue stepped out of the way and gestured to Opalite. "Her." She said, Orange just grinned. "Protecting those you love, I'm proud." Blue smiled, she was glad to have mad the taller solider proud. Orange turned to look at the other two gems and grinned. She approached the jasper first, easily towering over her. "A perfect jasper, I would love to see the full extent to your abilities." She said and approached Paddy next. "And a padparadscha sapphire. Rare, elegant, beautiful." Orange commented on the qualities of the homeworlders and not their flaws.

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’.
