Name:
Serendibite
Appeared Gender:
Male
Appeared Age: 23
Gemstone: Serendibite
Gemstone Location: Right Eye
Faction: Homeworld (White Diamond)
Corrupted:(Y/N) No corruption
Personality: Serendibite is known for his quiet nature, not the type to take to talking to often. However, he is an avid listener, to the point where he has gotten in trouble with superiors for eavesdropping. In combat he is cold, calculating and swift. He is known to ponder, when asked serious questions. Especially moral ones. As little as others understand about him, he does try to be open when asked questions - but due to his quiet nature, it is difficult to get little more out of him than nods or shakes of the head. One of the things that give away how he is feeling, is how the lights in his eye are positioned. If they are scattered, he is in a normal state, if they are close to the center of his eye, he is focused. If they are in a vertical line, he is aiming to destroy something. If they are swirling around his iris, he is thinking hard about something. If they are in a diagonal line, he is confused. One of the rarest of the light positions, if they are lined up underneath his pupil, he is in pain that he cannot stand up for long. If they, however, are lined up over the pupil - then he is happy.
He is not without his flaws, however. Serendibite is known for his stealth, and leaving problems where he goes. Some of these problems are more severe than others, and sometimes not apparent right away. Be it psychological damage to another gem, or even a gems 'disappearance', if Serendibite was nearby at a point, he is likely to blame. His silent and calculating nature often has him taking very safe actions, which has made him stray very far away from risks. Anything that is uncertain in outcome, he avoids. Especially combat. He prefers to have objectives set before him, and given time to carry them out. This has caused him to be heavily reliant on the influence of the diamonds. He is not prone to allowing his orders to be unfinished as well, this has kept him in very good standing and has caught the eye of the more difficult to handle job prospects that are available to him.

Fears:
Weapon: Chainblade. A blade, that is handled out and has a chain fastened to it, very fast paced and easy to maneuver around the body.
Ability 1: "Phasing step": Serendibite is able to make a single individual see strange things, such as seeing Serendibite moving to places where he hasn't moved. Or in places he isn't. Or even multiples of him. However, he is only able to maintain this ability if he is able to stay in a constant state of movement after triggering the ability in the first place. The ability is triggered by maintaining direct eye contact with Serendibite for an extended duration (he does not need to be looking at the target, but does need to know of their presence). This is the ability he uses primarily, as it drains the smallest amount of energy from him.
Ability 2:
"Opening the mind": Serendibite forces any memories a gem or organic has that involves fear or highly stressful moments and puts entities from those moments foremost in the mind of his target. This can cause dysphoria in such a way that it makes these memories take form in the present place or situation. Granted, these are all in the eye of the Gem/Organic that is affected by the power and in no means projects real entities. Serendibite is able to see these entities, and even the memories themselves that they are pulled from and can manipulate them at will. A strong mind, or an individual who is able to tear themself away from the power by understanding the falsity, will negate the power and cannot be affected by it again. Any gem that has powers such as "Future Sight" or a form of it (such as padparadscha from SU canon) is immediately immune to the ability. Inclusively, any gem that has other powers that manipulate the mind of a gem are immune. However, this ability also protects his own mind from manipulation.
History: Serendibite was fashioned in a lab of sorts, at first he was supposed to be a form of gemtech. He wasn't supposed to come to life. He was initially going to be a neural dampener for other gems, to make unruly ones and prisoners easier to pacify. However, that changed when he woke up. When he came forward, everyone that came in contact with him almost went completely insane. He had no idea that he was the cause, but he knew that it was his job to stop the madness that others were going through. This led to him making gems 'disappear'. After a while, he learned the history of the gems that he had affected and deduced his own existence was to blame. He had thought of taking his own life, but was stopped by a gem scientist. This scientist was shrouded in mystery, besides a large brown colored exterior, serendibite couldn't really make out much else. This individual helped him learn to control the energies he let out and he went into service for white diamond. Quickly rising among the ranks due to his power, he was later left a free agent. However, as effective as he was, he wasn't a breach and clear specialist. He was meant to force a specific gem to be completely null. Driving them mad with paranoia and rounding fears.
He was very good at this until he was tasked with targeting a sapphire. His mental power had no effect on her, no matter how much energy he expended. This caused a very awkward staring contest with said sapphire. Eventually he grew irritable, he summoned his weapon for the first time. A chainblade. He seemed to have a knack for combat, as he used the capoeira fighting style in tangent with his weapon in order to subdue and 'pacify' said sapphire. Granted, no one but him and his superiors knew of the targets he was given. And he never thought to question what they had done to incur the wrath of white diamond. He has assumed what he was doing is right and just. Through his travels he has come in contact with all kinds of different gems, mostly informants. But one in particular had always bothered him, a ruby. This ruby always tried to get him to talk to her, and, as an informant herself, he had no choice but to appease her in order to get the information he wanted. He despised this factor of being forced to do something he did not want to do in order to get something he needed. He had tolerated it enough, but luck found him one day as he was being sent to a planet called "earth" apparently, he was needed in order to get Homeworld Gems out of a particularly tight spot with hostile combatants in the area. He was sent due to his mental aptitude, and his superiors hoped that by sending him they could pacify High Value Targets, and rescue their own. Killing two birds with one stone in a way.
Character Arcs:
1. Have Serendibite conquer his social anxiety which he has yet to truly understand that he has.
2. Have Serendibite fully dive into his mental manipulation powers and push them to their limits.
3. Actually make a friend(s)?
4. Have a general understanding of what it is he is being requested to do and coming to terms with it, or switching sides to join the rebellion at a future date, depending on Roleplay interactions.
