Ruby looked slightly shocked and just about opened her mouth to say something, but she closed it and smiled some. "I guess you're right. We haven't run into a really bad Crystal Gem yet. We shouldn't worry about it until we do." She stuck her hands under her head like Lapis did.
"...so um, should we just do that now? Or did you have more questions to ask me? Not that you can't ask me about anything at any time - I want to be as open as possible with you, really!" Ruby said sincerely, looking over to Lapis to watch her expression closely. "But otherwise, I'm also excited to go train - and maybe even run into a new Crystal Gem?"
Lapis' expression didn't really seem to change emotionally now. She seem too preoccupied with trying to decide whether she had any additional questions for Ruby. Bringing her out here to talk seemed so important at the time, but now she found it so hard to consider whether she had finished speaking to her now that plans of going to the crystal temple and eventually training with Ruby filled her mind. "...We could do it now. We've never ever trained together and I think... we might need to if we're going to start chasing down corrupted gems. When I felt myself starting to poof after we got attacked, I was worried about what would happen to you when I was gone. I don't want to poof again, if I can help it."
When Lapis said 'I was worried about what would happen to you when I was gone,' Ruby blushed a little bit. But she shook it off to respond. "And I don't want to poof, for the same reason! And if neither of us poof, I bet we can do whatever we set out to do." Ruby said, pushing to a stand and smiling, offering her hand, to help Lapis up.
"But you're right, first we have to train to make sure we never run into this problem ever again. And then we can chase after corrupted gems without having to worry. Maybe we could even get you some sort of weapon you could carry around? Though that might be Para's area of expertise."
Lapis took Ruby's hand in both of hers and let herself be helped up. She pursed her lips in hesitation though. "IIII don't know how getting a weapon. Lapis Lazulis aren't built for fighting as it is and I already need both of my hands to fly. I guess I could use water to make a weapon if I ever needed it..." She released one hand and raised it, allowing water to flow through her fingers. "Maybe something like yours?" The water froze around each finger to form ice knuckles, then she shook her head. "MMmnah, that doesn't feel right. Maybe I'll stick to getting better at my powers. I already know how to make a shield, and I do that..." she makes a whipping motion with her free hand. "...thing. I wouldn't know how to wield a weapon like you anyway. Let's just go to the temple."
Ruby nodded, and the two were probably headed off towards the temple. It would take them a little while, but Ruby was fine with just walking there. Not that she really had much of a choice. "Whatever you're comfortable with. I just wanted to make sure that - whatever it is - we're ready." She nodded again, firmly this time.
"Even if you're the one in the front with the shield that um - takes hits? Then that's fine, I'll just be the one that punches. Or whatever you can do, I just want to make sure we're prepared to fight. Whatever that looks like, or whatever you're comfortable with, is fine by me. I guess we'll see when we get to the arena though, huh?"
"Well I still don't like taking hits." She giggled quietly, but there was a bit of a nerve to it. "That was really only from an emergency. When I met that one gem in my kindergarten—Painite, remember her?—we were attacked by corrupted gems. It tried to bite me, but that's when I figured out I could use water to keep it from shutting its mouth on me. Then I accidentally froze myself to the outside of its mouth, but it still didn't get to bite me!" She said cheerfully. "But I still like being in the air or at a distance. I have a lot of stories like that actually." She then proceeded to tell them to Ruby all the way to the temple.
This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’.
