She gave a sigh of relief over the fact that talk about the reactor was sidelined; after the snooping around she had done, along with her defection from Homeworld, Ame was almost frightened just talking about it. Her eyes trailed down to watch the faded landscape below pass by, and was starting to realize that frost was forming over the surface of her skin. The arctic was cold, but the atmosphere above it was even worse; it was good she was an all-terrain soldier rather than someone who wouldn't withstand something like this
"I-if they've got central heating th-then I'll be good with whatever they're showing," She gave a light grin, then paused as she tried to concentrate on using her newfound power to heat herself up a little. Her eyes fluttered closed, and she tried to conjure that flame that she had discovered; though it was a bit like trying to feel a certain emotion on demand, not something Ame was accustomed to. It was even a bit frustrating, any heat that accumulated was whisked off by the wind. She gave a huff, and her eyes fluttered open again-- or as much as they could without eye protection-- only to see that tiny fires were breaking out over her skin and hair,"Uh!" She was warmer, but now she wasn't quite sure how to keep herself from singeing the other gem, and gave an awkward smile while she tried to concentrate on reigning it in,"Uh! So what kind of movies are the best kind, anyway?"
Azurite was about to start laughing at the sudden stuttering of her companion, only to notice that her hands suddenly felt really heavy, and that her finger were stiff—she glance down to notice that they had literally frozen together “Nyeh!?” She managed until she realized frost was indeed starting to smother her at this point, “Uh—lemme g-get to that in j-just a second!” Chevron, who had an incredibly bored look on her face managed to look over with a disinterested pout only to grow alarmed as she watched Azurite was starting to literally freeze over. “Azz’ee! Low’erre yor altee ‘tude!” She said as she watched Azurite already begin to do so, she was about to complain about the situation even more when she swore she felt warmth behind her and both Chevron and Azurite seemed a little more than interested as 6UE seemed to be catching fire.
“Yo, purps. When did you become a flamin’ hot-Cheetos?” Azurite would say, extended her hands over to use the amethyst as a convenient hand-warmer, “I mean you’re putting the phrase ‘she’s on fire,’ to a whole new level right now,” she’d throw out there as she kept lowered their altitude. “And movies? Well, the best movies are hard to say—but I love action movies, and fantasy movies and what the human’s call ‘sci’fi movies,” she thought for a moment, “I mean some are better than other’s, but most are pretty darn cool yo.”
With that in mind a large landmass began to show itself in the distance, and even stranger, as far as it was, there was a massive city as well.
It was difficult to maintain the fire, especially with all the wind and cold whirling around the tiny flames as the group of gems sped through the Earthling atmosphere, but it seemed she wasn't the only one freezing; Azurite had nearly become a block of ice, which was a bit shocking for Ame to see. The fact that her ability could be useful to not only herself gave her a boost of determination, and with it a boost of more controlled, residual heat.
Her eyes drew to the impending landmass-- it definitely wasn't Empire, she would recognize it if it were, and there was nothing here she had seen before. Empire itself was such a large city with so many things to see, it was almost daunting to be zipping straight for another big city that was likely to be just as multifaceted and uncharted as the one she had spent so much time getting to know.
"After I got put on lookout duty for the build...erm, lets just say that I've had a lot of free time to, uh, add some spice to my routine," She shrugged,"I don't really got a good handle on it, but I'm gonna keep practicing," She smiled, then moved on to think about the answer to her question,"and, well, I'm not sure what any of that is, but I guess we're gonna see, huh?"
As the sparkling city shoreline closed in, a realization suddenly hit her,"Oh!Uh..." she'd left everything she'd bought in Empire City back in the locker room of the hockey rink, including what little cash she had managed to make hawking snacks and using the T-shirt canon during local games. She tipped her head back in exasperation for a moment, then spoke,"I just remembered, everything humans do costs money...and I'm gonna guess the movies cost some too. Anyone happen to have any cash?"
“Huh, well, don’t combust or anything—burnt purps just sounds a little too ironic for some reason.” As she canted her head with some suspicion, possibly worried even. “And yeah, don’t worry about it, it’ll make sense when we get there.” To which her eyes then shifted and locked on the city and she continued her descent towards it. “Crap you’re right!” she scoffed at the realization, the last time she came she did this so called ‘stick-up,’ thing to a human, at first she found it funny but then later figured out that the human obviously didn’t appreciate it and had their little human enforcers running around searching for her for what seemed like months.
Chevron, who maintained her flight beside them, gazed with what seemed like there was sense of boredom in her eyes. “So slow …” she thought to herself, but they lit up at the sight of the city, it was beyond anything she’d ever seen so far and she truly marveled at the constructive effort it must have took to build such a massive metropolis. Her eyes narrowed as she started to gaze at the finer details from where they were, her impressive vision honing in on the people, the strange words written into billboards, it was fascinating indeed.
“Z’is munn’ee you speak of, v’here do we find ee’t?” she seemed more than ready to do something about it, Azurite made something of annoyed sigh, “We’re gonna have to work, man, we should just ransom someone, they make hella money doing that in the movies. Just be like, ‘Humans! We have your president! We want one-trillion dollahs!” it was odd but not only did Azurite’s voice change to mimic what could be described as the sassiest of villains, but she even did some weird gesture with her pinky towards her mouth.
She chuckled, though she didn't have full control over her abilities she was...fairly sure she could control it enough for her to keep herself from actually becoming a flamin' hot cheeto. Though, this put her into a lapse of thought until Azurite's musings about what they could do to dig up some cash waved away her mild contemplation like smoke in a kitchen. Her eyes fluttered, then widened before she cracked an uneasy grin. She wasn't all that thrilled about the idea of literally robbing people and then ransoming them off, but her eyes lit up as Azurite did her impression.
"You know...you're pretty good at those movie impressions," She remembered some of the ones she'd heard Azzy do during the escapade to K Sigma she'd went on a while back. Ame tapped her finger for a moment,"Hmm...gives me an idea. If humans pay money to see movies...what if we made a movie?" Ame was well aware of the fact that they didn't have any equipment, but she had noticed that some humans had a penchant for staring, especially at gems,"Or...something like that," As long as they could find a way to entertain the humans, Ame was sure that they could get some money without participating in a shake-down,"I uh-- I'd like to avoid having their law enforcement after us, it's a real pain to get them to stop," She cleared her throat, she wasn't sure that she had even been able to clear things up last time she'd been guided into the police station.
They descended enough that the busy streets below finally woke up to their presence, onlookers staring in awe as Azzy landed smack dab in the middle of a four-way intersection, a series of vehicles halting at the sudden traffic block, and of course the furious cacophony of horns as drivers lashed out with their road rage. “Me? Well, I’d like to think I can make a few good jokes here and there.” She’d run over in her head the thought of making a movie, then waited for the amethyst to hop of the sword—to which she would of felt it’s odd ‘van-der-wal,’ attraction give way. Once the purple gem was off, Azurite would leap to the ground taking the blade by the handle and pressing in a small embedding in its surface, its engines went quiet and the sword with three distinct metal ‘clinks,’ folded in on itself until it met its smallest yet still heaviest cleaver-like state.
She would then lift it over her shoulder and let it rest in the harness on her back which practically engulfed the device and then shuttered as several nodes locked it in place. “Us, make a movie? How are we gonna do that?” she’d say, ignoring the bystanders who were growing angrier by the second—until that is what could only be described as a literal violet-angel with wings swoop down and land beside the two massive gems, one larger than the other of course. Chevron’s violet wings were throwing cascades of glowing purples around in the beams of the sun, and it was quite awe inducing. “Mmgh…” she seemed to groan as she was being stared at by a myriad of these ... strange alien creatures.
“Ha, we could handle the enforcers, but then they might not let us into the movies—we might as well figure out a way to make this money stuff right, how we gonna do this? Got any ideas?” She honestly didn’t know how movies were made, she saw a movie that supposedly depicted it, but she couldn’t believe it … it was so boring, it had to be a comedic joke or something.
Ame hopped off and listened to Azurite, but she felt enormously self-conscious as she glanced around the intersection; she had already known upon their landing that they would be holding up the human commuters and making a scene, though it was hard for gems to not make a scene in general. On top of that, the humans of this region didn't seem as accustomed to the presence of gems as those in Empire. Her eyes darted to Chevron, who also seemed to be getting some discomfort from the ogling of humans. Cheeks flushed with a deeper indigo, the purple quartz swiveled and began marching toward the nearest sidewalk as she answered.
As she made her way, she realized some of the humans had pulled their phones out, no doubt trying to get something to share on their social medias that Ame was still having a difficult time wrapping her head around. Though, that only seemed to help her come to a more concrete conclusion about how the three of them were going to acquire enough cash to see a movie themselves.
"Oh, er...well, we're already getting them to stare at us. We just need to find a way to get them to pay to do that. I mean, that's kinda what a movie is right?" She shrugged, and looked around,"For now lets act natural, and see what we can find, gotta figure out where the theater is anyway," She glanced over toward Azurite and Chevron, giving them both a light grin, before she seemed to switch into a more focused mode, eyes scanning for the familiar words movie and theater, as well as for any hints about how they might go about things from the activities of people around them. However, many of the humans in the area looked too preoccupied with the arrival of extraterrestrials right in the center of intersecting avenues.
Azurite in contrast to her purple friend seemed completely oblivious of the humans around her, as if they barely existed actually, this coupled with the fact some of them were throwing curses and insults at them in a mixture of European languages meant that this gem seemed to give even less of a hoot than she probably should of. But she followed after her taller companion with their violet winged friend toeing just behind them, her wings shaking off any frost on them before wrapping around her in a more elegant fashion. Stepping into the sidewalk, she noted the mass of humans who had gathered at the edges of the streets and lifted a brow.
But before any of them could get a word out it seemed they were being recorded, and Chevron seemed to make an odd ‘meep!’ as a group of humans surrounded her and started to record and berate the gem with a myriad of photos, “Excusez moi! Please don’t do z’at!” She’d say as her cheeks lit up and she became visibly flustered, what was happening? Why were all these humans culminating around her? Was she in danger? She wanted to believe so and yet there was a look of something all too familiar in their eyes, they were like herself, amazed at the sight of something new. It confused her, how was she able to comprehend these lower life forms so easily?
At her French comment, some of them even began to reply in earnest, and the gem had a rather surreal moment when she realized she could understand them, and even odder when she started to feel like an entire language was uncurling in her psyche.
Azurite thought for a moment a what Amethyst had said, “Well, in the movies it’s usually behind a screen thing, and there’s usually a plot and uh,” she scratched her head, it was a bit more than she was ready to consider, “and alright, but ...” she stared at some of the wording on the panels and the streets, the word’s were … weird. “Yo what’s a … bui’tebdububbabaa! What the hell do some of these words mean, yo! What’s Cabaret?!” she grew frustrated as the moments went on, people staring at the massive weapon her back.
She peered around, recognizing most of the language, though it seemed some shops and signs were adding weird phrases and lines, some flare that she didn't quite get. Her lips pursed as she gave a quick glance around, for the most part just trying to ignore the humans that were continuing to ogle the group of gems,"I dunno, kinda cryptic. I didn't realize humans had even more words for things, Empire keeps it pretty slim I guess," She scratched her head, then she shrugged,"We could probably ask someone what it means, or where the theater is, to be honest," She gave a little chuckle, she almost forgot that she could just walk up to a human and talk to them, even if it wasn't Empire; most of them would get over the extraterrestrialquality of a gem if they were approached in a polite manner. For thirty some years she had been told that humans were lowly creatures, but Ame saw something else in them.
As she looked at the jumbled, accented words, she realized that their smallest group member had gone momentarily missing. Ame snapped her focus away from trying to read the words, she stood up straight, and swiveled her head around before her eyes honed in on a mob of humans pressing around what was presumably the small winged gem. The quartz puffed up, brows furrowing a bit, and she marched over to them,"Alright alright, c'mon people, give her some space," She said as her heavy footsteps would thud up to the crowd gathering to snap pictures and video. She tried to push through and offer a hand to Chevron.
Azurite seemed to frown at this, only to feel something tugging on the massive blade at her back, the pressure drew her attention and she peered behind to see nothing at first and then her shark-like eyes canted down at a young human child who withdrew his little hands from her sword. “Excuse me w’ady, you a super hew’o?” he’d ask, eyes beaming at the elite badassery of Azurite’s sword and outfit. She thought for a moment, she had seen the movies of the super heroes, to be honest she had been wanting to square off with this Batman guy for a while now. But unfortunately finding these superhuman beings proved impossible, they had these secret lairs apparently, and were hiding out just for the right moment, she’d wait—she’d get her chance eventually.
“Me, Nah kid, I’m a supah Villain!” She knelt down and the kid beamed, excited to see such a powerful antagonistic force before him, “I’m the evilest, medievalist, monstrous Ms. Mineral! And I’m here to take out your Batman!” she yelled, “Woooah! Cool!” He seemed to roll something over in his head along with his growing excitement, “Batman is so ov’ah blown anyways, its all about Antman! Or Black Widow!” Azurite immediately went stone-faced … Antman? Who the hell was Antman? And Black Widow? These two sounded way worse than this Batman fellow.
Chevron had just seemed to hop away from a human reaching out to touch her wings when they all seemed to take not of the inhumanly large Amethyst intimidating her way into the fray- to which a few of them dispersed, Chevron didn’t wait not even a second before reaching out a hand and letting the Amethyst take her away from the danger at hand, she was blushing just a bit more intensely, embarrassed of how frail she might of seemed in this moment, amongst other things. Luckily, being pulled towards Azurite, she’d ogle the little human, something welling up inside her she couldn’t quite understand.
The focused mode Ame had been in continued as she grasped Chevron's hand, keeping her eyes moving in the crowd for any sign of mob upset or other threats. When her eyes landed back on the smaller gem, her lip tugged down a smidgen while her brows floated, a concerned glimmer in her dark eyes. She then realized just how distressing the situation had been for Chevron. If this was the winged gem's first experience among humans, Ame worried it might leave a bad impression on the scout-- the larger gem was a bit disconcerted by the whole reaction of these humans too-- though, witnessing the difficulty faced by comrades always had way of helping the quartz soldier put her personal discomforts aside to dive into action.
"Honestly," She grumbled, brows setting back down to cast a shade over her eyes,"Don't these people have any manners?" While she continued to speak, she swiveled to use her broad back as a wall, cutting off the mob while gently guiding the smaller gem in front of her so that she could keep Chevron within sight. The link between their hands was to ensure the easy to lose gem wouldn't be separated from the group again, so the quartz could keep her attention roving. "Puh, maybe we should press harassment charges,"
As she made her way back to Azurite, who was talking to a very small human, she made another realization that made her whole expression light up. She opened her hand to let Chevron go, then jutted her thumb over her shoulder,"We've already got an audience, now we just got to figure out how to get them to pay up for all this staring," Ame crossed her arms and tapped her foot against the concrete. It still miffed her that the humans here had been so inconsiderate at Chevron's expense, but the goal was still to have a good time-- she wouldn't let this debacle stand in the way of that for any of them,"If us just standing around is interesting for them, we could probably put on a much better show right here," She shrugged, not really sure what kind of show that might be,"But not 'til they pay first,"
Chevron seemed a little confused from what she heard in 6UE’s offhand statements as the group of humans around them seemed to heed the imposing giant of a bodyguard shooing them off and pulled away like predators still ready to throw a bite at an undefended cub. Chevron’s clingier nature kicking in as she practically stuck to the amethyst solder, keeping both her arms lassoed around the other’s which quite frankly could have lifted the little gem on their own. But still their camera’s flashed and flickered and made an odd snapping noise Chevron couldn’t help but cringe at. “Harassment Charr’gesse? V’hat do you mean? V’hy a z’ese humans so ...” she could bring herself to say anything cruel about them, but they were definitely a strange bunch of creatures.
Azurite had turned her gaze up from the children who had surrounded her now, Chevron herself staring at these smaller humans intently, they were somehow far less intimidating than the larger ones around them—she almost sensed a kind of innocence about them to be honest. When they turned to see her, one would beam up brightly, a young girl in a pink-clad dress shouting, “It’s the angel lady!” a few of the children departing from their bit of ogling at Azurite to stare at both the tall purple figure of Ame and the glistening wings of the scout-class solder clinging to her. “Are you a super hero too lady?!” the young one would ask in excitement, Chevron, unsure what a super hero been was, threw cautious gazes here and there, and then looked up at 6UE completely confused, “Nah she’s too small, she’s gotta be her sidekick!!” another seemed to theorize, at the mention her, pointed at 6UE.
Chevron went blanked faced being called small by these tiny humans, how could they!?
Azurite had walked over, just overhearing her companion’s ideas for somehow entertaining these creatures. “Your right, Ame, we do got’ an audience here! Just gotta think of how to engage em!” would say, and then looked over at a car, she smiled and then ran over hoping on on-top of an SUV, a man in the distance calling out, “My car! I just got that washed, get off!” To which Azurite ignored him, that or maybe she didn’t hear him through all the conundrum. “Humans! We demand currency for your entertainment! I, the great honorguard Azurite, shall show you her incredible skills along with my companions, Amethyst and Chevron Amethyst!” she pointed to the two, “Behold, the winged-scout and our glorious sentinel!” The people seemed interested, forming a little circle around the group. “But we demand the ... Money-thing you use! For we have a movie to see.”
Ame took a moment to address Chevron, pulling her attention away from the humans around them for a moment, "Erm, well, charges are something you place when you want someone to stop doing something," She kept her voice low, and shrugged,"I learned that after, uh...well, I got into a bit of trouble the first time I was here," After she was done speaking, she glanced around at the smaller humans, and realized with a start that a bunch of them were staring at the group of gems and making comments-- her cheeks turned a deeper purple, especially as Azurite garnered the attention of the entire crowd. She glanced back down to Chevron and gave a big grin, despite the embarrassment she wore,"Humans are weird for sure, but they ain't too different from us once you get to know em,"
Many faces among the crowd glittered with curiosity and wonder, while others were more incredulous or confused. She quickly tried to think of something flashy she could do to keep the attention fixed, and to convince them it was worth giving up a bit of money for. She eye'd Chevron, then Azurite, and puffed up as she got ready to show off a little. It wouldn't take much to impress humans who had never seen a gem before-- she reasoned, anyway.
She backed up a bit, then flexed her massive arms as Azurite referenced her, giving a big pearly grin to the crowd before she dove into a spin dash, and zipped around the SUV, then landed with a purposefully heroic kneel in front of it, then stood up to her full towering height, and stuck out her hand. She cleared her throat, and projected her voice for the humans to hear,"Once we have enough, we'll give you a look at what gems can really do!"

Chevron began to wonder if it was customary for gems to have so much information on the customs of humans, she expected that in the interim of their greater empire overtaking this meager planet, that such customs would be lost and or mostly unnecessary. Maybe there was something to learn, even from what their Diamonds considered to be a lesser species. But, if there was even a bit of worth in understanding these creature’s while they existed, couldn’t at least experimenting or preserving them yield even greater results later on?
The thought sewed threads of deep rumination in the newly spanned gems mind, who despite the hullaballoo beginning to explode around her, screamed a face of a women completely detached from the world around her and deeply in thought. It took a sudden whirlwind of motion beside her for the gem to suddenly pop out of her little day-dream as she watched her Amethyst companion utilize a power that was admittedly both very cool and quite fast!
Just as the crowd was gawking in astoundment, some cheering even, the young Chevron was also beaming at the two until her name popped up, to which the little gem grew a deep violet in the cheeks. She had to do something ‘cool,’ as well, correct? She looked around at the crowd who didn’t seem so suspecting, though a few were indeed looking over at her curiously, she took a deep breath, extending her wings at their fullest before taking a great flap and soaring into the air pulling some like a fast spiral before landing beside Azurite and Amethyst in an almost heroic fashion though her shaken embarrassed face couldn’t bely her awkwardness.
Azurite gleamed as her two compadre’s hopped into action, she had almost forget 6UE was an amethyst and the iconic spin-dash reminded her so, thing was as much as she loved Amethyst, Ame was still something of her own making, on the inside, whatever that spunk is that makes a gem a gem—she stood out and she appreciated that. To be honest so did Chevron, Azurite couldn’t help but shake her head at the thought of having two such unique companions to chill with.
And with that small display, she watched as a few humans would mosey over and lay bunch of weirdly colored paper strips on the floor—to be honest she only ever seen American money, but this Canadian stuff not only looked a lot more colorful, but wasn’t nearly as boring looking as the last city she went to, she saw a couple numbers, one’s, five’s even a ten!
“Awhyeah! You earned yourself one of my greatest trick mounts I've ever conceived!" she said as she reached for her blade and began to unlock it from its harness, “I call it, the upside-down, double-dunkin’ spinneretta mount’tebella!” truth be told, she actually made that up right at the spot, she rarely named any of the tricks she pulled with her sword.
This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’.
