"Oh, I had no idea the Crystal Gems were that close. Going to meet with them sounds like a good plan to me, if you don't mind." Maxixe said, ready to follow Laramar's lead. She looked off into the sky for a moment before looking back toward Laramar. "So, uh... what exactly makes you so uncomfortable about fusion? I mean, I would understand if I was one of the bigger, more threatening fusions; but I've met quartz bigger than me. I get that homeworld sees it as some big taboo thing outside of combat, but this isn't homeworld. So what's wrong with it?" After wanting to be fused for so long, and now finally being able to, Maxixe could hardly understand why anyone wouldn't want this.
It was a useless information for Peridot, so she just sighed, dropped the book and walked away. "This was in Latin anyways, i would take a while to translate, so thanks Titanite, but i can't tell my goal that easily to anyone" She slowly walked away from the library, wondering if someday could find what she was looking for. Peridot already managed to find so many places and so many different things but nothing looked like to lead her to her goal. After some seconds lost in her own thoughts, she decided to ask Titanite for some help. "Hey, do you know this city, right? Can you take me to an advanced tech building or something like that? I do anything you want in return"
Larimar considered her words very carefully, not wanting to insult the Gem any further than she already had. "It... scares me. Permafusion, that is. I haven't fused at all but from what I've heard, being fused for too long makes you lose your sense of self - the two Gems become one and you just cease to exist as your own person. That, and I really don't like physical contact with other Gems. Or humans, for that matter."
"This is a coastal town. Not a city. There wouldn't be something like that here." The taller Gem replied. "...Pearly and Blue might know where you could find something like that." He gestured after the sentence, arm pointing towards a spa. "They'd be in there."
"I guess if you see it like that it probably would sound pretty scary." Maxixe took a moment to collect her thoughts before continuing. "But that's not like this. Some gems only fuse to get stronger, and at times that can be a useful tool. But it's when power hungry, incompatible, or unstable fusions stay together too long that things get... complicated. As for me, Emerald and Aquamarine can separate whenever they want. I haven't forgotten who we were apart, it's just... like I'm never alone. I don't feel like I've lost who I am, or who they are. I just feel like I've found what they both always felt they were missing. Like I'm complete." Maxixe said, looking down at herself and smiling contentedly. Once she realized she what she was doing she blushed slightly and continued, "Well- uh, anyways. I guess all I'm trying to say is that you don't have to lose yourself when you fuse, sometimes it's just the bond between gems given form. Stronger, healthier bonds will make the most stable fusions."
She lost enough time with him. Once she realized that, she just kept walking without saying anything, analyzing the Humans around and some Gems. Indeed there wasn't much hope for upgrades on her tech. Peridot started to search for homeworld made Gems, even if they were Crystal Gems now, they could know where to find advanced technology. But she couldn't wait any longer, her schedule showed that if she didn't get results, she should retreat to the starting point and look for another place to research. Peridot pulled her Spikes to throw some concrete pieces from the floor to some buildings' walls, making a loud noise. "Done, now i'll wait until something bad happen... Or something neutral, because i almost destroyed a building, nothing good will come, but i have to risk it. Now if none in charge of something here shows up, i'll really destroy this" She wondered what Titanite would think about that for a moment, but then she remembered that she just doesn't care enough. She must finish her research.
This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
