"I did it!" Peridot was confused with herself, when she finally realized that Jasper didn't poofed... PR healed her instead of corrode her. "Not too shabby brat, but now, how am i going to take on them?" She was ready for anything after this performance, she just wanted to fulfill her personal mission. PR suggested to Peridot, whispering, to let her do the talking, and without much choice, she accepted.
"WAIT!!!" She said when they were about to hit her, while using her Spikes' ropes to move to another location quicker. "I know what Peridot wants, its get rid of me. So if i could help you until we find the cure of my defect, i will go with you, how about that? I help you, i don't betrayal anyone and we're all good, maybe... Friends? This attacks were not mine you see..." PR stumbled and fell again, she was very nervous. After cleaning the throat, she tried to talk again. "Please, you can put a lot of guards around me, but... Give me a chance, i need, Peridot needs that"
At the Peridot's call for them to wait, Padparadscha skidded to a halt and deeply furrowed her brows at the gem. Jasper was reluctant to stop, she flung herself out of a spin dash to land square on her feet, but she kept her baton in hand, looming over the peridot with a predatory glare. The dust settled as Peridot spoke, but the gem's condition was still incomprehensible for the sapphire or her bodyguard. Padparadscha kept her plasma whirling around her, ready to cut off any escape for the fugitive gem if need be.
"What? One minute you're talking about shattering one of the Grand Authority and her subjects, the next you're trying to negotiate?" Padparadscha lashed, her words shed the pseudo-pleasant tone, genuine irritation showed in the lowering of her gaze, the sneer on her lips. Did this rebel truly expect to negotiate after openly attacking a dignitary of Pink Diamond's Court? After saying out-loud that she would commit heinous crimes? "The severity of your offenses keeps accumulating!" She snapped again, allowing her plasma to spread like a pool of viscous lava at her feet,"Most runaways are simply confused by the message of this so-called Rose Quartz. I considered you confused, but now you will be considered dangerous. If there is any chance of you accompanying the two of us into the communication hub, then you will be under physical duress for the entire duration of the mission,"
3JJ turned to look with wide-eyes at Padparadscha. The sapphire continued to baffle the quartz; why should they not dispose of this peridot, this self-proclaimed shatterer, right here and now? The soldier couldn't fathom it, but she didn't make the rules, Padparadscha did.
PR immediately knelt down, looking to the ground. "I take it, i just want to understand how do i simply stop existing!" PR hold up the tears. "If i wasn't supposed to be here but Peridot, then, at least i want to help her, i don't want to give up my live, but i don't have other choice" She stood up slowly, and while shaking with fear, she tried to make the Diamond Salute, but was too afraid to remember how to do. "Sorry Cl-Clarity? Is that right? Please correct me if i'm wrong, i just want to help, please believe me, i just tried to warn you about Peridot's plan, i'm not Peridot now, i was just trying to help" PR took off her Limb Enhancers, giving them to the soldier. Once PR glitched again, she remembered that she needed to reform properly as Peridot didn't let her do it, so she used her Shoulder Spikes to heal herself faster. Then, gave it to the soldier too. "Now, my advice is that you be careful with these, it's dangerous, even i don't know everything it can do, just Peridot..."
The sapphire clasped her hands behind her back and frowned deeply, but she allowed the fugitive gem to speak her mind. If there was one thing Padparadscha knew, it was that the rebels would inevitably lose their war; all she could do was try to save as many of them as she could from their misguided, confused state of mind. This peridot seemed to be a textbook Crystal Gem as far as Padparadscha was concerned, but the technician had claimed to be neither rebel nor loyal-- the aristocratic investigator still couldn't accept that, but it was clear this gem needed help.
"Very well," Her hands unclasped and she gestured toward the communication hub, a tall crystalline tower that could be seen for miles around,"We are to investigate the communications hub. It has been down for years, causing dire miscommunications and mission failures at an alarming rate. Of course rebel sabotage has made it extremely difficult to repair, but I have been investigating the communication's hub for many moon cycles, and I believe we may be close to fixing the issue," She gave peridot a quick briefing on the mission, then cleared her throat,"You are a technician, so I'll allow you a chance to use your talents to these ends. However, you will face a swift detainment if you act out,"
At those words, Jasper shifted, crossing her arms, and kept a close eye on the peridot. Having to keep track of the gem would make it more difficult to look out for other threats, after all this could be some kind of trap, but for now 3JJ would have to go along with things. She positioned herself behind the group, while the sapphire gestured for peridot to walk along side her as she took her first steps toward the hub.
PR was in a tough situation, because she could only heal living things, but it wouldn't stop her from all her goals, she's a technician after all. "Uh... Okay, i'll try my best here, but it might take a while, i'm not used to it... Anymore" PR starts to search for the remaining pieces of the hub, then went running to the shore look for any substance that could cause a mortal disease so she could make an corrosive matter. With everything she would be able to make some Flask Robonoids. "C'mon, lil buddy... I need you to help me please... I need your poison otherwise i'm in trouble" PR started to talk with a jellyfish underwater, but she was worried that the group didn't want her to be so far away from them, so she came as fast as possible, but she delayed of course, and levitated everything around her to make it clear she was there. "I know how to do that! Please hear me out!" She yelled while levitating every piece of steel around her.
The sapphire's thin brows furrowed as PR seemed to be back tracking toward the shoreline, but of course the Homeworlder's wouldn't leave this captured victim of the rebellion to her own devices. 3JJ followed the peridot very closely, and listened to her muttering with the corners of her lips pulling downward, while Padparadscha lingered further back, occasionally peering back over her shoulder while the peridot seemed to be preparing something.
"What's this you're working on?" The sapphire piped up, still confused by the whole situation. There seemed to be a small robot and a lot of raw or even fully prepared materials laying around here. She glanced about while 3JJ kept her heavy brow furrowed in PR's direction. Padparadscha crossed her arms,"Will this help us fix the communication's hub?" The large tower loomed behind the group, not far from where they were standing at the shoreline, a striking crystal structure that pierced into the sky. However, the dereliction of the structure was evident in the huge chunks of debris laying around it, and the many pillars that leaned dangerously out of alignment. There was plenty of time for the mission to be completed, so Padparadscha didn't rush things.
Still nervous, PR started to build the Flask Roboind with everything she collected so far, but unfortunately it was enough for only one Robonoid, so she was scared. What if they were without time to finish this mission? She didn't see much choice, she needed to canalize her light and mass on strength to make the hard work faster without leaving everything to the Soldier.
PR broke her visor on one of the pillars to poof herself, she wanted to achieve another form, she was too small now. "Just wait, i need to carry thes-" She poofed herself with an Visor shard, but didn't last long as a Gemstone, she just canalized everything on brute power. Her hands were huge. Besides that the body was a little deformed.
She started to struggle to pull some boulders and pillars to the right place, so they could be activated again by the Robonoid's goop. After some time, she finally moved one pillar to the wrong place. She has forgotten the right patterns. "Oh! C'mon! Really!? ... Sorry, would you mind guiding me here? I don't know where to put these pillars... By the way, can i know your name too? Would be nice"
The peridot might have been confusing, but she was certainly very eager. Padparadscha's mouth fell open as the peridot seemed to slide from one thing to the next with little indication from herself, and already the technician had decided to start doing heavy weight lifting. 3JJ was a bit confused herself, widened eyes flicking between her patron sapphire and the mercurial peridot who had seemed to take on the burden of enormous debris. "W-wait just a moment-- what about--" the sapphire uttered as peridot flung herself from one pillar to the next in an oblong form. The investigation of how the rebels kept messing with communications between Homeworld gems would be interfered with now that the pillars had been jostled about, though it seemed peridot indeed knew how to fix it anyway, and perhaps the investigation would simply be unnecessary.
Except, when the technician paused to tell the rest of the group she had no idea what she was doing, Padparadscha's expression slid off and she stared, almost deadpan, at peridot. The sapphire let a long sigh past through her lips, then pressed them together, a haughtiness to her voice as she continued,"You will refer to me with proper honors in any case, yes?" The Homeworld aristocrat chided,"My Jasper bodyguard should too be self explanatory," She gave a dismissive wave, she had no intention of sharing her identity with this dangerous gem who had professed an interest in shattering others, including the most magnanimous of gems, Pink Diamond herself. Padparadscha couldn't fathom it, but she hoped she would be able to turn this situation into one that was favorable for Homeworld.
She drew in a sharp breath, and began surveying the progress the peridot had already made on her own,"Well, the fact of the matter is that I don't either, which is why the zone is under investigation," She stated bluntly. Then, with her hands folded behind her back, Padparadscha stepped through the pillars as they had been constructed by peridot,"Impressive that you were able to move these massive pillars yourself. Have I by chance misinterpreted your functions?" She turned to look at PR with her head tilted slightly to the side.
PR blushed when heard that her function was "misinterpreted". She didn't like the way Homeworld put roles to everyone, but she didn't have a choice but cooperate here, otherwise she didn't know what kind of punishment she could take. The fear is something very interesting, isn't? Make you lie to yourself, make you don't live at all, but somehow PR did this, with fear... Still with a smile on her face knowing she could help others, Peridot couldn't understand this.
When she had an idea, she thought that would be better not share it, because it could be so... Stupid. Calling to an Peridot out on Homeworld could just waste their time, so she appealed to Peridot.
"Uhm... Peridot, could i access info about this place?" PR tried to ask. "Perhaps i can make a deal..." PR punched herself, stopping this. "NO!!" Everytime Peridot makes a deal, there's something behind it, that's why PR decided to not try that anymore. After a while, she didn't have a choice but study about this, this time she had another idea that could take longer, but it wouldn't require much.
"Guys... I need you to believe me when i say, i know where we can go to make an research about this place properly, here we can't afford t-" When she was about to finish, Peridot took control again without wanting to harm this time, she was just tired of this chit-chat about going to another place, if she can do it here, so be it.
"I would say that you'll owe me one, but that's not gonna happen, i get it, the brat gets it too, so let's get over with it" Peridot start to bring the pillars to the right placement this time, but she was expecting to receive some help from the other strong Gem, as she is just a Peridot that is reformed to use her strength properly. "Almost done... A help here would be good, ya know? I still need to climb to get this done"
Padparadscha recoiled when PR punched herself, eyes wide as the Peridot's other side seemed to show. The sapphire was still wrapping her head around all of this, though the Jasper bodyguard kept a hawk-eyed glare on the green gem. As peridot seemed to insinuate there was more to know, the sapphire pursed her lips and clasped her hands behind her back as she moved closer,"I would certainly benefit from knowing how you believe we could research this place," the sapphire slowed to a stop,"--and what sort of deal were you looking to make?" Padpardscha's eyes slid toward Jasper, who gave a nod.
Jasper 3JJ then cracked her knuckles, and approached Peridot as she dragged the enormous pillar. Jasper wasn't even sure she would be able to help much considering how huge each of these pillars were, and her eyes were wide as she just watched for a moment. How in the world could a little Peridot drag that much weight on her own, let alone set them up? Jasper was sure she'd never be able to pick up one of these things on her own, but she stepped up to the pillar that Peridot said she needed help with, and squatted down as she prepared to dead-lift the massive crystalline stone.
Meanwhile, Padparadscha herself prepared to help. She summoned her plasma, and began to design a ladder that could come in handy when Peridot needed to climb the structure.
Peridot was about to say that was none of her business when she asked about the "deal", but PR sealed her lips, and talked instead. "Sorry, probably you won't believe it, but i was trying to make a deal with myself... Apologies for the insolence, Clarity, but it's the only and truthful explanation" PR was sorry, although she didn't like to speak with her like she was that important and if PR was just a tool, but tried to suppress this feeling from them, and she still didn't was sure how to speak to her properly.
After that, Peridot takes over again to finish the job. "Excuse me brat!!!" She climbed up the Plasma Ladder to finish this as fast as possible, and alas, just had left one last broken Pillar that Peridot had to deal with now. She wondered how did it get destroyed like that, and when she saw claw marks on the Pillar, she immediately searched for who destroyed it. It could be nearby cause the claw's marks was still a little hotter than the rest of the Pillar. When she found, it was a crab. The Pillar was probably loose enough for a crab to put it down. "*Sigh* Well, i found the troublemaker, i must know how to fix until the next rotation of this planet... And create a barrier within the next translation of this... Oh, nevermind, What do i do with this neutral organic creature?"
Her sense for truth had taught her that sometimes the most unlikely sounding stories could be true. She nodded as she listened to PR, then her brows went up again as, in the blink of an eye, the gem seemed to change into someone else again. Peridot moved so quickly it was hard for Padparadscha or Jasper to get a word in edgewise, already the gem had attempted to climb the unfinished ladder, though seemed not to mind that the molten liquid was not yet cooled, another impressive feat of this erratic gem.
The crustacean elicited a frown from the sapphire, along with the strange hypothesis that the technician had come to,"I don't believe it was Earthling creatures who destroyed the hub. Gemkind rebels have been hiding on this planet for thousands of years, and they have every motive to destroy the communications hub, as well as the galaxy warp," Nonetheless, she ascended to the point where Peridot was, and leaned over to examine the marks on the pillar. It seemed those marks indeed were created by the near mindless crustacean that the green gem was waving around,"Perhaps...these creatures could be of use," She tapped her chin as she ruminated on surveillance strategies that could be employed in order to monitor the zone. Her eyes narrowed a bit at Peridot,"Hmmm..." she uttered
Peridot didn't care about who did it, so she just kept working on the broken Pillar. While her Shoulder Spikes could release organic healing substance with Gem Tech, she needed something to fix non-organic matter. "Relax, i can do this, i can feel that-Shut up brat! Of course i can!" She blushed angrily and took each piece of the broken Pillar with her opened Spikes, bringing near to the Plasma, trying to merge the pieces using the heat around the Plasma.
When she finished after 2 hours, she finally put the Pillar back on his place, therefore re-activating the Communication Hub. "Thanks the stars you managed to finish before-Stop with it brat! Now let me check the area for anyone that can destroy it" She used her Spike's ropes to go up in the sky and see better, but she couldn't move, just stand up there.
As the peridot quickly walked away and went onto other things, largely ignoring what was said, it was clear to Padparadscha that this green gem wasn't all that interested in her part to play in the matter. The sapphire was a bit shocked, brows floating, though this whole matter had been so confusing for her that she gave a long sigh and conceded with a look of defeat lengthening the shadows of her features. She turned, allowed the technician to do what she was designed to do, and climbed down from the plasma ladder to go to the base of the communications hub where Jasper had been waiting, impatiently tapping her foot.
"What's going on?" Jasper 3JJ grumbled as the sapphire's feet touched the ground,"Are we detaining this defective gem or what?" Padparadscha gave a slow but firm nod, and glanced up to where the peridot had been working.
"I've tried communicating with her, but it has been...difficult. She seems to have entirely focused on her work, which is admittedly favorable," The sapphire shrugged, though she wished she could have a more coherent dialogue with the green gem. Padparadscha tapped her chin,"In fact, she seems entirely within her element,"
As the two homeworld gems awaited Peridot's finished work for the next two hours, they began preparing for the detainment. This Peridot-- or PR-- was a gem who could make use of latent strength, who could withstand extreme temperatures, and who was wholly unpredictable in temperament even for the truth-sensing capabilities of Pink Diamond's super-sleuth Padparadscha. Without knowing what could happen next, she decided to start calling in precautions.
Soon, the small pink ship allotted to Padparadscha from her diamond cruised into the immediate area of the communication hub, guided by the careful hand of Pink Pearl. When the ship gently landed, the sapphire herself began to design a quarantine parameter around the hub, a short wall that would at least act to collect evidence and snare rebels who might try to deactivate the hub in the future before less temporary measures could be made.
After two hours, the hub was reactivated-- perhaps not in all of the elegant glory that it had been in before the actions of the rebel leaders Rose Quart, Meta Autunite, and Variscite. Though, she wondered where these Crystal Gem leaders were now. Of course, now all three homeworlders; Jasper 3JJ, Pink Pearl, and Padparadscha waited for the peridot's final diagnosis of the hub.
After a while looking around the area, she already knew how to hide and defend this place, but it would take one year to do it, so Peridot thought that it would be a waste of time trying to do something that could delay other Homeworld missions, now that she already saw herself as a prisoner and PR as a hostage. PR tried to take over again but failed, maybe because Peridot was calmer than usual, accepting its "fate". "So... If the only mission was that, we're done here... So, are we done here Clarity?" She said with an blank look accepting everything that could happen to her on Homeworld, she gave up entirely.
PR was unable to interact, just could see, hear and feel, wondering what was going on at this point. When something came behind Peridot, she didn't even saw to hit with her Shoulder Spikes. She instantly poofed a Corrupted Gem that was inside an sand hill, her Gem was Cyan, had giant claws and only one eye. The hit were right in the eye. She turned her head back just to check what was, then she started to walk towards the Pink Ship slowly. "May I, My Clarity?" She stopped before entering, waiting for her response.
