Heat waves wobbled around the enormous, white jets as they patiently coursed around their tracks. The jets all had logos plastered over the side that looked like they had been there since the early nineties; faded, slant letters splashed out EmpireAirLines with too much excitement. The planes docked up to the fueling trucks, or to the comfortable airport loading stations. Some of the planes ran, faster and faster, until they lifted gracefully into the air, and took to the skies.
Nearby the jet tracks was a monotonous row of warehouses, some closed, and a few open to reveal airplane parts. In front of one of them, there was a woman wearing an all white, designer quality bomber jacket, futuristic goggles, and silver hair that had been smoothed down to one side. She milled about, phone in hand, and chatted with the other patrons awaiting their turn. With a quick peek inside of the warehouse, she saw three small helicopters. They were cute little things, nothing like the military quality beasts she use to be able to commission, but these would certainly do the job.
Ari fared quite well in her human disguise. The ground conductor, a fairly heavy man wearing a bright orange helmet and a neon vest, vented to her about all of the silly things people would do while on a helicopter ride for the first time. She nodded, though wasn't particularly listening. She checked her high-tech phone to see if any of the other gems had texted her, though so far her messages were mostly dry. She gave a sigh, and glanced around.
Following her brief stay at Beach City, Cat's Eye took the form of a bird, flying high above the land. Before she left, she took it upon herself to spy on the Crystal Gems to see if she could learn anything about what they were planning. Though she did not learn anything particularly useful, she did find out that Homeworld found the location of their base. Which was not all too pleasant, to say the least. As long as it did not affect her, she was fine with it. She was not a rebel, nor did she have any intent to ever become one. Sure, she was abandoned by Homeworld, but in her mind, that did not count. What was more concerning to her was the idea that Homeworld could decimate Earth once and for all, destroying any gem on the planet.
Below her, massive white things came into view. Tracks were everywhere, with one white thing on each one. Airplanes? she wondered. The yellow gem had never actually seen one in real life, her knowledge of them only stemmed from pictures. If there are airplanes here, then... this must be the right place! She dove down, circling around the area. Now, the only thing she had to do was to find Ari. She was told to meet her and PR there before the end of the day. Once she was close enough, she landed behind a tree near the entrance to the airfield. She shapeshifted back into a humanoid form and peeked at the gates. Her foot tapped in excitement. Soon.
She walked into the airfield, marveling at how big it was. For miles, all she could see were warehouses and jets. She started running around, curiosity getting the better at her as she started to gaze at all of them. She asked some of the other people there for information on the jets. Though she could not wrap her head around the terminology used for them, and a few people were offset by her odd appearance, they still gave explanations regardless. Cat's Eye enjoyed it, however. Even though she had her own method of flight - shapeshifting, she would like to ride one some day. As she looked at them, she suddenly remembered why she was here at the airfield. She started looking around for the silver gem, though her efforts were failing. She has to be here somewhere...
After the arrival, PR looked around the Empire Airfield for Ari and Cat's Eye. She saw some people around the place, then went towards them, checking who was Human and who could be an Gem. Walking through them she feels a pain on her legs, so stops for a while. "Is that...?" She finds Cat's Eye, so she tries to walk a little further to not lose she from sight. "Hey!" PR shouts among the noisy crowd she found herself in. Peridot now couldn't come back for sure that easily, if she did, couldn't do much with her legs wasted like this.
PR gets stunned for a moment, feeling some bad feeling about what was going to happen. She can remember some flashes about her past while looking at a plane, it was like a nightmare, she just stood there looking at the plane. Near the plane she was looking for she saw Ari but couldn't notice that. Then after some time looking there she started to feel numb.
Ari paced, her eyes flicking over the airfield as she looked for the gems. Usually, aliens stood out in a crowd if you knew what to look for, but they could also blend in quite well if they knew Earth. Still, she didn't get the impression that the gems she would soon be traveling with would be knowledgeable about the planet and its many intricacies. Ari had been there for thousands of years, and still didn't know everything.
As her eyes swept about the moving vehicles, and people zipping from one coordinate to the other, Ari heard a familiar voice call over the air. Her attention snapped over to the source of the sound-- the peridot she had met on the beach stood with a thousand-yard stare amidst the movement of people. The arsenic gem's brows furrowed, and she stuffed her phone into her pocket.
Ari waved her hand at the peridot, and started walking toward her. "Over here!" She called to the green gem.
While Cat's Eye was walking, she heard a familiar voice call "Hey!". She whipped her head around and spotted a green-skinned gem in the distance. PR! She made it! She started running towards her, bumping into other people and apologizing along the way. "PR!" she exclaimed as she got closer. When she arrived, she found her friend seemingly paralyzed in fear. "...PR?" she murmured. Soon, she heard another voice call them over. Looking around, she saw Ari approaching them. "And Ari." Smiling, she grabbed PR's hand and tugged it. "Come on, let's go," she demanded. White pupils glanced back over at the silver gem. She would get to their location eventually, but it would be much quicker to get there if they started walking.
When the peridot still did not budge, the yellow gem let go of her hand and sighed. She crossed her arms and grumbled, "...I guess we're standing here for a bit..." She'd hate to leave her alone, especially in a crowded space like this one.
PR was paralyzed looking at it. "Hm... Sorry, I'm Very... Sorry" She started to talk alone. "I need to go now, I don't know how to help..." She started to step back slowly, with her Gemstone glowing, while she felt a great pain. "You will be fine, believe me..."PR was talking literally alone, looking at nothing, but then looked at Cat's Eye, but couldn't see her yet, just saw another weird place, like this place weren't supposed to someone be standing on at least. "My Diamond will shatter me if she discover..." Her eyes were kinda dull, but then she grabs Cat's Eye hand again. "... I need to go now" She got out of the trance, eyes got back normal, looking at Cat's Eye eyes. "Sorry for the delay, I'm going now Cat's" PR smiles, walking alongside her towards Ari, waving to her.
