The forge was usually the place where a certain pearl and sometimes other gems came to work. Weapons and different machines were being created there for the crystal gems. It all started with the Forge Master Para. But now she was absent and Light took it upon himself to continue her legacy. With the plans she created herself he was able to recreate some of her works. He also started creating simple swords for those who didn't have a weapon.
The Forge was fully cleaned, the Pearl always tried to have this place look tidy in case lady para came back. But there was a big pile of small swords and he created and didn't organize yet... However, he also liked to make breaks from time to time. At one point of time he was sitting in front of an anvil with a chess board placed on it. On the other side there was his parrot, Ibi, nibbling on a chess pawn "Interesting strategy..." He said while rubbing his chin "But don't think you can beat me using such a strategy."

Sometimes Chip thought that it was incredible that the rebellion could still exist. Chip knew about both the temple and the forge and felt confident he could take them by his own. Yet Crystal Gems never seemed to build any kinds of defense or move their bases. Even so, as he was flying near the Forge he felt uneasy. They probably knew about him approaching since they had Sapphires amongst their ranks but he wasn't afraid of that. What he was afraid was the confrontation... he needed to see his friend but... they were on the other sides of this war. With that, he landed in front of the Forge. Superhero style. At least this time he found the door closed. They were learning something... "I am here to see my friend..." he said to the door. Hopefully, they had some sort of thing to help them communicate...
There was some sort of beep and red light. Light looked at the camera screen that was put by Para long time ago. When Light looked at screen he felt as if he was about pass out, he didn't expect him to be here. "It has been so long."
The gem quickly stood up and went to the door. His loyal bird now was consuming two chess pawns and completly ignored what was going on at the moment. Pearl from the other hand clapped two times and activated the gemstone on his chest. It emitted gentle brown light. Soon the door opened with a big whooosh and Light could take a better look at a certain fire opal. He himself changed a bit... the once white tunic was now gray due to smoke and vulcanic ash, it was also torn in some places. His gemstone had some minor scratches from many battles. And the once beautiful hair was now uneven and messy. Pearl looked and smiled at his friend. "Hello! Look who is back! Sooooo did you change your mind and finally joined Crystal Gems?"

The annoying beeping of a certain light told him, that he was noticed. Well, there was that. He was waiting but he was impatient by nature. It took some time before the door opened and his friend came out. He looked different, probably tired from all the fighting. "Funny thing... I was never invited to join the Crystal gems... actually, I was refused the one time I tried because I was a "useless weight" or something... but no, I came to see you." he was still a bit salty from both sides refusing him when he was at this most vulnerable. "Can't I just drop in to talk?" he asked. He never hurt any Crystal gems before after all... some of them were his friends.
He raised his eyebrows, Light knew Chip, but this was one of those stories that he never had a change to listen to with details. "You must have asked some stupid gems in that case...There are two that come into my mind, but I doubt they are behind this." Long time ago he met two crystal gems that he considered his friends... but he than later learned how manipulative they were. From what he have heard they actually came back to serve Homeworld again. He didn't miss them, not at all.
Pearl's expression softened when Chip asked if he can come in. "You are more than welcome in here." Light didn't want to admit it, but he did miss Chip a little. He and Para were his only old, real friends. And lady Para was now gone, she vanished just like that. There wasn't a single day when he wasn't worried sick where she could be. She was a strong gem, someone that wouldn't give up in such a moment, but even she had weak spots. And there was noone to help her, he couldn't help her. At least Chip was doing okay.
Light enetered the Forge once again, he expected his fire friend to follow him.

"I was useless back then. I could provide no help just keep on needing it. If I didn't end up bumping into Morion I would be long shattered by now," he said trying to sound like he understood why they've done it. But it was a lie. He was still bitter about how everyone treated him back then. "Thanks for welcoming me," he smiled and followed his friend. Unlike Light, he had no problems expressing his feelings. "I missed you, you know..." he said honestly. Chip had very little luck with friends. Morion left... Ice left... and he didn't even want to think about Flurry right now. "You changed quite a lot since I've last seen you," he said while following him inside.
"You must have met some Morons... Each group has some of them, even mine." He didn't know Chip back than, but he didn't like the way those gems responded to his request. Was he really that weak? He had no idea... he only heard stories. Stories that were hard to believe because of the power he actually had. At least the old Morion treated him like his own child.Pearl was fully aware how Morion was actually a good person. It was something not everyone knew, but he actually cared deeply about his friends and even human culture. A loyalist to the core, but a loyalist ready to leave outside his own empire, away from his own kind.
"You are welcome! I probably use "welcome" too often, don't I?" He said while letting out a weak chuckle. Somehow it felt wrong to make any kind of jokes, even the silly ones.
"Now I do." He didn't want to sound rude, it just came out of him naturally. After Para's disappearance only his parrot kept him company. Vol, the iron golem was usually working as a guard when nobody was in the Forge or she was turned off. She made Light sometimes slightly uncomfortable. But it was a part of Para's legacy, rebelion's secret weapon and a possible way of 'curing' corrupted gems.
When both gems were inside Light approached the anvil and sit on it while also gesturing to Chip towards a simple plastic chair. "You need anything? I think there still should be some tea somewhere." Meanwhile Ibi, Light's parrot, appeared to glare towards Chip. The black eyes didn't even dared to move.
Pearl looked strangly at his winged companion, the one without a beak that is. He understood what Chip meat by saying he changed. Pearl let himself become unkept. The once imperfect, but shiny gem was covered in scratches after many battles while his clothes became gray due to the volcanic ash. He wasn't on homeword anymore, he didn't have to look pretty, he was more than just a decoration now... But he also didn't care. He had to stay and work in the Forge, only this mattered at the moment. He naturally tried to avoid the subject "I still look the same. I didn't change my form since the last time we met." He said while crossing his arms and looking away.

Chip shrugged once again. "There are morons in every group. Or the entire group are morons like the Broken gems... but let's not go there," Chip still regretted he didn't shatter Howlite when he had the option. Well, wasn't important right now. "You welcomed me... that's important. I wasn't quite sure if I would be welcomed here, I guess some of your... comrades would think I came here to shatter you or destroy the Forge or something," he didn't of course but some Crystal gems might easily think so. "You know me, I don't drink... it's weird but thank you, I appreciate the sentiment," he said. "Yes, your form is the same, but you look like someone took you through some tough sh... situation," he said. Chip himself was a warrior who got dragged through a lot of battles ... well pretty much since he emerged. Yet his form was as always - looking innocent, yet pristine. "Like I said... I came to see you. To... talk?" he sounded really not sure...
"Agreed." Pearl appeared to look more angry the moment Broken Gems were mentioned. It was written all over his face that he still disliked the group. all they were doing was causing trouble and making his life harder. It would be impossible now to make him respect them.
"I mostly hang out in here, you know? And I doubt you would be even able to shatter me. Not in here... not to mention I know you are secretly a softie." He said with a smirk. It felt good to make fun, it was hard to do it when no other gems were around.
"I still thought it would be a good idea to ask, it would be rude if i didn't offer anything. You can learn so much from human culture." He understood why Chip didn't liek drinking, Pearl himself hated to eat. Some gems didn't like to try what Earth had to offer, some only liked a portion of it. It was only natural. Not to mention their bodies were never meant to consume anything. Pearl just liked the taste of the fruit favored tea.
"We are on Earth Chip.... and it is dangerous. Some shiny decoration from Homeworld wouldn't survive in here. And you won't do much when you are too afraid to get your hands dirty." He said proudly, his condition only proved that he was an individual and not just some random Pearl. He was his own gem now. But after his spreach he had to sniff his clothes "But I suppose I might need a wash. There is no time, though!"
"I am listening." It has been a while since the talked with each other. Chip must have had a good reason to come here. Light only wondered what was it.

Chip chuckled a little. "Well, don't tell that to anyone... that would destroy my whole tough gem routine..." he said in jest. Nothing about him gave the image of a tough gem. And thanks to that a lot of his enemies underestimated him over and over again. It came in handy. "I know how dangerous Earth is, but I am working on that... one corrupted gem at a time," he was really proud about bubbling dozens of the most powerful gem mutants he managed to found. That didn't mean he didn't spend some time caring about his own projection. But he came here for a reason and he didn't know how to start with that. "I was in space... and I've met with the Diamonds. Well... I've met Blue and Pink." he tell his friend. The meeting changed him a lot but he wasn't sure it was enough. "I am not sure why Morion was so loyal to Blue... she wanted to get rid off me instantly, but... Pink understood," it was something he wasn't sure how to describe. After all, he was made for Pink and since he met here everything about him wanted to make her proud. Almost everything...
"Sure, it is not like I know a lot of gems anyway." He waved his hand nonchalantly. He was just joking, he wouldn't gossip about his own friend, that would be terrible! And it wouldn't help anyone in any way.
"That is good to hear Chip, that is good. I wish there were more Chips on Earth to do this job, it would make it much faster. Not to mention it would also be much easier for you." He smiled. Although, he wasn't just talking about corrupted gems. He was also talking about a possible invasion of a Pink Court. Yes, corruptions were dangerous, but they were also beasts. Gems that function without a plan, they were deemed to be all bubbled eventually. However, Pink court and Gems loyal to Homeworld in general were a real threat. What made it funny was that a Homeworld gem was standing in front of him. But Chip was different, he was never outside Earth, he was raised here, Light knew that he was a Crystal Gem in heart. He and Morion were probably the only loyalists on Earth that cared about Earth's fate.
Light burst out laughing. "That is a good one! Blue shouldn't even be here to begin with! Ha..."He tried to take it as a joke, but deep down he knew that Chip wouldn't make such a joke. "You are joking, right? Please tell me you are joking!" He started to sound more and more hysterically "Two Diamonds can't be stationing here, that would mean that they are preparing for the war! And what would we do if both of the Diamonds attacked? That is ridiculous! Ha..." Pearl felt as if he was about to fall, he had to sit on the anvil. He stared at the ground. "Tell me more." He sounded more serious and scared, but he had to know.

It was a little surprising that Light didn't know many gems. He was one of the more important Crystal gems, he should have known many, many gems, weird. He just shrugged it off. It was nice to hear that Earth could use more Chips. "Yeah, well... there very nearly were a lot more Fire Opals, but there is just one Chip. Well perhaps two if my little experiment ends up working." he touched his gem and pulled out the Precious Opal gem he "made". It wasn't all that important though. The reaction of Light confused him a little. He didn't take that quite seriously enough. "Oh yeah... then they sat me down and tell me all their plans to invade this planet..." he said ironically.
Light looked at Chip's handmade project. He was confused to say at least "Ummm... I am not a kindergartener, how is it suppose to work?" He took a closer look at the gemstone Chip presented to him. "How did you create it anyway? It looks like an actual gem... Were you experimenting with shards?" He looked slightly worried. The idea of touching some gem's remaining pieces was unsettling on its own. Experimenting with them was even worse.
He looked dead serious At Chip when he mentioned Diamond's plan. He placed his Hands on Chip's shoulders. He started to shake and his grip on Chip tightened. "Tell me more! Please! What are they planning? Lives depend on it!" It was perfect! Chip's knowledge could actually save this planet. The fire Opal just had to tell him what they were planning and the rebels could prepare themselves! If the crystal gems did take Light seriously that is. There was a small chance some of them knew about the incident in Empire City. Hopefully not.

"These are the shards of... me. The parts that got chipped of when Crystal gems attacked the Kindergarten. I collected them with Morion some time back. One was still there... in the ground. The other grew into an enormous drone that shattered at least a dozen gems. The last one was force-fused with an amethyst shard by an insane Peridot. I used my healing powers on them, healing them into a gem. A gem that... probably doesn't work." he explained. The gem looked like a normal Precious Opal. Unfortunately, there was no way to separate the one shard from the Amethyst. "I really have nothing to tell you. Diamonds want this planet back and they want you gone. And they will come. I guess they are gathering information right now before the strike. That is what I would do." he said.
Flurry: Such as...me! Cant have too many threads

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld

Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’.
