Heavy boots clanked onto the surface of the pad, the last light of warp energy fizzling out around the blue and red figure that had appeared. They looked up with an unimpressed gaze at the towering structure in front of them, and gave a hum of disappointment at the decaying state of it.
"This is absurd..." they sighed to themself, stepping off of the pad and taking a few thumping steps forward across the hard and rocky ground. "First the warps are down, then there's corrupted gems rampaging about willy-nillly, and now this? No wonder no new orders have come through - this thing is busted beyond belief." They held one hand to their hip, jutted out to the side. "Well, if nothing else I should see if it can be repaired." they decided with a slight nod. Summoning their weapon, a long and pointed rapier sword from the gem at the base of their throat, they first decided to scout the area to check for any danger before they got to work.
A distant explosion coming from the hub could be heard, following with the voice of an unknown gem. "HOT DIDDLEY-HO!" the gem exclaimed. Smoke was coming out of the building, following with Torbernite who's lab coat was covered in ash came out waving the smoke out of his vision. "Urgh, darn busted technology these days." he mumbled rubbing his neck. He was carrying a torn light brown backpack that was catching fire. "..That smell.. It's familiar.." he mumbled, then noticing the bag. "OH NO, NOPE, NEVER." he said, taking off his backpack and exstinguising the flames. He sighed in relief as the fires were gone, putting back on the backpack.
He noticed the newcomer. "Oh- Hello there! Don't worry, no need for weapons around here. Place is pretty much abandoned." he told Bluebird, inspecting the gem. "What IS with the getup?" he asked noticing the diamonds on the clothes.

Bluebird coughed lightly and waved smoke out of their face with a grimace. At the rather bombastic entrance, they were a little lost for words, and a little annoyed too. They had hoped to be able to work in peace, but that appeared out of the question.
Sword held out by their side, they looked the other gem up and down and tightened their hold on it. "I'd prefer to stay on guard." they replied, frowning. "So..." they began, beginning to circle around the other, steps causing lighter thumps than before as they shifted their weight. It would do no good to be unprepared for an attack. "An Earth gem, I'm presuming?" they continued, a vein of disgust evident in their voice. "Well, I suppose it's obvious, considering you don't seem to recognise the symbol of your superiors." They gestured with their free hand to the diamonds on their clothing.
Still circling, they made their way closer to the source of all the smoke. "Now let me ask you something...What, exactly, are you doing here?" Their gem glowed faintly as they spoke, using their voice's ability to mildly influence the other to tell the truth. The effect would depend on how strong the other's mind was, and if it seemed worthless to push further, they wouldn't.
"Earth gem? Oh, why that would be far from the truth." he said, smirking. "Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Dr. Torbernite, former scientist and developer of Homeworld technology." he said, brushing of the ash from his white coat.
"Now let me ask you something... What, exactly, are you doing here?"
"Oh, I am just here to check the communication hub's state. Seems to be doing pretty bad, though." he chuckled to himself. "That explosion was the frequency reciever. Don't worry though, it was busted anyways." Torbernite explained.
"What about you, then? It's not often people visit broken gem technology without any intentions." he curiously questioned. "Perhaps you just want to observe me and my professional working?" he eyed the gem, smirking. He took out a curious device out of his backpack, starting to press buttons that didn't seem to do much, if anything at all. An antenna extended from the device as he directed it towards the other gem. A green shine would scan Bluebird twice before the antenna would retreat back into the device. Some digital beeps could be heard after the scan as Torbernite curiously read the device's results.

*A homeworld gem?* Bluebird thought, looking the other over again *... I suppose I'll just have to take his word for it.* They rolled their eyes, unimpressed.
They then gave a start at the other's words, sputtering a little. They looked back at the plumes of smoke, then glared back at the other gem. "Professional?! From what you've just divulged to me, you've managed to blow up the only piece of equipment in the area that needed repairing!" they raised their weapon higher in anger. "Do you have any idea of the importance of this place?! You cannot simply traipse about as you like, blowing things up as you see fit!" Their cheeks flushed a darker shade of blue than their skin from their small rant, but they quickly went pale again at the sight of the device.
"What..." they started, lowering their weapon in curiosity and caution. "What did that thing just do?" they demanded, staring at it as it beeped with narrowed eyes.
"Do you have any idea of the importance of this place?! You cannot simply traipse about as you like, blowing things up as you see fit!"
Torbernite laughed at the confrontation. "Woah- geez. No-fun just entered the party." he said, keeping his eyes on the device's screen. "I know what this place is, and I'm not some idiot blowing everything up without knowing what they're doing." he frowned. "You should leave the reparation to me, I know what I'm doing. It's not like you're an engineer, or are you?" he asked the gem curiously.
"What did that thing just do?"
He eyed the gem a questioning look at first, then realizing. "Oh, you mean this lil' guy? Ah, don't worry about it. I'm not invading your personal space." he said jokingly. He continued to read the device. "You're an azurite then? That's a first." he said smirking, putting the device back into the backpack. "It was a long time ago I met a Homeworld gem, and with good reason." he mumbled.

"No, I'm not an engineer." Bluebird admitted "But frankly, I don't consider leaving the reconstruction of this place in your 'capable' hands a good idea." they sniffed, placing their hand on their hip.
At the mention of their type of gem though, they froze up, weapon hanging limper by their side. "What?" they asked, raising their hand to almost touch their gem. Shaking off their sudden panic, they glared at the other gem and shifted their feet into a combat stance, rapier held high again. "I do not care about your past experience with homeworld gems, but answer me swiftly and concisely otherwise there won't be any future ones." they threatened, gem glowing again and brighter than before. "Is that all your machine said? Yes or no?" Sweat beaded a little on their forehead.
"I do not care about your past experience with homeworld gems, but answer me swiftly and concisely otherwise there won't be any future ones."
"Now now, let's not jump to conclusions. All it told me was some certainly interesting information about your gem. You're not the most usual gem. As I said, you're a first." he said, smiling. He made a shrugging gesture. "But, I'm not one to complain. I'm not perfect either." Torbernite said, noticing the other gem's sensitivity about the subject. "Down with your weapon already, do I look like a corrupt? Where are your manners?" he said in a noble tone. "You haven't even told me your name yet, quite rude." he continued, adjusting his goggle.
"How about having a conversation without killing each other, hmm, yes?" Torbernite suggested. "I really can't bother a fight." he said, remaining on the spot he had been standing on now for these past ten minutes.
Malachite watched two gems have their petty conversations and smirked "What are these gems doing in the communication hub, it's been broken for years!" He muttered under his breath. His Chain-scythe stabbed into the side of one of the many tall towers in the hub. He made his way to the top as if he was a ice climber.
Soon, at the top of the tall crystal structure he could see the two easier but was still too far. He teleported from pillar to pillar until he was almost above them. "Perfect eavesdropping position" He said returning his weapon into his gem. He looked over the edge at the two and listened in to their conversation. From where they stood, it was impossible to spot him.

Bluebird flushed brightly and shook. "You will tell no one." they ordered. "But... fine. I didn't come here looking for a fight in the first place.Plus, this site has seen damage enough - a fight here would only harm it further." They lowered their weapon, but didn't disperse it. Who knew what this other gem could do, if he had machines like that.
Collecting their composure a little, they continued. "My name is Bluebird. And no, you may not give me a nickname." they told him, a little miffed at being called rude. As far as they were concerned, they were being as polite as need be. "...And yours?" they asked as an afterthought. They supposed it was only fair to know what kind of gem the other was, if he knew what they were.
Malachite looked at the two and examined them closer. Hmm, well we got ourselves a mad scientist and a...blue gem just like me! Let me just watch them a bit longer, don't know what i'm getting myself in- A piece of the tower he stood on had cracked and fallen off under his foot. With a quick reaction he jumped backwards to avoid falling.
The piece of debris made a loud crack as it broke away from the structure. It fell through the air at fast speeds hitting the ground between Bluebird and Torbenite. Shattering on impact, it broke into small pieces. Aw crap! this place is literally falling apart! The gem thought to himself as he hid on top of the tower.
A beam of light descended from the sky onto the communication hub's warp. Thr light dissipated to reveal a tall figure clad in black armor with red accents. Obsidian took his first look at the communication hub since he had lost contact with Homeworld. The reason for the loss of contact was immediately apparant, the hub was quite literally falling apart. The large pillars had chunks missing from them. His gaze fell on a pair of gems who were in mid conversation. He made his way over to them briskly.
"What happened here? Why is the communication hub damaged?" He asked, looking at both of them, expecting an answer from at least one of them. Though he focused on the one that appeared to be a scientist, since he would be more likely to know.
Torbernite sighed. "Come on, already forgot my name? It's still Dr. Torbernite. I didn't change i-" Torbernite stopped himself as he jumped backwards in shock from the stone. "Woah! That was a close one!" Torbernite exclaimed, laughing afterwards. He looked at the direction of the source of the stone that was close to hitting both of them. "Huh.. That's weird.. I thought I saw someone." he said in a confused tone. Torbernite took off his backpack and took out another weird device.
It was oval shaped, graywith two antennas and a darkgreen screen with four buttons beside it. It was resembeling some kind of radar. Two lightgreen dots were shown on the screen along with a big red dot. Two beeps from the device was heard, 2 seconds from each other. Torbernite inspected the screen and the dots. "Hmm... It seems like we are not alone." he said in a dark tone. "Get ready Bluebird, we might not know what's coming."
He placed the radar back into his backpack, pulling out yet another device. It was resembeling a gun of some sort. It seemed really broken and rusted, though useable. He carefully aimed towards the direction of where the debris had fallen from, he had a very serious face put on him.
He heard the warp pad and the newcomer, not turning to face him but remaining to aim with his mostly broken gun to the location of where the debris originally had been. "It has been damaged for a long time now, kid. I suggest getting ready of an attack of some sort. We're not alone." he said in a serious tone awaiting any sudden movements.
Malachite stayed back on top of the tower when he suddenly saw a small drone device appear over the edge. With quick reaction he teleported away from it onto another tower. "Well it seems like we have an advanced gem here" he said looking over at them from behind at a distance away.
Malachite pulled out his chains-scythe and was prepared to retaliate if the two gems attacked
"I won't have to worry about the blue girl, but mr. Scientist over here seems to have some tricks up his sleeves" The gem thought to himself. Out of their sight he still stayed on his toes not knowing what else Torbenite had to offer.
(For now let's just have malachite stay hidden until it's come for him to come out -3-
Meta had registered a good deal of activity heading to the communications-relay. That was.... Peculiar. There was no good reason for Gems to congregate in a deadend, much less several Gems. So Meta had gone to investigate, albiet covertly. What she found was two unfamiliar Gems..... And Malachite.
Mr. "I cause and attract problems for a living". That did not bode twrribly well. So Meta had hovered up the pillared walls of the temple almost silently, doing her best to stay out of sight until she was only a little ways below Malachite.
She hissed in a half-whisper.
"What's everyone doing here? What are YOU doing here? We don't want any more problems, remember?"
She looked up at Malachite reproachfully. Her judgemental tone might have been a tad harsh. And one might have argued that Meta's propensity for observing everyone and following people around and acting as arbiter for things was annoying, albeit helpful.

*The "corruption" is being treated like a virus due to lack of info about it on the show.
*Garnet, Pearl and Rose are assumed capture on Homeworld
*Garnet,Pearl and Rose broke the space warps to delay Homeworld
*Thanks to Roses Message gems now know what the Kindergarten was used for
