TIGER.Name: Tiger. If she's ever in a situation where she is being called on by a commanding officer, though, then she'll respond to Tiger's Eye.
Theme: On the Grind
Appeared Gender: Woman. Her preferred pronouns are she/her/hers and they/them/theirs.
Appeared Age: Twenty-four
Gemstone: Tiger's Eye
Gemstone Location: Solar Plexus
Corrupted: No
Appearance: (I'll be using the below pic, which was commissioned by me from artist Ray B.)
Personality: Tiger, on a normal day, likes to do her own thing. She draws her energy from being left alone to handle personal business and missions on her own. She can then use that recharged battery to spend time around others. It's easy to tell when she needs to be recharged; she gets catty and irritable and challenges other people's ideas frequently.
Because she likes to believe herself just as capable as the next person, she pushes to get her way and grows combative when someone tells her that her way is not the right way. The only people she doesn't challenge are authority figures - but that's only after they've proven themselves fit to lead. Those who have not yet proven that to her but try to lead anyway are likely to be met with resistance or plain refusal.
In battle, Tiger usually likes to handle her opponents alone. This can be a problem sometimes when she overestimates her own ability. She knows when she is outmatched and is receptive to help in those instances, but she is not quick to admit defeat in cases where she believes she should have been able to win. Her sheer size might make her a sought after fusion partner -- she stands at 5"11' -- but because of her simultaneous high levels of self-confidence and desire to be alone, her fusions can be either highly unstable beings who do not last long or entirely too stable beings who do not want to separate.
To those Tiger develops a strong bond with, Tiger is a caring figure. She can be a confidant and a guardian, but these roles are generally reserved more for the gems that Tiger views as needing her maternal protection. Outside of a few rare cases, Tiger is of a mostly individualistic mindset and believes that warriors should look out for themselves and have their own backs the majority of the time. There is lots of room for her to learn the value of team efforts.
Likes/Dislikes: Tiger likes napping, swimming, and listening to silence. She dislikes large social settings.
Fears: Tiger fears the destruction or corruption of her gem.
Weapon: She pulls out from her gem a primitive looking tomahawk that can be used as a close-range blunt force object or a mid-range throwing weapon. Outside of battle, the thing can be used as a nifty tool.
Ability 1: Tiger Senses - Tiger has enhanced senses that come in handy when she's doing reconnaissance. Tiger's cat-like eyes are great at helping her out when doing scout work, while in battle, or just about anything she can put them to use for. She can see in the dark, and her vision remains strong even in low-visibility conditions such as while underwater and during storms. Her eyes also have a sort of zoom-in function; with focus, she can see up to a mile away without losing detail. Beyond that and sight value begins to decrease before eventually becoming ineffective at two miles. Her hearing is exceptional, and so is her sense of smell. With these built-in enhancements, her intuition is heightened; the relates to the Tiger's Eye gem which is said to bring luck to its possessors.
Ability 2: Tiger Roar - Tiger's roar, while it may be intimidating to some, is mainly a defense mechanism. In a pinch, she can let out this guttural bellow and do a number of things with it. There is a physical manifestation of this concussive sound wave and if she targets an opponent and hits them with it then it can stun her opponents or knock them down (depending on how big they are), giving herself time to retaliate or retreat. The paralyzing effect can usually buy her a moment, most likely to be translated into an opponent flinching during their attack. By the same token, she can also use this sound wave to quickly clear an area of debris, much like Lion from the Steven Universe show does. Alternatively, Tiger can roar into the sky to alert others of her location or to signal that she needs help. Her roar is one of novelty, meaning it can only be used once every five posts; otherwise, it becomes old news, fails to shock anyone, and loses its effect.
Fusions: As of right now, none.
History: Tiger was formed on Homeworld thousands of years ago. Because of her abilities, she was enlisted in the Homeworld protection agency's spy program. Her missions were usually simple: to infiltrate the planet she was assigned to, scope the place out, and then return back to Homeworld with information. Her size and ability to fight as well as her abilities that lent themselves to reconnaissance made her a fine field operative and, for this reason, she was allowed to attend many missions alone. Going on so many missions alone is what caused Tiger to begin appreciating solitude and silence. There was never anyone to talk to on these missions, and she grew to love the time alone because she had to.
She was loyal to her diamond, Yellow Diamond, and was respected as a quartz.
Once there was talk of visiting a blue planet in a far away solar system, Tiger was sent to perform reconnaissance there once again. Because of suspicions that this planet contained many valuable resources, those in charge decided that this mission was an especially important one. It would be naive of her to believe she was the only spy sent to investigate Earth, but what made this expedition even more unique was that for the first time Tiger was assigned an escort. The gem's name was Carnelian. (Tiger was told her escort's name but because of her spy status Tiger was told to withhold her own name from Carnelian.) Tiger was not particularly thrilled to have Carnelian along for the ride to Earth; she had grown accustomed to being alone and felt that this pairing was a jab at her competency to handle the job herself. Still, she did not disobey her commanding officer's orders.
On Earth, she collected data about the humans. For more years than can be counted she gathered information about the flora and fauna of the little blue planet with her escort always following close behind. After some thousand years, Tiger was nearly prepared to return to Home World with her findings and escort. She had only a bit more information to gather before she was ready to make that journey.
One day while trying to study the early humans, Tiger, who sat about a mile away, saw what seemed to be a band of gems she could not identify helping the Earth-natives fend off a monster that seemed to have a gem of its own. She had never encountered a corrupted gem before, and did not know anything of the Crystal Gems. Tiger tried her best to inform her superior of what she had seen and arrange her ride back to Homeworld. She would learn as she tried to contact Homeworld, however, that communication had been cut off and the warp pads had been busted. Tiger wasn't exactly sure how long this had been the case.
Over the next several years, she would abandon Carnelian, opting to once again return to her solitude. (She had never really made any connection with the escort, so why keep her around?) On her own, now, Tiger is determine exactly what is going on on Earth with these gems she does not know.
