Tourmaline walked to his old station at the abandoned communication site. He sighed thinking of the day he was told to be directed to the kindergarten project. He walked up to the center console and looked at the panel, it was all messed up and out of power. "Hmm I will need multiple hydraulic cables and up to date gem technology to fix this thing...". He tried to power the whole thing himself but got to much negative feedback and got launched back 3 feet. "I will also need something to increase my output of energy..." he made a mental list of all the things he will need. He wondered if they had the technology he needs at the kindergarten after all they were going to use him to boost it, so they must've had some equipment to boost power. "Well i better get to work with what i can do." As he made his way through all the pipes he saw a glove with what looked like to be a gem stuck to it. He picked it up and got a bit of static feedback. "So this thing produces electricity to huh?" He put it on and felt his hand receive a bit of a charge. He immediately went to power the communication hub but still didn't cut it, but it definitely helped the positive charge. "Huh Guess im keeping you around!"
Carbonado glanced down lazily from his place perched on one of the many pillars of the communication Hub. A green gem (he had been meeting lots of those lately) had been wandering around the area for a while now. Carbonado didn't have any super hearing, but it was likely that the gem was trying to fix up the place, considering the way he moved and examined around the place. Who's side was he on, though? The black gem couldn't see much use in repairing the hub; as far as he knew, all crystal gems except for perhaps Rose Quartz and her band were on Earth; they definitely had no allies on other planets, much less on Homeworld. Repairing the hub would likely be much less useful for them than it was for enemy gems.
'Should I knock him out?' he thought lazily as he rested his chin on his palm, his elbow pressed against his thigh. Violence, while fun, rarely solved anything; and jumping to conclusions was something that would annoy him greatly, so he didn't want to do it to someone else. 'Well, guess I will just have to ask.'
He dropped off the pillar he was perched up on, landing heavily on the ground with a thud as his feet absorbed the impact. Rising up lazily, his arms pocketed into his jeans, his eyes half lidded.
"Yo. Name's Carbonado; what'cha up to? I'm sure you can tell, but this place is out of order."
Amy had been hanging out near the comms for a while wishing she could fix them to communicate with home world. When all the sudden Lord behold a gem was tinkering with them. ~Is he trying to fix it? Hmm, maybe this gem could prove useful as a allie. She put on a smile and walked over to him, as he was picking up a glove. "Hi! I'm Amy, and what are you doing over here?" She said faking her friendliness even though she had gotten good at this. She looked around and saw a gem jumping towards them,~ Gosh his grammar is annoying me. Yo? Isn't this earth slang?~ She thought, but kept her smile on, "Hello, there Carbanado! Maybe he's trying to fix it?" She said trying to get him to be quiet so she could know if this gem was doing just that.
Aragonite lazed by the Communication Hub, watching this other gem try his hand at fixing it. She didn't expect success, but who knows, maybe they could relay a message back to Homeworld, finally escape this rock, and return to competent civilization. She stood up, and began to approach the gem, before slowing down. "Two more?" She whispered, rubbing the face of her gem, just to make sure her 'eye' was not tricking her. That was inconvenient, no matter however, other gems could be useful. before arriving at the gem, standing over him. "The Hub is not a toy, if you wish to repair it, you need the proper tools. Which, sadly, we do not possess. Then again, maybe you can create a miracle, and fix it." She said plainly, then turning to the others, with an quizzical look.
"Pleased to meet you, 'Carbondo' and 'Amy'. I am Aragonite." She said, bowing.
Tourmaline turned around and saw Three new gems obviously startled. "GAH!" He hid the glove behind his back. "Um hi Carbonado, Amy, and Aragonite, and yes i am trying to fix the communication hub." He processed what he just said. "Oh i didn't mean as in fix it to use it to get homeworld help...its just I need to know what happened to that pink gem that sent the message..." He looked around and tried to figure out everyone's personality's. He looked at Amy and saw that she was a focused yet curious gem but something was off. He looked at Carbonado based on his slang and using the word Yo he must have been exposed to at least SOME human culture. He looked at Aragonite and saw that she just wants to get this over with and prefers to be alone. "Yes...Unfortunately i lack the uh...Proper materials to fix this place up."
((Btw Amy for the sake of not repeating things our beach rp isn't mentioned in this rp and i dont know who you are))
Carbonado didn't seem to care much for the other gems that had arrived, simply shrugging off the fact that both of them got his name wrong; he couldn't really be bothered to even learn half ways the name of other gems, so it wasn't like he could demand others to learn his. The blue hued one seemed rather cheerful, even if she went out of her way to state the obvious.
"Well duh he is fixing the comms. The point is that unless he has some hidden tools lying around, it's a waste of time." though most importantly, a waste of Carbonado's time if they didn't get moving soon enough.
He had come mostly to destroy the place, after all; couldn't do it with a bunch of gems standing around.
The brow gem seemed to agree with him, though Carbonado wouldn't have called fixing the place a 'miracle'. 'Catastrophe sounds more accurate.' He noted idly in his mind. Luckily, it seemed they had been correct; the green gem possessed neither the tools nor the materials required to fix the communication hub. Though considering his reasons, it had become plainly obvious that he likely didn't care much for Homeworld. Was he also a crystal gem?
'I really need to start writing down a list.' he thought, scratching the back of his head lazily before pocketing his hands. Either way, whether he just wanted to see Rose Quartz or one of her companions, the black gem couldn't allow him to fix up the place, unfortunately. There was no way to secure a private communication line, which meant Homeworld could resume using it too if it was fixed. He couldn't let that happen, naturally.
"Well, that's terrible." he said in a flat tone, obviously not caring much for seeing the place fixed up. "Hiding something behind your back makes it more suspicious, you know. Anyways, what now? Place can't be fixed with human technology," Well actually, it could; if they found someone with enough technological know how on the human tech and enough finesse. A crane like the ones he had seen on human constructions site would require near surgical precision from the user; those things looked unwieldy as all heck.
"What do we have here?" Jadeite entered the room, only to see a group of Gems hovered around each other, for the most part, looking worried. As they made room for her to be able to see for herself what was going on, Jadeite's facial expression barely changed. "Okay, so... A communciation hub? That's it?". However, something told her to look deeper into the situation.
Using her telescopic vision, she was able to look inside of all of the panels and see what exactly the problem was: The Communication Hub was down. "Oh.. it's down," Jadeite said, loud enough only for a person who was really close to her could here, "How unfortunate. I'm assuming none of you have the tools to repair it?". In response, she got a bunch of nods. "What an unfortunate way to start my day. I'll see what I can do about it".

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
